What people like
- Huge variety of global radio stations
- Great for sports and specific shows
- Easy to find favorite local stations
What they complain about
- Ads interrupt you constantly
- Same ads play over and over
- Stream crashes or spins forever
- Repeats ads if stream stops briefly
Far reach
Amazing to be able to listen to far away stations. Still can’t get over it.
Way too many adverts
So many adverts it takes a good 5-10 minutes to get onto a station, often to find it’s not playing what you are looking for. I was able to download a better app and find the football match I was looking for while TuneIn was still Playing adverts.
ADD A SONG REQUEST OPTION
ADD A SONG REQUEST OPTION
More adverts than radio
Can listen to the same advertisement 4 or 5 times over. Radio starts for 30 seconds then straight back to the advert. Sometimes even two advertisements play at once. Used to be a useable app, now it’s just constant advertising
Quality Control Needed
Yesterday, I started an audiobook on TuneIn (Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express). What did I get? Someone (probably an AI voice) reading the book letter by letter. That’s right, not reading words, but spelling out the letters with an occasional full word here and there. Occasionally, I’ve started an audiobook only to find that one or two of the chapters wouldn’t play. Skipping ahead to the next chapter worked fine, but of course, who wants to miss something? All of these problems are occurring in the paid version. I’ve had the paid app for over 5 years but will probably let it end when my subscription expires.
Excelente servicio
Gracias por el excelente repertorio mundial de emisoras radiales en especial en estos momentos tan difíciles de la humanidad
No Sports
This app claims it can tune in (above) to music and sports. While it might be able to tune in to music, it might be able to tune in to local sports, but it cannot tune in if your team is out of town. buyer beware.
Four Star rating.
It is a good radio program.
Frequently loops back
My biggest credit has of TuneIn is that sometimes it will loop back on itself, repeating the prior 15 or 30 seconds or whatever of content. Most annoying.
Good ,but…
Know commercials in the middle of a song😟
Progressive
Keep us informed!
Ads
I’m paying for a radio that has ads in it I’ll stop using your services
choices
A lot of great choices from around the country. But I hate all the commercials.
Constant ads
Constant ads with an annoying jingle music makes this app almost unbearable to here. When connecting to TuneIn their the Smart Tv their app has to be reinstalled constantly because the connection does not connect.
Variety
I love the music choices, but it’s disappointing that my phone struggles to maintain a connection in my backyard
Best Sports App bar none número uno !!
My first and last sports app on my phone don’t need a second one when TuneIn Radio Music and Sports is the BEST !!
Very poor app
Way too many ads. And every time you change stations you get more. Or if there’s a flicker in the station’s internet feed you get more. Just terrible.
Finally - great with less commercials
They reduced the number of commercial commercials before you hear your station, so now it’s a great app. Thank you.
Silence
Goes silent often.
love the app, hate the excess ads
I love the service this app provides, but I hate that ANYTIME a stream is interrupted—scroll by a video on social media, use speech-to-text, switch the audio off in the car at a drive-through, etc., etc.—I gotta listen to 30 seconds of ads again.
BBC radio for expats
Can listen to BBC Radio 2 after the BBC took away the Sounds app from those of us outside the UK.
Terrible app
App plays the same ads over and over and over. And it plays them instead of playing the news I’m trying to listen to. Completely worthless.
Don’t like ads looping
Don’t like ads then the fact they loop and repeat before moving along to the show.
Ads
Ads I’m Sure people don’t mind when you get it free but playing ads in a middle of a song is not right, I was considering paying but not now.
Used to be great
I have been using this app for many year. I don’t mind the odd advert, but now there are too many popping up that then make the app crash. So you have to restart it and get even more ads! Frustrating!
Many Options
Great for listening to what you want to hear.
CANNOT LISTEN TO LOCAL RADIO STATIONS
2926 Aug 42.2.0. Stream a local radio station. Switch the output via AirPlay to a HomePod. The HomePod will play the commercial that appears on the screen NOT THE RADIO STATION. Switch outback to the iPhone and the radio station stream plays. I’ve never seen an app do this before. 2026 May v 41.5. App continues to decline in function. Listening to an ad and skipping it replace the ad. It appears to be impossible to listen to my local radio station. POSSIBLY THE WORST RADIO STREAMING APP ON THE APP STORE. 40.7.1 seems like they’ve fixed the repetitive ads issue [2026 Jan] 40.0.01- launch the app and listen to ads. Select a station and listen to more ads. The station finally starts to play. OK now send the stream to your smart speaker in my case of HomePod. You’ll enjoy an INFINITE STREAM OF ADVERTISEMENTS. v 33.0.0, June 2025 I’ve used this app to listen to local radio stations in the past. Now the app requires me to listen to 14 ads at 15 seconds each for one station, 9 ads 15 seconds each for the other. ^ V 25.1.1. IPHONE: I’ve used TuneIn for at least a few years now. As of about three months ago, late 2020 to the app launches displaying an ‘oops’ error screen and/or the spinning error wheel. I cannot get the app to work. Had to switch over to another radio app. iPad- app works just fine.
Good
Amazing but im a kid so i have no money and Theres a lot of adds and stuff to buy which means I can’t enjoy the app to the fullest extent
Won’t play unless screen on
It was a great app I could listen to music without the screen being unlocked/always lit up but not I can’t don’t heat’s phone up and drain’s battery I will find a new app for music
Great selection of stations
Almost all the channels you can think of available. For a free service.. Would likely pay for it if it’s guaranteed the overly repeated adverts are reduced.
Good music
Love listening to 96.9
Stop being annoying
stop your ad on app start up to join premium. I've set up an automation if I enter my car and you greedy people ruin it. If I want premium I would have set it up myself already. I paid for the pro version 10$ so leave me alone with your offer day after day on app start up
Good app just the commercials
Its a good app i just wish they had fewer commercials or at least a little more variety to them. Then I would listen more
Too many ads
So many ads Just absolutely insane
Tune in radio- old time radio
Started off with the free app and its start up ads, and appreciated all the app provided. I enjoy the old time radio programs like X-1, Suspense, The Whistler etc.. Now you are running ads for 1-2 minutes overtop of the last 5 minutes of the program being heard. You are eliminating the surprise twist or ending to each program. It defeats the actual show formula of the surprise endings, other than the surprise advertisement and disappointment. Ads at the start were ok, especially if you like a Ford truck ad repeated 3 consecutive times first. Like those “Head on! Apply directly to your forehead !“ repeat, repeat Ads.
Go to
After a couple of years of steady listening to Pandora, I have recently been seeking out Tunein. I have particular interest in the Dave Koz show and the Mike Harvey show. Tunein makes it easier to locate these. Follow up to an earlier rating. TuneIn has the best collection of stations. Simply put
Tunein app
Include artwork for podcast episodes and stations on tunein app
Good
I like this app because I can get all my favourite radio stations, but there are a lot of adds.
Used to be good. Way too many adds
Used to use this app all the time. Just non stop adds. Will look for alternative now
Great idea…
I love being able to stream just about anything on the planet. Reality however is different. At least one of my favourites plays 3 TuneIn ads then the spinning wheel of death takes over and the only way to get rid of that is to restart and play the ads again. And again. And…. Not all streams behave this way so check out what you want to listen to.
Beautiful
A God send
Free version ads are too invasive
The free version has way too many ads to make it a useful app. If the objective is to go to the paid version maybe make the free version a bit more palatable. As is it is unuseful.
Sometimes glitchie
I love using tune in and use it daily, but occasionally it won’t stream which is frustrating
Was the best - deleted
I’ve used this for years. Unfortunately, this has gone down the ad route. You don’t mind a quick 20 second ad, but this makes you listen to 3 or 4 30 second ones. Then if you close the app or stop the stream by mistake, you have to go through it all again. Deleted and alternative free app downloaded.
This app is very good
This app is very good
Tune in
Love it
Cut away
Don’t like the time out taking one away from the station being listened to
Repetitive commercials
Annoying repetitive commercials at start up that you can’t skip. Like why three Amex commercials in a row. Hearing it once is sufficient. Move on. Also, why all the mandarin language commercials?
Basically an advert app now
It’s great to listen to radio from anywhere in the world, but over the years, there’s been an increasing number of repetitive adverts, and any time your stream stops, even if just for a second or two, it will play another 90 seconds worth of the same three or four adverts. It’s now just easier/less annoying to have four or five apps for the direct station, rather than this advert app that is masquerading as a radio one.
50/50 on this.
I like this app but I’m only getting stations within the uk. I haven’t bothered checking if paying for the service unlocks world access as I have the free version. Yeah, I should probably look it up. Otherwise, if not for that, I’d enjoy it a bit more. Confined to uk stations 🙄🤷♀️
