Hueva.
Decent app but hard to get around
This is sort of a funny review. The app was a little bit buggy, and sometimes it was very hard to get the app to approve the bicycle checkout. So long as I double checked that the bike was docked correctly I had no problem stopping my time. I ran into two problems with ecobici. First sometimes the bikes just didn’t work. A couple of times I had bikes back just spun out because the gearing was broken, and my partner had bikes with loose brakes and seats that would not stay up. Second, and this is no real knock on Ecobici, Mexico City is a nightmare to get around on a bike. Unless you know the city extremely well or have flawlessly working maps expect to get lost a lot. And very frustrated. A bunch of times I had an estimate on Google Maps of a ride of less than 30 minutes and it ended up taking me 46 minutes, which meant that I got charged a bit more on ecobici. The charge was low enough, but navigating traffic and unclear directions made something that is always fun for me – riding a bike – and incredibly stressful experience. I’m exceptionally comfortable riding in traffic, but getting lost was just unbearable. I wouldn’t use bikes again in CDMX.
Super easy
Great app, great way to get around CDMX
No refund option
Great service but why are you auto renewing an annual subscription and not giving me the option to refund it even though I haven’t used the service for the last 11 months
Bien

Amazing app! It works excellent. This is a pretty useful tool for exploring the city by bike.
Takes your money
The app/software doesn’t work. Three times I’ve locked my bike up and it doesn’t register as the ride is finished, even though it’s locked in. I can’t remove the bike, I can’t lock it up, and it just sits there running up my bill. Customer service doesn’t respond. This is a scam.
Mantenimiento
Used to work…
I visited CDMX a couple years ago and the app worked fine. Now I’m back and it won’t take any of my credit cards. Doesn’t have Apple Pay. Each rider needs their own app / device. It needs to verify your identity and asks for address. I just want to ride a bike…
Fine when it works
But it will fail you at the worst time. Lots of bikes broken.
Gracias
Muchas veces no funciona
Entonces, no funciona.
Awesome app
This app made it super easy… we still struggled a bit learning how to bike around this city but as we became familiar it was quite fun. I would bring a helmet with you
Faulty app - overcharged for hours
Bike stands constantly have issues with checking out bikes. I also checked a bike in but apparently it wasn’t fully docked so I got charged for hours afterwards and customer service was not helpful.
Great if you can get it!
My partner was able to get his 3 day pass on his phone. Mine just would not work. I had to go to the Ecobici kiosk. After about an hour, the guy had to use his own email address for me to get the pass. However, once it works, it’s fantastic. There are loads of docking stations across the city. Maximum ride is 45mins. But if you ride for 40 then dock, wait 2 minutes, then start over, you can ride all day. We rode from Polanco to Coyoacán to the Frida Khalo museum. We just kept docking the bikes along the way.
Falta de bicicletas en hora pico

Perfect for explorers
As a tourist, I can walk and walk all day, but having the bike lets me choose to shave a few kilometers or more off each exploration and lets me see more of this beautiful city
Payment doesn't work
Can't pay US card, tried multiple times different cards website and app, unclear error messages and no way to fix
Gran servicio
App doesn’t work all of a sudden
I ride Ecobici every day. All of a sudden the app isn’t working at all. It takes me like 10 minutes to be able to retrieve a bike. I have my location services on, I paid my phone bill. It’s pretty frustrating at the service is otherwise very good. Please redo the app or undo the update you recently did ! It’s taking forever.
Must have in CDMX
It works. Need more bike routes.
American - app & website not working!!
App will send the 10 min expiration email to register account (to ride at all) up to an hour after submitting….went to website, on three bars of AT&T service for 10-15 minutes and 3-day pass page/button would not load. Terrible technology/systems for American email/phone #.
Great way to get around
Download the app 1st add your bank card then wait. After a bit it comes through. Once set up it’s good. Be prepared for the odd faulty bike and watch out for the traffic!
Most of the time it works (not great!)
It works like 95 percent of the time. When it doesn’t, it’s a huge pain. Hard to rely on this as an alternative transportation system to cars/transit when it can cost you time/money if you’re trying to get somewhere on time and docks won’t unlock bikes or tell you you’re over the limit of uses (??) when you have an annual membership.
Fantastic service!
After a few days in CDMX, we tired of the nonstop traffic congestion and downloaded this app. We rode Ecobici for 2 days totally liberated! The app was great, albeit a bit slow sometimes, but gave us all the information we needed including available bikes, available spots for return, location of the bike lots on a map, etc. The service was overall great - the bikes, aside from the brakes, worked well and the lot locations were conveniently and generously located. Overall, it was a great service! Integration with Google maps would be icing on the cake.
Way too much personal info needed
I started to sign up, but then realized they wanted entirely too much personal information just to be able to rent a bike. Don’t mind giving someone my credit card to rent a bike, but I don’t want to give them my birthday, phone number, email address, Identification information, and my home address… just to rent a bike.
The best way to get around in Mexico City
Easy to use and highly informative for routing, etc.
Locked out of account
I paid for a seven day pass and I’m now locked out of my account and suspended. Customer Service won’t get back in touch with me and they don’t answer the phone number provided.
Essential for CDMX
I love these bikes and I use them daily and I can get around the city easily and much quicker than cheaper than an Uber. Yes, sometimes there are issues as others have said but I think this to be expected from such a big network of bikes so throughly used by people. As long as you take care while docking and make sure the bike is returned (wait for confirmation) you should be good 99% of the time. I had one time where I had docked but the bike was still registered out even though it was securely locked in the dock and I only realised a while afterwards. I just had to refresh the app like 10 times and suddenly it recognised the bike was docked, but I got charged for 2 hours. This was also my fault for not taking the time to check the dock had registration the return at the station. So just be careful and make sure the bike is confirmed returned in the app before leaving, even if it beeps OK.
User friendly
I love the whole public transportation system. Good work CDMX!
Camera doesn’t work so unusable
Camera doesn’t work so unusable
App works well
It’s a good app and it works well. The map is the most useful function. However, there are some bicycles with the same branding around the city that do not seem compatible with the app — these bikes look older and do not appear on the map inside the app.
