Superb Fidelity to the Actual Rhodes!

I *LOVE* the quality of the sound of this instrument and its flexibility! It is a joy to play - especially as a MIDI-connected instrument!

iPad velocity bug

Hi Just opened the app and in normal velocity I can’t get the highest velocity on white keys. I need to stroke 2 keys at least to get it. I tried several things. How can I fix this? Thanks April : no coming updates to fix it?

★★☆☆☆ United States · v1.1.2 · 7 Oct 2022

Inconsistent volume/velocity response and abrupt sample stepping

Velocity response has very abrupt “stepping” between the rounder mellow “soft” notes and the classic growl of the “heavy” notes. What really ruins the experience for me is the growly notes are actually QUIETER than the softer ones! The samples catch some really interesting nuances from the tines and seem high fidelity but there can be a very distracting background hiss in some. I am using this with a MIDI keyboard that works great with every other well known keyboard synth for iOS.

Timbre disappointment

I really love Audio Kit synth apps and was hunting for a decent Rhodes. This one is not for me for the following reason. The basic soft tone is decent enough but the transition to the characteristic gritty bark sound is really abrupt! Seems like a new sample is triggered above a certain velocity. This means it feels like there are just two velocity layers, and when playing harder it is hard to control which timbre plays. Back to Neo Soul keys for me.

There isn’t a bad sound to be found on this instrument. It sounds, and feels, like the real deal.

“House Mark“ is not available on your iPad

The only AUV3’s I’ve ever had a problem with are the ones based on AudioKit. I opened an old file I hadn’t played in awhile and it said that “House Mark” is not available. I went to see if I could select it and, yup, no problem. I tried deleting and re-installing it and, still “House Mark” is not available. I’m glad I’ve already exported that song to an audio file as I remember choosing particular settings for House Mark such that just moving the notes to the NEW “House Mark” track doesn’t work to reproduce the sound. As exporting my music out of GarageBand is absolutely something I should be able to do and this prevents that, it gets one star. Be aware that if you use this, it may randomly indicate that it’s unavailable in the future. Fortunately for me, it’s only a critical part of that one sone.

Beta

Ok some the sounds are good ...but many of the presets have sonically crap artifacts noise wise which are intrusive in a modern mix ..it’s a beta release for alpha price. Let’s hope sonic delivery improves. Limbic 🧐

Great sound, but a few issues seriously cripple its usefulness.

As many others have already attested to, this app is a beautifully well done Rhodes recreation. Sadly, when I use it with Cubasis as an AU3, it suffers from 2 major issues. The first is that when recording on a midi track, the built in keyboard does not send midi data to the DAW. This can be overcome by using the Cubasis keyboard or an external midi controller. It’s not a dealbreaker since there is a solution, but it is annoying as I prefer the velocity response on the app’s keyboard and it’s not always convenient to hook up a controller. The second problem basically renders the app useless. Once you go to the trouble to get your midi data recorded and your song sounding nice, you want to be able to export everything and share your music of course. So, you hit the mix down button but when you listen back, the Housemark track is completely missing! There’s no way to render your finished song, so why bother using the app at all? I don’t know if this is an issue with just Cubasis, or with other DAWs that load Housemark as an AU3, but I’ve never experienced these issues with their other apps, so it seems like it should hopefully be an easy fix. Please do so soon so I can update my review to a 5 star and get to share my songs that I put so much work into!

Not velocity sensitive

Seems like it only has two velocity levels. The timbre of the two is very different. If you are a pianist avoid this one.

It’s just a single piano with a few effects

I’ve got nearly all the apps by audiokit and I think audiokit’s apps all sound so incredible. And this app is no exception to that, yes, this app sounds great. But upon stumbling upon this app, I wasn’t really aware what exactly it was. It looked like maybe another synth or something. The description did mention a piano, but I’m not sure if it was totally clear that this was going to be NOTHING but just one piano. So just to be clear: every single preset sounds like the exact same piano. The only thing about that sound that changes is the effects and stuff, but no matter what you change, it’s still gonna sound like the same wonky-tonk piano.

★★★☆☆ United Kingdom · v1.0.2 · 5 Nov 2020

Noisy, not necessarily in a good way.

It may be authentic, but the background noise, quite obviously present in my headphones, all but renders this unusable on its own. In a mix, or in a room through speakers it might not be so noticeable. But as soon as you put the cans on.......... Aside from the noise issue, it’s a decent electric piano. I might be a bit upset if I’d paid full price. Update. I am finding the noise to not be constant. Sometimes when pressing the same key repeatedly, the noise isn’t always there. This suggests it’s not the individual samples but something else.

Good app

The only thing is the airy hiss sound I get when I play the Ep sounds other that I would have gave this app a Five. If someone could fix that it will be great. Maybe the real Rhodes has that hiss sound in it don’t know but If I could control it a Five it would be.

App Volume Way Too Low

This app is unusable when running with other apps in an AUV3 situation, as even with the master volume turned up full, it is way too low volume compared to every other VST I have on iOS, which numbers in dozens. Too much hassle to adjust volumes across all the other apps I sometimes have running in AUV3 projects, just to match House Mark 1. It will not be used until hopefully fixed, even in standalone, as I have other electric piano apps that function properly.

‘No tines, no noise, no feel, no vibe. It’s not there’

I don’t know what people are hearing that I’m failing to on this one. I find it a muddy mess and rather poor. A mediocre Rhodes electric piano sample with zero clarity and an adjustable key noise sample volume control to play with coupled with some regular effects found in their other apps. Charitable or not (it’s mentioned in their media content promotions) this isn’t worth $3.99 let alone their proposed regular price of $14.99 no matter how many ‘Grammy winners’ are name checked as collaborators as purchase bait. Deleting and refund requested. If AudioKit Pro are going to ‘collaborate’ and have the collaborator be the voice of the promotions, create another developer name in the App Store to keep your brand reputation strong. This isn’t worth it.

Nice sounds, for lite use.

Lovely if rather basic sounds, like a NeoSoul keys lite. Just about worth the intro price. But really, all the self-congratulation from those who rate themselves is unwarranted. This is a good little app but NOT what the hype claims. Nic
