Perfect App
Brilliant app to rent a car!
Glitchy currency lock & terrible support
Extremely disappointed. I set my location to Norway, but the app automatically overrode my settings during download and locked my referral credits to USD. Now they are completely useless for my booking. Support acknowledged this is a system flaw but refused to fix it, and then completely ghosted me right as my payment deadline approached. Unfair app glitches combined with terrible customer service—Avoid this app if you are traveling outside your home country.

A noter pour les jeunes conducteurs : l’application annonce qu’il faut avoir 2 ans de permis minimum mais l’assurance portée par Getaround exige 5 ans de permis. Donc l’annonce de Getaround de 2 ans de permis est trompeuse

Excellent service
I rented a car through Getaround for the first time. Unfortunately, the vehicle had several issues that should have been identified before the rental began from its owner. While the experience with the car itself was disappointing, Getaround, as the middleman that I faced, handled the situation professionally. After reviewing the evidence I provided, their support team stepped in, listened carefully, and treated me fairly and with respect as a customer. They worked with me to reach an outcome that left me satisfied despite what had been a very disappointing experience. Things can go wrong from time to time, but what matters is how a company responds, and Getaround responded exactly as I would hope from a professional platform. Because of the way they handled the situation, I would happily use Getaround again and recommend them to others. Thank you to the Getaround team for the excellent customer service.

Bilen var grei nok men bileier var muggen og ville ikke refundere for høyere tank. Så svarer Get med å sende mailer om hvor hardt de jobber med saken .. er det AI svar? Nei dette var nok litt for vanskelig. Det blir en no-go neste gang. Heller en overpriset leieavtale som er pålitelig.
Bugs
Har en vei å gå. Blir stadig sendt i sirkler og får feilmeldinger. Virker litt ny og uferdig. Men tanken er god og blir sikkert utbedret.
Cleared check in and out process
First time using Getaround and I would have like detailed information on what the process is for checking in a car and out again. I expected a pop up or something obvious on the main screen but nothing. This meant I was late Checking in and out. And it would be useful to be able to go back to add photos
Supplied Unsafe Car
I rented a Nissan XTrail via Getaround. One of the tyres was old, warn and bald on the inside tyre wall, and this caused the tyre wall to develop a huge rip along the seam with the tread while I was driving with my family in the car. This was a very dangerous situation causes by supplying the car in an illegal and unroadworthy condition. I had to charge the tyre myself as the road assistance number wasn’t working, and neither the vendor or Getaround have been responsive in dealing with my safety report. To add insult to Injury they then charged me extra for cleaning the car, which was returned in the same condition as we when we picked it up.

DEVOLUCIÓN FIANZA
Me parece muchísimo tiempo que, primero retengáis los 150€ diez días laborables (cuando el conductor ha tenido tiempo de sobra para reportar cualquier inconveniente en la devolución del coche). Una vez transcurrido la estos días 10 laborables, enviáis un correo al cliente diciendo que ya habéis liberado la fianza, y que cualquier problema consultemos con el banco. Resulta que consulto con el Banco, y éste tarda 14 días más en devolver el dinero (osea, sigue retenido). Total, 24 días de retención de la fianza. Me parece exagero por haber alquilado un coche dos días. No podéis cambiar vuestra política de devoluciones en favor del cliente? Si quisiera alquilaros nuevamente un coche en estos días, no lo haría con vosotros porque mi fianza sigue retenida. Por favor, acelerar este trámite y ponéroslo más fácil. Gracias
First Time in Norway – Excellent Getaround Experience
It was our first time visiting Norway and also our first experience using the Getaround service. Everything went smoothly — the car we rented from the owner was great value for money and made our trip very convenient and enjoyable. We would highly recommend the owner and would be happy to rent the same car again in the future.
Poor experience
I was misled by the owner regarding the cost of extra miles, and the owner has refused to amend the cost on the app. Unfortunately, the customer service has been unhelpful and has failed to resolve the issue. I specifically asked if there were any alternative channels I could contact regarding my case instead of going through customer service, but the representative, Lucia (Senior Customer Support Agent at Getaround), refused to provide any information. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with this experience, as my concerns have not been addressed and I feel that both transparency and accountability are lacking in this process. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE THIS SERVICE!

Getaround macht erst einmal einen guten Eindruck, jedoch bei längerer Nutzung als Vermieter gibt es doch einiges zu bemängeln. Zum einen dass Mieter bis 48h vor Anmietung kostenlos stornieren können, für Mieter schön, für Vermieter evtl. nicht. Mehr aber stören die extrem hohen Abzüge an Getaround (25%!) dazu kommt noch eine Gebühr von 19€ für die Connect Nutzung. Bei Schäden überhaupt keine Hilfe oder Einsicht. Unser Auto kommt oft dreckig von Anmietungen zurück, gibt man dies nicht innerhalb von 48h in der App an gibt es keine Möglichkeit für eine Entschädigung mehr.

Todo de 10 porque no se les puede poner más estrellas..Tenía mis dudas al principio en cuanto alquilar en una aplicación pero al final ha sido todo un descubrimiento . Lo recomiendo sin lugar a dudas !!!! Servicio,trato,coche, Comunicación constante con ellos en todo momento porsi habían dudas de algún tipo durante el alquiler. Vamos que repetiremos con ellos !!!!

When I first used this it was like AirBnB for cars and a good deal.Now people want 30% more than recognised hire companies for an old car like a 2011 Peugeot 207!

For det meste en oversiktlig og brukervennlig app. Avventer en skadesak før jeg vet om jeg er fornøyd. Det var vanskelig å laste opp fil i appen etter bompenger. Jeg fikk ikke lagt inn pdf filen fra Acrobat og brukte mye tid å penger i forsøket.
Recommends cars outside desired pickup area
When searching for a car available within a certain pickup and dropoff (airport) the app recommended cars 40 mins away rather than to keep search in requested area. Need to update their search metadata to prevent issues when selecting truly applicable cars.

Broken verification process
as others already pointed out, once i finally was able to upload the documents required for the verification process (after trying multiple times with the app constantly crashing) I am told a manual verification will take place in the upcoming 2h. it’s been over 12 and still nothing. tried contacting support but again crashes when you submit your request. i’ve had one good rental experience in the past hence why not a 1 star.

Great company and concept
I have rented 3 cars now from Getaround. 2 were perfect. Even got a quick refund when I filled more than was in the tank. Without asking too. Problem was the second. An MG ZS. Instructions were wrong. It implied a code for a keypad and was only in Belgian. Was inside a locked parking garage with no access apart from prepaid QRcode scan and no answer for the parking helpline. I snuck into the adjoining building and accessed a very dingy unsafe garage via steep dirty stairs. The vehicle was there but would not open despite two hours trying and calls to Getaround and owner. The vehicle was locked manually and I could not access it so had to cancel and rent a different vehicle after a number of calls and two wasted hours. Getaround were great. Not their fault the car was manually locked rather than just with the app but they need to fix that process. They refunded my rental without argument after a quick review. Will definitely use them again.
Verification part of app is faulty
The app is very beta. It faults during the ID verification, so rethink a car is not possible. Also, the app requires a second expired driving license, so if you are traveling and do not have one with you, do not try.

Das update der App funktioniert nur mit IOS 16 oder später - die App ist also mit dem iPhone 7 und darunter nicht mehr nutzbar. Sehr schade. Eine Browser basierte Lösung wäre von Vorteil gewesen. (@Apple: Nachhaltigkeit sollte anders aussehen!)
Easy car rental
I love Getaround. It has some lovely cars and it’s so easy to book and pick up the cars.
Buggy
A lot of functionalities not working: cannot contact support (getting kicked out of the app), cannot verify profile (ditto), very frustrating experience
Car pick up and return
It was quite difficult to pick up the car and return the car, as the instructions were only in French, and did not have an option to have English translation. This was compounded by the fact that there was no Internet access at the -3 parking level, so we had to go to ground level translate all the instructions, and then go back down to get the car. Both the pick up and Return was a stressful one hour activity. The car we got worked great, but was very dirty. It seems that it should be cleaned between renters!
Misrepresentation
Description lists London (UK) as a location in which this app operates. After downloading and setting up, app states that service is not operating in the country (UK) yet.
iOS 16.4 or later???? WHY!!!!!!
Since the app now only allows ios16.4 or later I can no longer use the service. I’m not buying a new phone just to use the service and I used to use it quite a lot. Moves like this a just insane!

Crash of app
Every time I tried to start my rental the app crashed. I was on the phone to getaround for several hours…. and then all they said was that if I cannot start it then all they can do is refund me. Really not helpful when you book a car in advance for a long holiday. On top of this when I tried to start the rental it told me I am not verified. Which was not true literally 5 minutes earlier…… no prior information was sent that I need to verify myself. Literally happened when I was at the car to pick it up. When I called them about this they told me I need to re-verify myself because I logged in from another device. Again only used my phone just logged in through the website because I was trying to start my rental in anyway considering that the app was crashing. I could not even send a help request through the app because it also crashed. Then when I was trying to verify myself it did not let me use my hungarian national address card to verify my address. Idk what else is more proof then that. Considering that I am staying with my parents I pay no bills or anything so I had no other proof. Honestly horrendous experience. I used them before and it was no problem but after this I am not sure I will ever use them considering how stressful it is to turn up to your holiday and then not being sure if you can rent a car or not.
Clever app makes hiring a car easy
Never used the app before but it works very well. We used pick-up without the owner present - the photos of the car you are required to take gives you peace of mind about any existing damage on the car, and your phone opens the car which is cool. Geolocation tool on the app works well - we went straight to the car and were guided back to the drop-off point. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is the standard excess is extremely high and isn’t explained until you go through the payment process, where you get a hard sell of paying extra to bring it down. It isn’t a very honest approach and I think Getaround should change their way of quoting a price, either bringing the atandard excess down or being clear upfront what the excess is at the time of quoting.

Hi there, your FB ad links don’t work, they don’t open the app. Try using a proper linking platform, adjust links never open the app.
Great idea but needs more quality control
I’ve used and continue to use Getaround as it’s a great idea. You can hire cars that are just a few streets away, the rental period is flexible, you can filter vehicles via your preferences, the app is very straightforward and the pricing is reasonable. However, there is no real quality control in place or routine cleaning of vehicles between rentals (even when there have been days since a car was last rented out so it’s not a time issue). So you need to be prepared for cars that are grubby , broken air-conditioning and have some dents and scratches. Cars have always run well and I’ve never been concerned about safety etc or had any issues with unfair penalties or fines. It feels like a ‘friendly’ service rather than just focused on making as much money from you as possible. I continue to use them , just wish there was better quality control on the condition of the cars (nb: I think this issue only relates to cars which are purely for renting out vs someone’s personal car they share when they’re not using it themselves.) UPDATE: Does anyone else think the Developer Response misses the point?!
