Ads During Active Tornado Sirens
Immediately uninstalled this app after it served me a THIRTY SECOND AD in the middle of active tornado sirens going off. Imagine there had been one on the ground, those 30 seconds could have killed somebody. Disgusting practice to put wealth and ad revenue over the safety of your viewers. Shameful

Works better on Android
A few bugs. 1: Some notifications send me to the wrong link. For example; A got a notification about Kendrick Lamar and when I clicked on it, it brought me to an article about Beyonce not Kendrick and it does this on a lot of other articles too with the incorrect linking. 2: I turned off notifications for sports and I still get notifications about the stupid Chiefs, like I don’t give a flying rats *ss about sports. I’ve never been a fan of sports and never will. The only thing nice about KMBC 9 is on iphone it follows the device theme for main page unlike the android version, although it still shows white background on articles which I don’t like. 3: The articles also jump when scrolling on main page which is super annoying. KMBC 9 needs better iOS app developers.

I’m a long time viewer. So much that I’ve downloaded your app because I believe in your news. But can someone do something about the 2 or 3 ads that pop up. You are reading your article, an ad pops up and when going back to ghe article, it takes right back to the beginning. I understand you needing ads but stop taking me back to the beginning of the article. Please and thank you
The Worst News App
Who does KMBC source their app development to? This app is still a cluttered mess. Difficult to navigate what your looking for and confusing. It’s the worst of all the local TV news stations by far. Uninstalling.

Being a person who values the truth in a twisted “Fake News world” KMBC/ABC always hits the mark with their reporting. * I am a fan of NPR & PBS, they have no agenda other than the truth. I find ABC / KMBC to be the same, a trusted, valued information outlet. Thanks
Buggy App
The app is pretty lousy and buggy. Annoying pop-up every time you launch it. Also, any video will first play a commercial.
My favorite channel
I love KMBC 9 news it’s my favorite live news to watch. The app on the other hand is not my favorite. Some of the stories stay the same for weeks or as other news channels change them more frequently. There are also so many ads that I often get frustrated and close the site.

Don’t want news just weather
There’s no way to limit notifications to just weather events. I don’t want my life interrupted by what someone else thinks is newsworthy (or, more accurately, wants to hype so they make ad money). Deleted the app.
Too many Loud ads and videos pop up
If you want to quietly check news or sports , pick a different app. This one has loud ads with no way to silence the audio . It is the same with video news stories. Sorry KMBC your app is too intrusive. I will stick KSHB41

App crashes to Home Screen
In the last month the app has begun kicking me back to the app Home Screen when I check the radar, click on an article to read, or basically anything that directs me away from the Home Screen. This is cumbersome and getting old. Please, oh please squash this bug!
Nothing but ads
I had to turn off all notifications because any notification means watching a full ad before seeing the video the notification is about. I first just stopped clicking on the notifications because I knew that meant a full ad with no skip feature would be forced on me before seeing the video. Then, I realized why am I even allowing these notifications if I’m not going to click on the bait??? So, off they went. Ads are becoming a leading cause in attention deficit disorders.

Trash App
They send you notifications of all these cool sounding news articles and then when you go in the app there is absolutely 0 way to find them and so they get your hopes up for nothing. Probably fake news.
What changed??
Just within the last week or so (after an update?), I’ve been getting kicked out of the articles while reading them. It takes me right back to the top story, regardless of how many times I try to go back into the story. Super frustrating.
Enough of the Covid-19 notifications
Every time I get a notification from the KMBC9 app, it seems like it is yet another update about something involving Covid. Whether the newest spooky variant or where to get vaccines, enough already. We know where to go to get vaccinated or get boosters. How about keeping important notifications relating to the KC area to bad traffic, homicides, weather alerts, Royals/Chiefs wins…not another update on a bad cold. I do have the other local news stations apps and rarely do I get Covid updates. I get a few here and there but it’s nothing like the KMBC app. Seems like KMBC9 is really pushing these Covid stories like it’s 2020 all over again and wanting us to still be afraid of it. The vaccine is out there. If you want to get it, fine. If you don’t want to because you’ve already had it or taking other precautions, fine.

Reliable but is very glitchy
Good for storm alerts, but the app is very glitchy and hard to use at times.
Complaint
I enjoy the app for local news and weather,however, I do not like the set up. Some stories stay on the site forever. That story may no longer be relevant. I don’t need to know today the winner of the Kentucky derby is not running in the Preakness, as an example. My second complaint deals with the app going back to the top story once you close a story in the middle of the news, so correct that feature.
Surprisingly easy to use
First off - the app helps you configure what you’re needing right off the bat. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rooted around in app settings to figure out some of these things. Well done.
Dizzying Scrolling on iPhone
Weird application... only news app I know if that as you scroll up, or down, to see stories (headlines/pics), the stories/pics annoyingly pop-up at bottom (or top) of screen. Dizzying. Developer- please fix that... I rarely use app for that reason. Using iPhone.

I only use this for the weather report and to be notified every half hour when one of you KC people shoots another KC person.

Fix the notifications!!!
How many reviews have to say they don’t want 100 notifications from KMBC before they fix it? I have Local/National Breaking News only selected for notifications and receive notification after notification about things that couldn’t be further from breaking news. I had to turn the notifications completely off.
Can’t take to forced video
I like channel 9 news but had to delete the app. Just can’t take the fact that they force play a video of the news story with full blown commercial first and no way to turn off. I get that they need to pay for this app somehow, but force playing video with no way to stop or turn off sound is so so annoying. Back to Fox 4 app for me where I can read the news in silence.
Big Thank You
Can’t thank you enough for giving Staley High Girls basketball team a spot on the 6 PM news tonight Karen Kornacki. They’ve gotten so little press (print or online) yet had an outstanding year with new Head Coach Mike Bennett who came to Staley after a stint as Head Coach of Mill Valley HS boys basketball and lead them to a State Title. Girls get the short straw in publicity. Thanks so much for giving them a great sendoff to State Final Four in Springfield Mo this weekend.
Not impressed
First of all, links to stories open with the slightest touch, but most of all, the ads with the loud audio coming on because I want to read a story are ridiculous. I’m deleting this one.
I want to read not listen or watch!
Every time there is a story I want more information about, it always results in a loud commercial & video story. I’m in a waiting room, a meeting, or other private setting... why would I want a loud commercial & video to start playing? Why would KMBC do this without any means to STOP? Why auto play at all? I basically can’t trust any notification from this app. Which means this app is worthless to me.

This is an awful app to stream live news. You have to watch 8 ads before you get a tiny bit of news then you go back to ads. Not for me
