It’s clunky and annoying
This app just doesn’t do enough. It’s clunky and quite often it kicks me out and I have to log in again and again.
Getting better!
The app will often log me out, but it has gotten more consistent over the years and I love the ability to in a great app controls on phone and watch complications. The workflow capabilities are emerging.
PS4
Not as good an app as that you get with Tesla. Very glitch prone the whole infotainment system. Stuck with it for the next 3 years and then I’ll give China a go or back to Tesla’s

Love the design
King of minimalism. Sometimes features don’t work when the car’s connection is spotty but the app is one of the best. They could do some cool webgl animation when interacting with the car but otherwise it’s pretty good
Poor!!
Most of the time I try to use this app, I’m locked out! I have to log back in and then have to verify via email. Very inconvenient when I just want to set climate control or make sure the car is locked. I’m coming to the end of ownership as leased a polestar for 4 years, and barely a thing has improved with this app
Comfy, Quick, Quirky
After 4 years with a Tesla Y, I welcomed the improved comfort but miss the tesla software. Hungry handles, lacking air con and basic app. Rear video mirror is better.
Basic and Logs out often
Both the car and the app log me out so often it’s unreal! Like it’s a car, I don’t sell and buy every few weeks! Basic functionality compared to Tesla but it works. I think of Polestar as if an old man designed an electric car :)

Awesome Car
I've had my Polestar two performance version for over two years now and enjoy tremendously. The most recent software update messed up the radio widget. It used to show the artist and song whether it was satellite and now it does not
Key function doesn’t work
The phone as a key function doesn’t work majority of the time. Have to have the car and unlock it for the car to realise the phone is in the car to start
Predicting battery usage on journey planning.
The facility for planning a journey is poor as it only takes you to google maps app. I already have Apple Maps and waze and do not need another one which does not give me more features. If it predicted battery level at destination like many other EV car apps do, such as BMW that would make a third app beneficial

Great app simple and intuitive just wish it had further controls for auto remote climate. Like temperature select. Specially for the hot days!
Bugs Bugs Bugs
Polestar 2 owner. Adjusting charge limits doesn’t do anything. If I change it from 70% to 80%, it will still stop at 70%. The Home Screen widget barely works. It’ll randomly go blank (“select car”) and I’ll have to go into the app to lock the car or check charge status. Since I own a car that’s a few years old, these will be permanent issues forever. Do not expect any long-term support. I have yet to encounter a single company that will spend more than 12 months of dev time on a product they already sold you. All products have bugs, rarely are they fixed. You should just know about them before you buy a car.
More options please
Not all data from the car to populated in the app. Functionality at times could be quite limited an example of this would be setting the temperature in the car ac. There is only one fixed option. there are some good points about the app when your car is plugged in you able to see the charging speed the downside is that your car that is generated in the app will not be the same colour .
Poor Radio
Nice car pity about the poor quality of the cars radio, never seems to tune to DAB and regularly loses reception
Digital key
The connection and recognition of my phone and settings is extremely disappointing. On 80% of times it doesn’t recognise me and sets as a guest!

I’ve found for the last year of ownership of my polestar 4 the car started off with a quite a few software glitches and the it’s gradually improved with software releases, still a little way to go however improvements are being made, although slower then other manufacturers I’ve experienced
Infuriatingly bad!
The interaction between app and your online account is very poorly implemented no auto fill on usernames passwords basic basic functionality missing. And then it suddenly decides to set its own Charging schedule or Charging limits without asking you if you want to change them so you set your car to charge on a ChargePoint and it doesn’t charge because the app has decided to set its own schedule! Like all things Polestar very poorly implemented technology. Nearly as bad as the Polestar 4
12v battery level?
Does the app have anyway of monitoring the charge level on the 12v battery? I have heard from users it would just fail without warning. I'd like to know if the charge is low to be able to change the battery before being left stranded.

Background battery drain
Latest update really disappointing as the apps background activity is draining my battery so phone not lasting 12 hours on a charge. Tried turning off background app refresh but still draining the battery of my phone.
Improving with each update
I’m using a Polestar 4 and I’ve seen that with each app update the connectivity to the car gets more reliable.
Nowhere near as good as Tesla but at least it is not owner by Musk
I have now own / used a polestar 4 for 6 months. Software wise it is nowhere near as good as the Tesla. The App is limited in what it does. It is clunky and unintuitive. The google map interface - ie for charge point often inaccurate. Not sure how it can be because it’s google map. At least it it not own by Musk. I am willing to put up with the deficiencies in the App
solid bit missing some functionality
Clean and easy to use bit would be noce of it didn’t crash so much. Also a tail gate feature for PS2 wold be nice

The worst car ever
Handy but could do more
I have been using the app now for four months. It is good, handy to remote lock or unlock the car. Great through winter but lacking in features common in other EV apps for competitor brands. I have a Polestar 2 so can turn the climate control on or off. There should be the ability to set the target temp, and turn on the heated seats too. Also track the car whilst moving would be a great safety device not just when it parks. Like I said. Great but could do more.
Widget issues
The widget only works for a shorten period before saying No Active Vehicle. As soon as you open the app everything works again without logging in etc but only for a short period.
Usually good
This is a very simple app. But can be effective for controlling basic vehicle functions. However, sometimes it seems to time-out, and you simply have to deliberately open/awaken the app in order for it to communicate with the car. There was one time that I simply was not able to get it to communicate and I had to alter my plans and come back a couple hours later where magically it worked once again.

Why can’t I control climate through the app
I have a polestar 2 and all I can do is remotely set the climate control to 22 degrees. Why can’t I change the climate temperature from the app?

While the app is good, I wish there was the option to adjust the preheat temperature. 21 in winter feels and bit cold, but in summer it feels to hot
Average, when it works…
The app is very barebones, but the biggest issue for me is how long it takes to do anything on it. Trying to turn on the heating, having to wait a minute or two only to find out it hasn’t worked. Restart the app and repeat until it works. Shame as the car has been nothing short of amazing.
Unresponsive
The app takes an age to do anything, even on a strong WiFi signal. It feels extremely sluggish.

10% of the functionality of the Tesla app and almost never works
Says it added ability to unlock trunk but not available
The app is generally very usable and reliably provides most of the needed features. This latest update says it now provides the ability to unlock and open the trunk independently, however even after updating I do not have this option for my 3. This addition would be a great improvement.
Low feature, poor connectivity app
This app is basic. It doesn’t handle profile settings well, it uses a wallet card to unlock the vehicle which is inconsistent and often I get locked out, most tabs in the app are pointless. It’s a real issue. Compared to my previous Tesla app, the Polestar technology and app is far behind. It’s fine when it works, but some distance off Tesla.

Buggy and not quite right
Recently ( 03/02/26 ) I’ve been having notifications to my phone ( iPhone on 26.2.1 ) that flashes up on a polestar banner, I tap the banner and it takes me to the polestar app, but that’s it.. nothing to look at car states it’s ok, car locked I spend 5 minutes nosing about for it to happen a few hours later…. I feel compared to look in case something is wrong or I do dismiss it and the car has failed to lock etc.. The polestar app gives most basic information, and lets you know the state of charging. One item I cannot get passed is the climate you cannot alter the temperature it is pre-set and that’s it. I’d like to as an adult be able to choose a temperature that is comfortable to me. Nearly all other manufacturers have this in their arsenal in the apps. Disappointed Polestar don’t.
