MarketSmith screws up
Recent changes (as of 7/2/21) make a great program for the iPad harder to use. The changes add about 1 improvement and 14 things they took away that were very useful. Someone made a big mistake. Is this what WSJ ownership is going to be like going forward? We will see if they can fix it but I am concerned having seen this type of thing before.
Not reliable
As great as the desktop is, the app is highly unreliable. I’m unable to see my list or look up stocks.
app makes you re-sign in
For some reason this app makes you re-sign in every couple of days and doesn’t have an option for face id. Once running works well though although not sure it is worth the price compared to competitors like deepview

When it works it’s great and useful but continues to have problems loading data, especially my lists. Have to often delete app and reinstall just to get to load. Very frustrating for the price.

These challenges have made it difficult for me to fully utilize Marketsurge, especially when I need to check U.S. stocks during my busy train commute. As a result, I often have to rely on my laptop, which is quite inconvenient. [Smartphone App] • It’s impossible to access any custom lists I’ve defined on my PC. • It’s impossible to use any custom screens I’ve created on my PC. [PC Browser] • The Market Pulse section is completely missing, requiring me to visit Investors.com for updates. Marketsurge is crucial for my U.S. stock investments, as it helps me discover excellent stocks. I find the tool extremely valuable and cost-effective when used correctly. I sincerely hope you can restore these missing features soon. Thank you once again for your assistance.

New Update renders app useless
Stock ideas never loads unless I delete and reinstall the app. I’ve had to do this numerous times and the issue returns each time after a few uses. The “screens” tab has the same issue. There are so many other bugs also and this is just on the iPhone app version. And don’t get me going about the iPad version, wow that has completely been ruined. For $149.95 a month you would have to be a fool to accept these issues.

The app does not have chart patterns or stages. Given this is what I primarily use MarketSurge for to outperform the market, I find this app very ineffective.

The app is okay, but in recent updates it no longer gives alerts sounds. Extremely important as I relied on it.

Customer service terrible
Had probably the worse customer service experience I’ve had anywhere. Purchased and was charged for the app through my phone and it didn’t work at all, reached out to them and after being on hold for awhile finally someone answered and said that I should have bought it from the site not the phone, and that’s why it didn’t work. I was like why would you bother selling it through the app then and they basically said it was my fault for not buying through the site. The product is good for screening stocks, which is important but everything else about it is terrible.

iPad is awful to use Market surge on. The have destroyed the app. It’s been two months. Constantly crashes and you need to reload watchlist with indices no longer working from lists.

App is great and easy to use; however I frequently have to reinstall the app as the charts and lists function does not work (shows nothing and gets stuck loading).
Not as user friendly as it was a few weeks ago
They changed charting from “most significant” on lists to alphabetical. Makes search for best choice burdensome. Was much better the old way
Profitable
At first I had some trouble with data loading but customer support resolved it. The program has made me more money than I could have imagined without it. Took me a while to learn but there are tons of videos on how to use it. It all pays off in the end.
New update terrible
Used to be great, then they ‘updated it’ now it’s horrendous. Still no dark mode. Glitches all the time. News function is essentially worthless. Half the things don’t work when you’re in the app. I am not renewing, for $150/mo this should be way better.

Hands down one of the greatest investing tools you can use. I would like to be able to highlight the pattern to tell what stage base I'm looking at with pattern recognition. Like you can do on the iPad and PC. The iPhone 6 and 6+ seem big enough to allow this feature now. Let's make it happen.

New app has many legacy options lacking.
example, weekly, daily or monthly charts do not show RS Rating. Please bring it back on chart. Old way of going thorough table was very good with all applicable data points neatly organized in boxes with last 8 quarter earnings and sales underneath boxes above it was perfectly arranged data box in the older version. Please bring it back. Industries used to have RS rating on their charts in legacy version. Please bring it back. Industry used to have weekly volume % change on weekly chart underneath the weekly price and price change %. Now it is only weekly volume number without percentage weekly volume. Please bring it back. New app does not allow to swipe through stocks or industries if list has more than 100 tickers on it. Please bring back swipe feature to Left and right to go through charts. List sorting option now lacks sort by “flag” or “date added” feature. So we can’t sort the list by flag in the app. It is possible on desktop version. Please add sort by “flag” and “date added” options back on mobile app. “Date added” sort option is not on desktop version either. Please add it at both mobile and desktop version Please bring back above things from legacy version. those things make market surge unique and above all other charting services and software. It’s truly an edge to have those features. So please bring them back. We will truly appreciate it!
Really good but could be better.
I would give this 3.5 not 4 but there's no half star option here. The main complaint I have is the lack of Candlestick patterns in marketsmith. If this were added I would give 4.5. The reason for the other .5 off is the inability to just zoom in and out to increase the timeline and decrease the timeline. Sure, you can look at a day, week, month, even minute intervals. However, if you want to look more closely at a daily pattern or look at a weekly pattern from further out this is not possible. Hope this helps

Hands down my favorite research tools for investing- with its proprietary lists and pattern recognition charting I am continually making smart moves.
New charts are a nightmare
So they have forced a new charting system on us and it’s fraught with issues! I spent hours putting together my buy list to take advantage of the follow through day and my list was deleted. This horrible decision by them to change their charts has cost me tens of thousands of dollars. I’m disgusted with MarketSurge!
