Wish you could just subscribe to one program
I really have been enjoying the free trial of this app! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish you could subscribe just to the Barre Program instead of needing to pay for all the programs in order to use it.

The reviewers are right.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the yoga app, have used it for years but I really hope they give this app more attention and fix it. The instructions are incredibly vague and it has no toggle for beginners and doesn’t seem to hit much of the upper body at all. Maybe it’s the few ones I tried but they were just not for me. What makes the down dog yoga app so special is a bit lacking here. Like another reviewer said, you can do a few minutes and it’ll definitely get you moving but beyond a 10 minute workout I can’t really bear it.

I wish there was more explanation and levels like the yoga app has.

Good enough
I use down dog yoga app and that one is great. Comparing Barre with yoga, Barre has way less options, I.e. no level selection, no time to allow for transition between the poses, no voice selection. You can only choose time lapse for poses, length of practice and music. I practice yoga for a long time and am completely new to barre - I must say yoga experience is very handy for barre, it gives you the range of movements, balance and flexibility needed to do barre. Another thing is that 20 minutes of barre is much harder than same time doing yoga, you work much harder. I will keep on exercising. Good enough app.
Inadequate at every level
Unlike the HIIT app from the same developer, this one is really lacking. There’s no customization for levels, there’s no warm up, the narration provides minimal explanation of what the model is doing, there’s no transition between exercises. While every app poses risks, in the sense that it cannot be a substitute for in-person instruction on form, this one feels particularly like a set up for injury given these gaps.
Needs better exercise management
I used the yoga Pilates and meditation apps from this company all the time. I started using Barre, but it’s so limited in terms of the ability to manage options that I don’t use it anymore. I’d love to see it brought in closer alignment to the structure of the yoga and Pilates apps

The Barre app is too hard, no warmup, sequences are not though through, you want be able to do all of them unless you are in really good shape.

Très exigeant
L’application est très bien faite mais je regrette de ne pas pouvoir choisir le niveau de difficulté. On dirait que c’est conçu pour les personnes déjà très athlétiques. Je fais pourtant du ballet chaque semaine mais c’est impossible de suivre l’entraînement downdog au complet. Les exercices de barre sont très difficiles et longs, avec peu de temps de récupération. Ce n’est pas pour les débutants.
First timer
This was intense and I felt it so much - good thing. It would be good to get the same functionality as the other Down Dog apps with choice of cooldown and Beginner / advanced as I felt a was beginning at the tough end… ! That says more about me than the app I think! But thoughts would be good.
Wonderful workouts
I have been using down dog for 2 years now. The best part is with my teacher status it is free! Each workout is different and I can choose duration of time, music choice, area to workout, and the voice of my trainer. There are several n different down dog apps, they’re all amazing! I especially love the hitt, barre, and yoga. This has helped stretch my sciatica and back i love the convenience. I can use this on vacation, at work, or home. Amazing! And it’s free for teachers!!

Great! Could use more arm movements
Great workout, very challenging. I’m enjoying trying this body weight workout, so glad it’s included in DownDogs workout suite. It would be awesome if there were more arm excerscises included. Thanks!
Needs more variation and customization
Compared to DownDog Yoga app the Barre app is trash. It needs more variety, choices, and clearer instructions. I’d also like to specify if I want more or less standing vs mat work. Just about every class I’ve generated has been the same: half the time standing sequence and then half down on all fours. I have injuries that make this very painful. I wanted to love this app but it just needs a lot of work.
Warm up missing
I love the flow, wish there was a warm up to the barre series. Feeling stronger every day.

Problème récurent de langue
Même en sélectionnant le Français les cours sont en anglais ce qui nuit grandement à la pratique quand on n’est pas à l’aise avec le vocabulaire sportif anglais. Et même en le signalant plusieurs fois au service client le bug persiste. Je ne pense pas que j’aurais acheté l’appli s’il n’y avait pas eu de possibilité d’entendre les explications en français. Je suis très déçue
Needs upper body focus
This app is an all around great app when it comes to variation and customization but one area I feel it’s lacking is having the option for upper body focus. Even in the full body focus there’s minimal upper body exercises and variation. Also the transitions in between work outs could be a little smoother.
Not as slick as the other Down Dog apps
I really like the other Down Dog apps, but unfortunately they haven’t nailed this one. The exercises are skittish - cross your legs… wait, do a leg lift…wait, she’s back with crossed legs. No warm up or cool down. Why don’t they spend some time making this a great barre experience?
The one that got away
I LOVE all the workout apps the HIIT, Pilates & Yoga. The benefits of choosing a pose you like or don’t and the fact you can see the upcoming moves. However with the Barre you don’t get this and it could be just as good. Why did they let this one get away ? Barre is still popular and I would like to see it get a facelift. So come on DownDog rejuvenate the Barre app…please.

Good execution but not enough customization
I’m a long time user of Down dog’s yoga app so I was excited to try this out. Overall it was a good experience but a few things can be improved upon. 1. More difficulty levels: There’s no option to increase or decrease the difficulty so it felt like I hit the ground running when I first started. I also foresee myself getting bored or plateauing after some time with this app because it’s only one level of difficulty. 2. Built in warm ups and cool downs: It didn’t seem like there were clear warm ups or cool downs incorporated in the routine which is a bummer because they make it easier to workout. 3. Shavasana timer: would be nice to set a timer for shavasana to have a clear end to the routine instead of relying on trying to keep track of time myself.

Like it, but could be more
The exercises themselves are great - challenging and rewarding. Would love more personalization like the other DownDog apps. Would love a warm up and cool down option and level ratings (eg beginner, intermediate, expert). Will keep using but not as much as the other DownDog apps.
Enjoyable
I have enjoyed the Down Dog Suite for some years now. I rotate between Yoga, Pilates & Barre. I enjoy that they are highly configurable, and even with the settings the same, the workout varies from day to day. Occasionally I even use the HIIT app. Thank you for these apps.
Barre
The Barre app is awful. The sequences are overlapping the whole practice with no time to get on time for the next move. Stressful and frustrating.
No warmup in the app…
I have just used Barre for the first time, only used Down Dog yoga and HIIT until now. It would be nice if there was a gentle warmup option in Barre and HIIT and perhaps a longer stretch? Maybe just as an option so if someone doesn’t want it they don’t have to do it? Great apps though, many thanks
Annoying bug on an otherwise great app
Have used this app almost daily since lockdown started and it’s great. Love that the workouts vary a bit every time and how easy it is to change certain things like time, music, etc. However since the new year there is a bug that causes the video to freeze roughly every 6 minutes, and the only way to address is to end the practice and start a completely new one every single time - frustrating as you never pick up where you left off. Have uninstalled / re-installed, tried different video qualities, and no one will reply to my email 😭
Painful
I wish they’d update Barre like they do Yoga. The exercises are effective, but the algorithm isn’t very good. You’ll completely, inhumanly burn out a muscle group on one side, then immediately switch to the other side and there’s never any time to shake it out or rest. It HURTS. Plus, this was recorded years ago and they’ve never added any new material or options they way they do for Yoga. So, plus 3 stars because it’s a good workout, but minus 2 stars because it’s old and impossible to complete it without taking breaks.
Best At Home Barre
Title says it all~best at home barre that I’ve ever done. I love that you can custom pick what areas you’d like to work on. I feel like a real ballerina when I’m done(😅😂)&my other workouts don’t really hit my calves like this barre does-so that gets me every time, in a good way! I don’t know what I’d do without all of Down Dog App’s different apps. I use them all the time(pretty much daily). Today I did a core only class after a bike ride-which was perfect!!! 😍 Thx DDApp we love you guys so much. If you’re hesitant to download the app.. try the free trial like I did. I knew I would keep paying for it indefinitely- that was 6 years ago and I’m still going strong. 💪🏽

Love incorporating this into my routine, the only reason I haven’t given 5* is because I find a lot of the transitions to the next move a bit sudden/fast.

Their other apps are great but this one has very little you can modify, some things I would love: a difficulty level setting (easy vs hard), standing only option, arms with light weights option, and aerobic boost.

Had high hopes of using this app but it is perpetually frozen after pressing start. Tried re-installing it 3x to no avail. :(

The lady doing the exercises looks so miserable… the voice sounds like a computer… I know it’s supposed to be minimalist and lalala but that’s just so not encouraging during the session. Makes it too impersonal and boring!!
