Update broke app.
I updated and now can’t access anything on MochiKanji. It is telling me my password isn’t correct, it signed me out, and it won’t let you reset your password. I paid for three years and am very frustrated because I use the app daily.
Solid when it works
The app is solid, when it works. I have repeated Ben logged out, and when I try to log back it, it says my account or password is incorrect. I have a verified email, but when I try to send a password reset, it says it is not verified. Customer support is a joke, it is a Facebook messager, and it always say no one is at work right now but they will get back to me. By the time I hear back, my password has worked, and I am back in for a while. I paid for a year because I liked the app and how it works, but this is a chronic issue. I don’t know if it is a glitch, a bug, or what, but I never get any kind of answer from the ‘support’, I just have to wait it out.

I got scammed
I got charged twice for a 1 year subscription on MochiKanji and received NOTHING. No access, no subscription, nothing at all. This is unacceptable. Either fix your system or stop charging people. Very disappointed.

MochiKanji is a really good app to learn Japanese kanji! I like how it says what the kanji looks like and it’s really helpful! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I would really like the romanized version for the vocabulary so that I know if I’m pronouncing the words right. But otherwise, it’s really good!!!!
Golden time
the app stop notifying me the golden time, I’ve inquired through their website about this problem but I still haven’t received any response. I wish to fix this

There is not enough value here to even come close to justifying that price tag. I wouldn’t spend that even for a 1 time purchase.
I love the app but..
I love the app, but been having issues with it especially when doing golden time or even doing the alphabet it doesn’t let me go to the next level I have to exit completely and swip it out of the way to exit completely and then go back in to go to the next level. It’s been “fixed” a couple of times but it reverts back. Though i love the app and how easy I can understand it to learn I still love the app.
Very frustrating
When I downloaded the app, I thought it would go as normal. But it is the opposite. Here is the story. I downloaded the app, started learning for about 5 minutes I don't know, but when I got out of the app, and got back in, it told me to keep on buying stuff. This is not the app I was looking forward to. Pls fix it soon.
Font size too small
Unable to read most text and kanji on my iPhone 17. Have changed iPhone settings with no effect. Please address

Over all it’s a good app I would recommend but there are some things like I don’t wanna pay for “no golden time”like bro I hate golden time but no way I’m paying that thing or should I say abomination.Because I just came to this app to learn Japanese so that I can watch anime with no subtitles that’s it😭
Bummer
This is like anki, but way more enjoyable, aesthetically pleasing and accessible. However, you have to pay absurd amounts of money to progress, which is a bummer. I understand and condone supporting the creators, however, this is frankly sad. There was so much potential, really. You’re better off using anki after all.
Definitely requires more effort
The app seems like a great starting point for many learners. An introduction to a lot of Kanji, some example sentences with the words so you can understand them in context somewhat and a sort of SRS system that you do multiple times per day to shift up words to different levels of familiarity. The app, like others have mentioned doesn't deal with grammar so, you'll need another resource for that, like TokiniAndy's Genki Grammar on YouTube or Game Gengo on YouTube as well. The problems with this app start to arise when you try to actively recall the words you "learn" without seeing the words or answer choices. Multiple times you will have to go back and refresh the words raw to make sure they stick in your active recall. The translations are definitely AI Generated and can help with the jist of things but aren't the end all be all. The creator of the app isn't a native Japanese either so, a lot of issues arise because things will just be incorrect. Lastly, The app requires a pay to use feature that's a subscription based model. You have to go to their actual website for the app to get another option for subscriptions. Overall, the app is ok. Its cool and is a little better than Duolingo. Make sure you use other resources because the truth is, an app isn't going to get you fluent and requires months and months of effort to be effective.
One of the best apps I’ve used for Japanese
I’ve been studying Japanese for a while, and every time I’ve learned a word or phrase, I’ve had to rely on writing it down in a notebook and practice it over and over or I’d forget it. With MochiKanji, it’s been a lot easier to practice and remember the words I learn, being able to come back to them. Even without premium, it’s still very useful, and I can’t say the same about many other language learning apps. To the developers, thank you! To the people considering downloading, do it! I haven’t seen an app quite like this one on the App Store, and I’m happy I found it
Impossible to login
I’ve been a paying customer for awhile and there has long been a problem where I’ll get logged out and have to go through the onboarding stuff again but now as far as I can tell there is no way whatsoever for me to login to the app and recover my lessons or progress

Cute but buggy
If you go to the MochiGarden on iPad you can’t go back and are forced to close the app. If you disable notifications it takes you to settings constantly. Lastly, with no lifetime option it isn’t worth it. Subscriptions are the worst.
Just feels like a rip off of Duolingo…

Issues with opening + submitting feedback
App redirects to settings screen upon opening. I suspect it's because I have notifications turned off and it's incorrectly checking for permissions. In an era where everything demands your attention, I prefer to have notifications off and manage what I'm doing on my own. Additionally, the contact support button just goes to Facebook Messenger and does not have the option to email. I don't use facebook, and thus have no way to submit feedback aside from the review. It's a shame because I did like the app, and would revisit this if these were fixed.

i love the app! it really helps me when it comes to learning new kanji. the only thing i wish is that it was free because i cant go past the second lesson and i dont have enough money for the subscription 😭
Limited usefulness
I recently deleted my account. It’s not a great tool for studying to pass the JLPT. Once you’ve practiced the words a few times, you will only get a few words spaced out several hours apart in the day. This is definitely not enough repetition and certainly not an effective way to prepare much less become fluent in Japanese. I reached out to support and was told that I needed to manually scroll through the list of words in my “notebook.” As you are exposed to a word it is added to a list which is referred to as your notebook. Definitely an awkward and impotent solution. Spaced repetition software should provide you with a substantial chunk of words to learn everyday. The algorithm in this software will not. I would recommend using other tools like Anki and Duolingo to become fluent in Japanese. All in all MochiKanji is a waste of time and, if you are a premium member like I was, money.
Careful, this app contains mistakes.
The app is useful to aid vocab memorization, but I keep noticing mistakes from the example sentences provided and sometimes definition. This is a critical issue that undermines effective learning so it only gets 3 stars from me, and won’t be renewing my subscription.

There are better apps on the AppStore that don’t try to charge you ridiculous amounts for a years worth of access. For the free version, you can only save 30 words to your notebook! This is absolutely awful, how can you learn new words if you’re limited to 30?? I don’t recommend using this app, it’s such a shame because I had high hopes when I was first told about it.
Great.. but there’s a bad bug
Recently bought this app and got a full version including the hiragana app. But I’ve encountered a bug where whenever I get given a “seed” to plant in the “garden”, I cannot leave the garden page at all, and have to leave the app and reset, which is tiresome for what should be a cute feature. No amount of tapping and swiping lets me out of the page, there’s no x button. I seem to be the only person experiencing this so o don’t know what to do..
GLITCHED.
It looks nice, I love the UI but its so glitchy its unusable. Everytime I type, it doubles my letters! Like I type “m” once and it types out “mm” automatically. Its not my keyboard since this doesnt happen on any other app. I would love to use it but the duplication of my letters makes this unusable
Kanjis too small
There is so much space on my phone and they make the kanjis so small almost unreadable. It hurts my eyes.

When I learn how to speak Japanese, it’s kinda OK but the thing is that I don’t like about it is that you have to pay to keep going I don’t wanna pay because I don’t have enough money. I guess I really liked it but and so as mochikana I did learn a lot of Japanese and kanji so if this person made mochikanji please don’t pay make people pay a lot of money just just make them pay. Terrible app and ads
I am so sick of their ads disguised as testimonies that spam every known group polluting my feed, fake profiles giving false testimonies only to recommend this terrible app. There should be laws against this sort of misrepresentation. I bet all the 5 star reviews are the same fake profiles. Scam

Issues around saving and loading
I want to like this app. I like the structure, but it often struggles to load very often. It seems to have issues saving and loading previous data.

the app is cute and fun. only issue is that it opens my settings forcibly. it does this when I open the app and it’s quite annoying. when I have notifications on, the issue is fixed. pls make it so that I can keep the notifications off

Crashes all the time

Randomly Kicked Out of My Account
I connecting this morning only to find my account logged and locked out. I tried logging back in and getting a passcode reset all to no avail. I contacted their support via the link they provided through Facebook messenger. I know others have commented on this, but it is very true that they need to get some kind of support email address or helpdesk service rather than just Facebook messenger. I don’t know what the problem is, but it’s very frustrating considering that I’ve had this app for less than a month and this happened. I also have the premium account too, which makes it even more frustrating. Update: Developer responded after about roughly eight hours and fixed the issue. No explanation was given so not sure what happened. I guess I’ll just hope it doesn’t happen again?

Lots of bugs
Tree won’t grow, can’t see tree, I practice daily yet it says I’ve been learning for one day, notebook never levels up even though I’ve learned hundreds of words. When you open the garden there’s no way to go back to learning you have to restart the whole app. This and so much more. What may have been a good app in the past isn’t so good now, especially not on an iPad. Also the program doesn’t pick up your spoken Japanese properly and you have to shout at it… I’m on a brand new 2024 iPad Pro so there’s no hardware issues.
