Anthony is Awesome!
I’ve been learning to tune pianos and the Piano Meter app has been a fundamental tool. The biggest plus to this app is Anthony’s desire to continue to polishing it. I used the pitch raise feature on a Kenabe pro upright, it was within 3 cents afterwards! The custom inharmonicity curves help the piano really sing. The app has made learning to tune fun and educational!

Update to previous review
This app now has a “Peak View” which makes it much easier to visualize false beats and duplex/plate resonances in the high treble, like TuneLab. Seems like it used to be a feature only Pro users get but now it’s included for Plus. Definitely a step in the right direction and shows the developers are listening which is great. I find myself using this app more now. If they add the ability to zoom inside peak view, such that more resolution is visible in the range of +-10c like TuneLab, I will be using this app exclusively and be happy to spend the extra money on the Pro version. Keep up the good work!
Not accurate on lower octaves
Just isn’t accurate. Sadly the best tuners cost a lot more. This is okay if you are okay with not tuning your piano.
Worked then didn’t
Works great until I updated to IOS 15.1.1. Now it flickers and can’t use it without getting dizzy. Please fix.
Great app
Original post: I've been turning my own Baldwin 5 foot 8 inch grand since the early 1970s. Using just a tuning fork. Neither the bass stretch of piano meter or piano scope is pleasing to me. I'm experimenting with tune lab trial version which gives much less stretch. But tune lab has other flaws which I'm trying to correct for. Using the pianometer app as reference– Full version. Update: at this point I'd say I prefer the stretch of pianometer, plus I don't have the patience to keep retuning the bass. I think my initial dissatisfaction was because the 1974 book I learned to tune by did not incorporate any stretch in its method, plus I was mostly playing Bach then which is confined to the middle 4 octaves . at the moment I'm only playing my own composition which uses octaves in the deepest bass. Now that I've gotten used to it it seems fine. So I've changed my rating to five stars. Makes the tuning process much simpler.

It’s very good to tune your piano when your beginning. Unfortunately I don’t like how you need to pay money to tune the full piano maybe make it free?
$30 upgrade won’t let you save tuning files!
I find it insane that even after paying $30 for this app, one cannot switch between tuning profiles. My 1842 Bosendorfer is currently at A/405, and my 1872 Souczek is 4 semi-tones low. I’d like to take turns working on them, but there’s no possible way I’m going to spend $300 just so I can open two profiles. I could buy a new iPhone for cheaper and buy the $30 app twice. Very disappointing. Otherwise I’d enjoyed the app.
My “go to” app!
I’ve been using PM for many years now and it’s always my “go to” app. It just gets the job done and makes pianos sound great!
Almost perfect
Tbh, I don’t tune the basses with any electronic tuner (including the big expensive one that I had at some point): use your ears, they can be really much better, especially on old bass strings, lots of inharmonicity. That being said, the tunings in the mid and treble are fantastic and this is a time saver. Much faster response than say… TuneLab. And I like the tuning curve, seems to listen/adjust musically to the piano. I don’t know the wizardry. Small bug on iOS: when you switch between apps, when coming back to PianoMetre, the “tuning Arrow” will be gone. Just reload the app, get back to the tuning and it’s good to go. Small annoyance really, but hopefully fixed in future updates.
Inharmonicity is way off
I tried using PianoMeter as a beginner tuner, only to find that its inharmonicity calculations are not correct in the least bit. The bass especially is not even close to being in tune. I’ve had to tune aurally rather than use this app. I tested this by comparing the app to my Yamaha digital piano on the “grand” setting, and the app said C1 was 30 cents sharp, despite Yamaha’s expertise in making a tuned digital grand piano. I’ll be abandoning this app in favor of something that actually sounds good.
Outstanding diagnostic tool!
I am a Piano tech for more than 30 years. I’ve replaced tune lab pro with Piano Meter Pro as my main diagnostic app. There are a few problems with an occasional partial slip but no more than any of the other apps you can get here. NOW the big thing on this app is the graphic depiction of every note on the piano lined up with a keyboard. This gives me a visual representation that I can show to a non musician client. I sample each note into the Piano Meter App, then I take a screen shot, at the end of the tuning I repeat the process. Now I have a before and after picture for the client. Of course, the picture is a gimmick if the tuning’s not good. But this app gives me constant feedback about what the piano is doing during the tuning. Great for pitch correction! Curves are consistent to curves calculated with other diagnostic tools. Oh yeah, you do have to upgrade to professional to get those features that makes it great for the professional piano tuner. Wholeheartedly recommend!
Decent but need more
Best tuning app for pianos that I’ve found. I purchased the plus version for $25. But the $300 price for the Pro version is a bit ridiculous. I wish the Plus version had the tuning styles and pitch raise features. Those features are still useful to non-pros and disappointing it’s excluded.

a49のピッチを測定してチューナーにセットする機能が無いので、所詮はおもちゃ、実用性はありません。 サポートに問い合わせたところ、a=440Hzでピッチを測定してセント値の目盛りから換算しろとのこと。 目測でセント値を読んで換算するレベルなら 安いアナログチューナーで十分。

Tried several piano apps that are either outrageously priced, novelty stuff that’s inaccurate or just esoterically incomprehensible user interfaces. This interface is clean and fast and gives you the visual and precise feedback you need while tuning. Lots of good options as well in the settings if you need to adjust

installed this app on my computer worked the first day then it stopped working after i did the updates to my computer i have this app on another device and it works flawlessly just wanted to have it on a larger device when it says it will work for my laptop
Great tuning app (If used properly)
Once you understand how to use the app (follow the tutorial) you can achieve a very good tuning! Advice: Lock the curve before starting a tuning over a new file, make the circles stop spinning (as close as possible to “cero” on the pitch) and move on. (Do one string at a time)
Hidden Masterpiece for Beginners
This app is a hidden masterpiece because when used in a simple and particular manner, it can easily assist a novice tone deaf piano tuner to produce clean unisons and an excellently stretched and equally-tempered tuning. I discovered that after performing a single-strings inharmonicity mapping of the entire piano, and locking it in place. Average Immediate tuning ranges and average tuning ranges centered on 0.0 cents for every single string return clean unisons with excellent stretch and equal temperament 99% of the time. I hope to create a video showcasing this new tuning method soon! Excellent work Developer! Also, would you consider either enlarging the font size of the Average Tuning Differential on the plotting chart or granting the option for the user to manually set the font size? Great app
The developer has worked very hard on this app and it shows. I have a few piano tuning apps and this is probably the most simple to use and most streamlined app of all of them. There is another review here complaining about the stretch compared to Yamaha keyboard. This isn’t fair because most Yamaha keyboards use concert grand pianos as their samples and this will be very different for what a smaller piano needs to be tuned to. Every piano is tuned differently. This program gives excellent tunings in the bass section based on the particular inharmonicity of the piano. Some short pianos just sound bad no matter what you do or what app you use because of the poor scaling or other factors. I tell my clients who have picky ears to download this app to help them touch up tunings on their own because of the price. The plus version is a no brainer for the picky piano owner who can’t wait for their tuner to come by.

This app is exactly what I needed. The first time I used the app I was a little confused by the interface to begin using the tuner but it wasn’t so hard to figure out. Once I made a new project, the visuals were stunning and it did exactly what I needed it to! 5/5 stars
First Time Tuning
I've been interested in tuning my piano for some time. I had been doing a lot of reading and YouTube videos and came across this app. I downloaded it to my iPhone and updated it to the paid version. I ordered a tuning hammer and mutes. The day they arrived in the mail I told my wife, "Well, here goes!" I couldn't be happier with the results! As others have said, my first tuning took about 5 hours. The high notes were particularly challenging. But when I played it for the first time I knew I had made the right choice. The evaluation of the harmonics and calculating the tuning curve that this app does was significant to the quality of the tune. Great work, developers!
