What people like
- Easy to load money on card
- Helps you know when bus arrives
- Cheaper than other transit options
What they complain about
- Trip planner freezes and crashes often
- Cannot remove old payment methods easily
- Scanner struggles to read barcodes correctly
- Hard to buy tickets for groups
Simple and easy
It’s a well designed and easy to use app and I the San Diego trolly system is useful for some destinations.
Confusing to use
If you want to buy 1 round trip ticket- it is difficult on the app.
What’s the name again?
It works great. But since it may be 1-6 months between each use, I have no idea what the name of the app is when I want to search for the app name every time I use it.
Scan issue
I needed to scan a variety of angles before it finally recognized the barcode.
Dysfunctional
I can’t remove payment methods from my account on the app. Therefore I can’t add new ones.
Pronto on Coaster
Convenient and easy to use
Horrible app
You would think an app like this would be simple and intuitive…it’s not
Nice try
Not very user friendly. I needed to add a payment method. I entered all my credit card information only to get a message that I have exceeded the number of payment methods. I don't see any way to delete any of the other cards.
Barely useable
Most people using the app on a regular basis have worked through the growing pains and figured it out. Most people trying to figure out how to ride public transit in San Diego face the additional hurdle of Pronto. Pros: can buy day and month passes, Cons: cannot buy and activate single tickets, does not provide instructions to accurate tickets, cannot use AmEx, can spend more using pay-as-you-go than with passes
Only 1 use
Attempted to use my pronto app to purchase MTS Trolley tickets for myself and my kids. You can only use the app for 1 person, so 1 tap at the station. That was frustrating. Ended up needing to use the kiosk machine to purchase for my kids.
Doesnt work
Says screen sharing not permitted. Wut??
Struggle bus
I literally have to delete and redownload this app AT LEAST once a month because the trip planner screen freezes and crashes the app
Some readers don’t work
Sometimes, the reader at a certain station doesn’t work so I end up paying the whole Oceanside-downtown fare
app freeze
app/ screen completely freezes when i open trip planner, fix it
Critical feature missing
This app would be perfect if it sent push notifications for bus delays and cancellations. Twice now I’ve had to call for car rides because the bus just never shows up and the app doesn’t say anything.
Great service to use
Transit service
why does the app kick me off every time?
within the past 5 months, the app has kicked me out my account 3 times now. Once, I had the app open and ready to scan, and as the bus pulled up, it logged me out. Most recently, the app kicked me off my account again, and I attempted to log in 4 times until log in was successful. it’s really annoying to deal with. once, okay whatever. but 3 times over the span of a a couple weeks is crazy. not to mention with the recent schedule changes, for the past week the app showed inaccurate schedules. there’s fixing that needs to be done and taken care of.
편리합니다
편리하기도 하지만 경제적입니다. 안심하고 사용할 수 있습니다
Lacks Apple Pay
Completely ridiculous that Apple Pay is not offered - signing up and adding payment method is very onerous
Update
Needs to be updated at the moment. Glitchy and laggy
Great app
Very easy to use. Helps me load money on card. And also with transit times
Garbage
Fire every boomer that approved this app. How difficult does it have to be? This is what happens when someone hires their grandson to create an app. It’s literally embarrassing.
Mala experiencia en primer día
Es muy difícil escanear el código en los lectores de los autobuses
App Freezes
In order to use the trip planner feature, i have to delete and redownload the app or else it completely freezes and I can’t use any of the features. Super inconvenient. I hope this gets fixed.
Carga difícil
Cuesta trabajo recuperar los saldos
Wow
Super help full to know when the bus will be here
Do better
I feel like a lot of these reviews must be fake. This app is horrible. Incredibly slow and there’s several things about the user experience that can be improved with regards to payment methods. Also the scanner at the trolley stations and buses are horrible. You have to scan at a certain angle under certain lighting conditions. I’d rather have a physical card
No trust
The only stop we have to tap in and out of is Snapdragon stadium. It slows everyone down causing a major bottleneck to those with season passes and a valid transfer showing. We’ve been told it was to plan trains, but the reality is from the MTS staff that’s it’s to make sure everyone paid. Our pad with a valid transfer had the data they need.
The besttttttt app
I love this app it helps me get to my bus!!
Cant sign in to app
But i can sign into the website…
Auto withdrawal from my credit card to top up but no returns
They said it’s take 5 to 8 weeks to return 15$, I think they need to add a ui to refund unused balance back to credit card. Soft stealing basically.. lame
Easy
Great system
Such a dumb way to do it, learning curve for experienced travelers
I had so many issues with this app. Not good for visitors or group groups like families traveling together. It’s only good if you’re a commuter who uses it regularly and never errs in the order on which you d do you wanna sit by the window? The planning feature in the app is good, but there’s no way to convert a trip into one way round-trip ticket. Only all day tickets are available. You can’t buy multiple tickets because everyone needs their own digital “card”. It doesn’t tell you have to tap in to activate your ticket *before* getting on the train. You can’t activate your ticket from the train (even though the app knows where you are when you’re using it). First trip on the Coaster in decades was soured by the frustrating app.
5 STAR
The Bus drivers are kind respectful when I was new on the bus I have been with MTS For over a month now
The app sucks. The service is worse.
I would suggest that no one should ever download this app and use it. It is unclear that every person must have their own app downloaded when you purchase tickets. When you do contact NCTD they point you to Pronto and then Pronto points you back to them. The customer experience team at NCTD is a complete joke and should probably get rid of their job titles since they don’t care about customers or the experience.
Fantastic service
It is a blessing to travel within San Diego with the Pronto tram n bus services . As UCSD parents we found it so easy to manoeuvre n go around the Campus .
…
This app is horrible
