What they complain about
- Ads pop up constantly and block screen
- App feels old and looks outdated
- Crashes often or fails to update
The new app is a game changer!
I love everything about it. It’s not glitchy. Very visually appealing. Easy to read the newspaper as a newspaper. You’ve gotten it right, OCRegister. Thank you!
Hard to access
I’m a subscriber, but when I click on something to read in one of the Register’s email newsletters, it tells me I’ve reached my limit and that I can subscribe. But there’s no place on the page to log in or access my account. Very funky interface. I should be recognized as a subscriber on all my devices that I regularly use to read the Register. Ugh.
Trump at his finest.
Love that you are calling attention to this. What a ridiculous and dangerous display. Typical Trump.
App is decent - content is NY Times heavy
Too leftist now. The original newspaper was decidedly libertarian. Now, it is very liberal and accelerating to the left. Too many NY Times stories. 🤮🤮
Full of ads
Malicious design with ads popping up every 15-20 seconds
Updated App is huge improvement
I’m so happy we still have OC Register for local news! The update a few weeks ago is an enormous improvement. Thank you.
Not clippers fans
This paper’s sports section has the absolute worst coverage of the LA Clippers. Actually had to enter Clippers as a search word to read about last nights game.
“New” App is not updating
You said there’s a new app, but it doesn’t update on the iPhone. I have full Wi-Fi service.
Needs improvement
This app seems out of date, not up to the tech standards of other daily news apps. There are many old out of date stories featured. Really bad navigation. A clumsy app that needs work.
Needs to be better
The articles are accessible and it isn’t clunky but it needs to be updated. It feels like it’s an old app, there aren’t crossword/games portion, the articles don’t have a date and time caption. It just seems out of date.
My favorite columns
Both Richard Wagoner and Jim Ratcliff’s weekly columns are always informative and entertaining. I look forward to reading them every week. Thanks
Poor app
Everyday…EVERYDAY I have to do an update to open the app. Real close to cancelling because of how poor the app is and the content of the paper
Simply a downer
Oc register as many other news paper co. are circling the drain. Nobody really reads news print anymore. Left that for the 60 and older, which includes me. With that they really need to include verbatim from print to this piece of trash. Man it hercks and jerks more than a rodeo bull. All I want is the listing for sports on tv for that given day..man on man. Verbatim
One side views
Please Dan A., Give mention to all that deserve it in high school sports ( football) not just your favorites.
Ok but too many ads
I have an e subscription but was prompted to download the app. I find too many ads pop up completely blocking the screen. Happens too often. Very annoying… I’d rather just look at the print version online

Not getting what I paid for!
I subscribed last week for you special “Labor Day Special “. And now I can’t open any articles. I’m told I must subscribe. Plus half the time I never get my Thursday delivery. I think your service is terrible and I never get the Saturday delivery !
Looks like app is from 8 years ago
Come one update the app. Looks so old and works terrible. Quit all the GOP propaganda too while you’re at it.
This site
Great!
Terrible
The old app was simple and straightforward. This new app is a jumbled mess. If this is the only way to read the Register now I’ll be canceling my subscription.
Archaic app that inundates you with ads
As a paid subscriber, I’m constantly getting inundated with horrible ads throughout this app. Really impacts the experience. The UX of this app is awful. Needs a complete overhaul. Total let down because I appreciate the news being delivered by the Register. Sadly, will not be re-subscribing.
Awful online presence.
Seriously one of the worst online or App versions of a newspaper. I get the LA Times; NYTimes; WashPost and SF Chronicle and this company’s offer is HORRIBLE and USELESS. I removed the App.
Crashes continue
Two updates ago crashes upon opening anything other then the home page existed both in my iPad and iPhone. The update that followed seemed to work at first but days later i still have been unable to open anything past the home page. It hangs for the same time period every time then crashes to springboard.
Stuck
This ap was working fine until the latest "update."Now I cannot get the latest news. Don't get this until it is fixed.
7.30.25 Update - Story makes app crash: 2-acre Orange estate with equestrian facilities seeks $5.5M
Please fix app. It crashes on this story every time.
New layout?
I also don’t like the random layout - bring back the actual paper!
I'm being harassed by them
OC register has been calling me, sometimes daily, since I cancelled my subscription. I have been blocking at least 6 of their numbers. They keep calling with new number to sell me a promotion. I have told them three times that I don't want to be called. Every time they promised they wouldn't. They keep calling.
Was like a newspaper before update
When you opened the old app it was a replica of the print paper. Now is random stories. Don’t like the new version at all. Terrible!!!!!!
Ridiculous amount of pop up ads
I have a subscription but the amount of pop over video ads renders the app unusable
Update won’t load
Cannot get to the app, as update won’t load….
