Excellent content and functionality
I have been using the newly released app for several years and I think it's tremendous. The search feature is well done, allowing both casual browsing and laser-focused precision. I'm a fan of WS wine critics and scoring as well, so this app is ideal for me.
Declining app
This app has become less and less useful. Many wine rating searches turn up zero results. Time for me to abandon this app.
1997 brunello argiano
Just opened a bottle this week the wine turn breakers red and not drinkable. So the Brunellos don’t hold as well as the French? I always thought brunello could hold For 30 years or more?
So far not impressed
I have yet to find a bottle in this app that I am drinking or thinking of buying. Just looked for Santa Barbara Syrah and got multiple bottles from only a few wineries. A. It more diversification would be appreciated.
Paywall now keeps me from using
Wish Wine Spectator would bundle this with print or digital magazine subscription.
Wine Spectator is trustworthy
They do truly blind tastings. The reviews are detailed and it also gives me an idea of when they will drink their best and how long to cellar. It’s simple for anyone to understand.
Won’t let me sign in
Already have a web based subscription, but the app won’t let me sign in. Just promos an App Store based subscription.

App no longer loads my subscription as being active. No way to contact the company. Keeps charging me and no access.
Okay but trouble signing in on multiple devices
I download the app on my iPad but was unable to sign in on my iPhone. I had to delete the app from my phone, restart the phone, and download the app again. I’m now able to sign in. I like the app but it’s missing scan function.

Subscription Paywall
I already subscribe to print and digital, so was surprised to find the app also requires a separate additional subscription. Subscription fatigue is a thing for a reason. I understand the technical integrations on the backend make it difficult for the dev team to understand who is already subscribing to what, but luring loyal subscribers (or anyone really) from the App Store to slam into an immediate paywall is very bad customer experience. WS should know better.

Limited Coverage
I have found this app to be lacking in up to date reviews. Standing in the store my success rate (finding a review of 2021-2022 wines maybe 1 in 5.
Scanner
Well researched and full of information. It doesn’t cover well the Canadian market. It also lacked a bar code scanner for researching a single wine quickly. You must enter the information correctly to get the right information which is cumbersome when shopping for wine at a store, cellars or winery.
Easy to use & reliable
I have had this app for quite a few years and found it easy to use. And WS provides reliable reviews that are not overly inflated like some other review sites. Highly recommended.
Can’t login
Started new subscription online … but there is nowhere to put in username and passcode. It’s just selling the 2.99 subscription (no way to cancel / X out).
Needs better list capabilities
I have been using the website for both ratings searches and keeping track of my cellar. The app is much nicer for searching with the infinite scrolling and easy sorting. However, I’m not sure I’ll take the time to add my wines to lists. There is no way to search a list and no way to see what’s in the drink now window in your cellar. I’d really love a filter or two so I could an Italian red that’s ready to drink but will be past the best drink window by 2022, for example. So this is nice for being in the wine shop but not useful for being at home and trying to figure out what to pull out for dinner.
Nothing for me
I get nothing out of this app. On the rare occasions (maybe 1 out of 5) that I find the wine I’m searching for, the newest vintage is 8 or 10 years old. Maybe it works for somebody but not for me, I’ll be canceling my subscription.

Del Dotto 2011 cab
Much derided vintage. This is doing well at 10 years. Light color full sensuous nose. Blackberry slight black licorice and fruit finish long on the mid- palette. Good for another 5 years. Drink through 2026.
A disappointing update
What a shame! This app used to be so great to use, and it’s now been refreshed and become less functional because of it. The user experience of simple functions such as viewing lists, organising search results (by price, rating, vintage etc) are now less fluid - e.g. two step processes rather than single clicks. Gone too are the names of the reviewers for each wine. While I trust each of the critics under the WS belt, there are some whose palates I feel more aligned with, so it’s helpful to know who’s rated what. Overall, the app feels to have been unnecessarily ‘fixed’ when there was little wrong with it. All in my very humble opinion, anyway.

App will not load
I downloaded the app. When I try to subscribe, it just spins infinitely. This occurs on my phone and iPad. Not worth the frustration.
Terrible customer service!
My subscription expired but my attempt to renew on the app did not work. Called customer service to resolve twice. Unsuccessful because reps can barely speak English and could not explain a confusing array of options. Finally, I gave up. Renewing not worth hassle.
Improvements
Great app, still find a few vintages on the market that are not discussed, but certainly better than before.
Is Not Worth the Extra Cost
I already have a paid subscription to the magazine (both print and digital, which is already really expensive), plus a subscription to WineSpectator.com, but this App does not recognize those subscriptions and wants another $2.99 per month ($35.88) per year. There should be a bundle price, which could/would actually bring in more overall revenue. There are other wine rating apps from other vendors to choice from.

I like this wine app because the reviews seem professional, cover a lot of world wide wines, and seem trustworthy. The app works well and is fast for selecting wine in a store.

Great Ratings, not enough wines
I love this app, but there are not enough everyday brands. Moreover, great ratings for wines most of us will never be able to buy are tantalizing.
No content without subscription
It’s not a free app with additional features, if you pay for them. Now requires paid subscription to access any content. Used to have free content within the app.
Very good go-to reference
I have a subscription to the magazine and find the app very convenient - I use it almost daily. I don't understand why they didn't merge the app and online streams instead of have people pay for both. However I never signed up for the online content so I am pretty pleased with the functionality of the app. There are still some bugs to fix (e.g. sometimes a review won't come up depending on the search word used).

Love it!
I’ve been using this app more and more since I’ve moved back to NYC. Being on a tight budget means it’s important for me to find a wine review that I can trust. The tasting reviews on this app help me make better buying decisions, ultimately saving time/money normally wasted on unknown wines.
Irritating your loyal subscribers
I subscribe to the magazine! I subscribe to the website! And now you’re forcing me to subscribe to this app just to get the vintage charts?! This makes me so angry that I’m considering canceling everything and sending my money to Enthusiast, Advocate, and Decanter instead. I have now DELETED THE APP since the paywall was instituted, after using it frequently over the past couple of years.

Can this be done?
A good basic app for amateur collectors - I would personally love to know which vintages are better in terms of quality. For example, is a 2004 Barossa Shiraz better than a 2005? Weather greatly determines the quality of wine and to know what to buy/cellar would be most helpful in one app.
Fantastic App
I’ve been using other wine apps for years, but I find it difficult to gauge if I’ll like something based on a crowdsourced review. With WR+ I know I’m getting an expert’s opinion and rating! I love that I can save and favorite wines- it makes shopping so much easier because I already have a list with options. Definitely recommend downloading- worth every penny!!!!
An add on cost to the magazine and no longer offers vintage charts
After subscribing to that magazine for many years, I occasionally would also pay for the digital version. Now that the app removed vintage charts, I’m just not going to renew the magazine either. I get you have to monetize things, but if I can’t even review a vintage chart on my phone in a wine cellar or store where you often don’t have internet access, I can’t justify spending anything with this company.
