Useless, paid I. Apple Pay twice. No paper just keeps sending me back to subscribe?? Given up, says no payment, but have paid twice and still cannot load Times App asking for payment AGAIN??
Dark mode?
I don’t remember when dark mode was added, but it’s been some time, and it’s literally never worked. Would be a great addition. Puzzles section can also be unreliable to load.
Keeps going to home page
Unstable app that keeps sending the reader back to the home page when reading an article. Even worse it then hides that story as it thinks you have read it.
Crashes and sudden appearance of adverts
The app seems to have developed an annoying habit of suddenly resetting, kicking you out of an article and putting you back at the top of the homepage. Then as you read, an advert appears under your thumb and launches instead of you scrolling down the story (and to make matters worse, when you go back to the article you’re back at that top again) Would be manageable if it was only once in a while but it’s too frequent
Travel
Always concise informative and to the best of my knowledge completely accurate. It seems AI is never used to pad out articles and comments etc etc well done Mr Calder keep up the great work. I lived and worked in Zambia for 8 years in the 1970’s They have just great National Parks and things to do and see. Maybe do articles Nation by Nation ??
Awful
Tried to access the free trial but told account wasn’t registered and app wouldn’t load. Only noticed a couple of months later that my bank was being charged. Took ages to find a link that worked to be able to reset account and cancel further payments.
What’s missing is a decent Books section.
It’s a real shame that the DT, so strong in many areas ( politics, sport, fashion, film), has abandoned its once terrific Books coverage. Please bring it back! Hardly any books, esp novels, are now reviewed. Newspapers are read by readers. We aren’t being served.
Needs fixing
Whilst the telegraph content is still mostly as good as its ever been - the habit of the app to return me randomly to the front page has been a contributor to my decision to cancel my subscription
Irritating interruptions
I enjoy the Daily Telegraph, but the App on my iPad has the very annoying habit of refreshing back to the front page while I am in the middle of reading an interesting article. It seems very difficult to get back to the article to complete my reading it. This happened three times in less than an hour this evening. My only other complaint concerns article of interest that have to be listened to, a problem to someone as deaf as I am. I thought a newspaper was designed to be read! Sadly I cannot get a printed version as it is several miles to the nearest shop.
Good value subscription
When I was a paperboy in the mid 70’s I used to frown on houses which took The Telegraph! The thick broadsheet was far too heavy to lug around, especially at the pay rates paid in those days. It’s great that I can now fit all that pulp into my pocket.!!
So frustrating!
Not at all impressed. This is the fifth day I have been unable to load Puzzles. I have reported this issue several times, with zero response. Very disappointed.
What’s gone wrong?
I purchased your online version a few weeks ago and until today your App has worked reasonably well. Now I cannot access anything other than your highly irritating advert wanting me to sign up for something I don’t want. Each time I try the ‘back’ arrow or try other options, the Ad slides straight back on screen. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling and that achieves nothing. This happens on all my devices, despite all being updated. What’s gone wrong. UPDATE. I got in touch with online chat and Connor resolved the issue in 10 minutes. Seems for reasons unknown the Telegraph changed my email address somehow and I could no longer log in with the one I had registered. All sorted now.

Dark Theme Do Not Work
I usually read the news at night and want to use the Dark mode under the settings. I tried to turn it on, but it does not switch to Dark at all.

A Sneak Peek at England
It’s 2:30 AM New York time and I’m taking a quick look at events across the pond. The Telegraph offers vignettes of Britain struggling with unaccustomed hot weather with Doctors not allowed to use air conditioning to take blood samples. I would think that there would be exceptions from any ban where health and safety are involved. But sadly, not. I study online with courses offered by Cambridge University and the Telegraph helps me keep in touch with some of my classmates.
Crashes constantly on a iPhone.
Great content, but frustrating to use on an iPhone - every time you try and enlarge a picture or graphic it crashes and reboots at the home page. It’s fine on the iPad.
Great, But Repetitive
DT has been ‘my’ paper since I was 10 or so. Hence the move to online was always going to happen. Still enjoy the ‘paper’ but a couple of observations - some headlines are increasingly sensational, and articles are repeated, sometimes two or three times, as one scrolls down the page. Finally, more journalism, less reporting, please.

Free subscription
Impossible to cancel without calling them
Intrusive pop-ups!
The ios app is generally stable and responsive. Mid week content good, though a lot of weekend content is rehashed earlier articles. Recently, you cannot move between articles without constant annoying pop-ups offering to share the articles with a non subscriber. This needs to be curtailed.
Puzzles not loading
I downloaded the app in the hope that puzzles would reliably load. Unfortunately it has the same problem as a browser on iPad and iPhone that puzzles very often taken ages to load or not at all. This has been happening for months. Why can’t it be fixed, especially as you charge extra for puzzles.
Great content, awful app
Frequently fails to load properly (despite using latest version of app and IOS). Kicks you out of an article back to the main page while reading. Sometimes just doesn’t load at all (white page). Good journalistic content though.
I need you!!
I get my leg pulled by my family because I believe everything in it. If for some reason it fails to load on my iPad I don’t feel that I can start the day.

If you want wall to wall coverage of Harry and Megan then this app is for you. If you want news, then look elsewhere. I’ve deleted it.
Ukraine Podcast
I have lived and traveled in Britain since the mid-1970s. I have never been particularly impressed by the Telegraph, favoring The Economist and the BBC. When the BBC ended their Ukrain podcast, I did a search and found the Telegraph's. It is excellent. I subscribed to the newspaper in order to support the podcast team.
Pop ups ruining app
I’ve been using the Telegraph app for a couple of years. It’s largely been good to use and I like the news content. However the Telegraph uses pop ups adverts, which are really annoying. But recently they have started using pop up adverts for subscriptions. They invite me to pass on an offer of 4 months free app access to a friend. These are both repetitive and infuriating. You have actually click on the X to close them. I’ve had them three times this morning whilst reading today’s edition of the telegraph. It makes the app unusable. Paying subscribers should be able to select a ‘don’t show me this offer again’ option rather than be repeatedly bombarded with this unwanted advertising. If it continues I will be seeking a new provider of news/current affairs.

Great news but problems with the app
I've been a subscriber for years and as a long time reader have tended to download the paper rather than read the live feed. With the latest versions that's changing and I tend to read the live feed. Today there's a problem which makes it almost unusable annoyingly. You select an article to read (for me it was "my heat pump didn't work") and every minute or so you're thrown from the article to the top headline feed. You then have to scroll down to find the article again, read another couple of paragraphs and get chucked out again. It makes the live feed almost unusable. Please fix! UPDATE - this may have been an intermittent problem. It appears to have resolved itself for the time being.
Endless pop ups - negative feedback doesn’t work
I am so sick of the endless pop ups, share this, reward that and so on. I want to read the content and not have to continually click an X to read it. I pay for a subscription. If I want to share I will choose to do so with the existing controls. I dont need this offered after every other article read. Tried to give direct feedback but it came up with an error saying do it manually via email. But no email address, clearly they dont want feedback…..
Not working correctly
For the last six months have been experiencing issues with mobile version. Clicking on headlines take you to the article momentarily and then returns to front page - very frustrating. App update fixed temporarily but issue returned again now - not sure if it’s a caching issue?? Please resolve.

Subscribe and they’ll repeatedly interpret you actually trying to read it by advertising IN YOUR FACE pop ups and trying to get you to pull in your friends with free get-interrupted too subscription. They don’t respond or react to feedback.

All good apart from fact that I’d like the Newspaper function to look like the physical newspaper
Puzzles section needs some attention
Overall, this acts as a great provider of British news. But the reliability of the puzzles section (for which you pay extra) on iOS is really poor - answers get wiped if you leave and come back, screens freeze, often slow to load - and please stop redesigning the damn thing!

The journalism is excellent, but couldn’t justify 200 quid for the year, so I’m glad they offered it to me for 20 quid
Scam Ads
It’s incredibly sad that I have to delete this app because I’m sick of the scam laden ads. Replaced with Safari bookmark and uBO ad blocker. Do not use web app as this will bypass ad blocker.
Overall a great app - but nuisance ad links
Recently, I have found it very easy, when scrolling through news articles, to touch a link to an ad which I then opens up. This interrupts the flow of reading and is very irritating.
Last update (9/2025) is glitchy
The most recent update is glitchy. The app promises to offer a choice between light/dark and follow system choice. Does it? No. Stays light whether dark is chosen in the app or in the overall system. And today, for the first time, the app froze and crashed. Not a well tested update.
Autoplay video
There’s no way to stop news or advert video from Autoplaying. Extremely irritating to the point I make a mental note to never have anything to do with unstoppable ad video company’s. Reading the news is why I installed the app in the first place, so the unstoppable news clips are just an annoyance. 5 stars for the app if these vids can be definitively stopped. A work around is to uninstall the app and instead visit the web page and login, then a selection of adblock extensions remove these annoyances. Update Aug 2nd 2026 - video ads and alleged news video still autoplaying…

A really well designed and aesthetically pleasing app.
Worst paper to subscribe to
Once in a way whenever I try to use my subscription and try to read the paper, after logging in via the app, it always takes me on to ‘The Telegraph’s’ ‘ premium puzzles screen with only these two options 1. Free for 3 months and then £29.99 per month 2. Claim your offer. Cancel anytime. 3. Need to restore an app purchase? Click here When I use the 3rd option it cycles me right back to this screen. Already wasted too much time trying to resolve this issue. When I tried to cancel the subscription online I got the message that I have to actually make a phone call to The Telegraph UK and ask their call handler to cancel it. Well I tried that only to be told I cannot cancel the subscription online or by calling The Telegraph. Now apparently I have to call up Apple and request them to cancel it. I going to do that now. But remember guys , NEVER make the mistake I made.
Comments impossible to follow on busy stories
Good app, use it daily. One frustration: on big stories, comments come in so fast that whatever you’re reading gets pushed down the screen every couple of seconds. You lose your place, scroll to find it, and another comment knocks it down again. A “pause live updates” toggle with a “load new comments” button would fix it — YouTube live chat and Reddit do something similar. Even just keeping the scroll position anchored when new comments load would help. Emailed the app team about this too.
Poor text size control
Unable to increase the text size in the mobile app so unable to read stories. Text size only increases the written text in the downloaded newspaper. Look elsewhere if you cannot read small text on your phone. It might’ve have worked as you can zoom in with your fingers but really need that to work in landscape mode, which it doesn’t, as in portrait mode you get to only see ⅓ rd of the page and is awkward.
Buggy app
This app needs more frequent updates - it opens but does not load completely. Never did this before.
