Love the app. Strava integration broken though
I absolutely love this app. The accuracy of auto tracking is fantastic. UX is really well designed and easy to use. The only problem I have right now is that the Strava integration has been broken for a month. Hope that can be fixed soon!
Strava integration
Been broken for 2 months. Sent a support email and still waiting for a fix. Disappointed as a subscriber.
Great but hasn’t improved much recently
The app is great for logging my climbs. Love the ability to add my own grades as the nearby gyms use their own custom rankings. Its a shame the lifetime membership has been removed. I was hoping to use that after buying an initial 1 year membership to see how much I use the app. Please could this be reinstated. Frustratingly I have emailed a few times using the built in feature of the app to get new places added however none of these have been added to the list of gyms in the app.
Problems linking with Strava
Have used the app for a few years (free version). Really liked it and all worked well. However, it has stopped uploading my data into Strava, even if I try to do it manually. Contacted customer support but nothing heard.
No response from Support
Strava integration stopped working. I’ve emailed Support several times and got no response.

I had some unknown issues with strava, never figured out how to fix it. Looked around and found Redpoint. AMAZING app for climbing. Thank you for making this app!
Sync doesnt work
Sync to strava has been buggy for years. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. You can try all the troubleshooting you find on the internet it simply wont work for a while. Then itll work couple weeks later. These devs do not respond to emails or reviews quickly. I dont understand how they never added a manual sync or manual upload feature for years now.
Incredible app but found one issue
I am loving the app and tracking my climbs. It is a nearly perfect app, but if I forget to unpause or start a session and then want go back to add an ascent, it won’t let me add -it simply edits the last ascent and doesn’t change or add anything.
No responses from admin support
I was stoked when I tried this app for the first time while traveling for work. We just got a local gym this year so when I got back home, I was disappointed to see it was lot listed in the app yet. They do offer a way to notify the admin that there is a gym missing…..I’ve tried 4 times now with no luck. If they don’t respond to those requests, then how are people with new local gyms suppose to make use of the app?
Can’t consistently log grades from watch app
Good app, but I can’t consistently log my grades from the watch. Whenever I leave the tracking screen to pause my workout or change the music I can’t seem to get back to grade controls. I also have ended up in a situation where some of my boulders are rated on YDS and can’t fix them. Needs a little polish.
So far so good, just have one issue
Hey! Love the app, however my gym isn’t showing up when I search it, and the “add missing info?” Button either doesn’t work or crashes the app. Please fix this!

Great App needs some bug fixes
Great app which I’ve been using for several years. Recent version is stuck in metric and won’t read out in imperial units (feet etc).
Lost quite a few sessions through crashes
Good app when it works: but crashes so regularly, I’ve lost quite few sessions to the ether!
No response
App is decent but developers never respond. My gyms are not listed, the ones that are have been closed for years. Emailed several times over the past year, no answer and no fix.
Awesome Free Climbing App
What could be better? A free app to help track your climbing. I love this thing, even though it doesn’t have the newest gym near my house yet. It keeps track of all the climbs accurately. Whoever created this did a thoughtful, creative job to build a useful tracker. I haven’t tried it outside yet but that is coming soon.
Locking up
Won’t transfer climbs from watch to phone. Also now locking up on me. Wont do anything when I tap the screen. Paid for year of service. Waste of money
Great app, but has a couple of bugs
Tracking climbs in this app is super simple and the integration on the Apple Watch with health kit is awesome. Those points alone were enough for me to go in on the subscription. My only issue so far is that my height ascended data appears correctly on my Apple Watch, but on the phone it seems bugged pretty badly. Hopefully they’re aware and are able to get it fixed.
Buggy
Stops logging mid-session if you take a 5 minute break. Does not consistently upload to strava. Random crashes, losing your whole session. Now shows a mix of imperial/metric units when imperial is selected. Sometimes you cannot tap on an old session to view details. Cannot imagine paying for this if the basic features do not work.
Best climbing app currently
For iPhone version need an easier way to set grades before climbing. The calories expended often seem estimated high when the data is synced back to phone. Really needs an alert to stop the app when leaving the gym! Have inadvertently left on many occasions. Overall great effort and appreciated!
LOVE THIS APP
Thank you for addressing that bug so quickly for the altitude!!! I have a Vertix 2 I use for running and tried the climbing app on there in the meantime, since there's really nothing else in the App Store that compares to this for distance measurement, and it still didn't log and work as easily and clearly as your app does. Thanks for the work you've put into this!
My Apple Watch Series 7 isn’t working with the app
I was extremely excited to log all my climbs and altitudes gained this year with their app but my Apple Watch Series 7 doesn’t seem to work with this app. Should the app be working on my series of Apple watch? I have given the app every single permission asked by the app. Please help.
Useful, but kills watch battery
Have been using this for bouldering sessions for a few months and it has been great for tracking and capturing data, but have noticed that if you leave the app running (but not recording a climb) on your watch (i.e. you don’t explicitly kill it) the watch battery drains much faster. Something isn’t right in the watch app code as a background app shouldn’t be hitting the battery like this. If you kill the app through the task manager on the watch then battery life jumps back up.
Cancelled Membership
Was the best climbing app but not tracking distance correctly any longer on Apple Watch. Have reached out to advise of issue but haven’t received response in month or so. I guess the app is no longer updated as noted by other reviews. Wish had cancelled before renewal date. I guess I can just log grades now but there are other apps that are free that can do that.
Not quite there yet
I love the idea but it was really buggy for me when I tried it. There really is no other climbing tracker for iOS, so if this worked it would be awesome. Maybe if I had a smartwatch, it would be better, but running it on my phone wasn’t working well, so I gave up.
Update - March 21 - Working Again!
My previous review stated the app didn’t work, but it looks like it has started working again! Great app for automatically tracking climbs
So good until recent update
Workouts no longer log at all. It constantly restarts if I try to return to my watch Home Screen. I can’t change from sport to top rope without it restarting.
this was the best climbing fitness tracker until the update
however it’s been broken since iOS 17.4 and the subsequent WatchOS updates. really hope the bug is resolved.
Has a potential
I was excited to find this app. Unfortunately it keeps crashing anytime I switch to sport climbing. It only sees ascents for bouldering. When I choose sport, it records it as bouldering with no ascents.
Needs Updates
It is a functional app but has issues. The one that affects me the most is switching between top rope/sport climbing to bouldering. The app will register I changed the type of climb but will retain the rating system from the first choice ie if I start bouldering, then switch to top rope, top rope attempts would be logged with the V system. I don’t have any faith that doing it that way would track correctly, so this requires ending a session and starting a new one every time I switch. Outdoors this isn’t an issue at all but at my favorite gym I have bouldering, top rope and lead available and friends who do a little bit of each so it’s very common for me to do all 3 in a session. Please fix I want to keep supporting the app but would like to see an update!

Crashes, can’t get it to download on Apple Watch again
iPhone app keeps crashing, can’t continuously track a session. Had it downloaded on Apple Watch, but can’t get it to download again since iPhone keeps crashing (14 Pro if that matters)
The app stopped tracking ascends… and back again
After the complete silence, the app was updated with a different solution to work around the bug in iOS/watchOS. I’ve used the app today for a sport climbing session. During the first session it still did not record the ascends even if I approved the new permission. I stopped the session, killed the app, started a new session and I was happy to see it working. I haven’t tried it yet for bouldering. I do appreciate getting a fix for the app. I also have to admit that getting an acknowledgment when reporting the issue (and not the radio silence) would’ve made this situation much easier to deal with. I know that for a single person business this might sound like extra effort, but knowing the app is still cared for by a simple “I’m looking into this” response is reassuring.
No longer tracks ascended height
The workaround from the developer does not work. I haven’t been able to track for months. Honestly, I wouldn’t subscribe until they get it fixed.
Unusable with latest update
This used to be a solid app I could count on to record progress. Now it doesn’t reliably record routes, and when I try to manually input routes that it fails to detect, it just overwrites the latest route rather than appending a new route to the session. Please fix. I’m a paid subscriber, so I’d like this to be fixed before auto renewing.
Awesome for training / logging activities- add dry tooling?
Would be awesome if there was a dedicated dry tooling category. There is an M rating but you have to pick between M or WI for ice climbing? No dry tooling section and dedicated D rating.
Used to love the app, but nonstop working
Not sure what’s going on, but all of a sudden the app won’t track any climbs anymore. Messaged customer support a couple times and he still hasn’t gotten back or fix the problem. Then over a month.
Great app!
Only been using this app for a couple of weeks but first impressions are good. Lots of interesting data, syncing between the watch and the phone is slick and the interface on both devices is intuitive. Couple of points stopping it getting 5 stars, when switching between disciplines I’ve found that the grading system doesn’t update so if for example you start out bouldering using the Hueco system and then change to top roping, you can only choose V grades for your routes. Second is that the app on the watch has crashed a couple of times. The data is still synced with the phone so nothing lost, but I’ve had to start a new session on the watch. Otherwise, really enjoying it!
Needs some love from the developer recently
This was a five star that I often recommended to fellow climbers looking to track their ascents both inside gyms and outdoors. There are some outstanding bugs related to editing ascents, specifically one that doesn’t allow you to commit the changes properly. Another bug causes the app to freeze when you attempt to switch disciplines. And, ss of March 2024, the altitude recording doesn’t work on a first gen Ultra. This would be a 5 star app if it worked like it used to last year.

Great Climbing App!
I've been using Redpoint for about a month now and I'm quite impressed! Tracks routes pretty accurately (with the occasional error) and does so automatically with no need to touch the watch unless you're inputting grade. This app also uses the Action button on the ultra, something I wish more apps would do.
Getting buggier and buggier
- altimeter doesnt work anymore - randomly switches bet ft and m - can’t really add/edit ascents, changes dont stick - crashes when trying to open settings on phone - developer unresponsive to email
Love this but needs some work
Love Redpoint, I use is every session. There are some reliability issues though. Today in particular both my climbing partner and I attempted to use the “switch disciplines” feature from ropes to bouldering but the grades available for us to select did not change from YDS to Hueco. Overall though it’s a great app that does what it says on the tin.
Has let itself down
I orginally started using this and it worked out really well. Ive been using it fo 2 years now. A few problems with it. *New phone device set up doesnt always sync the data, I lost a years worth of data with no support from the developer. Now that really hacked me off as it was my first ever year of climbing and I had really relevant measures in there to look back on for training. *The grading tends to default back to it orignal setting rather than stay on the one chosen. *The height swops between m and ft on its own during use. * What is the point of having 'bouldering' and 'top rope' as separate climbs you can switch between, when the app just amalgamates them as the same climb rather than two different measures or grades. You could do a boulder at 4a and a top rope at 6c but the app doesnt allow you to log two grades, only one. I have emailed the developer at least 3 times now and havent had any response (initially they were quite response in the beginning). I use the app as a guide but now my data is all written in a log book. Frustrated and disappointed as this had the potential to be a good app but the developer just doesnt respond - its been months!! I wont be promoting or using the app as my main log as its too unreliable and loses data.
This app is a great starting point but not perfect
My two biggest gripes with this app are that you can’t delete a session if you accidentally start one by accident. Secondly when using the app on the Apple Watch your climbing grade is stuck with which ever discipline you start your session with. (Start bouldering then switch to top rope and you can only log routes under V scale not YDS). If they fixed this it would be a 5star app

It does an amazing job of automatically tracking my climbs. It’s exactly what I was looking for in a climbing app. Great Apple Watch integration.

Great app and fun for tracking. Some Improvements i would like to see Its pretty bad at tracking ascended distance telling me the ascent was only 3 feet. Or 10ft. For a top rope or sport. Also when i switch disciplines to bouldering it does not Give me the correct grades but still in 5.10. I have to end the work out and start a bouldering session in order to have the correct v scale grading. Exciting to see this develop more.

Great app but some problems behind the paywall
A lot of great functions here and would be happy to give 5 starts if not for the following issues - app crashes when hiding an ascent (would be nice to just delete them) - not able to track projects. You can log each attempt and send with great tags (though no on-site tag) but would be nice to be able to track them in projects for example ( 2 attempts and 1 send on a particular V4) - visual layout of data would be great to see in bar graphs but that’s more nitpicky than anything.
