A classic game concept made for modern mobile devices
Lots of fun and definitely a challenge if you don’t tweak the settings or buy the support packs. I’ve been enjoying it both ways:) Note to the developer: Reading all these clowns complain about having to to pay was quite entertaining. Why are they mad that they didn’t read there what they were buying. I think you made a smart choice with the free with ads or pay once for no ads model! Keep up the good work:)

Pretty good so far
I’m only level 2. There seems to be a number of things to do in the game. Hopefully it remains interesting.
A couple annoying bugs
First . It this is self produced you should be proud of what you’re doing. I have been playing d&d style games for over 30 years. So this is my take on your game. I also have play tester for multiple games and written for them. The parts I find quit annoying are these bugs ; hence the low review. If you can make these couple changes I’ll be happy to reevaluate the game and give a better review. Came across this several times. Facing three elementals and one has 50 hit points. It took four tries to be able to run away. Was almost killed trying to get away. I see the percentage ability of running away , but after the third try you should have everyone be able to leave the combat. Need to have access to more spells and or to level them up sooner. There is too much of a grind for the low access to spells. Have cleared the board of tiles numerous times and still had to pay gold to leave the dungeon. There was no exit. You need to have more healing available. Several times I have gone back to town out of healing only to find NO healing to buy. You’re algorithm for experience and gold earned needs to be changed. It so too random , especially on the low end. There are a couple more bugs , but these are the more annoying ones. But again , you should take pride in what you have done here and continue to do . Bug in Battle Academy
I've been playing this game on and off for a couple of years. The art and writing is great, as well as the mechanics - the diversity in skills and upgrades really allows you to experiment with the build. Game does get a bit tedious as you reach higher levels and inventory management starts taking over. It seems like crafting should be a bigger part of the game, but certain ingredients never show up in loot to be able to craft potions. Encountered for the first time an annoying bug today in the Battle Academy. Pressing the "Forget" button on a spell made me lose 50gp instead of getting it back! Tested with another character and it was the same thing. Please fix!
One of my favorite games.
Simple graphics and excellent game play. I have replayed the game several times trying out different hero builds. Check out Grim Quest and Grim Omens as well.
Attacks Not Working
Neither the skill nor spell attacks work when characters are in the dungeon. Tapping or long pressing gets no response.

Very clever concept. Surprisingly simple to play but complex interaction. Certainly keeping my interest so far.
Too grindy at the start
This would be a better game if you didn’t die so often at the start, lose half your gold then not have enough gold left to buy items to restore your health. Also, the skills at level 1 are very overpriced and have little to no effect. Seems a bit convoluted for the sake of having options. Case in point: at level 1 (after spending 170 gold on an option to increase my effectiveness) I faced 3 opponents who obviously wiped the floor with me, lost half my gold, could only afford some Moldy bread, destroying my chances of returning to the dungeon, all inside 3 blocks of the entrance. After my 4th attempt to enjoy it I just gave up. This game is ok as a time waster, but not so much for enjoyment, unless you like to grind from the start.
Pretty Good
This game looked very good in the store but I downloaded it and it was not as I was expecting. The dungeon crawler aspect was the part I was most excited for but there was almost no strategy to it and it got very boring. After a few dungeons it got very repetitive and boring, but the idea was good.

Please add the utility skill tree from the PC version! I think it would add a lot more fun and exploration on playbacks!
just plain tedious
I have read some of the reviews for this game and it seems to go down a storm with most players. Yet, i have to say that for me it’s just plain tedious. Generally i’d call myself a voiceover user though I do play without it whenever possible since it’s slow, sluggish and makes every game you play using it boring, more of a chore than a game. Apple needs to do something about that but I’ll vet it won’t. Anyway, back to the game. it takes forever and a year to even create a character. There’s virtually no explanation as to what the aim of the game is. There’s nothing to tell you what you need to do in order to get on with things. it asks you to pick an avatar. Like it matters? Anyway with voiceover, it just says you’re a button. well, that’s nice. I could be the Cinderella butler then could I? Then there’s no obvious way to expand your inventory like there is in grim quest. I have played a bit and, to be honest, it’s time out of my life i won’t get back. Things don’t end up in my inventory after battles and the enchantment screen is worse since, apparently you have to unequip your weapon or what have you in order to even do it. Tedious again. It’s one of those games that needlessly complicated. Grim quest is way better than grim tides if only because you really know where you are. Grim tides feels like filling in a lengthy tax returns form instead of an entertaining game. Grim quest on the other hand is great by comparison.
Fun but repetitive, pay wall
Damage numbers are inconsistent and once u pass the first stage you have to buy it. Ya I get trial and error but u arent told when u have to buy it u just get hit with it and that’s kinda rude considering the progress u make before u can’t continue.

Great game with a good storyline. Some of the screens could use some voiceover improvements though.
Dungeon map screens contain icons not recognizable by VoiceOver. Haven't found a way to use forge or alchemy screens at all. Also, battle academy and the ship facilitiesand upgrade screens require voiceover users to scroll through all the options before reaching the action buttons. . Still managed to finish the main quest, so not issues are not show-stoppers.
$6.99 for full game?
Good game but not worth $7 this is 2022 you could build a game like this on unreal in a day.

This games mechanics sucks unlike previous titles
I loved Grim Quest. I ran through it as a Battlemage, mopped the floor with a lot of the game. This one isn’t even close to as good even with the exact same graphics and style. I like to run XXL size dungeons, tell me how I can make it to the 2nd map before I ever get overwhelmed on Grim Quest. But on this game? I’ve created 4 characters just trying to clear the first floor. The enemy is getting stupid buffs like B2B critical hits taking 8 health in a hit with 3 enemies. I died in my first fight, on easy, in 4 rounds of attacks. I selected max INT, 2x AOE spells, and buffed STR as a backup. I went into the match, I got 70hp, 3 enemies got like 10-12 hp each ok cool. I use 1st AOE spell (hits for 5-7 base with INT buff). I dealt 1 damage each. Got hit for 20. 2nd AOE spell, 1 damage each. Now I’m below half health. THIS WAS MY FIRST FIGHT ON THE FIRST FLOOR, HOW DID YOU MESS THIS UP SO BADLY.

This game starts off fun and exciting if you are into the style of game. As you progress in level it begins to feel repetitive, very rinse and repeat. Kinda wish there was more aspects to the game, or each dungeon had more marked uniqueness.

Skip to Grim Omens
After picking up, finding it worth paying for ad-free, and finishing Grim Omens, I figured I would try this. I found this unplayable. First dungeon of blank tiles i had 3 combats on the harder difficulty setting. 2nd dungeon of 25 tiles-no combat, 0! and just 2-3 encounters. Then it wants me to watch an ad to get my pittance of coins for next to no adventure? No thanks. But Grim Omens was worth playing. Weird
fun, use of ai art though
pretty much exactly as advertised just a warning though— all of the background art is very obviously ai generated. as an artist, it’s kind of difficult for me to support using ai instead of commissioning an artist. cheers.
Too hard at the beginning
Way to hard qt the beginning Gaining level is a bit useless because you don’t get more powerful, only weapons or armor change anything… also why do i lose money getting out of a dungeon…

I loved this game but now when I try to re play it it wants me to pay to unlock the full game. I’m sad I can’t play one of my favorite rpg mobile games anymore

They tell the person they’re wrong and do so in an extremely childish and immature way. Buddy if you’re going to be developing games, maybe learn to take Criticism. If you think I’m kidding, go read through how this developer respond to individuals with critique. It’s petulant, unprofessional, and entitled. Until this dev learns some humility, do not support

Absolute legend of a Game
Pros: there’s only pros 1. The story and lore is beautiful 2. Items, resources and equipment are creatively built and designed 3. A dungeon crawler I’ll always crawl back to I would love to see a space based sci-fi “dungeon” or planet crawler.
Pay to play
Kinda sucks that the other dungeons are locked behind a level cap, an even if you unlock a new area or get to a high enough level in the first dungeon, after that there is a transaction needed or you can’t play the game after that, kinda feel like I wasted a good amount of my time playing this game to lose it all because instead of making it clear where their pay wall is they wait till you waste your time in the game before demanding money so you can keep playing, the game should be payed for before you can download it other ways I don’t recommend this game ever.
