Broken App
I am required to use this app for work or else I would not use at all. It is the only app on my phone that regularly does not work. I upgrade to new iPhones on an annual or every other year basis and yet the problems are always the same across devices. I get randomly logged out of the app and it stops working, I answer that I have seen the page but it keeps beeping over and over, the app closes as soon as it opens and needs to be reinstalled entirely. Unsure why these issues happen repeatedly and there’s no solution.
Great app but
I would love to see Apple Watch support for this. It would be great when my hands are busy at work but I want to quickly read the page on my watch screen instead of having to stop and pull out my phone
Maybe better than a pager but looks and feels like it’s from 1998
Overall this application is one of the worst two-way messaging apps I have used. Though it does integrate with our system’s existing paging network and messages do seem to be delivered (bare minimum functionality), the UI is terrible. I have it two stars because 1 is the lowest and it does actually send and receive messages, so it should get some minimal credit. Very clunky to navigate between message “threads”. group message threading is essentially absent. Message history seems to disappear very quickly. No search function. Multimedia support is very bare bones. Certain characters are not supported “/“ and no error message is supplied! Our hospital system pays money for this. We have to use it to communicate. It should be less terrible, and allow us to quickly and easily navigate what are often many and complex messages. Paging is no longer just send a number to get called back. Modern two way asynchronous messaging should be much better than this.
Apple Watch compatibility
It would be nice to have notifications AND the message itself sent to the Apple Watch. That would vastly increase functionality.
Beyond Terrible -Well Beyond
Recently upgraded to a new phone, but the log in information did not transfer over and the app wouldn’t let me login no matter how I tried. Oddly the app would still notify me of an incoming page but I couldn’t open the app to see the message or even turn off the repeating alerts. Called their technical support and the assistant was the rudest most unpleasant person. She was completely unhelpful and when I indicated that the app was less than satisfactory she said “If you don’t like the app then you should delete it from your phone”. I’m hoping Spok goes out of business so that my hospital is forced to find an alternative.
Fix the confirm receipt system please
On ios, the paging system is frustrating. I will keep receiving reminder notifications until I “confirm” receipt. But there’s no way to do that for a message unless I force close the app and reopen it. As long as the app is open and you’re looking at the message, there’s no way to confirm that you’ve read it.
Good thought, but…
The app works, but it would be nice if I could delete the message within the message. Really makes no sense at all that I have to come out of the message to delete the message. Oh yeah and a delete all messages button. I am beginning to think my pager is better.
Apple Watch
Sad to see I no longer get the app on my Apple Watch like I use to. It was nice not having to carry my phone all over my house when I’m on call. The critical alerts alerted my Apple Watch. No longer the case and back to carrying my phone all over the house.
I wish it was better…
Great idea instead of using pager, however does not work if phone is on low battery mode unless the app is open. Would be nice to read the page on your Apple Watch or in the banner versus having to open the app and click the message every time as Well.
Needs an update?
Since my phone’s IOS update, the app won’t let me change my status or view messages now. Does the app need an update?

Barely better than my pager
It’s nice to not carry a pager around but man this app is poorly made. My biggest complaint is that the notifications do not repeat. In that regard it’s actually worse than the pager my hospital uses that’s from the 1980s.
Awful app
Horrible UI, horrible audio — a child can Vibe Code something better than this in an afternoon. Can’t wait to be done with this garbage app.
Worse than an old school pager
In an era when one can become overwhelmed by customization options, Spok distinguishes itself by giving its user very few options. The system is not intuitive, and the help options are worse. It’s not clear to me why anyone would choose this service over other options on the market.
Not reliable
App alerted but crashes on startup
Completely useless
I miss pages with this app all the time. It is absolutely a danger to patient safety. The other week, there was a code at my facility and nobody’s pager went off. It’s telling that no one from Spok is replying to any of these review reviews, they could clearly not care less.
Glitches more than works
Used for 3 years, half the time alerts for things that aren’t supposed to and the other half I click and it doesn’t open. I don’t understand why have an app that can’t consistently work?
Audio settings
My audio settings keep reverting to High. I change it several times a day and it keeps going back for all priorities. This is not my hospital system- it just started this a few weeks ago. It’s vey frustrating because the high is SO LOUD
