Too many spam notifications
Wow these guys will spam you with every irrelevant marketing / investment notification possible. There’s no way to filter out alerts directly relevant to your account or the other junk they bombard you with. I’m glad they’re only my back up account bc this is pretty annoying. I wouldn’t move any substantial money into this bank as a result of this nuisance.

Cumbersome and Annoying
The app experience itself is fine once you get logged in, but the whole login process is trash. Between the app forgetting your Face ID or forcing you to login with the password every so often I end up spending more time logging in than actually using the app. Awhile back they decided it was a good idea to not let you paste your password in the box. I have a VERY secure 16+ digit random password, this is a massive pain in the butt to log in when you can’t see what you have typed and you can’t paste into the password box. I’m not sure what attack vector they think they are protecting me against, but with all the two-factor confirmations their service sends when any change is made, I find it hard to believe this change is doing anything but annoying users.

I can’t understand SC could make such a horrible app, making clients almost impossible to use its banking and investment service! Shame on you! Hire some great engineers and PM to fit it!

Useless
Quite possibly the worst app and bank I’ve had to deal with. Such a long queue to have general enquiries dealt with at the branch and even after my card still does not work. Unable to register for both this app and on desktop, only to be told I have to go back the branch to get this sorted. Honestly anyone considering this bank please just go bank elsewhere other than here. Rubbish
Two issues
One: whenever I receive a notification to approve a connection, I have to re identify and the notification gets lost. Two: why no night mode app logo?
App is user friendly
For tech dummy like me, the app is easy to log in and read through, it up design is clean unique. The only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars is because their CS call me when I try to explore more about the app, which is little creepy.

Worst banking app
Of all the banking apps that I have from US and Hong Kong this by far is the worst. How is it that you cannot remember my login name? Why can’t I use my device devices store passwords? Did the product managers think that this is the only app I use in my life? It’s 2025 and ridiculous that the password does not accept special characters. Am I really suppose to use a special inferior password just for this one app??

I had expected better from standard chartered. From the endless forced verification codes and upgrades, to not being able to find out how to even PAY the credit card bill from anywhere in the app (not even in the FAQ), you start to feel like they want to make it hard for people to pay off their cards. Come on guys, you can do better.

OTP for Mobile Key
Setting up the app on a new phone with non-HK number and waiting for a SMS OTP for hours. By this time, obviously the login flow has timed out making it impossible to login. Called the bank and they said there’s nothing they can do and I can conveniently check my account via web login.
Credit card balance
After I paid, the balance should show that I paid , very confusing !
It has dumb UI elements.
The floaty circle is always in the wrong place and interferes with the features of the app I actually want to use. Security protections in the app are ridiculous. A one time mistake locked me out of my account even though I passed the security app checks. Had to go on hold with a real person for an hour. App likes to waste your time. Will try to switch to Citibank in the near future. Heard they are better. The only good thing is the QR cash feature.
Does Not Work With 1Password
App needs to be updated to point to SC Hong Kong website such that 1Password password manager will recognize it is Standard Chartered HK upon opening the app and prompt to enter the password.

One I installed this on my iPad, every time I try to log into my AC on the website it needs me to approve it on my iPad! This is terrible! I don’t always have my iPad with me and it does not always have WiFi either, there seems to be no way to delink it, even after I uninstall the app! Extremely bad design. Now I cannot access my account if my iPad is not with me or what if I lost my iPad!

cannot change language
The language setting at ios app did not work, I change to chinese and it change back to english after I open the app. But Developer reply me through email, and can be change in app now. Would be good if the language setting is putting in to Bottom right corner service icon > setting section.

Lock you for no reason
This stupid app and the bank will lock you for no reasons. If they locked you, it’s hard to reach out to the customer representatives, but on normal days. You can keep getting scam promotion calls from them. Thinking about changing a bank!!!
Hope to incorporate equity trading features
I do hope that SC Mobile could incorporate equity trading features that currently offered via SC Equities. Many leading banks in HK such as HSBC have already done so to provide a uniform customer experience.
Just my two cents after using it for two years
Everything on this app is so slow. You can tell the design is old fashioned. Yes the current ver is better than when it just started, but the road to a good banking app is still long with no ending in sight.
WHEN IS THE IOS 13 UPDATE SUITABLE
Hello, There needs to be an update ASAP that supports the IOS 13 developers who are running on IOS 13. The app keeps crashing for us please fix. Thank you besides that it’s an excellent efficient and safe banking app! Probably one of the best out there that I’ve used so far.

Would like to open an account, but felt your staff were to pushy with life insurance savings plan when I went into my local branch, tried to open via app and can’t due to having new smart ID card, so not that smart I guess.
