Love it!!!
I played MTG and this gives me a similar play game play without having to constantly sink more money into it and offers a wide variety of strategies and loads of fun for way cheaper.
Constantly freezing during Sunforge
I don’t want to have to join Discord to submit a bug. The game is freezing during Sunforge runs after new update/ content.
Keyword descriptions
Great game, but only 4 stars for the lack of descriptions on keywords. While most of them have them, some do not. This means you have to back out the match to look it up. Other than that, well worth the money.
Boring
Boring and repetitive. I looked at ratings and thought it would be fun. I played 10 min before I couldn’t bare it anymore. I regret spending money on this game. Extra note: additional content is behind a massive paywall. So pay for the base game AND pay for additional content.
Not like slay
Anyone who says it’s similar to slay does not know what they are talking about. It’s a fun game but not having any variety or choice into what you fight for each zone ruins the risk/reward which is half the fun of slay. Just eventually killing each monster and being stuck with three bonfires after an act finished is not satisfying .
Needs a LOT of work
Seemed fun at first, then you see ceetain mechanics are just poorly thought out and make the game take too damn long. Both thumbs way way down, amateur.
Too expensive
If you dont buy dlc the Game gets boring After few Runs. If you want full content its 30 Euro + which is way to expensive for a mobile Game.
Limited and expensive
A lot of character choices and build options, but only one campaign path comes with your purchase- there are 14 packages for sale at an average of $4.99.
Awesome game with lack of some minor adjustments
This game is truly amazing, and it has kept me entertained for hours. The variety of cards and the way RPG elements are combined with the roguelike genre is a fantastic idea. I’m genuinely looking forward to more content. It would also be great if you could add more free content in the future. However, I feel that a few elements are still missing. In my opinion, the biggest one is a minimap or some kind of map. Without one, it can be quite confusing, and it’s difficult to get a sense of which part of each region you’re currently in. Maybe other players feel the same way. I would really appreciate it if the development team could consider addressing this issue. Thank you!
DLC expensive
The game itself cost and then you have to buy all the extra dlc which is more than $40 in my area which they don’t release free content
Excellent mechanics, but needs fix
Thanks for continually working on this game. The only thing that I’d like to see fixed are the icon placements in the UI. I’d love to see some mindfulness of their placement. Currently, icons are hidden by the Dynamic Island, and the rounded corners of the iPhone screen cut off some elements too. Please fix.
Too repetitive.
You see several times through the reviews about same enemies and this and that, but this games repetition is seriously underplayed. It’s a long, shallow story that sees you in the same areas on every play through, with the same enemies on every play through ( not to mention it’s the same 3 or 4 enemies per area every time). The setting from beginning to end is dark. Dark colors, poisons, burning, bleeding. Your typical dark rpg stuff. Not a bad thing, but when it’s all it offers, over and over again, it gets old fast. I’ve made 3 or 4 decent runs that failed towards the end, and 3 full runs, and I’m already so bored. Your skills get old after a few runs, the enemies get old, all the events become quickly predictable, idk, I just feel like they put a lot of work into a few dialogues, some of the art work, and then just copied and pasted everything else. Worth playing if you come across it for free anytime, but the fact it’s a paid game and then sells add-ons to even make it replayable more than a few times, isn’t really something I have an interest in supporting and hopefully you wouldn’t either! Also, the pictures they show on the App Store, the naked mole rat warrior and the snow level, those aren’t in the free version. I’d have been happy to see that much color and level variety in the base game, but the art choice did not impact my review, that’s just personal opinion.

Top 5 mobile game
I used to play Hearthstone and MTG, but got tired of throwing money at it, having to mostly play online, etc. I wanted a solid deck builder and stumbled on Dawncaster a few months ago. I probably have sunk 200 hours in by this point while waiting here and there. No need for connectivity. The gameplay loop itself is pretty good and you can have a lot of fun figuring out which classes work best for what, and subtypes of those classes. Crazy card combinations about. All in all, one of my top 5 mobile games of all time!
Nah…
This game is terrible. Work on balance before asking me to buy more content. Hoping for a refund…
Lots of fun
Love the game. It’s very deep and has a lot of content. I use it to kill time when traveling and the such. My only reason for taking off a star is how grindy it can be to unlock stuff. Sometimes, I wish it was a bit faster to reward when grinding away at new deck runs. Either way fantastic fun.
I hope the Chinese translation can be improved as soon as possible.
The biggest problem of Chinese translation now is the confusion of translation, especially keywords. There will be multiple translations for the same keywords. Secondly, the translation is not accurate. Finally, the translation is missing. I hope it can be improved.
Add Russian language
Good day! Game very very interesting, please add Russian language!)
Unable to playcard set bug
I purchased the app and haven't been able to finish making my first character. The card set alert won't go away when activating the okay button. Tried the fixes. Nothing worked. I'm a busy person and I've already spent too much time trying to fix it. This has been a big waste of my valuable time.
Can't understand the craze
It's good but come on, it’s not brilliant. If you make one mistake, you lose everything. I know that's what rogalikes are like so maybe this isn't my kind of game. Still, thank you for making it accessible for the blind. Too few developers bother trying.
This game needs a lot of work
It looks good and plays well, but has a lot of balancing issues. There is A LOT of grinding, which for a pay game is odd. Because it is true that there are no microtransactions per se, you can buy packs with new zones and new adventures. But you can’t buy fateshards (for upgrades). The game is 7$ no ads and no need to bu6 anything. Indeed, that is what’s odd, devs, why are you so stimgy on the fateshards? It takes HOURS of grinding (the same quests, the same enemies, the same battles) in order to get just a few fateshards. It would take thousands of hours of play to have access to everything. Which again, is really weird, why would the devs do this? They aren’t making money of it so why make us grind for hours? The comparaison to slay the spire(sts) is apt, but sts is balanced and the progression is mapped and logical. Here, there is no map, and it seems that campfires are only present at the begining of each quests. And so there are no campfires before bosses or mini-bosses fights. This makes the game unnecessarilly hard. The enemies show you what their next attack will be like in sts, ut it only shows two of their attacks and often enemies do 4 attacks or more (for bosses). For your own cards, sometimes they light up in yellow, sometimes in green and it is never explained what those colours mean. There are colours to the mana, but it is random, sometimes cards become free, always at the end of your turn, so it breaks the synergy. Indeed, the different classes and combos are not as interesting as in sts. There are too many classes and the attacks and special abilities are very often vague and poorly explained and often the combos just don’t work (either they were supposed to work but don’t, or the combos are just poorly thought out and they cancel each other put or do nothing useful) Devs: you need to play your own game more and make it much less grindy and much more fun. This is not at all at the level of slay the spire. It still needs A LOT of work.
peterge's Review
The best about this game is the option to play this without turning the iPhone to landscape mode. But imho the enemy's are all the same without fight tactics compared to Slay the Spire or Monster Train. I personally don't like the RPG elements. Oh and I like the complex settings menu, it feels like a real PC game :)
Just amazing
I have probably 300 hours in this game. It’s absolutely amazing. It gives way more variety of play and experimentation than other similar games. And I personally feel that the art on this game is the best out there. Developers are active and listen to feedback. I can’t wait to see what else they do. Either way, I love Dawncaster!

🇨🇳the chinese font not working! i love this game,it used to work now the font doesn't
Gutes Game…ABER!
Unrewarding and slow
There is no real sense of progression during the game. New cards are completely random and more often than not don’t fit your playstyle. Gold is a major issue since you just don’t get enough from kills. Several run ending enemies don’t make for an engaging game either. Looking at you Daisy. Killing enemies and levelling up feels unrewarding since your enemies suddenly become allot harder but depending on your luck you are stuck with a crappy deck and can’t do much about it.
Lackluster Deckbuilder
While there are quite a few mechanics, so it’s possible to like, it’s just … well it feels like slop. Even if you ignore the tedious writing and backstory that you click through (you can click pretty quick, but no idea why it’s even there) — the actual game is just … it’s a bit mindless. e.g. you’ll have “chain” which just means have a bunch of cards that say chain and cast then all together. It’s like 1/2 thought out card mechanics. Might be good for a young kid. But there are so many deckbuilders out there I just can’t see what would recommend this one. [note, I just played the arcanist a few times]
A fantastic and refreshing take on the roguelite genre
After months of playing this game I keep coming back to it. It offers a huge variety of play styles, tons of unique hidden interactions within the dialogue, and a wonderful community that helps even the most novice of players. On the financial side I also think the developers are truly looking out for the common man as they give access to every card expansion with the base game. That means the only reason you would buy the DLC is because, like me, you adore this game and want even more enemies and stories. I can’t recommend this game enough. Very well made and very well maintained with a live bug chat in the discord.
Two days and bugs prevent any play
I cannot take any actions. I’ve tried to restart the app and in every battle the cards don’t play and/or I can’t end my turn. Stay away from this useless app.
Very good deck builder
I have played Slay the Spire to death (over a hundred hours for sure), same thing with Pirates Outlaws and a bunch of other rogue deck builders. This game completely scratches that itch and then some. I love how the developers incorporated rpg elements in the three potential starting basic “mana” types along with a possible the fourth one that takes a bit more to earn. I am only rating it 4 stars for now as I have maybe spent about fifteen to twenty hours in game so far. If my engagement keeps up, this is definitely a five star game.
Good game but you need internet to play it
This is a very good game but it crashes instantly when there is no internetconnection available. The flight was very boring….
Chinese Language option doesn’t work
When I choose the Simplified Chinese option the system is still English, please fix

Hello, developer. How is the progress of Chinese localization development? There are still some parts that have not been translated during the game.
Doesn’t Save Progress By Default
What kind of modern mobile game doesn’t save progress to cloud by default? I lost a month of progress after reinstalling the app. Cloud saves have to be manually enabled in some hidden menu. Awful decision.
German Localization 🙏
My biggest wish is a german localization and the game is not really supporting the new screens with the dynamic island. Everything else is great 👍
Medicore
Boring early game, because of slow progression and small choises. The Last half is more fun, because of unlocked talents and imbued enchantments. Some game mechanisms (afflictions) are frustating, like when you cannot play cards how you want. That is Not a challenge, it is frustrating and dull. Blessings and afflictions are hard to stack but can easy disspelled. Simply go only pure damage and defence, no variation at all. Game progression is slow, unlocking new weapons is not exciting, because it takes to long. The final encounter is a frustrating joke. You need lots of defence or avoid cards, conditions are useless, so again, less variation in your build. At the end you still gain XP and can level up, but the game is over… no type of endless exploration, to get an „OP“ build over time. At the first few hours it is a great game, but when you realize the slow progression and sometimes boring game decissions, i am spending less and less time in this game. I have both DLC. My longest run was 8 hours. The different characters are interesting, but again, the progression is slow and the early game boring, so i dont know, if i really want to unlock all. Performance and art are really good. Sound can be better, but it is ok.
Too much grinding
I like the game, even considering the expensive DLCs, but the reward system is terrible. You are barely getting any points for unlocking new skills and weapons. I played a few hours and barely unlocked anything. I will more likely give up playing than be able to test all weapons and builds, which is a misunderstanding for a game you pay for. It should be balanced much better, rather than forcing players to dedicate hundreds of hours of play time.
Absolutely loved this game
I don’t often write reviews, but I figured I needed to do one for this game because I thought it was awesome. Very much. Reminds me of like slay the spire or you know like a single player Hearthstone type of thing I did get a little boring after a while if you’ve gone through and beaten, a lot of things of different builds, but all in all pretty amazing game.
Limiting
This game is fun for a few rounds. Once you figure out how to win, you can win every time. This deck builder is more limiting than any other I have played. Some enemy/boss types completely counter and shut down builds to be completely un-winnable. I would love to see some adjustments to make more build options viable.
Passt👌🏼
Nett.
Love it but it’s a major grindfest
The game is fun and plays well but it takes WAY too long to earn the darn shards, major MAJOR LETDOWN ON THAT PART other than that the game is fine
One of the best
Great gameplay with a lot of variety and replayability. Previously I felt the game had some balance issues but over time that has smoothed out. And I would only notice those issues because I actually enjoy playing the game. Highly recommended
Too Grindy
Becomes repetitive way to soon. play this if you don’t value your time and want to repeat the same boring crap over and over again, wayyyy to grindy - also a rip off since the base game’s content is way too little and you’re gonna have to buy the additional content to get a game that doesn’t get boring after 1 day of playing it.
Diamond in the Rough
This has great potential. Meaningful character differences. Love the aesthetic—too many cartoon “rpgs” out there! Similar play to “Night of the Full Moon,” which is a good thing. Very difficult though; could use some rebalancing and/or more healing potential. Also, my biggest complaint: Rogue-likes without some mechanic for growth (even from a failed run)... aren’t fun for long. With some updates, could be my favourite game!
Took a g thing, made it boring
When I approached this game I thought it overly complex for a starting player, but the best games are. I learnt a lot of base rules mixed with RNG, mixed with level building that required player thought, that also mixed in respect to the player building their own deck that they enjoyed playing. Synchronised perfectly. I lost because I didn’t play right for the stage and my character of choice was not built right. I’m leaving because homogenising the new leveling system degrades the game for me, there are redeeming factors to a ‘mobile game’ done properly. I do understand I’m probably in the minority but I will miss my daily challenge of using a character type I wouldn’t normally and learning their mechanics, it’s the show of a good dev when players do that and don’t bale out immediately. So good work!!!, waiting for the sequel without similar end game currency ideals. Fear of appealing to all is where we all fall on our face. Good game til now
