Wonders of Mk3i
I can’t imagine what diving would be like without my MK3i.
How can this app be this bad
Unbelievably difficult to sync, QR code will or will not appear and who knows why, won’t work offline, garbles your dive logs with abandon, and the is absolutely no one to contact about it. I like my watch, but this app can burn in h*ll. FIX IT!
Log map view
Since the last update, the log doesn’t download the entire dive log at once. Because of this the map only shows the last few dives.
Wrong numbers again and again
What the hell are you guys doing? I use the very expensive x50i and your dive app keeps changing the dive numbers like a casino! Every dive I made with the x50i is wrong and when I fix it it keeps changed. No matter if I change it on the connect website or in this dive app.
Good dive log, several bugs
A good app for logging dives automatically from the MK3 watch. Several bugs exist like not being able to add dive sites to a logged dive (search function is broken and doesn’t find sites 60% of the time, despite them being in explore) and logged dives will randomly go missing but the app still increments your dive count as if they exist. Once fixes to these issues come in the experience will be allot better.

Love this dive watch!!! Just wish I could respond to text messages. I can text underwater but not on land.
This app is the worst part of a great dive watch
Why can’t Garmin take a quick look at the other dive log apps like Mac dive and dive log to see how many basic features Garmin is missing. There is a reason so many of us use 3rd party apps. But Garmin locks the API so it’s hard to get the data into a better app. Please fix your app or open the API.

Améliorez l’analyse des courbes de remontées
Cela fait 5 ans que l’application est sortie, et 5 ans que vous continuez à ignorer la simple demande concernant la vitesse de remontée. Garmin se veut un esprit d’évolution, en amenant les utilisateurs à s’améliorer en permanence. Garmin vient de sortir des giga monstre pour la plongée technique, comme la MK3i et la X50i et surtout, la Balise S1 qui est une avancée totalement astronomique, délirante, bluffante tant l’utilisation est variée et unique (suivre ses plongeurs avec un sonar, mais dans quel monde on vit ??? C’est une dinguerie, une poule aux œufs d’or) Et à coté de ces innovations incroyable pour la plongée engagée, il y a « Garmin Dive », une application tout juste loisir et absolument pas dans l’âme de Garmin qui pousse ses utilisateurs à s’améliorer. Pourtant cela fait des années qu’on vous demande d’améliorer cette application pour les moniteurs. Lors de mon N2, j’ai pu comparer avec Shearwater, et c’est fort dommage de voir que les ordinateurs Descents sont super efficace, mais que l’application ne propose même pas de quoi lire les données des Descents. Pour aller droit au but : Améliorer les fonctions de suivi des plongées en permettant d’ajouter bien plus d’option sur le graphique de plongée, comme par exemple : La vitesse de remontée (et s’il y a d’autres données à ajouter, profitez en). Vos ordinateurs sont ultra performant, la MK3i vient taper la bise aux Teric, et elle se permet même le luxe d’avoir SubWave, du jamais vu dans le monde de la plongée, innovation tout droit sorti d’un film de science fiction. Et pourtant, Garmin dive est ridicule à coté. On a absolument rien sur le graphique de remontée pour s’entrainer, pour chercher à s’améliorer. Une IA qui analyse notre vitesse de remontée pour nous donner des conseils serait un plus, et très sincèrement… avoir au moins la courbe de vitesse de remontée serait un luxe, tout le monde le fait sauf Garmin, qui est pourtant l’entreprise la plus avancée aujourd’hui dans la plongée Loisir/Tec. Pourtant ça fait des années que dans les Avis, ce soucis là est remonté, et pourtant rien est fait (depuis des années). C’est à se demander si Garmin Dive sera mis à jour un jour, ou si une autre application sera créée pour réellement répondre aux besoins des utilisateurs. N’oubliez pas que vos ordinateurs sont tellement performant qu’énormément de moniteur et plongeur Tec les utilise, et avec l’arrivée de la Balise S1, Garmin risque de devenir un leader mondial et détrôner Shearwater, mais ça ne se fera jamais dans un effort sur l’application Garmin Dive
Not so much to see on map
Unlike running you can see where you run, elevation etc from the app. It just show you the entry and exit login which doesn’t helpful at all, it would be nice if i saw a cool coral reef and I wish to save the exact same spot for next time or I can see from the app where I have drifted .

todd999 said it best “While the mk3i is a great dive computer this garmin dive app is trash. An absolute embarrassment. If you do not plan to improve the dive log with basic features then at lease allow us to use a better dive app. Mac dive and subsurface are both much better dive logs but garmin will not allow other apps to connect the the dive computer directly. So you need to use the garbage gamin app to get the data off then type it into a real dive log. Lame. Fix the app and stop blocking data export with all the errors.”
Please add average sac/rmv for all logged dives
It would be nice if this app included more information than just number of dives and total bottom time. I would love to have average rmv, average heart rate and other data displayed on my profile screen- a single graph that tracks average gas consumption over all logged dives, for example, would be beneficial in realizing improvement over the course of one’s diving career. Perhaps a report tool could be added, which could pull information from user specified data points. With more functionality, I would give Garmin Dive 5 stars.

ダイコンの問題か、時々、位置の自動取得に失敗するので、座標を手入力しようとするが、入力欄が地図で隠れてしまう。また、天気の入力もできない。改善して欲しい。
Automatic update on # of dives
Please Garmin Dive add this feature: when deleting a dive please make the numbers update automatically! I have a pool training session on dive ~10 that I need to delete and now I have to manually edit over 100 dives!
Excellent companion app
I really appreciate the map data automatically identifying the dive site based on GPS. Not an app thing, but I wish the Snorkel activity on the Descent had depth.

Good but weird limitations
There is no way to see the entirety of your private notes on a dive without going back to editing mode. Otherwise only a summary is shown...

Great App
Love the automation and all of the features. One thing I’d like to see in the app is the ability to export a file with my equipment list. This would make it simple to share with dive buddies or insurance if an issue ever occurs.
Buggy and no offline mode
Good feature set but too many bugs and papercuts 1. Not available offline. If you do a liveaboard where you don't have internet for a week you can't see your dives. You can't even start the app. Really bad. 2. Lots of sudden crashes while using the app 3. No automatic correction of dive numbers. Garmin Descent will count a dive for anything below 1m, creating lots of noise (each time you jump from a boat it counts a dive). When you delete this wrong dive, it doesn't correct the number attributed to the next dive.
Great app, but…
Love the app, best dive app I’ve used. Had a Descent Mk1, switched to Shearwater Teric, then switched to Mk2i just based on the Garmin Dive app being superior. However, not having internet connection (like when you’re out in the middle of the ocean) breaks the app. This needs to be fixed, there’s NO reason dove data can’t be local to the phone then sync with servers once cell or wi-fi connection is re-established.
Annoying for Freediving
Probably amazing for Scuba, but the analytics are annoying for freediving. When looking at the graph the dive starts after the surface interval so it says your whole dive is “12 minutes” making it harder to look at the ascent / descent rates. Have an option to remove the surface intervals from the graph
Missing some essentials
There are 2 features that I feel Garmin Dive is missing for it to be useful: 1. Combining dives - any surface time automatically starts a new dive. This is undesirable in lots of cases. I would love to see a feature whereby I can combine the dives. 2. Import from other software - most of my logs are in other software, so my options are to either abandon all my other logs, or use the other dive log software which can import FIT files and combine dives. You can guess which method wins.
MK1 fantastic dive computer
Love this dive watch / fitness computer. The heart rate monitor is top rate. Helped me to know when I needed to go to the ER. Ended up having a heart ablation. The dive app is extremely well thought out!

Great app but…
The Garmin device is amazing. Tracks just about anything & we all know that. The Dive app follows suit and has more info than I truly know what to do with and it’s pretty cool to have accurate dive information right after your dive ( on the watch but also the iPhone) Let’s be honest tho, I don’t want just my garmin dives loaded here . It’s time for the import function to be worked on ( not forcing me to enter 200+dives manually ONE AT TIME) Once the import is done with the basic structure, I can go and add more and more accurate pieces of data. Please mark it with an import tag so we know that was a PRE-Garmin entry…

Garmin Ecosystem Integration
I like that my dive logs are integrated into the Garmin Ecosystem. When diving I am using the MK3i, Inreach Mini 2 in the dive case, and t2 tank pod transmitter. I would in a future that a dive compatible chest heart rate and respiration be added. As I am wearing my watch outside of my wetsuit. Can a PSI chart be added to the dive log report? I n the summary I only see what my start and ending readings were.
Diving activities won’t sync to phone
Some diving activities don’t show up in this app / Garmin connect.
Garmin dive watch
Can read easily even with poor visibility. Scrolling through and changing gases on the fly is simple. Would like to be able to change colors on the dive settings; back light, and colors on the face itself.
Can’t Import or Export dive logs
The app is ok. But there’s no way to export or import dives. All my dives are logged in the SSI app, so I have to manually copy them over. Pretty dumb. A QR code or export feature would be great.
Would give it 5 Stars but…
Lack of an “offline” mode when syncing to the app seems to be a gap in functionality. Not sure why there’s the assumption that a cellular or wifi signal is always there. It seems that when Garmin is having server issues or you cannot get online the sync doesn’t work. I am missing a dive in my garmin dive log as the watch thinks it downloaded the dive but it’s not in the log anywhere. Also need a Windows & OS x version of the app. It’s a lot easier to add notes and provide more details via a full device like that.
Easy data download to my IPhone
My Descent G1 solar will download my dive to my IPhone as soon as I am back on the boat during my surface interval. I do wish that it would upload to my SSI logbook though.

Useless if you don’t have internet
The whole Garmin Descent experience is awesome until the last mile : the watch is beautiful, the watch usage and customization is great, the dive experience is tremendous, the data collected (GPS entry and exit points 😍), where it goes south is when I try to get the Descent data where I want. Unfortunately this is the part where the app comes in and it has multiple problems, the main one being that if your are diving in a sink hole in the middle of the jungle, or out at sea for multiple days in a row away from any internet connectivity, the app is useless. What further exacerbates this issue, is the devices inability to pair up with any other app such as Subsurface, DiveLogDT, or MacDive to name a few. Some of you may say “well you can import FIT files to those apps”, sure you can, but you must have an internet connection to open up the Dive app, sync your watch with it, then send that data to Garmin’s cloud, then you have to visit the website (can’t download these via the app), then you have to go through each dive entry and download the compressed FIT file (no bulk downloads that I know of), and then you have to unzip each file and then, just then, you can import it to the the dive log app of your choosing. This is really a very poor experience, and I’m surprised that Garmin put so much attention to detail to every other aspect of this watch ecosystem, but completely dropped the ball on this. My main request for Garmin would be this: Garmin, please make it easy for developers to download data directly from the Descent rather than having your users jump through loops and hoops to get the data where they want. Garmin Dive should be an option, not the only one.

Doesn’t connect to mk2i
Always tells me that it can’t connect to the Garmin Connect Server. However, the connection works in all other Garmin Apps.
Frequently fails to record watch data
There are many - 15% of my dives - that fail to transfer information from Farmington mk2 to app. It says it is synced. And will show that other info has, but the app never updates this and can’t go back and update it later.
Can’t delete dives
I follow the instructions and delete dives I don’t want. Next time I open app the deleted dives are back. Messing up my dive count.
Good app; better since initial release.
Decent app. I’d be more enthusiastic if the vast majority of information wasn’t already available in almost identical format in the Garmin Connect app. My wish list to make this a 5-star app would include: - more detail contained within the dive profile section (similar to Shearwater layout) - display of warning and alerts triggered within each dive (e.g., ascent rate warnings, ceiling violations, etc) - increased functionality with the “explore” section. There’s currently no sharing capability and the database of dive sites is pretty sparse. There’s a lot of potential especially when used in combination with Garmin’s own Mk1 computer, but it feels pretty bare-bones in its current version.

I have no complaints about this app. Have been using it for a few years. Very easy to log a dive. Connects directly to garmin dive watch.
Recently it hangs as soon as it’s opened
App recently started hanging as soon as I open it. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and does the same. Also notices that if you delete a dive it doesn’t adjust the count.
Good app needs more features
I really like the app and all the logging features. It keeps good data and I like the map feature but I wish it would let you add previous dives to the map and not just the log book. Maybe like how onXhunt app works where you could log different kinds of dives on the map with different colored and shaped pins.
