So this app alone has become my main social media platform, everyone is so nice, it’s an amazingly open and supportive platform and the dev(s) are all super cool! If you’re looking for a new platform to go to, this is the one!

Doesn’t even work anymore
EDIT 2: Welp it’s been a LONG time since I last used this app and tried to login again. I get a repeated error saying “There was an error connecting to Hive’s backend” now. So I guess the app is officially dead. EDIT: They finally added music yay! It’s broken too 😶 I can’t attach screenshots or I would, but for literally months I’ve been unable to edit the songs on my profile. There’s one song box that’s whited out and I can’t even attempt to edit it. And as other reviewers have stated, the owner of this app couldn’t care less about the users and you won’t get a response for support. Trash trash trash app. Just give up already. The app went down in November or December for security concerns and came back after a few weeks but when it returned all the features were broken. They asked for patience given that they are a small team and I understand that completely. However I don’t understand why every time an update is coming, the team lies to the users about which features will be returning. The music feature to this day is STILL broken, for instance, and they’ve promised its return with nearly every update. The CEO of Hive who goes by Ralucca on there even posted a news article that praised the music feature as one of the things that sets Hive apart… HELLO? You don’t even HAVE that feature anymore!! What are you even DOING?

the app refuses to work currently and I see someone else mentioned it’s in the process of updating so this is some cheerleading along the sidelines haha! I started using this app a bit over four years ago and I neeeeed to see what was on here and start using it again. it always felt very comforting and relaxed and like a journal and I’d really like to have that again
Had potential
It’s a shame this app is dead, i tried it as a Twitter alternative when it came out. The UI was nice and it seemed like it was going to be an app that stuck around. It had potential but died. Try Bluesky if you want a good alternative
? what happened?
i used to use this app for years and almost every day and now i can’t even log in. it randomly logged me out a month or so ago and everytime i sign in or try to sign up nothing happens. i’ve deleted the app& freed space on my phone hoping that would help and it didn’t. so idk if the app is having issues or whatever but idk if im the only one or not. can’t find any info on it anywhere
Honestly the best alternative to mlon eusk’s former bird app.
Hive has a great little community and it’s one of the best alternatives to bird app, super small but dedicated team behind it. Might be a little bit glitchy, but it’s actually usable unlike some other apps.

Hive Update
ive been using this app since 2021, and its honestly been a refreshing experience compared to other popular social media apps. i was taken aback when it suddenly stopped working but i checked out their twitter page and the have been “migrating data” and improving the app these past few months. they have a discord link in their twitter as well for updates. other then that im excited for when i can use hive again! <3

Unable to log in
Everything was fine with the app until the beginning of the month. I have been unable to sign in using my password and my email. It stays on the log in page and doesn’t do anything. I have sent an email to the support email on March 6th and have not received any response.

Tried to add up, but when I got to the date of birth, I added my birthday, but it wouldn’t get rid of the keypad so I can confirm it so as of right now I have to give it one star because the app will not let me make an account so that needs to be fixed and you guys need to do it in a way where we can scrolland just have a big firm button underneath and have us click confirm and move forward

New ig but needs some updates
This app can honestly be the new Instagram especially for me who is trying to escape the meta platforms and anything catering to certain groups of people that don’t care for the lives of others. Bluesky is amazing and I love it but this app definitely needs a few updates that will make it better to hopefully bring more people in. I suggest a story option. A music option that connects to other platforms (not just Apple) and/ or we can upload our own sounds. An option to send posts in chat. And a more personalized explore page as well.

First Impressions
IMO this app has the potential to replace instagram for those who no longer want to be on Meta-owned platforms. It seems to be the perfect balance between instagram and twitter in terms of layout and functionality. You can view your profile as a grid of cascading feed. You can also pin music to your profile through Apple Music! And there is a questions feature you can enable on your profile to interact with others. One key difference is there is no story feature like instagram has which would be nice but not a deal breaker. The major con is that this app is so underground! There are not many active users, so it’s a bit hard to build community. If more people joined I think it would be a really great platform and I would gladly leave the other sites in the past! I hope the developers are able to accumulate more funding to keep working on this app! There are a few bugs here and there in the sense that it lags but there isn’t too much to refresh as like I said, there aren’t a ton of users currently. Try it out!

I am already enjoying this app so much and extremely excited to see what the future holds. Props to the Hive team for coping with a massive influx of traffic from Twitter and maintaining a consistently great user experience. Godspeed folks!
Useless if you can’t log in
Unable to even set up an account to log in. It freezes on that screen and goes no further. Perhaps an ios26 issue

I really like this app so far it’s got great potential to be the next Twitter due to the layouts, the likes the rts, the qrts but I do wish we could upload video’s and also have the choice to make multiple accs without having to log out of our current one ! But as this is a review I think that this could be something you guys could possibly look into! Anyways! Thankyou so much for making this app as twitter looks like it’s going down hill 💀😭 hopefully on hive we will have group chats and maybe be able to create our own spaces etc !! I seem to have lost all my posts and can’t view any of the followers I have and I can’t set up my Spotify. It’s a sick app, I love it but I am really sad it’s doing this. Help?
My profile was randomly deleted
I don’t know what happened, I enjoyed the platform and connections I was making and then one day, poof! I tried logging into my profile and it said I didn’t have one.
It’s getting there!
Seems like a good alternative for a certain other app… it just needs some work. Birthday features are broken, and there’s no translation function. No way to share profiles either?
A safe little community
honestly i got hive thinking it wasn’t gonna be very good, but oh was i wrong! it’s a such a cute little app that lets you customise your profile and post videos/images and messages! it feels like i am in one big group chat when i post on hive, it’s so comfy!! i would definitely recommend this app if you like something like twitter but not toxic! 💕💕

Hive has a lot of great potential, it’s slow at the moment and crashes frequently but it’s not unexpected for a new development that has just been flooded with new users. Once this issue is ironed out I’m excited to see where Hive social goes. It already has great social responsibility, inclusivity, and a gorgeous interface with neat features.
App is great but the bugs are to many
Front page loading is buggy and every time you like a post it disappears. I tried changing my username it it’s just keeps loading and loading and nothing changes lol
Nice - but not getting updates on iPad
I like the app, but I am still not getting any updates on my iPad (which itself is up to date). For example a recent update allowed you to block followers, but when I log in and try I get an error message. I am trying the whole “delete and re download” idea (aka turn it off and on again) but not sure if this will work.

Good but could be great
I loved the app way better than the instagram. BUT for some reason I can’t see the pictures that i edited on Lightroom on the gallery to be posted, also the song for the home page keeps bugging for some reason.
Has a long way to go
Nice clean interface, easy to use. Search functions are good. Posting content is user friendly. But it is missing a lot of features. Blocking accounts doesn’t work. Reporting spam or abuse doesn’t work. What constitutes abuse is not clear. Contacting support doesn’t work. Deactivated accounts still appear. Pages will refresh and cut images off. Admittedly it is a very small team working on this. But the app probably shouldn’t have even been released with these features not operational. Give it another 6 months or a year and check back then.

I came over from Instagram to branch out and saw that this was an up and coming alternative to Twitter. I posted my first post the other day and it was more or less okay but could Hive please allow me to copy and paste? I like to type my posts up on my notes first but I soon discovered I can’t copy and paste this over into my post on Hive. I posted again recently just now and spent a lot of time organising the images I used in the post, as well as typing up what I wanted to say in it, only for it to completely disappear? My profile says I have two posts but only shows one of them. It doesn’t show my most recent post and I can’t find it anywhere! It’s quite frustrating! I don’t know how to fix this? I like the app and it feels like it has potential but it’s very buggy and laggy and seems like it has a long way to go. My experience has been just okay so far.
