IGN Entertainment reviews
4.3 out of 5, based on 30,865 reviews.
What people like
- Great news and review content
- Dark mode looks nice now
- Better than using the website
What they complain about
- Login loop breaks commenting features
- Ads interrupt you constantly
- Age lock traps users permanently
Comments are basically broken
Every time you try to make a comment, or even like something, it’ll ask you to sign in… Even though you are already signed in. And then, if you try to sign in again and make the comment, it’ll ask you to sign in yet again… basically you could never make a comment unless delete app and uninstall it every damn day, sometimes multiple times a day. I’m done with it.
Age lock
App is locked due to age restriction even tho I’m 26 , I deleted it and reinstalled it same issue.
Better
App runs smoother and now not getting an iPhone 17 Pro add every three seconds able to read my gaming content in peace and at my pace.
Just ok
This app is fine for articles and news, but if you want to comment on anything good luck, I’m logged into my account and every time I try to comment it asks me to log in again.
Love IGN. Hate the app
Man oh man… I love IGN. I love the content. I love the hosts of all the shows and podcasts especially Beyond & NVC. Love the reviews, on sale sections, news, events. But boy is this app bad and keeps getting worse. It crashes all the time. I have to log in almost every day. The videos don’t play or play and then crash… 5 stars for IGN content/creators and 0 for the app
IGN app is an awesome!
IGN app is an awesome!
Age Lock
This is just a horrible update. No way to fix it. No web resource or option in the app to turn on age verification.
Iphone 17 ads fixed
Thank you for fixing the nonstop iPhone 17 ads. It was ruining the app. Back to normal now. Thank you.
Frustrating
A pretty terrible app. Constantly get logged out and then even when you log back in it will still have you logged out. I don’t think I’ve dealt with a worse app when it comes to login issues.
Missing out on some great features
I really like the IGN PC and mobile site. The app is severely lacking in quality features (including IGN playlist). I was hoping I would be able to access checklists and tasks on the app because the mobile site only works well 50% of the time and it’s obnoxious. PLEASE add guides checklists and maps to the app!!! They’re so helpful when you’re trying to find the few things you’re missing!
New version
Two things for me on iPhone se. First, the content still deserve 5 stars. The app I don’t mind the visual change. The two things that really bug me and I stopped using it because of that are: 1- when you hit back after reading something you go all the way back up the feed, then you need to searching back down for other fresh news 2- not possible to move between article by swiping side, it’s a quality of life design issue but I feel it’s missing. Fixed issue 1 !!! Yeah I’m going 5 stars ! Point 2 would be a nice addition !
Age verification issue
I had mistakenly declined the age verification and am now locked out of the app completely. Even uninstalling and reinstalling app doesn’t give you a chance to correct. Very poor user experience!
Less ads yay
Pretty much the only reason I got this is to see less ads. The browser version is nearly impossible to use with ads everywhere. Great app. I have a suggestion, could we add a shortcut to get to the top of the page when we press the news button in the menubar. Scrolling all the way to the top is cumbersome.
Can't like or repsond to comments
Every time I try to like or respond to a comment, it keeps sending me to the login screen. Even after deleting and redownloading the app.
Ads take over
It is annoying when video ads pop up without being clicked on, and I don’t understand why whatever audio I am listening to on my phone has to turn off from just opening the app. I don’t even try to watch/listen to anything on the ign app. It just turns off my music/podcast. It’s annoying.
iOS 13
The app looks great now with dark mode but there are a few bad points such as the text being so hard to read on any article, the text is faded away and the top tab remains white and does not suit the new back, it should all be dark.
Age verification glitch
I was not paying close attention when I opened the app after the mid-August update and clicked “don’t share age”. There is no way to undo it. I redownload the app and it still locks me out. Ridiculous. Oh, and the app support page is a dead link…
Search bar is BACK!!!!
IGN finally put the search bar back!!! This app is no longer useless! Thank you IGN for listening to our feedback. Took you long enough tho
The ads and videos overtake my feed & can’t sign in
This app for the most part is pretty good but when the ads in my feed start they immediately take over my screen and I can’t read anything. The app for some reason won’t let me sign in so I can’t comment on any post and I’ve tried reinstalling the app but that doesn’t fix it and it’s been like this for years; but there was one update where it was fixed but by the next update it was broken again. I have been going to the site since it was ign64 but this app is so/so and I’ve honestly given up that it’ll ever function without any issues.
Good content marred by a poor app UX
I like IGN as a news source and the app used to be much better. Now it’s plagued with technical issues other reviews have mentioned. Ads that go full screen just by scrolling on/past them, no edge swipe to go back navigation, and a login feature that’s almost completely broken. Please fix these things IGN
IGN review
Nobody does it better !!!!
App No Longer Works
I used to access this content multiple times a day. I clicked the wrong button and now the app won’t let me in. Uninstalled multiple times and still can’t access. Terrible design.
Good
After some much needed updates app now runs really well.
90% ads, 10% articles
The feed is just an endless amount of “deals” articles which are simply affiliate ads. The amount of those that you have to scroll through between news articles is nauseating. Totally useless app.
Could be better
Love IGN and I’ve used the app for years. The ads can be pretty annoying. I understand they are the chief source of revenue, but sometimes (and idk if this is a glitch or purposeful) when you scroll past them, if you even just touch it, it opens the ad. It’s very annoying and feels buggy compared to other scrolling apps with ads like instagram. Also, when you are trying to find archived stuff (mainly guides) it feels very clunky and disorganized to reach the right page
Update
It is a fantastic app bt plz update it for iphone x screen
Age lock out pass…
Locked out by age restrictions I’m out!
Hate the new font, like the old one better.
I wish I can downgrade to the last version of this app.
The “For You” section always shows stories that are several months old
Every time I open this app.. alls I see is stories and reviews from like 7 months ago because it defaults to “For You” which doesn’t seem to work at all.
Constant Issues
I have been using this app for years now and it just keeps getting worse to the point I can’t even leave comments anymore, keeps wanting me to login over and over again in a never ending loop.
Exactly what I was looking for
It provides news and reviews on exactly the things I want and love. It has a well balanced review and news system between games, movies and TV shows, and Tech. Great job, IGN!
For You Section
The For You section does not update or show anything worthwhile. No option to get rid of it. Just a broken app as it stands.
Few more improvements needed
Ign india should also display the game prices for various online websites like amazon which will be great
Scrolls to the top on its own?
Since a recent update, the app scrolls back to the very top by itself whenever I exit an article and go back to the main page. Why does it do this? It makes no sense. I constantly have to scroll back down to where I was. Please fix.
Rename it “ign sales”
It’s just full of ads about where to get the latest deals and merchandise now.
Excellent
Nice app
Adult ads and misleading filtering
2 huge problems. 1 it has always been completely overrun with ads and affiliate link which are annoying. Recently however they have started introduced adult ads into the app and it’s completely unacceptable for an app primarily targeted at young adults and underage children. 2 I have always used filter by newest and it just doesn’t care. It still forces its algorithm based scroll which I can’t stand.
Boorobaba
I find IGN to be appropriate for game reviews, walkthroughs, game plays & cheats. It's very satisfying and I always buy new game cds after consulting with IGN.....Thanks IGN team, u r doing good job....
Why lock turning auto play off behind having an account
App was good until they locked videos to auto play wail scrolling unless you create an account to turn it off
Missing basic functionality
Tapping on any of the tabs dose nothing, if you scroll down a bit then tap on a tab nothing happens. No refresh, no going back to the top no going to the section you want..
Gaming Freak
Awesome app really helpful...
Incompetent Gaming Negligence
This stupid app won't let me login with my password. It's incompetently designed and should be banned from the App Store.
Video nt wrkin
Video nt wrkin properly !!!! Else its perfect !!!!
Ads Auto Play as you scroll through feed
Ads Auto Play as you scroll through feed
Update is kind of bad.
No search ability? Really?
Awesome thing!!
The ign app i was waiting for..js ossm...kudos!!
It works until it doesn’t
I use the app quite a bit and would like to engage in comments more, but as another reviewer said, it asks me to log in again (even though I’m logged in) if I want to comment. It doesn’t always do this, but enough to be an annoyance and me change my review until it’s fixed. The “for you” section isn’t curated very well and the ratio of ad promotions and what not to actual articles is way out of balance. Love IGN and the IGN crew, but the app needs help.
Good app
Nice to keep me update about gaming news but what is the problem with article sharing???
Login troubles and intrusive ads
The app often gives me trouble when attempting to login to engage in comments. It'll work for a time but eventually I need to reinstall the app to get it functioning again. The ads can be very intrusive too. One popped up recently that I could not close out of until it played in full. I have an off/on relationship with the app because I enjoy reading the reviews and seeing what people have to say about them, but I more often than not I end up deleting the app from my phone out of frustration.
Not bad
Pretty good. Looks nice. If you hit learn more on an add then return the app is frozen. iPhone 11
