What people like
- Navigation works without mounting phone to handlebars
- Useful feature if it actually connects properly
- Great idea for built-in bike navigation
What they complain about
- Connection fails often or not at all
- Phone screen must stay on the whole time
- Location service drains battery even when not riding
- You cannot save your favorite routes
Does not work
I’ve been trying to get this app going, but I can’t get past the initial launch page because they do not send me the 6 digit code needed to continue. It appears this app is no longer supported, which makes on gauge on my Meteor worthless. I can’t even set the time of day.
Working pretty good but a few niggles
1) How can I tell what version I’m on? 2) Please allow saving routes, it’s a pain to have to re-enter routes every time I want to go to a different one of my favorite locations, it would be a much better application that way. I sincerely hope that you aren’t waiting to put that behind a pay wall as that would be massively bad advertising for your motorcycle line, probably enough for me to just remove the tripper and put something else in that spot and just get a gps device. And badmouth you harshly where now I have been singing the Himalayan’s praise to every motorcycle rider that I encounter. Don’t do that. Update 1 year later You still can’t save routes, I have worked with Indian programmers in Pune and other places multiple times and you/they are good enough to have done this easily. WHY AREN’T YOU DOING THIS??? It doesn’t require any more hardware than you already on the smartphone. For any significant trips I now have to mount a gps which uses up handlebar space I could really use for other things. If I continually have to use an external gps then your device is just a useless irritating ornament. WHY DON’t YOU JUST DO IT???
Needs a big update
This app needs to keep the location on even when not riding. Unless you want to keep clicking "connect " every time you want it to connect to your phone. Also there is no reason why the screen needs to be on to do navigation on the tripper TFT. Please spend money / time on this app. I love my new Himalayan 450 but wish this app was way better.
Needs improvement
It could be a great app if it could run in the background without the need to keep your screen on, wasting battery
Would be nice if it worked…
The app shuts down randomly and needs to be synced several times during a trip, which is frustrating. It requires that location services to “always be on” for the app to work, so it’s constantly collecting data This app also requires your phone to be unlocked while using it, which drains your phone battery very quickly, which means you have to keep your phone plugged into the USB-C port. To do that, you probably need to mount your phone to the handle bars, which means you can just use your phone for navigation. It works significantly better than the RE App.
Needs location set to ALWAYS
App wont work unless location settings are set to ALWAYS it wont work with the setting “location on while using app” Why does RE need to know my location via the app when I am not using it? App says it needs Btooth to connect to the bike, but then wont work unless it can also scan my entire wifi network. You see the narrative here…
Updates
Please update the app so that location services doesn’t require always on. Only while using is the most efficient option. Other than that, great feature on the bike that is truly useful and appreciated.
Worst support
Wrote multiple times, only record acknowledging that they received the issue never herd back at all!
Can’t connect to it!
I have an iPhone and cannot connect to my tripper pod, a message pops up saying device not saved. I’ve tried everything, but no luck. Help!
Tripper non-functional on my new Shotgun
After installing the App I can connect via Bluetooth to the tripper pod, but the tripper device is never saved to my phone, so it never succeeds to fully connect and provide any navigation functionality. The tripper pod is on a new Shotgun purchased in November 2024.
Nav works but…
App won’t allow me to access the pod’s settings (Meteor 350), and I can’t change the display settings to night mode. Meaning riding at night, I’m getting absolutely blinded by the pod’s display. App in general just seems to be a rush job - very bare bones, not a lot of features, and just seems kind of cheaply made.
Decent UI, but never routes anything so I can’t use it unfortunately
It connects with my phone, but never creates a navigation route…useless.
Needs a lot of work
Was really excited to have built-in maps on my new Himalayan 450 and it’s better than nothing I guess but it’s not great. - Biggest detraction is that your phone screen has to stay on the whole time you’re using maps. This greatly defeats the purpose of a nav unit as it kills your battery and makes interrupting the trip more likely - Second biggest gripe is that you have to re-pair the device every single time the bike gets turned off and on. Just seems super unnecessary in this day and age. - A feature I’d love is if you could automatically set what dash layout you want in the app when using maps. I really like the “analog” mode layout but need the digital layout for maps as it’s way more usable with the actual map displayed. If I could choose to have that layout when I begin a trip it would be so much easier than fiddling with the settings to switch displays every time. At this rate I’ll probably give up on using analog layout even though I prefer it for most of the time. Would also love to be able to open or paste pins from google maps in the app, or even coordinates. If a friend sends a pin, I have to open it in google maps, find the nearest landmark, switch to RE map, search and navigate to the landmark, and then try to figure out where to go from there. God help you if you don’t have a search-friendly address, which is most addresses in India. Overall pretty disappointing experience. I want to ride, not sit and fiddle with my dash settings and phone for 20mins every time I go somewhere new. I guess it’s probably too late to just make these units CarPlay compatible, but why do you have to re-invent the wheel? I know it’s early so I really am looking forward to some good updates and fixes.
Glitchy
What can I say other than I don’t use it. I’ve seen lots of complaints about how glitchy this app is and it shouldn’t be that way. Royal Enfield should update it and fix the problems so that we can use it seamlessly from our smart phones to the motorcycle Dashboard interface.
Needs work
I have the app, and logged I. When I first got my bike. But since I am unable to log in. The initial screen asks for my email, then it asks for details, then it tells me to log in because I already have an account. But there is no option to just log in
Unbelievably Low quality
I spent an hour trying to connect my phone with my new RE Himalayan. It won’t connect. The instructions referred me to a YouTube video, and a low quality one at that. My grill/smoker has a better app/software than my new motorcycle. Had I known it was this bad I would’ve bought a KTM. Immediate buyers remorse. Shame on RE for having such a poor system.
I like it - when it works
I like being able to use navigation with Tripper without having my phone mounted on the bike. However, more often than not, the app will not calculate the route. I often get the error message “RE Prime The route to the destination could not be calculated.”
Needs SERIOUS REWORK
Bought a super meteor about a month ago, and I really was excited about the onboard navigation, only to find the app doesn’t connect to the tripper pod whatsoever. Very disappointing. Now I have to spend money on aftermarket one instead of using the factory one like I wanted to. The app needs serious work
Not working in Puerto Rico were Google maps works without issues.
I just bought a Super Meteor 650 wich is an excellent bike but the map app shows that the location is Puerto Rico, but when using search only shows locations in the continental USA. but desconecte the app and reconnect and now it is working!
Do better
Be better. Learn. Innovate. The app, the software, the bike.
Works but is buggy
The app generally works but is not nearly as snappy as most other mapping apps. This is so disappointing as it has so much potential. I’ve had some issues with linking to my bike but I get it to with most of the time. My biggest gripe is that location has to be set to “always”. This is so unnecessary and drains phone battery when not using the app unless you remember to turn it off, only to be reminded next time you open the app that it must be switched on again. Route saving and editing would be a plus. Hopefully RE can invest some time into creating something great. It really has a lot of potential to be something special.
Couldn't save the device. Please try again
You are selling bike officially but didn’t add app support in our country, how funny is that 😡
