Online DMN
I’m loving the online DMN! I easily read the newspaper on my IPhone every day! Whoever came up with this is a genius and deserves a raise! I’m 78 years old & have always read the DMN with my coffee. Now I read on my IPhone! This is awesome.
Not working on IPad
The app opens but I can’t read the paper because it doesn’t recognize my subscription. Completely useless so I’ll have to end my subscription to DMN!
More golf !
Longtime subscriber! Enjoy digital version when out of town! Pete Ryan
Keeps reloading
The app regularly reloads and takes you back to the opening screen. Just turning off the iPad screen and turning it back on reloads the paper. Downloading also doesn’t work well as it often loses the download.
Customer Service?
We’ve been subscribers for over 40 years. Changed to digital (app) just after Covid. We’re having issues and have left messages and emails and haven’t heard back in 5 days. I getting my app, but husband’s is not responsive.
Love it

WORST App Around
Why do I pay for a subscription to the absolute worst app out there? It is super glitchy, forces a login for EVERY article that comes through “breaking news” alerts, and then errors out before the article can be read. Whoever designed this app should be fired.
Unkind to subscribers!
Very difficult for subscribers to open digital news stories online.😡
Made Good App bad
Unreliable app. Today, June 14, 2026 not available.
No search function
I have noticed this going to the website too. There is no way to search for an article. Kind of frustrating. Am I missing it?
Love this paper
Love the reporting
Adequate app; poor customer service
You can’t get rid of the bar at the top and bottom of the app. Customer service is horrible.
Back to Earlier Performance
Overall this is a pretty good app. Recently there had been a general “update” that has now mostly returned to my preferred look and navigation.

E-edition
Thank you for changing the format back to the almost original online format
Superb local resource and institution
Blessed to have such good writers and researchers working on local news. Save city hall!
This sucks
What have you done? I hate this!!!
New E-News is Not User-Friendly
I hope that this review is actually captured and submitted after writing it. The new e-newspaper format is not working as simply as the previous format - links do not connect (e.g. printing an article or crossword puzzle, emailing an article, etc.). The internet format and reading format do not sync well, and I’m often kicked out of the edition that I’m reading and have to start over again. What was the News trying to accomplish with this new format? It’s almost to the point that we are seriously considering cancelling the DMN e-paper which is a shame, because we do like receiving daily news, sports, and entertainment, IF we can access it.
Hearst ruined it
There was an update after the DMN was acquired by Hearst. I imagine they moved the content to the platform that other Hearst owned papers are on. It was a downgrade. The new app is extremely buggy. For example, last Sunday the Sunday edition disappeared from the app several times. I opened the app and Saturday was the most recent edition. Sometimes the navigation allows you to jump to a particular section of the paper other times you can only jump to the first page or the last page. When there are 86 pages to the Sunday paper it is very inconvenient to go through 40 pages to get to the Business section. Finally, you can’t copy and paste text from the app anymore. Sometimes I quote the DMN in my social media posts, always giving credit, but now to do that I have to type the entire passage. I’m very dissatisfied with this app.
Issues while overseas
The app seems to work fine while I’m in the USA, but he issues with it overseas. Also, it used to be so easy to download the paper to read off-line. What happened to that easy option?
Great paper, great app
Local news is so vital, and this paper has more than paid for itself! Definitely recommend a subscription if you live in Texas, they’ve had some great coverage and reporting that I’m always sharing with people and telling them they need a subscription! :) but local elections, during the COVID crisis, changes to schools, laws/changes, news that isn’t reported other places and if it is it’s not from a local perspective. Like when giving Ice more funding was up for a vote, I wanted to know about it! Newest lawsuit from Paxton, Texas summer camps not getting approved. Local news is vital to democracy, if you don’t know what’s going on, then you won’t be ready when say, you get the email your local elementary school is closing and you want to know why and what happened in an unbiased way that isn’t left or right but facts. Like did you know it’s being worked on so there’s Bible verses in the new Blue Bonnet curriculum for schools for Texas? There’s an article about that, multiple. You can search with their search function. Oncor power grid updates, water plans so north Texas doesn’t run out (we could if they don’t make good choices) are they making the right choices? Search up the article! Don’t read Facebook from your uncle, read from professional unbiased reporters who report what you need to know and not just “click bait”. Save your brain, save democracy, read the local paper!
Dallas morning need
So liberal. Most story’s are written off the wire. If I could get business and sports that’s all I would buy. This is a 10 minute newspaper. No value…….i think since it was sold is gotten worst wick I thought was impossible..
New online format
I hate it. I want to see the whole page at one time.
iPad version does not fill page.
See title
Outlay
Who ever has planned the outlay of the paper is crazy Putting real estate in arts and where are the columnists I can’t find Chris Elliot or the car guy the paper is all miss-mash and you have to hunt for Usual topics Obviously editor doesn’t read the paper
Pretty Good
Pretty Good
New update no good
Cannot stand the new update. If you have to take a call or review an email or text, it resets and takes you back to front page and you have to start all over. Pain in the rear. Formatting is off frequently as well. Don’t these people test anything before releasing? And so many spelling errors in paper these days.
Too big for screen
Paper display is way bigger than screen resulting in having to scroll down on every page to read the paper. There is no option to have paper size fit screen. Suggested solution is to go to settings and view on internet browser. Older version was way better.
App not working
Not working at all this week. Guess there is a problem. I have the latest iPad update.
DMN anywhere
I like this app because I can read the DMN anywhere.
Stopping Billing
I have been a subscriber to the print edition for more than 20 yrs , I wanted to keep my e edition and cancel the automated withdrawals from my checking account , there is no way to get in touch with any human , they constantly just hang up , I finally think I succeeded on line but got a paper today and went online and it says I have no subscription even though I last paid may 7th , what kind of service is this , none !!
I Miss the Old App
The latest update has ruined my reading experience. My subscription cost continues to climb and now I have ads that take up 30% of my viewing screen at all times.
Upgrade makes app worse
I liked this app much better before the last update. I used to be able to see just the article text and felt more like reading an actual newspaper. Now icons remain at the top of the page and there does not seem to be a way to get rid of them. I find it very distracting and unappealing visually. I would much prefer the option to open a single article without anything else on my screen.
Very disappointed
Long time subscriber. I cannot figure out how to get signed in on the new app. Always get an error message. When using app to read digital paper and I leave the app it takes me back to main page when I return. I have cancelled my subscription over this. Too much hassle when there are so many easy ways to consume news.
Hearst messed up a good app
The new owners of the DMN changed the app to the generic Hearst app with the DMN masthead. The removed many great features including the ability to go to a section like sports and then filter for a team.
DMN - May 12, 2026 Update
HATS OFF to the guys that put together the updates that came in yesterday for the DMN app. Nice job. Addresses almost every issue in my posts on Apr 3 and Apr 10. Still see a few bug fixes missing. Otherwise, it’s finally getting back to the DYNAMITE app that got destroyed with the Apr 1 update
Used to be a good app
They changed the app and now it’s is terrible. I am going to cancel my subscription. It used to be so good but hey let’s fix what’s not broken. Terrible.
Tech problems
Too touch sensitive on the iPad. No longer able to print NYT crossword puzzle. No longer able to go directly to desired section of the paper, must go page by page by page…. Most “articles “ belong in the editorial section.
New software
I cannot go directly to a section I’m interested in reading and my request for help has not been answered.
Go back
Initial change to the app was great then the changes started to happen. Yesterday was the worst! Now it jumps to unselected pages and cuts off the edges of the text.
