Takes me back to high school
Wow, I remember getting the original bauldurs gate on pc with 8 cd roms to run(bg1 seems so small now!) Now the thing fits on my iPad. Admittedly the touchscreen is a compromise, but once I got the hang of it, I was off. There is a tremendous wiki for the games and still boasts an active community at the time of this writing. I really wanted planescape to be a better game (how do you wind up with a linear adventure on the great ring?) but that’s no fault of the folks who ported this stuff. I’ve had immense enjoyment from this entire bundle, with a replay I’m doing for the third time now. Taking characters from the core 3 games is very easy and extremely satisfying to the power player who understands the game mechanics. Thanks for the blast from the past from the superior in every way, ADnD 2e. (Sorry you 5e wimps, this is challenging on even core rules, and spoon feeds nothing to you. Also there are no half dragon/tiefling/goliath bard-paladin-sorcerer-artificer-there’s play tested balance for a reason.)

Stuck in tutorial
Would love to play the game in the tutorial and learn how to play it, but all of my characters are stuck in the tutorial and can’t make the move
Not bad, here’s a hack to help!
Game is exactly as the old one, really. But the controls and the icons are so small! Well, there’s a workaround: go to setting, accessibility, and zoom. Turn it on, turn on follow focus, and zoom controller. Tap the directional pad when you want to bring up the options, and change to window zoom when playing the game. You get a little window that you can control the size, location, and magnification of. Put this over your pause button when not using it. When you need it, change the size and zoom accordingly and move it around the screen for those hard to click icons, the inventory menus, or to interact with the environment. This thing is the only way I can play this game, and it’s proven worth it, even if it is a bit of a hassle until you get used to it.

Great game that need updating
As good as this game is, it really needs an update for newer devices to make the resolution correct. And this probably applies to the rest of the games in this series as well
Terrible fighting mechanics
Thought this game was going to be amazing, then I get into my first battle with a basic level 1 wolf. My character did 15 slashes and missed every single strike, and if it wasn’t for imoen, I would have died. Second wolf same story. I chose a fighter class and can’t fight apparently. If the fights are going to be this boring and take this long to kill even a basic level 1 enemy, the rest of the game seems like it’s going to be a slow slog. I’m sorry I don’t think it should take 110 strikes to defeat an enemy. Who has the time and patience for that?
Bad interface
I played BG2 on computer and it was really fun so I got it on phone. However, the interface is very small and it’s hard to play. The actual game (story, challenge, mechanics, etc) is really good but it doesn’t fit a mobile screen. If you can get past it though, it might be worth buying.

This is an almost perfect port of a legendary game. The only problem is the UI. They added a scaling slider, but the UI is still too small at the max setting.

Everything is so small I can’t see anything. It is unplayable even when I turned the font size all the way up. It’s a shame but I will be returning this game.

I love this game, I bought Neera and Dorn storylines and played this for years on my old IPad. I have all the sequels too. I got a new iPad and reinstalled the app, but it looks like it is making me repurchase Neera and Dorn! Please tell me this is not true! Help! HELP!
text too small
I tried the text scale up and that made some text bigger. Unfortunately the text in the buttons stayed small! The game is unplayable on my iPhone 😢
Great game with hiccup for purchase restore
The game still plays great. In Game you can’t restore your purchase, but if you purchase again then Apple will recognise during that process that you have previously purchased already and lets you download for free.
No fullscreen on iPadOS 16
Hi. There is no fullscreen support on iPad pro 11 2021.
Dialogue blocks “Done” Button
Tutorial dialogue box blocks the “Done” button on screens where you inspect abilities. This makes it impossible to progress without resetting.

Awesome port for iPad, happy to give 5-stars as there was a lot of effort that went in to capturing the best parts of the original.
Aspect ratio doesn’t work on iPad mini
I played the ordinals on PC many years ago and the enhanced editions are great except for the aspect ratio not going full screen on iPad mini.

I’ve been hearing about how amazing this game is for years. Perhaps it was 20 years ago. So far I’ve only got to the SUPER annoying tutorial. Not only do u have to keep clicking a specific button line by line to advance dialog, but the “tutors” keep spending a lot of time stating the obvious which just adds to the frustration. The voice caring is utterly appalling and cringeworthy - like an archetypal American teenager pretending to speak in other accents (but end up sounding American and nerdy in the worst sense of the word) and worse still other roles. The mage in particular has such awful voice acting it would be preferable to use nails on a chalkboard… Dreadful, but not ads dreadful as the “what’s taking so long” mechanic. If the devs were trying to get folks to smash their tablets then they’ve done a bang up job. I’d love to comment on the game proper but so far I’m stil stuck in the 7th circle of hell - sorry I meant this horrendous “tutorial”. Deleted, for my own sanity. This is the recommended action.
Neera and Dorn missing
Although I have purchased both characters some time ago, and they are listed as purchased at the App Store, the game says I need to buy them. And in fact when I tried to go to the app problems area it told me I haven’t even bought the app. As this is my favourite game, I find this all perplexing. Other than this recent glitch it is a fantastic game.
Absolute blast of nostalgia, playing on iPhone 10
The smaller screen on IOS takes some getting used to but being able to zoom with your fingers really helps I HIGHLY recommend cranking your phone brightness to max and then the game is as beautiful and easy to see as a game of this generation can be on a phone So far my custom party of 3 has just made their way into Beregost town. Loving the game so far, played the original and its DLC’s and sequels on pc
Game does not appear to function any more
I was unable to get through the tutorial due to various bugs. The most common was that a spell information screen would refuse to go away, thus blocking further interaction with the game until I force-quit the app. There were other issues as well, such as touch targets not registering repeatedly, and their “app support” link leading to an abandoned website. I sought out their support forum but received no reply. I have asked for a refund - the first time I’ve done so for any app.

The entire collection of overhaul games would be 5 on iOS except… well except they will not update the app to go full screen. I’d prefer to play on my phone over my PC. But with the games not fitting to my screen they’re too small to be enjoyable.. if it gets fixed it would be an easy 5 star.
Not great on a phone
You can’t zoom in so it’s hard to read any of the information when choosing a character. Hopefully it’s easier when playing if I can squint enough to get that far.
Classic but needs an update.
Solid port of an excellent classic from BioWare. That being said it’s way past time to update the resolution to actually fill the screen on iPad Pros.

Unplayable on a phone

I love BG, have played through it many times (great offline game when I’m unable to be on WiFi for extended periods of time). However, when I go to play the Black Pits, it ALWAYS crashes when I kill Llyrk. DEVELOPERS, please address this. I haven’t had this happen in the regular BG ever, but it’s happened at least 5 times, with imported characters and the stock group. I would love to see this fixed and be able to enjoy the full content of this incredible game. -Thank you in advance.

Not appropriate for a phone
Brilliant game, really not appropriate for a phone. Tiny text, tiny buttons and no option to change that. There’s quite a few reviews stating the opposite and they steered me wrong. Perhaps the iPad experience is better but I could tell within seconds that this is not a game to be played on the phone.

I really would love to give this five stars. As it was meant to be a nostalgic trip in my past. However, when playing the game everything was just ridiculously speeded up. Is there any way I can slow down the game play to what it was in 1999/2000 when i first played. I really hope so. I know it sounds ridiculous that I am complaining about accelerated game play. However, when the characters sound so speeded up that they sound like Pinky and Perky it is an issue. I seriously would love to spend hours on this game again.

I love Baldur’s Gate; replayed it numerous times across many platforms, but... But why, oh why, no custom portraits/sounds?! It would be soooooo easy with IoS. Improve customization is what it’s all about these days.

A little disappointed at the ending
Enjoyed the game very much but I felt a little let down when completing the mission, the death of Sarevok, no collecting the party together and relaying the news back to the Dukes et al. Instead it just plays a short death scene and cuts to the home page. Also can you please sort out the bug in ‘The Black Pits’ when it crashes the moment Llyrk dies. Could have been 5 stars with these faults ironed out.
