What people like
- Great for tracking personal restaurant preferences
- Easy to see what friends actually like
- Fun social experience without typical noise
What they complain about
- Forces you to invite friends to use features
- Database is slow and missing many restaurants
- App crashes or shows black screens often
- Hard to compare different types of food places
Great app
Easy to use and great app. Ratings are really useful to choose restaurants
Required four “bonus” invites —
I’m stuck on the signup screen I got a “gift” of four bonus invites before I can even see the app :/
Good but room for improvement
Love the database of places but I think there should be more tiers to ranking restaurants, some places you get takeout or delivery from, others are casual restaurants for food and drink, and others are high end experiences, etc. the ranking system doesnt make sense between a casual restaurant vs a michellin star experience because the expectation is different and it clutters up the rankings having different styles of places in the same list (now i think i have ocd after writing this lol)
Good app but so much missed potential
There’s so much friction points of the app I wonder if anyone that works on the app actually uses it. Getting through a backlog of places feels way harder than needed. Why doesn’t it just use the photos metadata for the majority of the things I have to enter like the date, item, restaurant. Why beli why do you do this to me
Needs more than “restaurants”
I love the app in theory but it really needs more categories. Like for example, how can I possibly compare my favorite hometown diner with the fanciest restaurant I’ve been to? Apparently they both fall under “restaurants” so I have to pick. It’s really hard to rank places that you like for different reasons. And how do gastropubs fit in? Or bakeries that also serve food? The categories really need some work.
Excellent
One feature I wish it had was the option to search for restaurants that are alike. For instance, you could click on a restaurant and see five “similar” restaurants based either on meta-data or combination of meta-data and others likes who liked things like me.
Lacking Many Features, Influencer Focus
So many pop ups, can’t access features with getting other users to join, can’t export a list to anything other than Beli, can’t set your own rating, can’t re-rank anything that has closed. App is a dumpster fire that I so badly want to use but after years of no improvements I’m done
Categorize the types of restaurants please!
So difficult ranking breakfast spots verse dinner spots or even steakhouses verse pasta places.
Not so bad
I’m trying to use the app, but I find it annoying that I have to invite friends to unlock new features. It’s frustrating, even though I really love the app’s design. This app just isn’t for people like me. I’m only using it for one specific purpose. Otherwise, I’d probably delete it right away.
good app but slow and poorly optimized
great app and great idea but the app itself is extremely slow, and feels bloated/unoptimized. not sure if the entire app is just vibe coded but it certainly feels that way
love u beli
happy 1k reviews cutie pie
Not functional
App locked me out unless I sent an SMS invite to four contacts. In other words, not functional.
Neighborhood search feature?
I love this app so much, but I wish there was a way to search by neighborhood in a city e.g. I want recs in the Flatiron District, Manhattan but I can only search for the entire city of nyc including all boroughs- please fix!
Recommend before using?
Lost a user. When installing it makes you recommend the App to your contacts…. before being able to see what the App is about or using it!! Does not make sense.
It’s Alright
It’s got decent ways to review restaurants which is nice. However the app can look a little boring and it blocks certain parts of the app until you invite another person to Beli (which is ridiculous). I want to be able enjoy the full extent and have to invite someone else to do so. Granted I don’t have to pay money but not everyone is interested in this app. One of the least effective review applications I’ve used.
superfan
i love beli but i don’t like the new all ranking feature its totally off because my rankings for cafes and dessert and bakeries do not compare to restaurants
Sketchy
I was going to give this a try, but upon trying to sign up, found that they require you to refer a minimum of four people before you even enter the app (by sharing their phone numbers). Yikes.
Great app!! One feature issue..
Such a fun app! My most used social media. Easy to personally track places you’ve been or want to go. Fun to see what people you know are eating without the extra social media noise. Has almost every place I’ve looked for My only complaint is that the average score feature should be a basic feature. You can only access it if you refer someone and that’s one of the main features that I use so I feel bad when friends join and can’t access it. MLM vibe in that sense.. not everyone wants to refer someone and my family members will be less likely to use it if that feature is behind a pay/referral wall
Cant figure why i waste my time and effort with this App
Have been using this app for several months if not for a year. They created features as if giving you a new restaurant reco needs you to be their servant for your life. I can’t figure what this app gives me for providing with my rankings, previews and pics of places I visit. Yet when I am in new town I can’t find an option to get recommendations based on previous Likes. I get more literal cash back rewards from my CC than what this useless app gives me for providing it my choices for free. Sick and tired of these ‘social’ apps e silicon valley that are clueless and entitled for their abysmal business ideas that provide no value to the system and yet feel entitled to talk woke af.
Love. Make Inviting Friends Requirement Go Away
I live and swear by this app but every one of my friends has it, and I hate that you can’t unlock the extra features without successfully inviting someone.
Selected crowd reviews
Beli is so much better than any of the other sites or apps one can use to look at other others reviews of restaurants. I can choose to follow people who agree with my previous reviews. I’m not hearing the opinion of people who love restaurants I hate and vice versa. Over the time I’ve used it. I’ve come to trust what my “friends” rate are more than the other places. Plus, the other great feature is being able to save the names of restaurants one at another time.
A food app or a popularity contest?
Practically unusable if you don’t get multiple friends to download the app and use your code. They’re always adding new barriers to features
Good - could use an adjustment
Could separate Breakfast, lunch, dinner and other miscellaneous spots to get a more accurate rating in comparison to its own kind
Food social media?
Thought it was a way to rate restaurants and keep track of which you like and what not. Didn’t realize it’s just another form of wannabe social media that requires you to do certain things to unlock features. Could’ve been great!
Locked features
The app is great expect all the locked features are really annoying especially if you don’t really have anyone to invite
Probably my Favorite App
I use this app everyday! As a foodie this is a necessity. It is nice to have an organized list with personalized recommendations. Now everyone can be a food critic. This is THE social media app for food.
MLM scheme required
App requires you to add 5 friends before it functions
Slacking on Updating Restaurants
The app is so much fun and great to use, but they do not stay on top of adding the restaurants that are missing. Especially restaurants that are located within Mainland China. They are constantly getting the location wrong despite the fact that I leave the proper address in the description (it ends up being a completely different restaurant in Taiwan or something). Restaurants also take up to a week or longer, and sometimes are just never added, which is really annoying. I'm missing around 10 restaurants in a week because they won't add it.
Aplicativo com falhas
O app é muito instável e a conexão dele fica oscilando o tempo todo e demora muito para reestabelecer.
used to be great
Super spammy user interface now. it used to be a novel app (and I’ll probably still keep using it) but it just feels like corporate capitalism and ads. akin to the YouTube post Google acquisition moment.
loveee it
tbh I never write reviews but I have to bc this app is awesome! they are constantly improving it, and it’s very helpful but also fun. much needed if you are a foodie and want to easily compare, and get/give food recommendations.
annoying
10 million unnecessary pop ups when you sign up just for the app to tell you that you need to invite a certain amount of people to use the damn app💀deleted immediately
One annoying thing
The app is great and all and I love it but one annoying thing is that when there’s a banner notification from beli and I open it to read it, the notifications still say (1) in the app. Basically, I still have to go to the notifications tab INSIDE the app to mark my notifications complete & its not enough to open the notification from my phone banner notification to make the (1) go away.
good concept but app is so slow
i like the concept but please fix your database latency it’s very annoying
Black opening screen
App frequently has a black screen as of late. And fails to load even after several seconds. It’s giving a bit vibe coded.
ADD ME
If you see this add my beli acc right I have no friends @liyahfox
Annoying
It’s ridiculous that I can’t upload photos without adding a caption, or that I can’t review a place that hasn’t been indexed or categorized. Stop trying to be yelp and just let me post my food pics ffs
Nice
Could really benefit from something to differentiate places more; it’s hard to judge say, a Vietnamese bun cha place on the side of a road versus a French michelin star restaurant in Paris. Also hate how features are locked behind invites and how I had to give up an invite at the beginning.
could be better
restaurants limited to only ones on google maps, wont add restaurants that aren’t
Awesome
Awesome
Why am I required to nominate people
Got all the way to the screen where I’m required to send to four people. How strange. Get rid of this and you’ll have much more sign-ups.
Great app but too pushy
Love the concept and the function to Track restaurants I’ve been to. But I notice the app keeps asking me to sync my contact even if I didn’t initiate it. It’s getting to a point of annoyance it’s hurting the experience.
Please make the referral invites not mandatory
I keep trying to encourage my friends to join but the mandatory referral actually turns people away from using it :( please update! Thank you - just want to have my friends on there
I love Beli!
Awesome app, I love being able to rank and bookmark restaurants and see my friends choices as well! #Yummy🤪
Makes you sell the app for the them before you can use it
Seriously, they make you add 5 people to the app before you can use it. Absolutely ridiculous.
Could get there with some basic fixes!
When selecting photos to attach, Yelps gives you a selection of photos selected at the location first, which is very convenient. Seems like a must-have for Beli so we don’t have to scroll through everything all the time! Also you have the option to tag other people in reviews, but the other person can’t quickly hop on (same photos, same date) and rate as well?
painful on-boarding
very painful on-boarding for someone that wants to use the app. takes minutes. let me log in with apple. get me to invite friends later after i use the app and determine if it’s worth while
