Gamechanger
I loved this app before because of its planning functionality, but now it’s simply a necessity as the cost of living starts to hit. I would never have thought I’d be an Aldi shopper, but here we are. The Easy Eats are BRILLIANT and I feel so great knowing I’m making better, simpler - and more often than not - more economical changes. Thank you for all your hard work #ss team!
Deceptive: need to pay for it to be useful
Would have been good to know you need to pay to use the app before downloading and registering. Dodgy practices which makes me feel the items would be selectively chosen. I don’t trust it
Account creation
Can’t do anything with this app. Can’t create an account… error 502
Big improvements needed
At a $100 per year subscription fee, this app needs to be MUCH better. Not only is the user experience poor (did you test this app?) you don’t even have the most simple of products listed ie weetbix. With a subscription cost so high I would expect to see most common products listed. I wont be signing on past my free trial.
Not keeping my membership
I like the idea of this app, but half the time I don’t know if a product doesn’t come up in search because it hasn’t been added or if it’s not recommended. I would love a barcode scan function that could find the product and tell you either way. Also; it’s really slow to open the app, which is very unhelpful when I’m trying to shop with my kids, and I’d like to quickly check something. Love shopping better for my family, but should be easier and more functionality in the app.
Nothing but love for this app
I have learnt so much from this app and check it often, especially when looking for a different item that I haven’t bought for awhile, I also scroll through the supermarket list to get new ideas. I have made so many swaps so we have additive free food.
Not free - warning.
So sick of ‘free apps’ that are just behind subscription walls. Just charge a one off. Having another thing to subscribe to and pay monthly is insane. Do we not own anything anymore. Hard pass, disappointing. I thought this company wanted to increase awareness - but it’s gonna cost you. A donation method would be better.
Precious time saved
Really helpful in choosing the right food for my family. Our precious time is saved by using this app.
Great Concept ~ Needs some work
Great concept, was excited to download after learning about it on Spotlight program. Unfortunately couldn’t even get into the app. Hasn’t been updated in 7 months, paid subscription which is ok if you get what you pay for. Here’s hoping some improvements can be made so it works.
It’s ok- good recipes
Most disappointing of all is the constant recommendation of imported meat and goods that are easily replaced with Australian made/grown- why support imported meat and produce? The content on preservatives and additives is great, but once you get used to what products work for you, it’s not really needed anymore. I used it for the first week now I know what to avoid. Unless you shop and Woolies or Coles and your stores actually stock items, the ‘specials’ feature is very quickly frustrating and useless, unless you plan your meals based on the specials rather than the other way around. The recipes are great, and we have enjoyed trying new ones. Won’t be renewing though.
Best app EVER
The best app I have ever used! It has been worth every cent to subscribe for the year. In my first shop I save the yearly fee! It has helped my whole family create an additive fee pantry. Love love love
Not worth it
Very slow and waiting 1-8 minutes just for it to load, have to make an account and then pay a subscription service just to use to. I would recommend people go shopping in person to your local grocery and just look at the ingredients list and avoid anything you can spell or heard of before instead of a subscription app telling you the same thing.
It is good but could be better.
This is a good app, however I feel for the price each month there should be more Aldi options we can look at. Right now it is limited. If they could give information on where to get good chicken/meat/lamb depending on Aldi Coles or Woolworths, that would be great. Using the tick button to add your list, sometimes it doesn’t work for me and it isn’t clear from the first instance if I clicked it or not. If shopping lists could be accessed easily that would be great. Costco is another option to add. I generally subscribe for a month then unsubscribe then subscribe again unless I need to. This app could do better
Crashing code 502
Cannot for the life of me get this app to work. Downloaded, signed up followed instructions but falls into cycle of not progressing. Pity I had high hopes.
Insane !!
I love this app. I’ve learnt so much and am so informed when I go to the store now
Casinera1009
App won’t let me join.
Disappointed
Download it hoping I can find better deals and meal prep options only to find you have to pay a ridiculous amount to use the app, as someone who’s struggling financially at the moment, it’s really frustrating.
Best app for finding clean and healthy foods
I use this app multiple times a week. It helps me to plan my shops and meals and I know the information is correct and presented beautifully. All the hard work of deciphering labels and ingredients has been taken care of and I can shop more quickly now I know what is safe and good for my diet and general health. Well done Nabs and the SS team! You have a subscriber for life.
Crashes
Downloaded the app, created an account and failed to get in. Deleted the app, changed the password and still failed. 504 message. Hope there’s an update to fix this.
It’s not really a swap tool
Disappointed in this app. I was hoping that I could add a supermarket staple (or scan the code) and it would provide me with a better/cleaner option. But no. If something is not in the app, it’s no good, and you need to navigate through yourself on what might be a better option (eg muesli bar, no real alternative, so change search to snack bar to be able to see something). Definitely not like what their insta reels are like. I do like that their prices are updated with specials.
Use it multiple times per week.
I use this app multiple times a week. I started with a monthly subscription but swapped to annual because I got so much value from it.
I want to love this but…
I really want to love this app. They post great content on instagram and I want to support them however the search function is a nightmare. No category search, if you don’t know the exact product name you won’t find it. There are spelling mistakes and inconsistent spelling (example lasagna/lasagne, Cleavers/Cleaver’s) which makes finding things even harder - only exact matches show in results. I have reached out to the team but had no response at all, which makes it even more frustrating as they promote a community vibe. At this time I would suggest following on instagram but not wasting your money with the app☹️
Needs improvements
Great concept, but the value isn’t there yet. I shop mostly online, and the Coles/Woolworths apps show me “my specials” each week. Since I already purchase additive free foods, this feature is all I need really. Maybe this app is good for someone who is trying to make more swaps, but even then, after a couple weeks you wouldn’t need the app anymore. Or, just use the free content Supermarket Swap and other pages offer on Instagram What would be better is if this app suggested recipes based on the weekly specials!! Another massive flaw is the lack of proofreading in the recipes. The amount of times recipe instructions call for an ingredient that is not in the ingredients list is so frustrating. I’ve made so many last minute trips to get ingredients to successfully cook the recipe. This wastes both my time and money. On the flip side, there are sometimes ingredients in the list that aren’t even included in the instructions! So I end up missing that it needs to be included, and that item gets wasted. I’ve wasted way more money due to this than any sort of cost savings this app claims to provide. Especially since I’ve subscribed for $100 for the year.
Well worth the money
Absolutely in love with this app. It takes all the guess work out of grocery shopping.
SS
There’s a membership don’t bother downloading this app.
A bit disappointing
Great idea that’s trying to be helpful in supporting people to make better supermarket choices, but most items are from Woolworths or added by users. It’s an expensive app that is propped up by user generated content. The value just isn’t there yet to justify the cost.
THE BEST APP
I wouldn’t know what to do without SS!! The most amazing app that has taken the guess work out of trying to understand the supermarket aisles and being able to AVOID the awful additives that are put into the foods we buy! Thank you SS for making food shopping ENJOYABLE & better for my family xx
Deceptive - no mention of costs
Deceptive marketing with this app. I don’t mind paying for good apps, however I am less inclined to want to purchase an app that did not mention in the description accessibility is limited without membership fees. You have to sign up, register, security code, log in.. only to then discover you have to pay. Highly disappointing .
Ok if you shop at Woolies
The developer shops at Woolies and you can tell as the majority of the limited products in this Ap are from Woolworths. For example, almost every Woolworths bakery bread is listed but only one from Coles when most of them are additive free. Another example is cheese. You can find Woolies mozzarella, slices, blocks etc but not for Coles. I kindly asked the developer many months ago if there were plans to expand the range for Coles and it was suggested I should send the products in so they could be added. This defeats the purpose of laying a hefty annual fee! The Ap itself is clunky and often freezes when scrolling. My annual subscription is soon due to renew however I will pass as none of these issues have been addressed in the last two years of subscribing.
Lifesaver
This app has saved my life! No more reading labels and no more spending hours thinking about what to cook the fam for dinner. New specials and preservative/additive free items added each week! Thank you for helping me eliminate nasties from my families meals and making my life that bit easier :)
Don’t bother - can’t use any features unless you spend $100 on membership
This app makes you sign up straight after download but after that point you have to have a membership to use basically all of the features. What’s worse is that there isn’t even a free trial period. Sorry but I’m not going to fork out $99 for membership when I haven’t even had a chance to see if it’s any good. Deleting this app straight away. Misleading and a waste of time.
Must have
Brilliant. Easy. I particularly love the weekly additive free products on special at all major grocery stores!
Great idea - App very clunky
Love the concept, it’s just too clunky to use. Why is the logo and filter so big at the top? Only 1.7 lines of products show underneath. The keyboard gets stuck over the top and you need click around to get it to disappear. UX needs some serious attention to make shopping with this app more seamless. Wish I could get the one day use / subscription fee refunded!
