Selling your information
I haven’t gotten a scam call in months. After the plethora of allowing access to gallery, calls, mic I got three scam calls from 3 different locations.
Cool app but 1 bug worth fixing
Only issue I have on iPhone is the app constantly stops me from recording indicating my memory is full. I have removed several gigs of data and still I get the error after only recording a few minutes of video. My other video apps are able to record even when this one says I can’t. Why would that be?
Recently purchased.
Can we fix the playback when playing music in the background while trying to record during gym sea with clients. It’s an inconvenience when the music shuts off as soon as you open the app to record.
Bluetooth issues
I have the Hohem mobile plus and it won’t connect to this app at all. When I try to use the Hohem gimbal app it crashes every time when I go to view my picture gallery. So between the two apps, neither are working properly for me. Puts me off investing in their newer products.

Worst equipment ever used
I have used various gimbals, and this is by far the worst. It’s not easily set up. It doesn’t help guide you through. What potential issues are it just shuts off. This is a complete waste of money and I would never recommend this. In fact I would only use this as a form of torture for someone.

Alright but doesn’t support all 16 pro functionalities
The app is generally ok and relatively easy to use. For me it gets a low score as it doesn’t allow you to use the 16pro capabilities like multiple microphones recordings on video. Additionally when recording video, it only gives 3 zoom settings. That’s a major weakness.
Works fine, but
The app works fine plenty of cool features, But When Im creating videos with sound on I can’t use any microphones that connect to my phone and I can’t change the sound input and the app uses the default phone mic, should be a simple fix to add into the app but its a huge let down since I wanna be able to walk around with the ai tracking whilst speaking into a mic

This is the biggest waste of money. It will not calibrate. With or without a phone. No matter how many times I have checked if it is unlocked in the places. Or balanced correctly or updated. It will not work. I 100 percent do not recommend. Not worth the money. Even technical support sucks. They do not help.
Everything was great, until…..
I totally love this thing, almost gave it 5 stars… but! There’s always but somewhere. Sure, it took some time to learn it, get used to it. Filmed a lot of great stuff for my son’s soccer games. Just used it last week for some promo videos. Turned it off, put it away, saw that there was an HOHEM JOY app update, updated the app, and now this thing is going absolutely bananas. The gimbal starts spinning around so violently like it’s trying to throw my phone out of the gimbal clip. Clearly they broke something in this last app update. Tried everything from factory resets, deleting the app and re-installing, reset the Bluetooth connection, etc…. Not good HOHEM! I’m not getting any Joy out of this experience. UPDATE: I was able to contact HOHEM support and they were super helpful on getting me a replacement since my return window through Amazon just closed two days prior to the issues. As of 9/21/25 everything has been working great. Bumped up to 4 stars.

Can’t get past the tutorial
I do the tutorial, and then it tells me that I can swipe through the different camera modes, and then I hit the screen, and it tells me to make a square of what I wanna try and I do that and then it doesn’t work and I’ve deleted the app like three times
Amazing App for Creative Videos
I really enjoy using Hohem Joy! I especially love the Inception mode and the tracking feature. They help me shoot cool and creative videos easily, and also allow me to record my daily life in a more fun and beautiful way. This app makes filming much more enjoyable. I really like it and look forward to more exciting and fun features in the future!
Livestream broken
Trying to go live with app have tried going live to 3 different platforms using rtmp and rtmps have also tried using two different phones one using old iOS other using new iOS but still nothing. Both apps are up to date have tried with gimbal and without it acts like it starts the livestream then after about 15 seconds it tells me the livestream has ended with 0.0mb of data uploaded. I have reached out to support they tell me it’s probably an app issue but as of this writing it is still not working.

固件无法升级
每次使用都会提示固件升级，点升级之后，苹果系统永远卡在50%，安卓系统直接app自动闪退。。。。。。不能升级就先别推出固件提示啊，每次打开就跳出提示，太烦了，建议开发个忽略固件检测的选项
Getting better needs work
Honestly, this app has gotten a lot better That said it definitely needs help with camera focus. It is not as reliable as it needs to be I really like the AI tracking where you can draw on any object, but that needs a little bit of tweaking as well because it does lose track of that item quite easily and doesn’t always work I also experienced issues With the gesture, not working sometimes Other than that, it has better white balance than iPhone camera app Also, I noticed a downgrade in quality via the iPhone camera app Definitely not that far from being one of the best camera apps I’ve used to date Also I would really love to see the ability to pair two different devices at the same time so I can use the camera from the phone mounted to the gimbal and my other phone for the joystick remote That would be an awesome addition Thanks Hohem for continuing to make your products better

X3 App update….
I am new to the Hohem products and recently bought the x3. Everything was going well until I updated the app this morning. Now I’m not getting a picture, just a black or gray screen. Landscape mode is also turning the phone the wrong direction resulting in having the arm of the gimbal showing if I can a view of the lens perspective to show. That being said. I’m not sure if the app update caused these issues or am I, a newer user doing something wrong? Things seemed fine prior to the app update.
Please Fix “Motion Control”
When I saw YouTube videos on how you could control the Hohem gimbals by physically moving a Bluetooth connected iOS device with this Hohem Joy app I was sold. Unfortunately when using this “motion control“ feature the gimbal drifts in one direction or another slowly but steadily, rendering the feature practically useless. For a year and a half had doubts as to whether it was the app or a problem with my Apple devices. Well… I got another brand of gimbal with a similar feature and it does not drift, so now I know that it’s something to do with Hohem’s implementation of “motion control”. If they can fix this, I will change this review to five stars because I like the gimbal otherwise.
This is a bug report
The app has a serious issue with external usb mic. Videos recorded with an external usb mic are encoded with realtime audio and 2x speed video.
Not perfect but so far it’s good
Their tech support said it’s not required to download their app if I just need the gimbal to work with my phone, but I found many wonderful features in their app and they are free so why not

Flakey
There are three main issues with this app. 1. Stops recording/hangs 2. Gimbal goes off doing its own thing 3. It’s a massive battery eater. Recorded 2 5 min videos and took 53% of my battery. I assume it stays open even when not being used.
Zoom
When i zoom using the m6, it glitches or chops between image when it shifts from 1x to 2x to 3x. Making it really bad for creating zoom shots or dolly zoom manually
great app and gimbal! (isteady v3)
i have the isteady v3 and i dont understand how the rating for this app is so bad, i have had all perfect experience with this app and my isteady v3. next step is to convince my parents to let me have a youtube channel because they wont let me because im not over 18🤦♂️
Trash
The Hohem app is ok nothing really good but the gimbal itself is trash. For some reason the camera just stopped working and now I can’t track anything with the AI tracker definitely tossing this peace of shi in the trash and going to dji instead. Waste of money
Room for improvement
Gimbal wheel needs to support zooming. AI tracking needs to be able to track a whole subject (person or object) without losing track. I feel like the hardware is all perfect… now it’s just the software that needs some TLC (Tender Loving Care). I’ll update my score once that’s all taken care of.
Worst product ever
Super hard to set up it twitches to much it doesn’t work properly the place you put your phone wiggles around too much so just don’t waste your money on it
Time lapse / slow motion nuisance app issue
I had an opportunity to do an incredible time lapse with the orange Sunset and the time left. Every time I press start did not work, and I finally lost the sunset. I was so mad. And for some odd reason it loves to do slow motion when I don’t want some motion on some shots if there’s no movement, and there’s sudden motion it’ll turn into slow motion and it’s really a nuisance when I have to go and edit it to fix it.

Application’s AI tracking shutter control gestures is wrong
The application shows V sign to start and stop shooting but doesn’t show the actual gesture control of the shutter.
Recently tested, needs improvement!
Ok the app needs to support autofocus and the gimbal wheel needs to support zooming. Updates needed: 1. -wheel in zoom or any other mode = Autofocus on. 2. -wheel in focus mode needs to allow autofocus then provide manual override once the wheel is turned. 2.1. -Autofocus while wheel mode should be a selectable on-off option under config settings. 3. -active wheel functions (focus, zoom, light control, spin, & tilt) should be selectable under config settings so user can configure to their own use. Most importantly make saving long videos mission critical. Do this by writing to App storage first, then transferring to Photo storage then if there is a problem, saving two photos storage, you have the option to go back and re-export without losing the video. If you want a QA reviewer, I would be happy to do it for name credit only. out of all the gimbal, I’ve tested I like the Hoheim hardware, the best, and the software needs to be severely upgraded to reflect the quality of the hardware. I would like to see that happen and contribute to making that happen.

Video jitter and lots of ads
I wanted to give the V3 Ultra a chance, but cannot go over the hideous app. I like to record in 4k 60fps to reduce motion blur. The Hohem Joy app always causes a jitter in the footage. When I reduce to 30fps it works fine. In the native iPhone camera app it works fine, but I do not have all the options. Tracking honestly seems to be hit and miss and when doing low angle shots near the ground it is almost impossible to lock the subject. App is simply not good. Does not feel polished, instead it spams you with lots of ads and upsell options. Unfortunately, doesn’t work for me.
Could be better
Changing between the 3 cameras on the iPhone pro camera is way too hard compared to the native app. Please add an option to hide the facing tracking markers and UI so we can screen capture to OBS
Missing features
The only reason I downloaded the app was for seamless zoom and it is not available on iPhone 15 pro max

Finally got some of the features to work, I’ll just have to watch more videos and take it one baby step at a time. It the app doesn’t work, try deleting it and redownload it and try again 👍

Completely Broken App
This app is a steaming pile of hot garbage. It asked for every permission under the sun which immediately sketched me out. I have to launch the app at least 3 times for it to even get to the Home Screen. When I connect my gimbal the app will do one of three things. It’ll either freeze right away, connect and just sit there, or connect, launch into the camera and immediately start recording a video. I could put up with this but every single time I use the app it becomes completely unresponsive within the first couple minutes, sometimes even right away. It’s also extremely annoying that the app is required to get the full functionality of the gimbal. This app isn’t even worth the storage it takes up on my phone. Just extremely disappointing after spending money on this gimbal.
