Passport Index reviews
4.2 out of 5, based on 564 reviews.
What people like
- Very accurate visa requirement information
- Easy to use and visually clear
- Developers respond quickly to user feedback
What they complain about
- Visa info is often outdated and wrong
- Forces you to share personal phone numbers
- Trip planner crashes or fails to save
- You cannot edit or delete your data
Excellent App
Very useful and really enjoy this app. I just updated my review. 5 stars for ease of use and developers quick response.
Trash
These people have never traveled anywhere because they have no clue of what they are doing.
I love this. But…
I love this app, but I would love to see French Guyana actually be part of France and not be greyed out, and also there’s a bug preventing me to look at the countries at the bottom of the page in the southern hemisphere.
Out of date, misleading
Information on visa requirements is not updated and travelers can easily be misled by this app. For example, it is still showing visa-free travel to Brazil for US and Canada passport holders, which has not been the case for quite some time now.
Privacy?
Some of the advertised features are not available unless you give them your phone number. And the App Store blurb says it collects contact data “not linked to you.”?!? Contact data for you is ALWAYS linked to you, obviously. And if it supports applying for a visa, then obviously that requires collecting data linked to you!
Brilliant App
Brilliant idea! Love the concept.
Full of mistakes
Despite the fact that the App looks appealing, it’s full of mistakes: 1) there’re many mistakes, or out of date data concerning visa requirements and e-visas. 2) doesn’t take into consideration the country of residence, that impacts the requirements. 3) doesn’t take into consideration the currently held visas, which changes many countries’ requirements. Add to the above, insisting on scanning the passport makes the App too fishy. Deleting the App, and moving on.
Feature request
It’s so cool you have released the app. Please allow saving passwords without creating an account. I do not feel confident to storing such info at 3rd Parties.
Not up to date
The information on the app is not as up to date as the passport index website. The app is therefore irrelevant.
Good idea, room for improvement?
I personally found that the website is much better than the app, but I do like the features. It’s a very well-designed app, but using it on iPad isn’t the easiest. It’s quite difficult to set up a proper account and it may need some improvements in that case. I still think that it has lots of potential;
Updates From Travel requirements
As You know Colombian Passport can enter to UK without a Visa since 6 November, Should Have an Update for all Passports more Often
You need to update the informations everyday
The app is smooth and flexible but the informations are old and they don’t update it at all
Information is Out of Date!
There are changes in Türkiye visa policies. For example, for Iraq. Please keep your application updated
Name
I Need to edit my name on passaport app and I don’t have see this opition!
don't wanna give my phone number to make an account
seems like you need an account to do anything in the app & i'm most definitely not registering with my phone number. will add two stars because it's free & a decent idea
Greatest App
This is by far the best ever app to use as far as visa requirement enquiries are concerned. I use it at work all the time and it is shockingly accurate throughout. Never thought a nongovernmental app could be this reliable.
Full of misleading info!
For example the new list of countries that have visa free access to Canada has not been updated almost one year after being announced. This is March 2024!
Good but still missing some data
Good but few cities are missing like Hyderabad India … etc
Doesnt have types of passports for Turkey
App categorizes my Special Passport as a regular passport..
Good but needs some changes
A few adjustments to the app would make it better number one is when adding your trips would be nice to change the colours of each trip also when adding trips it doesn’t recognise places for example los angels but apart from that the app is fairly good
Can’t receive verification code
The app is so useful but need to be updated. I have been trying to add my passport for over a month but I don’t receive the verification code.
Can’t add second passport
It’s incredible that I can’t add my second passport because I don’t have a phone number in that country?? What kind of nonsense is that? I select the passport from the list, can’t take a picture because it’s zoomed so far by default and can’t zoom out so I put it manually, put in my phone number (from a country different from my passport country) and it adds the passport for the country the phone number belongs to - where I DONT have a passport. This app is useless.
Nice app
Pretty good app overall, but would be nice if you could also add passports like the British National (Overseas) passport or other less conventional ones that are still used by millions of people.
It just seems to harvest data
The app is very eager to collect your personal information but doesn’t provide much in exchange; there are much better options out there for keeping track of your travels. You can’t delete or modify anything you enter - even if you delete and redownload the the app, adding a country to the list of visited destinations requires including travel dates and there’s no integration with the website version. It’s moderately entertaining if you don’t personalize it but a quick Google search can provide you with the same exact information without cluttering your phone. Don’t bother.
Adding visas on the passport
We should’ve add visas to our passports and see the difference on the map.
Great App
Love this app but can you make it where you can edit or delete a trip you put in.
Passport Rank
Wrong information with passport rank
Kinda cool & fun
I only have one passport (so far) but it's been cool and fun to put it in here, see my (that is, my country's) mobility score, and enter the one international trip I've taken so far for which I have the dates ready to hand (because I have the visa stamps in my old passport). The only hitch I can think of that I've run into is the function that's supposed to allow you to scan the cover of your passport. It doesn't work for me; I'm thinking maybe it's not calibrated and focused for the iPhone 13 Pro Max's fancy camera. I have to hold the phone about three feet from the passport in order for the cover to fit into the viewfinder (that shouldn't be), and when I do, the image is grainy and somewhat out of focus and the app doesn't even try to capture the image. This camera is capable of capturing very high-quality images, but the app doesn't seem to be choosing and using its lenses correctly. But it's all fine in the end because there are good-quality cover images of lots and lots of passports already provided in the app, and the one for my country's passport looks exactly like the cover of mine except the printing looks white while the imprinting on the cover of my passport is a metallic gold. I don't know how useful and up-to-date the travel information is in this app, but it's a fun sort of novelty app either way.
Passport scan
No way am I scanning my passport on an unknown site
Bug Found!
I am in the my trips area and my trip is starting from London, GB however it does not come up at all. Birmingham somehow comes up but not the capital city which is London. I saw someone else complaining about this in the reviews so please fix.
Great App but a Question/Suggestion
I want to start off by saying I love this app and it’s the easiest way to know the requirements to travel. However, I was thinking of planning a trip to a country that is marked with a “Covid Ban.” Is there a way to remove the Covid Ban marker to see what the country’s travel requirements are when there’s no pandemic?
Not useful for research
You can’t use this like their website for researching ideas for flag theory. the only way to really use it is to give them all of your information and then just use the perspective of your current passport. also when you compare passports it doesn’t show you how many days it’s VisaFree. Overall clunky and not useful especially if you don’t need to be giving out your personal information, so kind of useless. Their website is great though. I really like the improve function where you can add possible citizenship by investment countries to your current passport. that should also be on the app but wasn’t. disappointed but no biggie
Why no Bermuda support?
Great app but why is there no support for Bermuda?
Fixing
Please change new British passport colour. UK red passport no longer European Union on top
Help with icons
Wish there was some kind of information on icons and numbers. Eg there’s rows of men on the rankings of each passport, some shaded some not, what’s the relevance, what does it mean?
Feature request
It would be a cool update if the user could choose to see the passport map with or without the covid 19 ban.
It asks for your passport info which is very private
Theres a popup that almost covers the half of my screen asking for me to upload my passport. I’m pretty sure its illegal to ask for this kind of info for no actual reason.
Amazing app with a few minor issues
It has a really good look, it’s fun to explore, and most importantly the information is really accurate and up to date, and shown in a way that’s easy to visualize. The few small issues I have are with the trips feature. First, you can’t enter a trip using the passport of that country. For example, if you are American living in Canada and you log a trip to the US, it won’t accept it because it’s a US passport. Only trips to foreign countries are accepted. I also noticed that Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, San Marino, and Vatican City are missing from the trips feature. It would be nice if these were added. It would also be nice if the cities in the trip feature were in alphabetical order. If it’s possible, it would also be great if the app could have some of the website features too, like viewing Dashboard for passports not on your profile, or the Improve tab, or the Travel Visa Checker. But it is overall a great app; would definitely recommend!
Scan your passport for full functionality
The app will only gives you full functionality of you scan the photo page of your passport. What exactly do the developers want that data for? Thanks but no thanks.
Problem
There is a problem with the application. When I want to add trip information, it comes out of the app.
Sudden Visa Score Changes
I have the application on two different phones for Example United Arab Emirates visa free mobility score is 179 and on the other phone shows 178 what happened suddenly to the app and why the mobility score suddenly changed?
Data won’t be deleted
Trying to delete my profile and start over again as I made a spelling mistake on my name - but the app won’t let me do that. Delating the app didn’t also help.
Very good app
It’s a very good app except when you are looking at the map, you can’t see where you can go based on the color besides red and green. If it is blue or yellow I don’t know what those mean.
The map dosent work
The map keeps crashing
Amazing
It shows me all the country's passport that I want to see. The outside look of the app little cheep But the inside of it is amazing They even have a website on Google And I don't even know about this app into one day I look up into my app store and finally get to know this amazing app so cool It updates everything going with the passport first If I can grade this app by starting it will be 6 stars ✨
For a simple app, you are asking for too many important info
Why do you need my complete passport info to use this app? This does not make any sense. Apple should check you whether you are using or selling these info!
Upgrade required
Hey guys! Just noticed that you still using the previous UK passport style with the European Union writing on it. There is a new burgundy without it. Other than that it’s all good!
Trip area
When I go to the ‘My trips’ area and write in that my trip started in London, UK, it doesnt come up?
