What people like
- Reasonable one-time purchase price
- Lots of free content available
- Great for ear training progress
What they complain about
- Crashes constantly during exercises
- Mic fails to hear singing
- Developers ignore bug reports
I give it 8/10.
It has grown my music skills, I give credits to the developers, I’m very happy and glad it exists.
Cryptic
The lessons begin with no guidance on how it works. It’s not intuitive. Example: two notes are marked on the keyboard and the question is asked “Which interval is larger?” If I can only see one interval, how am I supposed to respond?
Excellent mostly
A few bugs that make some of the features unusable and require app restart. Rhythm training is mostly great. Note singing trainer is completely broken
Premium Features are Broken
Bought premium to be able to create a custom exercise in a vocal range that makes sense to me, and whenever I start any custom exercise it crashes
Well designed but
This app has terrible instructions. you have to figure everything out for yourself.
Challenging and beautifully designed app
Feel like I am finally making progress with my ear training again after stalling out. This app is super well structured and tightly focused.
Doesn’t work right
Whenever I click on the notes in the perfect pitch exercise. Even when I click the right one, it says I’m wrong. And in the tempo exercises it doesn’t follow suit.
Very helpful tool for learning music
The developers fixed some crashing issues restoring this to a very useful app. An issue I run into is if anything interrupts me during a lesson like a phone call, Perfect Ear loses the audio and will not play anymore so you have to abandon the lesson and start over to get audio back.
Seems Great
It’s great, but as soon as I purchased the expansions it started freezing and knocking me out of rhythm exercises and the metronome would freeze mid exercise not allowing me to finish the rhythms.
Missing some important features for learning
Hello, I am a customer, I think it is missing some important things for improving rhythm and sight reading. Number one, if I fail a rhythm tapping exervise, I would like to be able to try it again so that I can really understand what it got wrong. Number two, the sight reading drill is missing the ability to set different key signatures for reading practice.
Artista en desarrollo
Esta app es asombrosa para lo que necesito
Bugs bugs bugs
And it’s bugging me! The app freezes every time I go to do a singing exercise and just won’t work.
Crashing Problems
Been using this app for a while and it’s helped me as a young musician but every time I’m doing interval exercises it crashes on the final question and logs me out and I have to start all over just for it to happen again. Please fix this problem
Rhythm Training
I am trying the rhythm training, but when I click repeat to hear the rhythm again the inputs stop working. This makes it impossible to complete the exercise. I am still exploring the app, so I am sure I will find more faults as I go. I do love the concept.
Violín
Para cuando van a añadir el violín ? La tengo hace más de 3 años y todavía no tiene la opción de violín.
Musicians App
This app is the best app for training your ear.
Singing doesn’t work
It marks wrong or correct when I didn’t make a sound. It needs to be fixed
Great overall but…
App is great overall, but closes itself in the middle of exercises.
Glitchy
As others noted mic input is glitchy. Good app when it works, but lately has been unusable.
Less noise please
The “correct” and “incorrect” sounds are distracting. I’m trying to train my ear to hear specific intervals, and these extra sounds interfere with this training.
Yasmine
I LOVE THIS APP!!! It’s awesome for people who are in love with music that just wanna learn for the passion of it! The best part about this is app is that, it’s free!!! ❤️
Serious bugs
Voice drills / singing trainer does not work consistently. It will work for a few notes then completely stop processing any sounds. If you replay a note/ series during other exercises it will completely short out and you cannot continue. I’ll come back and change my review to 5 stars if and when they ever fix this. It’s been a problem for months. I emailed them and got no response. This could be an amazing app.
Guitar sound
This is a very good app and ridiculous value for money. My only problem so far is that I can’t get the guitar sound to play consistently; the app defaults to piano. Is this a known bug?
Microphone failure
Started out well, unfortunately there’s a bug in the microphone input processing step so although all permissions are in place it doesn’t hear me singing, which is the main thing I needed it for
Exercises are good mic integration terrible
Literally cannot complete exercises in the interval singing section due to the mic stopping working after about 3 - 5 exercises. Also, there’s no way to adjust the sensitivity of the mic to cut out external/background noise. If the app dev fixes that issue this would a 5star app with purchasing other exercises for. At present it’s a decent free app to get you started
Robust App
I’ve been enjoying this application for a few weeks. I’ve mostly used it for sight reading and rhythm exercises/drills. Looking forward to diving into the lesson work and ear training. I’d like to suggest a small change for the sight reading drill on timed mode: when an incorrect note is selected or the user runs out of time without making a selection, the correct answer should be highlighted like it is in the untimed mode.
Not for IPones
Does not work well with iPhones. Typically locks up at least once every minute.
Crashes on sight reading trainer
Everything works fine except the sight reading trainer. When I open up treble and bass cleff trainer in untimed mode, the app crashes after a couple of correct answers.
great app. but
it’s a great app to learn how to eat train but anytime i finish a lesson it crashes and doesn’t show that i did the lesson when i go back in, it also takes like 3 minutes to get back in
Keeps crashing in exercises
Great music theory with through methodically designed exercises to accompany it, but glitchy. Reluctantly looking for something more stable…
Awesome
All the other apps that offer music theory training have absurd paywalls and subscriptions. This app offers a great amount of free content, and the paid content is reasonably priced. I’ll be purchasing
App crashes frequently
Most exercises do not launch. No response from developers.
Good but Guided Courses don’t work
I’ve had this app for a few years but the new Guided Courses features doesn’t work on my iPad. Works fine on my iPhone though.
The app Crashes
The app crashes a lot! Every time I’m practicing, it will jump out and it’s annoying!!!
Crashes constantly
The content is great, but it’s buggy and crashes constantly.
Incredibly useful
Amazing app. Allows for on the go learning, practice of absolute pitches, rhythm, sight reading, etc. Everything feature can be used for free, with premium being an upgraded/configurable version. This app’s premium is the only in-app purchase I’ve ever made-it’s a one time $5.00 purchase that makes the app even more useful (and isn’t crammed down your throat while you get used to the app.)
App crashes
Come on developers fix the crashing app already.
mostly sweet
note singing trainer will often hear itself/fail to recognize correct notes before you can input anything through the mic. even with headphones. hoping for a future update that will fix this!
App crashing at end of exercise
The app crashes at the end of rhythm tapping exercises. If it weren’t for this bug, my review would be 5 stars.
Great but buggy
While this is a really great learning tool that really seems to teach well without any adds, it unfortunately has a bug of quitting the application after certain lessons are about to be completed
Fantastic
This is a great app with guided courses for beginners that will start to take you through more advanced concepts. I highly recommend it. The crashing bug has been fixed :)
App crashes
App crashes as I do the interval exercise
Bluetooth earphone setting
Love this app, I just wish there was a anti lag setting for bluetooth earphones because of their built in delay
App crashes on iPad on 10th exercise on all ear training.
I’ve filed 2-3 bug reports and no response or support by company. The app looks great but currently unusable on iOS 17.1.1. I even paid for full upgrade package and it still crashes on 10th every time? 😖
Amazing exercises but app has been bugging
this app has been super super helpful so far in ear training but Ive been having a bug lately that closes the app right when i finish one exercice :( i just updated the app and the problem persists
Love this app - wish it wasn’t crashing
I’ve learned a lot in the short time I’ve used this app. However, as many have said, it keeps crashing. Please fix this. I’d pay good money if this thing was working correctly. I’m using the latest iOS version on apple.
Crashes
Crashes on the last question of an exercise, please fix I actually like this app
Great for ear training
Great number of exercises. Only downside is that the guitar sounds are a little bit muddy and hard to distinguish in the lower register
Crashes on almost every exercise
I’d love to revisit and rate highly but it crashes on each exercise except the first one I tried. :(
Keeps shutting off
I use this app on an iPhone, and every time I answer the last question in a quiz the whole app turns off, it’s very annoying. I also don’t get to technically finish any of the tests I just go back to the start and the cycle repeats. Overall really good, but this one issue is very irritating.
