The best
best app if you want to climb outdoors. youll find so many routes you never would have known about. amazing amount of users that drop routes and betas, and give a bunch of info abt routes
Most recent version 4.7.6 (Build 1580) not working
Newest version 4.7.6 released 9/2/26 constantly syncs and does not operate properly. Virtually unusable currently
Forums
What happened to the forums portal web link feature? This critical feature was the most used part of the app for many. Please restore
Forums Please
Need to bring back forums to the mobile app
Every update breaks the app
Please stop "fixing" the app. Otherwise mp is a great app. Im just frequently annoyed with it
Don’t Miss Book Guides
Much better than the days of carrying around heavy books that were ever going out of date.
Used to be great
Ever since OnX bought it it has gone down hill. Removing forums, removing the ability to comment in the app, and frequent crashes. Wish there was an alternative.
What’s good, what can be improved.
I enjoy using this app for my own personal use to be able to keep track of things I climb and desire to climb. The navigation is fairly straightforward and easy to go back to. What I would like to see is the ability to leave comments about the route just like the website allows.
Duplicating Tick & Technical Errors
App now duplicates ticks. Had to delete the app and update on website. Lost all my saved areas.
Buggy, more so as of late!
Bugs: double tick created on a tick, “routes” Nextdoor always defaults to the first route in the area Love the idea of the app and contribute on website
Add personal photos
Yoo you guys should definitely add a setting for us to add photos that app devs approve of so we can all share experiences
Forum removed :(
I miss the forum section
Well designed app and great content
Well designed app allowing quick finding of the data. Great user provided content
They removed the forum tab from the app
App is still great for beta and route info but forum are no longer accessible from the app, bummer. Nice to find partners, gear, etc. on the forums.
Do more, OnX. Please.
This could be such a great app. It’s a decent app that comes from a good website. But the functionality needs to be implemented more. So many features on the website need to be brought to the app. Adding images to a route? Details on when crags are shaded or in the sun? The little things. And make it more navigable.

Many bugs and inconveniences
The "Routes next door" feature is maddening to use. It doesn't show the route next door because it shows the leftmost route at the entire crag. A large crag like North Forty can have over 100 routes so you constantly need to scroll. This is a simple feature, just show the current route so one doesn't need to scroll back to your place. This and lots of other glitches makes for a frustrating day
Good app
Great app— extremely helpful for climbers. A sun map feature would be good, and I’m also having trouble deleting sections from my downloaded areas. It seems the trash button is just unresponsive.
Bring back forum access!
I hope this issue can be resolved.
Bring back forum access on the app
Forum access is useful for partner finder, sales forum, etc. It seems odd to take away access to these basic features of the site.
Best app for touching rocks
If you do any sort of rock climbing outdoors this app is a must. Been using it for years and have saved so much time finding routes and planning worthwhile climbing trips
Repeating ticks bug
Please fix the bug that automatically ticks a climb hundreds to times!!
Can’t log in to mp account without on x
After an update the app will no longer allow me to log into my existing mountain project account without having an OnX account. I do not have the problem on android so I’m not sure why the experience is different for iOS. This needs to be fixed as I do not have an OnX account.
Forums
They took away forums. Wish they didn’t do that
Better than the Bible
Title says it all
Downhill
Slow and clunky to the point of being unusable. Used to work fine but whatever they’ve added under the hood since Onx bought it has made it useless.
2 stars for trying to push OnX on users
The app hides the GPS coordinates intentionally to prevent users from using anything but OnX mobile. Just publish the gps coordinates
No Forum Access
Needs forum access.
One of the best out there
This app is not perfect, but it’s pretty darn near to it I’ve gone places that locals have never seen because of this app and has allowed me to climb all over the country. It’s not strong for international, but it’s amazing for the US.
Crashes immediately on iOS 15.8.8
Displays splash screen and then exits immediately. Boo. This OS version is not end of life and should still be supported.
Decent, map & search 4/10 or should I say 1/4 lol. Rest 9/10.
Map is always SO inaccurate Kaya’s is way better but you have to pay for it. And the search engines so silly & glitchy like right now its only showing places I have downloaded when Im 100% on good wifi. Gradings only from 1-4 stars. Definitely tons of room for improvement.
Invaluable
The app for climbing in Cali. Don't know what I'd do without it.
Bring back forum
Remove the forum, which is an incredibly important feature, and didn’t communicate at all with anyone. BRING BACK THE FORUM!!!!
The climbing app!
If you climb outdoors, get this app. Simple as that. The ui could be less clunky, but it works
No Forum on app
The forums are my favorite part of Mtn Project, and it is much more of a hassle to get to them on the website with them now removed from the app. Would give the old version of the app 5 stars
Should be on every climbers phone
Not a replacement for a guide book, but lots of great info on more popular crags/boulder areas.
forums
I used this app daily. Until they removed the number #1 reason why I use the app… they removed the forums section over a month ago. I thought it was a bug but there has been no communication.
