The BEST planner app
I’ve tried soooooooo many planners, notebooks, and apps and this app has everything I’ve been looking for my whole life, it’s extremely convenient. Please never discontinue it
We are living in Hell
Just another app that pretends to be cool and customizable but in reality, all those features are locked behind a paywall. Don’t bother even downloading unless you wanna give them twenty bucks.
Crash!
I want to love it, but it closes before I can do anything! Using iPad Air up to date! Help!
Don’t!
Customer service never emails you back, despite paying for this janky app I’ve lost my data twice. Once when I closed the app, so I left it open on going and once, well because my login credentials were no longer stored. Reached out for support, and of course, radio silence. Find something else this sucks.
Poor Customer Service
I have used Pencil Planner for several years now and have loved it. However, now when I need customer service to switch to a different iPad, I can’t get anyone to respond and the reset password hasn’t worked. It’s too bad because I’d hate to have to find something g new after all this time.
Best planner for those who like to hand write
I have been using this for a long time. I have tried MANY and keep coming back to this one. I love that whatever I write in each box automatically shows up in various places (the day I write on in month view will show up when I switch to weekly view, for example). It is perfect for my neurospicy brain. However, I REALLY wish this had some color options for aesthetics. It is boring as heck, lol. And that alone is the biggest reason I keep trying (and hating) other planners. This app literally has everything I need, but man I get bored of the view, lol. Please give us color layout options!
Very Disappointed!
I have the paid Pro subscription and the app started to glitch and I lost all my info that I used for work. I even reach out to support but got no response. Very disappointed!
Almost everything
I really love this app. I really like that the layout and format are somewhat customizable, making it suitable for a large variety of people. I just wish that had a widget available for iOS. Give me a widget and I give you that 5th star.
Text keeps disappearing!!!
It doesn’t save my text so I have to keep rewriting it
3 stars
its lowkey pushy every time you log in its like BUY PRO like its cheap 14.99 but genuinely no. im trying to use it for homework and projects bc i want to be organized and its connected to my reminders, i dont like that because i dont want shopping lists on here. but you can draw events. it also has precise time stamps.
A few Updates away from Perfection
I don’t write reviews usually but this is genuinely my favorite planner/notes app I’ve ever used. The in-app syncing with my all my calendars is so useful. Being able to write over my time blocks on my Google Calendar instead of having to make another calendar for my tasks, scratches an itch in my brain that other apps and systems don’t. Truly love this app, just needs stickers and the ability to add images!
You’ll lose everything
It’s great, until it decides to erase all your notes. Everyone is having this issue and they aren’t doing anything to fix it apparently. Nobody can get a hold of support and there’s no patches coming.
Erases my work
It’s a great app to use to schedule my days for a better routine and time management. The only issue I have with it is that it erases my work sometimes. Most times it will come back.. sometimes it does not. I have only used this app for my daily schedule to keep on track for the past 3+ years and I hope they keep fixing this erasure bug because it makes me crash out sometimes cause I never know if my work will come back or not in the moment (:. I pay for the yearly subscription so please keep improving this app.
Powerful but unreliable
App glitches and shuts down too frequently for it to be reliable. Really love this app otherwise.
Keeps crashing
I really like the concept of this app and I love to use it to organize my schedule but lately it’s been crashing so much that it’s almost impossible to even use it. Please fix this! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but the problem is still there.
What happened
I’ve used this app for about 2 years now and within the last month and a half the app has gone bad. Every time I open the app it either crashes or “glitches” and anything I’ve typed or written has been erased. Not sure what happened because I loved this app so much…
Three day trial is a joke
Downloaded this and quickly found it was not what I was needing, so I immediately canceled since the app offers a three-day trial. My card was charged anyway, and two sent emails later, no response from the developers! Beware!
Easy to use + allows customization
I’m new to this app and so far I really like it. My only complaint if there had to be one, it would that I wish I could add stickers to my planner. I bought some digital stickers and thought I would be able to use them
Started off great but now it is not working well
I use this every day for work to write down notes and recently the notes have stopped loading or take a long time to load. I also created a note today and when I left the app, the note I created today was nowhere to be found. I already paid for this app, I would love my money back because this app is not working how it should anymore.
Suggestion
I wish their was a setting that you could also type on it
LOVE IT (using on IPad)
Perfect for handling multiple task and keeping organized while also allowing me to write hand written notes on it without using two separate apps. Def recommend if one has and IPad or Tablet of some sort with a pencil.
Notes issue
Normally love this app but all my data has been whipped. All notes gone. Month view calendar notes gone. Everything gone. Please look into this
Pencil planner
I recently downloaded this app. I am very pleased with it. I would like to see other pen colors. And a way to shade the event with multiple color choices.
Notes in calendar do NOT save
This app could truly be the best on the store for what it does, but writing notes in your calendar is rolling the dice to whether or not they will appear the next day. It’s in need of a serious update.
Takes forever to load the stuff I write
I really love this app. The design, the customization, the notes. I purchased the pro version thinking that it would help load the stuff I write…but it doesn’t. I wish that it would load what I have created a lot quicker than it does.
Prefer V1 over V2
I had been using Penultimate many years as a digital calendar. But it didn’t sync to my actual calendar. Forcing me to duplicate/write in my scheduled appts. That being said, I loved being able to hand write my tasks, markings for in process, doodles, etc. Knowing that technology probably caught up over the years, I went in search for new options. Pencil Planner V1 is the best of both worlds to me. And has functionality that adds more “diary” features as well which I like. It is a modern digital version of the old day planners, for those that remember those. V2 converts handwriting to text for tasks and doesn’t allow for personal handwritten markings etc. within that space. I find this inconvenient albeit neater. It also appears to lack the diary features. I found myself not using this on the daily because it wasn’t allowing me to capture what I wanted and how I wanted it. V1 has more ability to write in a form that matches how your brain processes and functions. This creates stickiness for memory. It also induces more personal order. PLEASE Don’t get rid of V1!!!
Was Great - Until it wasn’t
I have been using this app for a few years. It was wonderful. I could type or use pencil. Moving between the different view was easy and seamless. Then one day in early 2026 it crashed and when it restarted - the appearance changed. The links between day and month and week don’t work and the update doesn’t even have the same appearance. I have emailed tech support several times and still haven’t heard anything back. I was a paid subscriber - but no more. I am canceling my renewal. Don’t waste your money on this.
Great concept decent implementation, but room for growth
The concept is exactly what I was aiming for when I was trying to find a paper planner style planer for my iPad. It’s integration with the Calendar app and Reminders app is exactly what I was hoping for, and I like that the notes are able to link to the individual events or to a particular day. However, it does not seem that it has had any updates since 2022 and the list of features and updates has not been updated in several years which worries me with regard to support and whether or not this is going to be a maintained application in the future. A feature that would be really nice and I was hoping for would be the ability to either export notes using the share sheet or even better having the notes in this app synchronize with the Notes app just like it does with the Calendar and Reminders app that would be a superb option which would allow the notes that are created outside of this app to be linked as well and also accessible outside of this app on other devices. I am hopeful that the developer is still working on implementing some of the features listed on the website and I understand that it can take a long time to develop some features so I am not assuming that they are not coming. I just would like to see them sooner so that this can be more useful as a one stop planning application that would justify the subscription cost.
Support????
I absolutely love the concept of this app, but I lost all my notes and handwritten messages on my calendar. I reached out for support and haven’t heard back. It looks like it was last updated over two years ago. I doubt that anything on the roadmap is going to happen.
Issues with syncing between devices.
The app used to work so good for me. It would sync all of my handwritten events from my iPad to the iPhone version of the app. This made it super convenient for me to see what my schedule looked like even when I didn’t have my iPad with me. In the last year, my handwritten entries on my iPad have stopped syncing over to my iPhone. I’m logged into the same account on both devices. They are also both connected to the internet. Sometimes deleting the app entirely and then redownloading will sync my events, but I expect more out of an app that I pay a yearly subscription for. Please fix this and this app is 5 stars!
False advertising
App Store says no in-app purchases but there is a subscription
Crashes every time!
This app is useless! Constantly crashing so I can’t even use it. Really enjoyed it when it was working.
Laggy
It keeps lagging on my iPad and the app crashes a lot on my phone
Glitchy
I love all the features except when I log in everything written is gone. Eventually most of it comes back but the glitch is frustrating and makes using the app more difficult than it should be.
Looks different
I like the app and all it works but the aesthetics it showed in then picture don’t exist in the app
Very Useful
This Calendar keeps me organized. Easy to navigate and I am able to connect and see my other calendars like (google, outlook).
Noted Disappearing
I’m a Pro user, and there is a bug where I lost years of notes using this app. This needs to be fixed or my subscription will be forfeited.
App automatically closes
I love this app so much but every time I try to open the app it closes within 2 minutes and whenever I do manage to write it disappears after it force closes
No customer support
There is no customer support for this app. I use it in a business application and require notes. I can write a note but they disappear after a couple days. After repeated emails to support, I have finally given up. It is unfortunate since the app is very useful but the lack of support makes it impossible to give support.
Fun app, but, were are my notes?!
I would have liked it if the app would have not deleted all my notes… 😭😢 Also it would be fun if we could add some stickers, gift or photos on our notes.
Great
Absolutely love having the option of inputting information through my phone or writing it on my iPad
No longer works!
This planner was fantastic and then it stopped working a few weeks ago. My notes erase and the app no longer syncs between my iPad and iPhone. Such a bummer!
Good app
Good app but it would be much better if I could write in the empty space on the bottom right in the month view on iPad. Also, it really lacks a widget with easy tracking of your daily tasks.
Customer Support is poor
I've emailed twice - there have been no updates in a year - and the "next up features" was what enticed me to this product. Things like stickers and a desktop app would be terrific. I can only imagine that the reason that there's no communication on update timelines, is that there's no timeline to update on. I now am having an actual problem syncing my calendar and am hopeless that they'll even get back to me. (Paid subscription, btw.)
Trouble with the pencil part of pencil planner
I have the planner set to dark mode and whenever I write notes with white ink, it turns blacks. It has also changed the notes that I had written before this problem to black and I can no longer see what I had written. When I turn it to light mode, I can see everything. It’s strange because I do not have this problem with the calendar part, just the notes.
Best App - Please keep updating!
I love this app and I want to use it forever. The writing no longer syncs between my iPad and iPhone, but I’m holding out hope that the developers will fix these issues. Otherwise, this is the best planner app I’ve used (and I have tried them all - sometimes twice)!
TERRIBLE
I seriously spent all day decorating my calendar so that I can have my calendar on the go instead of on my paper calendar that I hang on the wall made everything cute. Did doodles put an important dates did almost 2 months of work and I open the app again and everything was gone. Mind you this is my first day using it absolutely terrible. I don’t recommend to anyone. This was a terrible experience and it ruined most my day. Hope this helps.
Pretty good! Some wishes though
I had previously complained about the lasso copy/paste not working anymore, but they’ve fixed it! I did notice in the change from school schedule to work schedule that if you change the schedule range, what you’ve written doesn’t follow and gets shifted out of place. Meaning I can’t change the schedule range without making my past planned stuff all out of whack. It would be nice if we could change it without ruining everything in the past!
KEEPS ON CLOSING
I love this app and everything however it started to close non stop and its impossible to use. Every time I delete an event or add one it automatically closes…. Please fix this
Glitchy
Most times when I try to write it glitches and erases my pencil strokes. Sometimes when I exit it erases writing on certain days and when I go to re write what was there shows back up over top of what I’ve just written an I have to erase the whole mess
