Dommage que la version sur ordi ne soit plus disponible (plus actualisée). Personnellement j’avais choisi Iphigénie pour la combinaison des deux possibilités (mobile et ordi). L’appli whympr, développée en remplacement, ne me convient pas. Une fonctionnalité très très utile est développée sur strava : les cartes de chaleur. Pensez-vous développer un outil similaire à courte échéance ?
À quand le retour d’OpenCycleMap (de Thunderforest) ?
Depuis janvier 2026, le fond de carte OpenCycleMap de Thunderforest n’est plus disponible dans Iphigénie. Nous sommes nombreux à le regretter ! Les cartes alternatives telles qu’Utagawa et CyclOSM ne sont pas du tout à la hauteur en termes de vitesse de chargement, de précision et aussi de lisibilité. Au début, j’ai cru pouvoir me passer d’OCM mais je me suis vite rendu à l’évidence : mes sorties nature étaient devenus malcommodes, tant dans la préparation que dans le vécu in situ. Donc, en attendant la fin de mon abonnement, j’ai installé une autre application, qui, elle, propose OpenCycleMap. Et je revis ! Iphigénie et Thunderforest, pouvez-vous retrouver un accord pour que les inconditionnels d’OpenCycleMap se réabonnent à Iphigénie et continuent à y utiliser OpenCycleMap ? Quitte à proposer OCM sur abonnement complémentaire ou dans un pack ? Vous avez fait notre bonheur pendant des années, donc il n’y a pas de raison que ça s’arrête ! Nous comptons sur vous.

Concernant le bug qui vous ramène souvent au centre de la France dès que vous changez de carte : je n’ai pas de solution. Astuces : pour avoir la dernière version de la carte IGN : purger toutes les cartes qui sont hors ligne. Pour faire fonctionner le baromètre : activer Mouvements et forme dans les réglages iPhone. Le calibrage du baromètre refonctionne, mais il faut désactiver / réactiver le bouton Altitude barométrique pour valider l’altitude…

L’anti ergonomie
Tout est compliqué dans Iphigénie. Quasi à chaque fois que je cherche à faire quelque chose de simple : tracer un route, mesurer une distance, comprendre mon orientation, je n’y arrive pas (la ou c’est directement intuitif à la concurrence). Dernière en date, autre chose : l’app me déconnecté de mon compte payant (me demande de réentrer mes identifiants) en pleine rando en zone sans réseau. Génial. J’ai du abandonner ma carte ne pouvant évidemment pas me connecter, sans réseau. C’est la goutte d’eau, ce sera la fin de mon abonnement payant.
Really needs a search in UTM AND MGRS
The app is ok and pretty easy of use however the search needs to implement MGRS and UTM search abilities. To implement the possibility to create a point with known MGRS/UTM coordinates straight away with a simple push of a button would turn this into a 5 star app

Disappointed
The previous version was fantastic ! You could zoom in so close but since the newest upgrade all you get is the most basic of maps unless you pay . So disappointed and will probably delete .
pas mal mais trop compliquée d’utilisation
Iphigénie est une bonne application. J’apprécie en particulier la précision qui permet de ne jamais se perdre. Par contre, l’utilisation est vraiment compliquée. Les problèmes commencent dès l’installation pour gérer son abonnement (Pack Outdoor en l’occurrence) par exemple. Je n’ai pas encore réussi à transférer mon abonnement sur mon nouveau tel, pourtant Android comme le précédent, qui me demande un numéro de vérification introuvable. Et ensuite, je n’ai pas encore trouvé de mode d’emploi simple qui permette de comprendre la gestion des multiples paramètres. Donc en résumé, une bonne application, utile, mais trop compliquée.
Déçue
J suis déçue de l’évolution commerciale d’iphigenie depuis que l’appli a été vendue au privé. Elle reste mon appli de référence pour toutes mes activités extérieures et pour moi la meilleure mais l’esprit a changé, c’est plus cher et il n’y a plus l’option des cartes SHOM. Le lien privilégié avec l’appli de montagne ne m’intéresse pas du tout. Ce qui fait l’intérêt d’iphigenie est sa pertinence pour tout typ d’activité et pour qui sait (veut) manier les cartes : c’est cela qu’il faudrait privilégier.
J'ai toujours été fan d'iphigénie, mais...
Belle application mais avec augmentation de prix successives importantes (20€ 2025, 25€ 2026) J'espère que le développeur ne perdra pas trop de clients. Peut-être faut-il qu'il envisage une version "Light", adaptée aux usages basiques (dotant qu'il existe des applications gratuites comme Organic Maps...)

Family sharing!
I use this app and it says it supports Apple family sharing. We can find no way to enable it so I have downgraded to one star. Please sort this out. You say yes to family sharing but do not offer a way to share.

Toujours super content de cette application que j'utilise depuis des années. Par contre 25% d'augmentation du prix d'abonnement en juin... ça va, on se fait plaisir ... j'espère que ça ne sera pas chaque année si on je vais vite passer sur des appli gratuites ..

Forte augmentation des prix récemment et pourtant toujours beaucoup de bugs et plantages et quelques fonctionnalités de base toujours absentes (par exemple impossible de calculer une distance et dénivelé sur une portion d’une trace)
Un prix qui augmente sans raison
J’ai Iphigénie depuis 8 ans, et cette application est incroyable (j’aime les cartes) Cependant depuis la vente à Whympr, entreprise privée, l’abonnement est passé de 15€ et 25€ sans changement majeur sur l’app, je conclut que la rente ne leur suffisait pas.
French Maps
It used to be free but now Pay the £3.99 for a month or £10.99 for the year if you walk or cycle in France this is a must take time to properly read through the French menu it's a little quirky but worth downloading
Cache issues
Purchase the 1 month subscription, but the cache function did not work. Purchased the 1 year subs, as suggested on forum, but cache still did not work. Application still saying in app purchase required. Don't buy this until the cache problem is sorted.
Excellent application mais
C’est vraiment une application complète assez datée côté interface mais cela n’est pas vraiment important. Il manque pour moi une fonction et ce serait 5 étoiles , c’est le fait d’avoir un mode always on pour que la carte reste toujours visible sur le téléphone. Oui c’est bien, permettre que la carte reste tout le temps affichée.
Problèmes de mise à jour
Je suis un utilisateur très régulier de l'appli IphiGeNie, pour la randonnée comme pour le guidage routier. J'ai récemment été très surpris de constater que des mises à jour cartographiques majeures n'y sont pas faites. Deux exemples : - au sud de Moulins, l'autoroute A79 n'apparaît tout simplement pas sur les cartes routières, - le contournement de la ville de Varennes sur Allier apparaît sur les cartes routières, mais pas sur les cartes d'état-major. Et il y en a pas mal d'autres... J'avais une très grande confiance dans la fiabilité de ces cartes. Ce n'est plus le cas.
Tarif devenu excessif
Il y a peu de temps, l’abonnement annuel était d’un peu plus de 15 €. Désormais augmentation de 10 € … Prix du pétrole ?
Excellent UI, very responsive
If I lived in France I would use this all the time - access to IGN maps and provisional cacheing make it ideal for cycle touring. Provisional cacheing of Open Cycle Maps is not possible (due to OCM T&Cs) so it is less of use to me at the moment, although the application is very fast, has been 100% stable and has a well thought out UI that has minimal impact on screen space. The author is also quick to respond to support questions and suggestions.
Not loaded even though I paid for it
I bought this app on my ipad, it picks up my position ok but despite reloading and restoring several times it won't go down to the lower scales, telling me I need a subscription (which I've paid for). It can be accessed on my iPhone down to the lower scales but fails to find my position via GPS.

Connexion impossible Bonjour, depuis la mise à jour de ce jour de votre application IPhigénie, il est impossible de se connecter même en réinitialisation du mot de passe, même en désinstallant-réinstallant l’application… Même en éteignant et ré-allumant mon iPhone, même en supprimant les cookies… Je remettrai les étoiles si ça remarche… Cordialement, JD

If you are a hiker, then this app is just fantastic. The equivalent all all the OS maps for France (which typically retail at e8 each) for free for e10 per year, with sat images and cadastral maps underlaying them. To avoid data costs when abroad, it's possible to download and cache the maps for the area you are walking in. Incredible value.
"Free" no. App wants $$.$$ for 1-year license !?
App wants $$.$$ for 1-year license !? That's not ?Free" For the money wanted get yourself a Michelline Map with far far more details, or rely on maps.google in Safar. Minus 5 Stars. Truly I mean it. You guessed it, I deleted within minutes.
Tricky uk but very powerful
This is a great app. It is the best way to get the superb IGN maps of France. Maps for several other European countries are available in the app. You can have two maps in use as overlays and shift between them - including geological maps. BUT the UI is generally fiddly and over complex. Also the manual is in French and omits (or hides!) some critical information- in particular that to switch from north top maps to rotating maps you need to triple-click the screen.
Watch for annual charges
It wasn't immediately obvious when I downloaded but there is an annual charge of around £10 for using the maps - you can buy a France Satnav for less than this. If your subscription isn't paid you can't even see the maps you've already downloaded. And you have to pay for the app that caches on your device. So disappointing in that regard. The actual maps are good, and the downloading works well but you're looking at £15 for your first year of using this.
Excellent maps but GPS disabled at source
Maps were excellent but no GPS as this was disabled by the software and I couldn't work out what to download to enable it, even though I had paid for a month's subscription
iPhiGéNie map of France
I liked this. I just have an iPod Touch with no GPS. I downloaded the detailed bits, before I left home (UK), so I did not need Internet access once I got to France except for more update information - which I got when visiting Cafés and bars where wifi was free. The detail is excellent - right down to footpaths in the little village I was staying in. Great - no need to carry a paper map. I have no idea how accurate and up to date this application is, but for local walks it was really useful....and for free too! Who can grumble?

Great Mapping - Quirky Interface
The reproduction of the IGN maps on a retina iPad and iPhone is just stunning. But the interface takes some getting used to. When I first reviewed this product I gave it only one star because I found the user interface to be so frustrating and unintuitive. However, one star is unfair for an otherwise excellent app. The cartography couldn't be better. Even down to 1:25 000 everything is rendered beautifully crisp and clear. This is ideal for long multi-day mountain treks when carrying a full set of 1:25ks would be impracticable. The display on an iPhone 5s is good enough in terms of coverage at a glance. Its incredible on an iPad. You have to re-download offline maps onto each device but routes can be cloud synced. The app is a bit buggy but for France I would choose it any time over a dedicated GPS navigator.
Why no Manual in English?
I'm sure this would be a very helpful app, but it is not too much use to someone whose French isn't very good. I am going to France in a fortnight and would be very happy to use the app, but haven't got a clue how to use it!!
cadastral?
after registering we were disappointed that we longer received cadastral maps, the largest scale maps seem to be rather useless coloured street maps with no site boundaries, or much detail of any use to anyone ! we also found the pricing for the different packages difficult to understand.
Brilliant!
I love maps and digital maps in particular. This app is worth every penny: it delighted and amazed me. Just completed 2,000 miles driving through France without a paper map at all. This is not a turn-by-turn satnav application, like a TomTom or the ones built into car dashboards. Having said that, anyone who has ever gone from A to B using only a map will find this a piece of cake, because rather than being stuck with one fixed scale like a paper map, you can zoom in and out getting more or less detail as you need it. And of course, the ipad's built-in GPS shows you exactly where you are on the map at all times. Map quality and detail are fantastic, putting to shame the limp offering recently and grudgingly released into free public use by the compromise between the UK's scheming Ordnance Survey and our idiot politicians. With this app, you go all the way from the whole of France on your screen to individual buildings and clusters, with outstanding labelling and metadata, through six or seven different map scales that transition smoothly from one to the next. There's even a google satellite view which you can fade in or out over whatever map scale you're looking at. Map storage: You can't just download all the maps at all the scales for all of France, which is what I'd have liked to do. You can only do this for smaller areas at a time. So you need to load up all the maps you might need before you leave home, or top up maps each night at your wifi-equipped hotel when you're in France. That's a bit of a pain, but once a map area has been downloaded, you're good to go without needing to rely on further connectivity. No continuous wireless access by wifi or 3G is needed when you're out exploring; the maps stay in your iPad. One fun feature I ended up using a lot was to fire up the track-my-movements mode and then sling the iPad in the car's glove box for the rest of the day. When you get home, you meanderings are all neatly marked on the map in red. I found the interface somewhat unfriendly in places; much more can be done to make searching for place names etc easier and more usable. I would say this is the single biggest thing the app developer needs to work on. Overall, this is a wonderful app. It's so fast and useful that strangers who spot you using it tend to come over and marvel and go away amazed -- especially older age groups who never could figure out what an iPad was FOR in the first place!
Replaces stacks of expensive French roadmaps
This app, being free and utterly simple seems at first another insignificant free app. BUT in action traveling throughout several regions including around Paris this app is an amazing tool. With a 3G or MiFi based wifi connection and using the GPS-equipped iPad, one can access detailed roadmaps without unfolding the very large, expensive and diabolically folded road maps common sold in France in the front seat, cutting off the driver's view and generally causing nervousness in the midst of trying not to miss still ANOTHER exit or a haphazardly posted road sign. Instead you can quickly access your region, your route itself, and expand to incredible detail or get a regional view. Plus, you location is shown by a little icon that is animated and not too small but not too big to be distracting. Get this if you plan to travel in France by car and by the time you will be there will be micro SIMs you can pop in and you've got a mobile stack of French roadmaps for free (right now). Saved us at least twice from being lost or ending up on the wrong auto route, which in France is a costly (literally) mistake.
Très utile pour la randonnée
Une app bien conçue pour les randonneurs. Télécharger une étape ou deux, puis suivre le chemin grâce au GPS de l'iPhone. J'en ai profité sur le GR 654 de Tonnerre à St.-Amand-Montrond. La vue satellite de Google Maps est un complément parfait.
Map Detail & Fees are Both Hidden!
This is a demo with little functionality and FAR LESS functionality than the free Google Maps, which works perfectly throughout France. When you start up, you will see a notification saying, “Licenses server: To subscribe to the service see the info page.” You must go to the in-app subscription page to buy the full version for US$5.99 AND to get the Geoportail license you must pay US$16.99 after the one free month for a one-year subscription. Being able to search for a specific address is only available in the Vmax module Just to compare this app with the included Google Maps I search Menton, France, the last main town going up the Côte d'Azur (aka French Riviera) before Italy. When trying to get down to street level, iPhiGeNie couldn’t show any detail at all that would make it useful: No street names, no points of interest, and no route numbers. Maps easily showed all of that, plus could pin point my exact location, track where movement, and it’s free! The best part of the app is the maps are the indigenous maps showing details you would see if you bought a folding map with terrane, elevation, and surface but not necessarily street detail. Having said all that, I probably actually would be this app and pay the subscription fee if I did a lot of driving or was an avid explorer or more remote areas. Then I could see it being very useful as a supplement to Maps. But to just find my way around, just use Google Maps. (Note well: You do need a 3G iPad/iPhone to get real-time tracking of your current location. You do NOT have to subscribe to a 3G service to get this. 3G iPads/iPhones have the GPS tracking built-in independently of whether you have cell service or not.)
Decent for trip tracking in France
After MotionX Drive failed to load local maps in France due to a (permanent) network error, I switched to this app as a navigation aid. Pleased with the ability to see where we were and where we were going, especially on country roads in the middle of Normandy. We even got (briefly) on a farm track that was mapped as a country road. (It was), but we knew how to route around. For most travelers, the ability to pre-load any level of map detail via WiFi will keep your France data downloads to a minimum, and save huge amounts of money on a one or two week trip. The iPad ability to zoom out and then zoom in to the 200 meter level is great and much appreciated. My wife the Navigator liked this app so much she wants an iPad. Note: the tracking and planning features are rudimentary. And you'll have to pay for a map update subscription after a few months, so one strategy would be to buy/install the month of your trip. Overall, I would use MotionX Drive if it worked in France as it has turn-by-turn voice instructions. Bon voyage!
Good offline map solution
Does the business. Excellent maps at a variety of resolutions. Much better value than the rip off OS map type apps. OS should look closely at this superior French offering IMHO.
Fabuleux patrimoine, terrible app.
App extrêmement limitée. Vous n'êtes habilités qu'à zoomer et vous déplacer dans une carte de France. Certes la qualité des cartes dépasse largement l'offre de Google map mais l'absence des fonctionnalités les plus basiques est atterrante. Affichage d'escargot (app volontairement bridée! pour inciter à l'achat d'un module payant.) Pas de possibilité de recherche (l'achat d'un module est également obligatoire) Pas de bookmarks Pas de cartes vectorielles (on a faire a des Pas d'options d'affichage (n'avoir que le réseau routier par exemple) Pas de liens directs pour email Pas de liens vers panoramio Pas de liens vers Wikipédia Pas de possibilité d'export (jpeg, Email, etc.) Interface peu pratique : le menu caché disparaît aussitôt apparu) Stratégie marketing... critiquable: faites simple, offrez une app lite et app pro. Conclusion: cette app est une pré-beta prématurée, et semble avoir été mise sur le marché pour faire plaisir à un chef de service non qualifié. La France quoi.
the French Map App
this is a very exciting application that allows you to access the French IGN maps. it works very fast allowing you to go down from a map of France to an extraordinarily detailed level and then switch backwards and forwards between maps and aerial photography. I have only just begun to explore it and be assured that it works very well in English. The developer has been remarkably helpful and I intend downloading most of the French maps that I need before my holiday. Those of us in Britain who have just witnessed the debacle of the ordnance survey refusing to release digital versions of essential maps have found another reason to envy the French!
Difficult to use
It's fine as an online mapping app and that's a first. Given how expensive some of the alternatives are, this is a good thing. However, despite being a paid up techy, I couldn't get the caching of maps (storing) to work at all. So, it I were to use it in France where I am going shortly, it won't work or will cost a fortune in roaming fees. It's also lacking in any decent GPS style functionality- it's just a map really. All the same, not bad. Permanent download onto the device is a must though and can't see these guys doing that.
Beautiful, but...
The price is extremely good value and the maps supported are excellent and up to date, but the interface is cryptic. The support documentation is all in French. So, unless you have a pretty good grasp of French, be warned. I downloaded a section of maps for the Dordogne region, for off-line use to avoid data rates, taking up a lot of space on my iPad, but I have no idea how to delete them, after I return from holiday and no longer need them. Okay, this is French mapping program, but get real, many English-only speaking people travel to la belle France and would enjoy this app. I'd give it five stars, if it had English documentation.
