EXTRA EXTRA… App rarely works properly
App will not load a paper 60% of the time. Spinning circle of doom almost every time I try. Was a “meh” app to begin with. Now it just mostly useless.
App no longer works
This app has had some recent modifications. It used to work well and allowed access to all the Saltwire publications. Currently, no publication is loadable and customer support does not respond. *** Update 2022 03 05 *** They we’re hit by a cyberattack on PressReader and need time to restore service. *** Update 2022 03 11 *** You need to delete the app and reinstall it to regain access otherwise you will get “network not available”.
Day old news
The news we get from this paper is a day or two old before we receive it in print. In this day and age. Do better for your readers.
Paper
I start my mornings with reading the paper. However, it takes forever to actually get into it. I have to close the app several times, click the download button, and sometimes it still won’t come up. I’ve been trying for an hour now to no avail. It’s a little frustrating at times.
Obits. I miss the list with the location rather than full on obits
And all our friends are saying the same
Stuck on Updating Catalog
This app worked flawlessly for years but over the past month or so it gets stuck on “Updating Catalog” and nothing loads. Often this can be fixed by closing the app and reopening, but then there are times when this doesn’t work either, so seems random. At least the Google banner ads at the top always seem to load properly ;) I’m using version 8.2 on iPad Pro running iOS 26.6.
New version uses a lot of storage
I upgraded my iPad to IOS 15 and am now noticing that this app uses a lot more storage. I used to just delete older newspapers but that is doing little to free up space now. Otherwise, good app.
Editorials
I do enjoy reading your paper, but I find your editorials are more right wing all the time. I would like to see a balance. Last week there was an editorial basically alluding to something the pope did years ago, even though he said there was no proof. It’s unfair, and abysmal timing to publish this. Think, use a bit of good taste.
Great News App!
Can’t seem to pay for a digital subscription, though.
Password never works
The password works on line but never with the app. Very frustrating.
Convenience
Having the SaltWire app giving access to all of SW publications is so very convenient. This allows us to follow happenings in Cape Breton where some relatives still live and Gander NL where my brother lives. The Valley publications are great to have again to catch the local goings-on. Naturally, the Provincial Edition it the ChronicleHerald is essential reading with morning coffee. It is a good combination and restores the value to our subscription.
No current paper
I can’t get today’s paper! Just yesterday’s comes up. Please fix this asap or I’ll cancel. No point in subscribing to yesterday’s news.
Outstanding E paper.
After delivery troubles because of our location, we switched to the online paper, and discovered we love it. This paper is intuitive, easy to use, way more convenient than the paper edition. We sit and read stories to each other over coffee, and enjoy reading all the regional papers. I strongly encourage everyone to subscribe, and keep the flame of local journalism burning.
No content
No local content in a local paper.
Love the new App!
Finally, a format that works well. Love it!
Was great - slow to open now
Generally this app has worked well however in the last couple of weeks, it’s been extremely slow at downloading issues even if I have the automatic download feature on.
Remarks
Insufficient local news and too many pages of puzzles and cartoons.
Stale Dated News
Not the good old days for sure. The news is usually a day and a half stale and there is little or no local content. The sports page is a joke but not as funny as the cartoons, more like an obituary page!
My opinion
Why does it steer me primarily to Cape Breton items? Why does it continually ask me to subscribe when I have been a Herald subscriber for almost 40 years Glad to have Truro News back. Colchester Wire is ok, delivery of it ( and Flyers) can be erratic.
Online Edition
Love the convenience
Horrible!
Been unable to access from the app in over a week. Countless calls to get help, calls disconnected EVERY time they transfer me to someone. Email to customer service tells me to contact by phone. Cannot update any personal info in the app, which would have made my life so much easier.
Absolutely wonderful
This app is a one stop luxury when it comes to putting your hand on the pulse of NL.
Software glitches are too common.
Lost a couple of days of the Herald when the apps wouldn’t function properly. On my Chromebook it was fixed for one day and now I can’t access the current paper again. Looking at other options for news.
The Telegram
Since the demise of The Telegram - paper edition, the Friday edition is just a compilation of yesterdays / weeks news. There is absolutely NOTHING NEW. Why have we been downgraded to a one day a week online edition. We deserve better.
Your new system
I am discouraged with the changes you made recently in reading the chronicle herald, provincial edition. I am in my 92 year but eyesight is good, but the new system is more difficult to read and requires continuous adjustment, even when I get one page adjusted to easily read, that adjustment has to be made with each succeeding page, I have tried to bring in one page at a time, but so far have not been able to accomplish that. Can you provide instructions to improve the readability of the paper.
Don’t
Froze my iPhone for hours. Spent ages working with a technician online to restart the phone.
Great read
I enjoyed the free trial.
Worse than Home Delivery
I thought that I would get much better service with an electronic subscription than relying on the underpaid carriers. Wow was I mistaken. The last two Saturdays I have had whole sections missing from my e-edition. How does that even happen and when you try to call, you get nothing but automated replies.
The Telegram
As a daily reader of the this paper for as long as I can remember I was delighted when they decided to go online ,after a few problems I finally got it mastered with the help from Telegram staff Now my wife wants it on her laptop Get ready Mrs Tiller
carbage
E edetion is one piece of carbage wont download any more . who ever put this e edition is a total idiot !
