Great for commission earners
Working in sales, my after-tax income varies each month. This allows me to accurately calculate my take home pay, factoring in pension contributions from my base salary and my tax code. It takes me seconds to input my commission to know what I’ll be paid, and it’s very accurate (maybe 0.5-1% difference to the figure that hits my bank). Highly recommend! I’ve happily paid for the ad-free version and have used this for around 2+ years. I personally use the multi-income salary to enter my base, then select a second PAYE income for comms. You can select a fixed amount for pension contributions based on the salary sacrifice %, but there’s other options for different types of earnings or contributions.
Doesn’t work in some circumstances
I bought this app a few weeks ago and now regret it. If you use any additional tax allowances, for instance, Marriage Allowance, it will not calculate tax on savings interest correctly. I’ve emailed them about this but have had no response. Beware!
Great App
Been using this for around a year now and works tax out correctly, only thing I would ask (unless I can’t see it) is there a way to calculate bonus on top of wages instead of adding to yearly wage??

Didn’t use it once. I instantly remove any app that insists of those stupid opt out data collection cookies. Time the government insists on a OPT IN policy or enforce a ONE CLICK DENY ALL button.
Dated
I have had this App for number of years and it was always spot on. I even paid for add free. However since Tax year 22-23 I find this app isn’t as accurate as it once was. **Update**after speaking with the developer I understand some of this was out due to the increase in NIC and also as it doesn’t take into account automatically the pension tax relief. It is possible to go into the app and do a payslip calculator which is slightly more accurate, however I always liked the quick and easy part of this. Either way I think this is still the best version of the UK Tax Calculator around.
Misleading for high earners
If your income is above £100k the app fails to show the loss of the personal allowance at a rate of £1 for every £2 earned above £100k Suspect there will be other issues too
Used to be good…
I tried to open this app recently and it kept attempting to load and then said there was a connection error. I tried to load it with my phone data as well just in case there was potentially a problem with my router. Nope. It’s a problem with the app. Like I said, this was a good app. Please sort it out! I’ve given 3 stars because of how good it used to be otherwise I’d have given 1.

This App is good but has no provision for Tax Coded Out from a previous year. It’s only good for calculating tax in the current Financial Year. Needs a bit more development.

This app used to be great, very accurate. It’s now way off for me, however much I try. A shame as I’ve used it for years
Consistently accurate and updated
I’ve been using this app for a few years now and it has been very helpful. It is always updated and very easy to use which means you can test a number of scenarios to compare which options have a financial advantage.
Great App. However....
Seems excellent however I have a couple of issues with the multiple income section I need to use. 1). I need to add Interest as GROSS however there is no option (in Multiple Incomes) to do so. All options are NET. This ruins all calculations for me. If it could be corrected then I’d gladly pay to remove adds. 2) Small gripe. I don’t seem to be able to edit an entry. Only delete and create a new one. Which just seems very odd. Update after Dev Response. Thanks, but my point is that there is simply no way to enter GROSS numbers. I understand I need to, but there is no option to. All sections are labelled NET.
A comprehensive app but incorrect taxable amount
The app is very useful. It should be 5 star but the calculated taxable amount is incorrect for a single income option. This leads to an incorrect the total taxed and then the net income values. It explained the confusion of other reviewers when comparing the app’s results with HMRC calculations. It is worth to double check this with different tax code and with other options.
Not bad
Not bad app, but could have few more options. I Don’t mind to pay more for the app if have those options: - pension as salary sacrifice with option to enter as % - bonus as both absolute or % figure - Restricted stock units
No NI Calculation
I like this app and everything very accurate EXCEPT NI! No matter what I do, it refuses to deduct any national insurance contributions. Hope HMRC follow suit :) Update. Looks like just a threshold thing. My retirement age is 66 and the app thinks it’s 65. If I change the DOB on by one year, it works fine. Very quick reply from the developer. 👍
2019/20 tax codes not updated
It’s a good app, but we’re almost in June and despite updating the app as requested for the 2019/20 tax codes my salary is still being calculated using 11850 instead of 12500.
This could be perfect but..
Why does it calculate so differently from HMRC? I called them today to query my tax as this calculates differently and they were unable to say why only that it’s wrong.
It’s England only tax
This is an excellent app, simple & very useful. However it only calculates pay using English tax allowances & doesn’t have the ability to calculate the Scottish PAYE tax levels which are different. As I live in Scotland this is obviously what I need & there are no app calculators including this so definitely a need for this.

Useful but needs updating
Says updated for the 2019/20 tax year however personal allowance os still set at £11850. Needs updating to £12500 (should have been done in April)
Other allowances/deductions
Hi, Excellent app, tried tinkering with the settings and noticed any value added to the above section in settings, doesn’t add or take away from the total. Not sure if it’s a bug, tried (-53.19)… -53.19… But the box always shows “0” and doesn’t affect the total.
