Perfect for my needs
I had been using iDatabase for years to manage a VERY simple database that I want to sync on my iPhone and Mac. But their recent update is incredibly buggy, and has left me with a loss of confidence. So I researched other simple database options and Collections got nice mentions. I must say I agree. I think too much software has become mired in complexity and so feature rich, that for most users, it’s severe, expensive overkill. So far, this is a nice piece of software at a very reasonable price. All the features I need have worked flawlessly, and although the needs are simple, they are met with flying colors. If nothing goes wrong in a few days, I’ll be back to confirm, purchase the complete version, and give some more feedback.

I love this but…
I was excited to use this until I found out I can’t even do 100+ documents before I have to pay for pro. and I was fine, just one purchase but WHY did you have to add ANOTHER purchase. Like 1 was enough. And it’s only 2 dollars more so imagine the people who have to buy it AGAIN.
Somewhat okay, very limited information on actual usage
I have a need for a fairly simple database… 3-4 tables with a couple of relationships and a handful of fixed drop down elements. This program will "sort of" handle this but the relationships are very difficult to setup correctly and you are extremely limited on what information is viewable between them. There is also not an easy way (if at all) to view the linked information… for example, if you had an orders table and an items table (one-to-many), when you look at the orders table all you can see from the items is the first field, none of the additional information which makes it pretty useless. Glad I didn’t waste a ton of money on it.
Scannen nur für Barcodes
Auf der Suche nach einer App zur Katalogisierung u.a. meiner Bücher, bin ich auf diese App gestoßen. Umfangreich und einfach in der Anwendung, vermisse ich die Möglichkeit, die ISBN als Zahl zu scannen oder wenigstens per ISBN mit manueller Eingabe das Buch zu suchen. Lediglich das Scannen des Barcodes ist implementiert, was mir bei meiner umfangreichen Sammlung mit vielen älteren Büchern nicht hilft. Auch wenn zwei Sterne Abzug dafür viel erscheinen mögen: für mich ist das ein wesentliches Merkmal, dass ich sehr misse.
Great App Tbh!
I love this app. It’s really wonderful, super in depth and it’s great for keeping track of things. I especially love how you can have subdatabases endlessly. Lots of features for getting specific data, too. Would def recommend purchasing the full version (one time purchase)

A Fantastic database that you can tailor to your needs
This is a great database that, after a small bit of trying out things to understand how it works, can do some powerful things. With the only other database I’ve been using now switching to an expensive subscription mode I’ve migrated all my data to this (and that was an easy job using CSV including photos). I’m very happy with Collections.
Performance Doesn’t Scale Well Past ~400 Entries
Have been using this to store a couple of my collections with relatively complex schemas and summaries. By the time I hit 400ish entries in each, the thing slows to a crawl. On the order of 10+ seconds per click. I likely would have switched to something else already if I wasn’t already so invested. If I see a performance improvement in future I’ll adjust my review to match.
Powerful, but slow
I love the concept. I don't like how impractical the app is in use. Quite frankly, it's slower than a sloth. The moment you try setting it up for anything serious the app takes 15+ seconds to load a near empty collection (25 entries). I am assuming this is because of the number of formulas and document references I use. Another case is a simple text collection, 5 fields, no calculation at all. But with 1k entries. This takes 30 seconds to load. The app crashes often. Sometimes it goes into a loop and I have no option but to reinstall the app and restore from backup WITHOUT the problematic collection. Most times it just crashes if you leave the app in background for more than a few seconds. The app is great at storing data, it's terrible at trying to do anything with it. The formulas for example. It's very very very tedious manual tap scroll tap scroll a million times. It leaves the majority of the phone screen empty and forces you to scroll sideways. There's no copy or duplicate function. Even moving the order you have to add dummy placeholders and replace those. There is an attribute value but you can't reference the current document. Text can't be searched. Non text values cannot be combined. You cannot grab an index other than first and last. Organizing the fields themselves is a nightmare. I don't understand why we needed the convoluted tap in and add section. Could we not just get divider fields? Oh yea, selecting section option when creating new collection doesn't even work. Shortcuts is powerful... But painfully short of core features. As well as the usual slowness. I cannot grab a field by name or attribute, or get the entire document as a dictionary. Instead I have to sit there scrolling until I find it in my million fields. If I have to restore from backup, all my shortcuts are now broken because it's technically a different collection now. Query conditions cannot properly search groups other than text. Query can also not be limited to a number of entries. There's just no way of getting the last one document without spending minutes querying the entire database. Unless ofc you have the ID noted down somewhere. Most importantly, it forces iCloud. I've lost 10k entries due to this. (No. I never access the data. It takes a solid 5 minutes to do anything I gave up. At least it's there.) My workflow before that happened depended on shortcuts. That way I can entirely bypass trying to access the unresponsive app. I'd add the document via shortcuts, have it note down the ID in a different faster app, and later search for ID in second app if I need anything done to the documents. I have a million shortcuts because it's faster to make a new shortcut than it is to open the app. I love how powerful this app can be. I hate actually using it. Maybe I'll come back in a year, the developer seems to be actively adding features, hopefully it'll get better.
Great APP
This App is easy to use and works very well. I would like to make a suggestion though. It would be better if we could name Documents. A long list of Documents being all the same name makes it tough, even though the Search option is good for locating a Field.
Complicated and a lot of missing data
I have use this app maybe a year now. Just use the basic feature as they cant explain well the other features. And data are missing. I thought i just didnt put it in but i have more data that i know its there and gone. I have to find other app that is secure and dependable
Beautiful, but….
Using this is a beautiful and rich experience but the inability to edit templates posthumously is a downer, as is the inability to name new documents. I also can’t figure out a way to delete a collection to start over with a new template which could inevitably get rather messy. Maybe I’m just stupid, maybe it’s because I am half asleep, maybe it’s Maybelline. No certainly not the last one.
WARNING - No refunds on a Pro License
The app works great, so I decided to purchase a Pro License but found out one of the features doesn’t work as I thought it would based on the documentation on it. Apparently, the purchase is "ineligible for a refund" period. A shame since I don’t really need the app anymore due to that feature not working as I expected. I assume not the developer’s fault, but something to keep in mind for those interested. The feature in question was "Views".
Excellent - but needs some work
Overall, this app is great, and exactly what I’m theoretically looking for. However, the massive downside is inability to make bulk changes, move things around. It’s too manual to really be useful with more than a handful of objects. If I want to add a field to all of my sub collections, I have to do that one-by-one. I can’t figure out how to move items from one collection to another, and there’s no multi-select. Bottom line, this has potential to be an excellent tool that’s between basic file managers and real databases, but needs better UX.
Great customer service
I'm new to this database stuff but the couple of times I was stuck, they responded the next day. I was struggling with some filters and they quickly responded with instructions on how to do what I needed. You don't get that type of service much more these days.
no longer working
I bought the unlimited version of this app for my book collection and now the barcode scanner and even the search will not show me books.. it suddenly stopped and cannot even find books it found before? so upsetting.
Collections Database
I have only used this for literally a few minutes but the import of all data was the easiest of any database I have ever used (and I have used a lot)!
Good features but really unintuitive UI
I really want to like Collections. It has a lot going for it - cross device sync (iphone+mac), local storage, flexible views, diverse fields, easy entry of new items. But I’ve tried 3x to adopt it for several of my personal databases and each time I get held up in how intuitive (eg, nested options, weird input layout) it is to add new fields, add new views, edit either of them. It’s really stopping me from embracing this otherwise sound app…. I’ll check back in a few months but for now I’ll be deleting :(
good app BUT…
it could use a few more ways to catalogue things, even if it’s just for premium. I want to use this as my sole catalog app, but there’s things that the other apps can do that it can’t. :( that, and I wish the pictures were larger.

Loved it til it started crashing every time I hit save
I have one small collection with 76 entries. App suddenly started crashing when I try to add a new entry and hit the Save button. I’ve tried restarting the app, restarting iPad and removing and reinstalling the app. The app is essentially useless at this point.
Best Database App! One Request
I’ve tried every database app under the sun. This is the best and the most affordable by far. Love this app. One request to make this five stars—a better card view of our databases. I’d love to sit back and view my databases as beautiful, large thumbnails. The Explore feature is nice but takes a few taps to get to and the images are cramped. Other than that, this is the essential document-your-collection app!
Tolles UI aber Basics fehlen
Ich finde das UI toll und die Flexibilität beim anlegen der Datenbank ist toll. ABER ich kann nichtmal ein Item von einem zu einem anderen Ort verschieben. Das ist für mich leider ein Showstopper.
Great functionality, bad UX
The app works well, and I found it relatively easy to get started. Unfortunately, the UX on macOS is really rough. It’s doesn’t appear to be macOS native, as all of the buttons and interactions are based off iOS/iPadOS. And there’s practically no keyboard support. Not being able to tab through various fields, swipe back and forth, etc. really slows me down. These issues certainly impact the app’s accessibility, which I can’t speak to first-hand but imagine makes this app completely unusable for many. All told, the core features and functionality are really great. The UX ranges from bad to poor, and really holds the app back. I’d pay 3–4 times the price for a macOS-native version.

Excellent Application - horrible documentation
This is an excellent beginner database application that work seamlessly on Mac’s, iPhone and iPads! Unfortunately, the documentation is very thin lacking detailed examples of terms and uses especially around items like: documents, entities, virtual fields, etc. Documentation assumes more knowledge of general database terminology for this type of beginner application. Additionally, there is no search for more information. 4.5 Stars, nearly 5 stars

Das Programm ist einfach zu verstehen. Aber das ist auch das einzig positive, was ich sagen kann. Das Interface ist ein typisch iOS mit Dialogen, die auf macOS total fremd wirken. Ich kann den Speicherort der Collections nicht selbst festlegen. Das Anlegen und Editieren von “Datenbanken” ist einfach. Aber ich erwarte zumindest einen Dialog zur Auswahl von Bildern. Auch die Thumbnail-Größe der Bilder kann nicht verändert werden. Daher habe ich das Programm gleich wieder gelöscht.
Good News: Excellent App
Bad News: Lacks the ability to be completely offline...trying to sync your data over the cloud. I would prefer the app to have the option of being stored locally. For this reason, i decided not to upgrade or use the app. Off course, it was total offline, it would get 5 stars..
Great app
I was looking for an app to help me track inventory of hardware I have in my garage for building things. This app is a bit hard to understand at times. But is extremely customizable. Other inventory apps were very limited in what they could do. The pro version is also very affordable. I’m happy support this awesome developer!

Solid DB app but wish had collaboration
From the start, the app developer is upfront with the limitations of their app in the FAQ. That was nice to see. Awesome import/export options, but import limited to new Collection (cannot bring data into preexisting). The only mobile app that I have found that supports CSV import with their related images. Good search options but can be a little confusing in the beginning with Indexes versus Search versus Views. Limited by iCloud only sync and no sharing. Overall Collections is a great option for a solo person.

Awesome but useless
Great app to get the Chaos organized. Unfortunately I cannot find a way to share it with my family, so all of us can work on it … Therefor useless in the end :(
It works, and gracefully!
I mention the fact that it works and does so gracefully because the combination of those two accomplishments is not to take for granted. In the world of database apps it is, so far as I can find, a rarity. Yet the cost is reasonable. It syncs without hassle to iCloud for Mac and iOS devices. It imports and exports the fundamental formats. The interface is natural for anyone who uses those devices, but crystal-clear documentation is on line. In short, it’s an impressive and useful production. I’m glad to have found it.

Nice App, but…
This is actually a handy little app, but the documentation is awful. I’ll give the developer credit for trying to help me via emails, but I mostly ended up figuring things out through trial and error on my own. I’m sure there are a lot more things I could do with it IF there were better explanations. I’m not a beginner, but I’m also not a programmer.

Ho trovato facile e intuitivo l’uso. Ho elencato i tagliandi delle mie moto. Ora mi accorgo che non mi mostra il segno + per poter aggiungere. Non capisco se il software distribuito è un dimostrativo a record limitati o se ho io un problema hardware
Easy to use
As much as I spent hours/weeks imputing my audio books into the database I realized that, yes, I have all of them in one place, but not being able to see the listing of all of them with full information is a super drawback. I am a displaced Bento user and loved the old AppleWorks database. Alas, if I want to print I have to have each listing on an individual page! I don’t want 1800 pages when a spreadsheet like printout would work better and save the trees. I will continue to use this database but I am frustrated at how little It allows me to view. Plus, Scrolling is awful when you have this many listings.

Love it
It’s a game changer for keeping all my collections in order. I really like that I can build custom databases for everything from my book collection to my games and keep it all protected. Totally worth it!
Free limited to 100 enteries
I would have given this app a 5 star rating but I just tried to add another entry to my database and I received a message that I had to pay $8 to upgrade to the Pro version since I had exceeded the maximum limit of 100. So after hours of entering information I now have to start over with another app. I will be deleting this app at the first chance I get.
Awesome database app, hoping for more usability improvements
I really love this app. I use it to track a collection of min that is getting bigger and bigger… I have more than 1500 entries for one collection, and this was way easier to ramp up than most other db apps. As a designer using this for keeping tabs on a hobby, I was glad I didn’t have to make my own system. There are a few points that would make this a little easier for me: 1. The ability to tab though the different panels and an automatic focus state for the first input element 2. Shortcut "⌘ N" to start a new item or as applicable 3. A landing page summary of the different collections, so the first thing upon launch I see isn't so empty looking (it gives me a second where I'm hoping my data is still there) 4. Ability to batch change document attributes in the explorer grid view, for example add batch tags
