Used to be so good
This app used to be exactly what i wanted from minesweeper. It was simple. Just minesweeper, no frills. Now you're inundated with ads unless you pay a subscription fee. A subscription. For minesweeper. Are you out of your mind?
Excellent Rendition of Minesweeper with Minor Issues
I’m greatly enjoying playing this Minesweeper game without ads or other nuisances. It runs great on iPads and iPhones alike, but a few minor issues keep this from being a perfect 5-star rating. The main issue is that the game has been a bit crashy at times. Once every hour or so, it crashes immediately, and I lose my game. This crashing is a pretty serious issue, although I’ll reiterate that it’s only occasional. The second issue I’ve noticed is a minor aesthetic issue: the “smiley” graphic (on the new game button) looks a little blurry and is a bit off. Strangely, on my phone, it has also shown as a retro-styled, pixellated version that never shows the “dead man” version when you die; it always stays the same. It’s an odd quirk that ruins the otherwise clean look of the game. Fixing the crashes would easily justify upgrading my rating to 5 stars. Finally, a feature enhancement I would really like is a dark-mode version for playing at night in bed by my sleeping wife.
Recent update is annoying
Ive been using this app for over 10 years. It succeeded as a quick 10 minute time kill once and a while especially when offline (air travel, poor connection, etc.). The recent updates force you to watch a long losing animation every time you hit a mine. And mind you, this is not the kind of Microsoft-style minesweeper where the first click is a guaranteed space with 0 mines adjacent to it. Meaning you often have to watch the animation a lot before you get a decent run going + click through UI. The controls are intuitive and pretty clean, though there is an exploit where you can test whether a mine is present by clicking between tiles in just the right way. I only recently found this and it is a bit risky since if there is a mine and your click is off you risk losing. But yeah I will explore my options now and find a new cheap minesweeper game that doesnt ask for a premium subscription (this one does now!). if there isn’t such a thing I will literally just vibecode a Minesweeper-like game into existence and distribute it for free because this is stupid

This was a great app, paid to remove ads a while ago. Now it's $9.99/yr to remove ads. F this app, F the devs, and F their unresponsive support. 0 out of 10, do not recommend
Boxes are too small for big fingers
I would have given this app five stars if there was a way to make the boxes larger. It is very difficult to just hit one of the very small boxes, which then causes an error.

Nur vergisst die App gern mal Spielstände, wenn ich nicht fertig geworden bin und später weiterspielen möchte. Manchmal geht dann auch die Einstellung für den Schwierigkeitsgrad verloren.
Ruined
Loved this game, had it for years, it’s now been ruined by ads, requiring a subscription to remove them, and the subscription is also needed to unlock difficulty levels and themes. I am uninstalling and will look for another version that isn’t a money grab. Shame as the game itself works perfectly in this version.
Buggy but better than adverts
The flags are slower to drop, and inconsistent time-wise so that you can think you've dropped a flag and end up somehow blowing up your game. It's also weird that no matter what level of difficulty of game, it always opens on a completed easy game. I'm pretty sure this is the same company that puts out the free version with adverts, but this is much buggier and a few times I've almost gone back to the free version out of frustration.

This was my favorite to play on Windows. I love that this app kept get game the way it’s always been, fun and simple. App works great and no ads is a bonus! Thank you!
Nothing good lasts…
I had loved this app for over 10 years. During that time, it was, as promised, a perfect mobile experience of the classic Minecraft game. Now, they’ve suddenly updated the app, ruining the aesthetic, messing with the menu options, and adding strange flagging behavior when tapping numbers. Also they’ve put in advertising and paid unlocks. The developers have abandoned their vision of bringing classic Minesweeper to mobile and are trying to scrape a dollar out of their long time users. It’s a disrespectful strategy. I’m deleting the app.
Glitches..
I love this app, I really do. But since the latest update I'm having the same issue of my taps not always registering, and of constantly getting the same board. Also the numbers seem to be aligned at the bottom of the squares now which looks really messy. Eagerly awaiting a patch :(
latest update ruined it
This app was nearly perfect and I’ve used the pro version for years. Now it has changed to a subscription model and the controls are ruined. Do not update.

UPDATE Aug 13,2025: tried the contact button in the game as developer asked. Received error message to “configure email in settings” This is the only phone game I have ever spent money on. Bought it in 2010 - had finally found a good version of minesweeper. I don’t play often, but it was always my go-to on flights. I just opened it because I was curious about the recent update. I see that now they want you to subscribe, or you can keep your basic version…okay - I’ll stick with the basics - minesweeper is not about frills. Then I see that I’m going to have to play with an ad bar at the bottom?! Well that’s annoying, but let’s try… Try to start a game and a full video ad starts?! Come on… Those of us who purchased the game should continue to have an ad-free experience.
Great game
Really addictive game but it keeps freezing and won't let me tap the squares i want. I just have to move around the screen until it eventually lets me play again.
Ruined a great game
I used to play this game all the time years ago. I recently tried to get back into it only to find out that the app I once paid for (this was supposed to be the “pro” version) now has ads and is trying to get me to pay $9.99/mo for a subscription. The UI used to be seamless and now is glitchy. The ads make the game experience miserable. Will be looking for an alternative.
Good but not perfect
It would be great if future updates gave the game a memory so that it could keep games and settings instead of having to both begin again, and visit the settings, before playing each time.
A new flaw
I've had this app a long time and it's been great. I'm glad to see it now has iPad support and that the edges no longer stick and stop you from pressing buttons. However every time I play I now seem to get the exact same set of mines. Please fix!!
DO NOT BUY!!!
I purchased the ad-free version with no issue to play uninterrupted. They then pushed an update which put tons of ads to my ad free version so the game is impossible to play. You can turn the ads off if you give them MORE money. Scam app from a scam company. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Used to be a simple little game…
This used to be a simple, fun little game to play. This latest update, added advertising, collected information (why does it need my birthday? Probably to engage in some business arrangement). When you finish a game, it brings up other ads and “opportunities” for other programs. What a way to kill a good program. I guess it’s time to remove it.
Needs colours back
While new update nice for minesweeper pro, losing different colours for each number is a huge step back.
Nearly Top Marks~
Very addicting game. Looks just like the classic PC version. One minor thing though- when your zoomed in and you swipe in the direction you want to view, it carries on going and takes a while to stop, and you have to wait to carry on playing. Thats my only complaint.
Charging For What I Already Bought
I paid for this app back in 2013 and now they added ads and are charging a $9.99/year subscription to remove them. What a shame.
Great classic game except the lag.
Love the game! I used to play it so much back when computers had floppy disk drives! Only thing is that it should be played in landscape and it also lags a bit which can get really frustrating. Otherwise, a great app!

First review I’ve written, because I don’t like to write reviews. Don’t prompt me every time I win a game because it’s a swift excuse for a refund or a negative review. Game itself is totally fine and does what it says on the tin.
OK but could be better
Nothing wrong with the game itself, but it is rather unresponsive. Half the time the buttons don't press, particularly annoying bearing in mind it takes two buttons just to start a new game.

Dishonest App Developer
I paid for this app in 2010, and now the developer has converted it into an ad-filled cesspool with a subscription fee of $9.99 per year. On top of that, the app is now buggy, whereas it used to function flawlessly. Attempting to place flags on squares often causes nearby existing flags to turn into question marks, making it likely that you activate a mine rather than flag it. So basically, the paid app was loaded with bugs and then converted to a subscription model. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to avoid downloading any app from this developer, especially one with a “one-time” fee. I hope this developer’s money grab for an already-paid-for app backfires on them magnificently and causes them to lose future subscribers.

This app is great, the gameplay is just like on a PC, however, when I complete a medium difficulty (not sure whether it is the same on all difficulties) it does not prompt me to enter my details for a high score...even though I've never got one?

Game is true to original and very stable. Is what they say it is, I play it all the time and it is one of my most played games. I would rate 4 stars if landscape mode was available. Especially for expert mode! This is basic function of an iPhone, not good enough to have left it out of the app! I would rate this 5 stars if there was an improvement to the touch accuracy. It is frustrating to lose the game when you mean to tap one square only to have the app decide that you touched a different one...

Unskippable 30 second ads
I’ve had this app since high school and it’s hands down been the best minesweeper app of all. Now, almost 15 years later, they’ve added 30 second to 1-minute unskippable ads that basically make the app insufferable to use. Deleting from my devices and never installing again. So sad to see everything going down the drain like this.

OK, but...
It needs an update. If you hit a mine, it takes a noticeable amount of time to actually let you know. It's as if the game freezes for a second, so you try to carry on playing, and then find out you've been blown up. This is very annoying & needs sorting!
Awful annoying version
Is it only me who finds that when you try to flag a square it refuses to flag it, instead, instead, it decides to reveal the square and the mine underneath - so you never finish a round because it keeps blowing you up. There must be better ways to work the interface. I want my money back

I’ve had this game on my phone for years as a simple and pleasant diversion. The most recent upgrade is a shock - now you are met at the splash screen with links to comprehensive (and invasive) privacy policies and apparently a subscription requirement. This is not an upgrade but a product change and it’s disingenuous to list it as a simple update. The privacy policy is vague and gives enormous rights to the company. I’ll delete it now - there are many other choices

Am a minesweeper fan so having it on the go it pretty great. Only missing the right click flag function I'm used to on Windows. Have accidentally touched the screen to lightly at times intending to flag only to lose the whole game!
