What people like
- Makes insurance claims much easier.
- One-time fee instead of subscription.
- Easy to take multiple photos quickly.
- Helps you find items easily.
What they complain about
- Data is not synced across devices.
- No desktop or Mac version available.
- Cannot share inventory with family members.
- You cannot rename or delete rooms.
Love it - just one downside
I love the app - it’s a game changer. Only thing I wish was different is that there was a desktop version or website you could login through. When you have a lot to upload, it sucks having to do it from your phone. But that’s not a big deal, just a personal preference so I would 100% still give it 5 stars!
Inflexible data
I started to use this app but abandoned it because the input is so restricted. Might be better to use Excel ! The form format is fixed so it’s not possible to include any location detail without adding this as a note which is inconvenient. i.e. there may be many items in a lounge, and mot useful to use just “Lounge” as the location …. That’s ok for big stuff like a chair or TV. But not good enough for small items such as a calculator, a special book or tool. As a weaver, I have very many items that need some exact location … Box 1 …. Top Draw, etc So just Lounge or hobby rm is not enough and the lack of a sub-location or flexibility to add such renders this app completely useless to me. In it’s current form I am not able to recommend this app for anything more than as a simple list or items. That are to be found somewhere in a large (ish) area
Almost perfect
I’ve been trying to find a solid inventory/belongings app that supports QR codes (for labels), doesn’t require a user account, a monthly subscription, or cloud storage: this app checks all but one of these and I’d be more than happy to pay the quite reasonable one-time fee to unlock full use if QR scab and print support was included. Developer: please, if possible, add this feature!
Looks okay but…
Trying to find a decent inventory app. This looks quite good but why do I have to pay £8.99 for ‘most’ features and an extra £1.99 to remove branding. Then I see one review mentioning that in the last version features were removed and then re-added at an extra charge. Starts to worry me. I’ve bought too many apps that cost a lot and then flip to subscription and rip me off. I’ll keep looking.
Pretty good
Overall pretty good but would like to be able to alter or rename some of the fields This would be helpful in the case of greating wills, inheritance list, etc
Terracotta
Excellent all round app for home inventory. Simple to use but very useful!
stupid issue
forces you to use the currency associated with your iphone language and doesn’t let you change this - despite showing you “currency” in the settings, it just tells you to change your iphone language/region. so stupid and would be such a simple fix. no i do not want to change my iphone language from my home language just so i can show my home contents in your app in USD (as i live in the US.)
Fantastic
Honestly my only qualm with this app is that it doesn’t have an android or desktop equivalent. Other than that this app of perfect in my opinion. I love the one time fee instead of having to subscribe as someone on the low income side.
Does a good job
It’s got some nice features like barcode scanning and ability to use camera as the main input mode. It’s menu structure takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the hang of it it’s easy to use Would be nice to have ability to assign an asset ID to each item with ability to scan barcode to enter the asset ID. You can use the Notes field for this but it’s a bit clumsy Sync is slow and you need keep the window open or else it just stops.
Still Needs Work
Still needs tweaks in uploading and pictures duplicating wasting time to delete extra pictures of the same items
Simple and powerful
I really like this app. I struggle with object permanence so to have my belongings catalogued in one user-friendly, robust, and convenient app is a godsend. I upgraded to premium immediately not just to remove the ads but bc it only seemed fair to pay the developer for something that I use so much.
This produce is a God Send
Once I had a brilliant product that acted as a relatively unsophisticated database but it was so useful that it could handle all sorts of simple database requirements. Of course, Apple dumped it and left no real replacement. This APP, primarily intended for taking stock of items in a home with some minor tweaking can turn itself to all sorts of useful purposes. Buy it and I am sure that you will enjoy using it. The problem is that it is not a shared database platform meaning entries made on my iPad aren’t appearing on my iPhone. It’s a one or another phenomenon. Disappointing because any database worth its salt would synchronise between commonly used IT gadgets. My 2/5 rating remains because of this.
Useful App and easy to use it
I recently purchased this app and found its very easy to use and it’s recommended. I’ve some suggestions and improvements that you can include in the coming updates which can make the app to be the best of this category. 1. Add an option to have Sub-categories similar to location and categories 2. Option to change the color of the boxes 3. Option to change the currency without changing the language and regional setting. These are some of my initial findings and would like you to consider in these suggestions in the coming updates.
Meh
Not detailed enough. I asked the developer about subcategories and he responded with something about not wanting people to record every paperclip they own. Maybe I expected too much for the $5.99 price tag. I just want to be able to record items that are in boxes in various storage places rather that searching the entire room for an item I use once a year.
Very nicely done.
I’ve been looking for something not so expensive, where the data is not stored on vendors website, and meets my needs. I found it with Home Contents app. The data appears to be stored on your phone and can be exported to your personal iCloud space. The ability to scan in pics on the fly, single or multiple, makes it easy to use. Reporting and exporting is also a plus. Thanks
Not for multiple users
It does not work with a spouse or family as it only syncs with 1 Apple ID. Allow it to sync with other devices for family members or use a different sync service that allows this basic functionality.
Happy User
Ease of use and very intuitive. Good camera capture and stable search. Happy with my $9.99 AUD purchase 😁
MacOS App?
At first I thought that this was the solution I’ve been looking for until I realized there’s no companion app for MacOS. Not even a ported in version from iOS or iPadOS. Many people work from their Mac and use iOS as the companion app.
Love this app!
Let’s face it, creating a home inventory is a lot of effort, but this app makes it so much easier. Open a drawer, snap a photo, list the contents and value. Open a cabinet, snap, list. Lather, rinse, repeat. Once the initial inventory is complete, it’s a snap to keep it updated. Oh, and did I mention how I can now find every single thing in my house? Every. Single. Thing! Best app ever!
Great concept, easy to use, fatal flaw
I welcomed this app and bragged about it to my husband while boxing up our home. The categories, the ease of photography and boxes, and inventory. It was great. Flash forward a few years, we discovered our storage was broken into. At least I had it inventoried, right? No. I had assumed that Home Contents operated like ScannerPro and uploaded and backed up and was accessible across devices, nope. All that work and even worse my documentation is gone. It was stored on one device and when I upgraded my phone, all was lost. I would have been happy if the photos were in my Apple Photos, but sadly for me, they are not. Given the importance of this for police reports and insurance, I have to give this the lowest rating. If Home Contents makes this more like Scanner Pro were if the app was removed from a device or the change of phone and the app reloaded and my documents were there, I would give this a five star rating.
Great Success
Great App! Would be nice if you could more automatically separate bulk items!
Great but missing one thing!
Would be 5 stars but can’t collaborate with spouse on our home inventory. It’s limited to one Apple account Bummer…
Excellent Home Inventory application
Excellent Home Inventory application… I’ve been through a few home inventory applications in the past years but this one is these best so far… My home insurance rep really likes is also.
Scam!
This company charged my credit card without any authorization from me! Fraud big time!
i like this app but
there's no language in chinese simplified
Not quite there. Needs more
Nice idea but needs more to make really usable.
Great App
I have used this app for some time. This is just the right app to track your home contents. You can find what you are looking for easily and avoid buying what you already have. Highly recommended!
Constantly crashes on my iPhone 12 Pro Max
The app is useless because it keeps crashing when I switch between apps, which is essential as I need to gather data from mail and safari. When I go back to the app it crashes and all the progress with data entry is lost. Don’t waste your money!
But not Apple friendly
When are you going to make this App compatible with iMac or MacBook?
So close!
I would love to use this app, but the lack of tagging at the location level kills it for my primary use case: inventory for moving house. The “locations” are literally represented by cardboard boxes. Let me tag them and associate bar codes with them. Then it works. Pro version even has multiple properties (read: actual locations) Such a nice interface, too. Too bad.
Great app
I just recently started using this app and it’s very user friendly and efficient! I would like to put barcodes on items, anyone recommend a certain type or brand?
Version update is nothing but limit feature of the app
Uninstalled!
So Nearly Perfect
This is a great app which is a fraction of the price of the best known organisation/inventory app. I’m using it to make sure I have an accurate estimate of the value of my stuff for my home Insurance, and more generally be more mindful of what I own. After a few minutes playing around I upgraded to the pro version as I liked what I saw and was certain I was going to use it. A feature I’m very impressed by is the ability to upload multiple photos at one and have each photo create a new item. Very handy, however there is no batch edit feature so you’ll have to manually go in one by one and assign categories etc. Not the end of the world, but would be a neat feature to add. In terms of other missing features, I’d love to see sub categories introduced. I’m using it to inventory all my belongings and not all categories are created equal. My categories list is a hot mess of things like furniture, soft furnishings, book genres and different categories of clothing. I’d love to have one category for books and one for clothing and then be able to sub categories items within that parent category. It would also be nice for categories and locations to be integrated a bit more - e.g. have the ability to set clothes as a category in the location bedroom. As well as the ability to batch edit, it would be really time saving for the app to retain some information regarding commonly assigned retailers for example. Most of my clothes come from the same few stores yet I have to manually type the name every time I add a new item. I’m still new to the app, and it is excellent but a few improvements would make it very close to being the perfect app for inventories and home organisation. Will update as I discover more features that I love or more features I wish the developers would include.
Container (Boxes)?
No way to put an item in a Box that can be moved from location to location. Each item has to be moved separately: both tedious and useless.
Home contents app
This app has been amazing!! Idk how I would have got through the inventory I had to do for my insurance company after our house fire that resulted in what the call a “total loss”. Th only thing it didn’t have that I needed to provide the insurance company with was the approximate age of each item. If it had a space for each item to list its age that would have been great. I personally just used one of the other spots my insurance company didn’t ask for then let them know that’s how I did it. But overall I love this app!! Not to mention it’s literally the only one of its kind in the Apple App Store. I was a little worried at first it being the only one. As soon as I opened my fears were gone!! I recommended this app to anyone that has to do an inventory for their insurance company !!! Thank you for making this app!! P. S. I haven’t EVER wrote a review for a app!! I love this and recommend this so much I had to comment!!
Remove features with update?
Why would I update the app if you are going to limit me to 25 items & make me pay to get bak features I already have?!? This is the type of BS that needs to be stopped & removed from the app store. You can't just change your minds a few month in and say "Ok funs over, you have to pay now for no reason other than we want money"
Essential.
There are other apps which try to do the same thing but none are as thoughtfully designed. The designers really considered the workflow of adding many items with things like the multi photo add feature which lets you go around a room snapping items to add them, so you have a basis from which to fill in details at your leisure. The reports are also elegant and so useful. All in all it’s well worth the asking price. I only have a few feature requests: associating warranty documents with items (if not by directly attaching them, perhaps pointing to a file stored on iCloud Drive?) and moving assistance features such as creating numbered moving boxes to let you track which item is in which box during a move. You can do this manually in the item notes, but batch assigning items to a box would be awesome.
Not Very Flexible
One can add rooms or categories but not rename or delete. This is a Big Problem. I don’t have a basement don’t like have useless nomenclature in my lists. Does anyone have a solution?
Great App
Living in Florida it’s really important to have a complete list of everything we own just in case you need it for insurance purposes. This app allows for that complete inventory along with values as well as which room each item is found.
Tell the world what you own and its value
What a great idea that could go so horribly wrong if you loose your phone, get hacked or an app siphons the information... Let the world know where to go to get/steal what and in combo with your Facebook know when you're gone on vacation!
Great little app
I’ve got a horse lorry for transporting and camping. I have huge amounts of horse and human gear to take and this app helps me remember what’s already stored on the lorry, what’s in storage elsewhere and list of things to replace. Would like to be able to sort by category for the printed report but otherwise all good!!
Very Handy tool for insurance
I have used this App for approx one year, found it useful but needs tweaking of Reports and updating. Otherwise a valued App to have. Thank you.
