So customizable
Bowelle really lets you build your own tracker. I use it for a different stomach condition and it lets me build the data I need. I am also able to include other health data, such as heart rate variability, and three or four different ways of tracking the same thing (e.g., sleep, for which I have a number (hours), another number (quality), my personal tags to find patterns, free narrative for any detail).
Not worth the price
Careful with the subscription service . Three years ago this would have been a one time reasonable fee. Realized this was a subscription way too late
Kind developer, good app, but requires $18 :(
EDIT: the developer has responded and appears to be a kind person. I did not expect a personal response let alone the kind words and honesty. I am updating my rating to 4/5 instead of 1/5. I did not know the developer originally paid out of pocket. That is actually really cool of them. My only complaint now is not being able to even put one custom tag or have the option to have a version that shows ads and maybe a couple of features. However, it is clear to me now that it likely is not that simple. The app still is great. It really is. And the developer appears kind. Thoughtful. I am leaving my original review below for context but I wanted to update the rating, title, and review itself since the developer responded in a kind, personal, no BS way. ——————————- Original review before response and context given by the developer: 6 years ago, when i got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease on my 20th birthday, this is the app i was recommended. It was so helpful. And EVERYTHING was free. Now, 6 years later, you have to pay $18/yr to even place helpful description tags to track your patterns. 18$ isn’t insane, no. But to make an app that has not appeared even aesthetically to have changed in 6 YEARS and start charging CHRONICALLY ILL PEOPLE $18/YR JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN is GROSS. It is GREEDY. Most of us suffer almost on a daily basis. Many of us cannot afford the specialized medications let alone health insurance. Many of us will have to have surgical intervention, potential removal of organs, and possibly permanent ostomies placed. A removal of your butt hole because it is not longer functional and more of a problem at that point. I know because i am an operational room nurse . I’ve seen these surgeries. To ask sick people. To ask sick people who already suffer constantly who just want an easier way to track their body is so sick. I’m literally crying. I hate this world so much. I hate this greed.
Report was not accurate
I used this for about 20 days. When I generated a report for myself, all the information was mixed up. Like I remember specific movements on specific days…. And when I went back and looked at what I had input that day…. It was not correct.
Consistency
Although I have not mastered all of the capabilities of this App, I know enough about the basics to say with confidence that you get out what you put in.
Perfect App for Funky Guts
Have used this app for years, through I had bad IBS then GICovid. Easy customization and export options—other apps should take note. A responsive dev keeps it fresh — with no ads, nags, or sale of your app data. Highly recommend.
Promises. Promises
Nothing ever changes. Ever. No progress. No updates. Just take my money and do nothing to earn it. I have asked repeatedly for the ability to scroll back on a graph instead of choosing 180 days and hoping to be able to click on a certain day. I have been told they will be implementing this in an update. I have been told that over and over for months. It is never implemented. Seeing the entire graph at once I basically useless. Contacting the developer is also, it seems, basically useless. They promise and do not deliver. A thirty, ninety and 180-day graph is nice, but essentially useless. IMPLEMENT SCROLLING!!! It cannot be all that hard. It might be time to switch to a different app. I am tired of the lack of response.
Downloaded for acid reflux
Using this to track my headaches, reflux, supragastric belches and lightheadedness. It’s also really good as a food diary. Heads up to new users, you get one free custom section so use text. Overall pretty good and easy to use. I like that it has timestamps

It was a good app at first, i got the upgrade and was using for a few months but i realized the “added fields” aren’t in the chart? Kind of pointless without seeing it on the chart if you ask me..
Graphs
Graphs The app is good but the line graph is lacking. It only shows days with bowel movements and does not show days with no movements. This results in a straight line graph which is of no help
Easy to actually use
I’ve been trying to comply with a tracking app for years. Finally something low fiction enough to use every day

I’ve had stomach issues my whole life. Using this app has helped me realize what can potentially cause my IBS. I also use it when i visit my gastro to better analyze my data.
No good unless you pay for yearly subscription.
Installed app. Tried for several days, set up custom fields, tracked meals and health. Unable to make use of any info unless I upgraded to premium. Deleted app

Helpful keeping track of moods, eating, and bowel movements.
Too pretty to be useful
The graphs/ data is simplified so far (e.g. not even axis labels on compound views) that it’s impossible to glean any insights from the data.
Gets the job done.
Easy to use. I sent 6 weeks of data to ChatGBT to look for patterns and it liked the format. And, I got good feedback.
No use for Asian time zones
At 2 pm, the app is still telling me I had dinner - i.e. the information I put in yesterday. Doesn’t seem to update for current location, which makes it too difficult to use. Seems fine other than that.
It’s a good database, but not much more
I find the app easy to use. It is well laid out, easy to navigate and easy to add custom fields/tags. The reports do a good job laying everything out, however I expected a bit more ‘intelligence’ from the app. I was looking for some sort of correlations listed for types of food eaten and times and how they line up with my BMs and the details of the BMs. I’m sure we are all different, however my triggers are not immediate. I’m finding that they are often from the day before, or at least a meal or two before. The app lays all of your inputs out nice and neat, however you have to do your own sleuthing to figure out triggers and timings. Maybe my expectations were just too high.
Very GOOD App!!
I can’t believe I haven’t done a review on this app. It’s amazing. I’ve been using this app since 2023 to help me figure out my GI issues and it’s been real helpful to keep track of my journey and to look back historically. It’s easy to use and pretty straightforward. Will be getting the premium version.
Leider instabil mit iOS 16 & 17
24.10.23 update Die App verhält sich noch merkwürdiger. Die iCloud Sync am iPhone stellt sich selbstständig auf aus. Ich muss sie jedes Mal wieder neu einstellen. Auf dem iPad sind alle Symbole jetzt doppelt. Es ärgert mich einfach nur so viel Geld zu bezahlen für eine App die nicht stabil ist. Mal sehen, was der Support sagt. Leider ist das Programm instabil mit iOS 16 & 17. ob es vorher funktioniert hat kann ich nicht beurteilen. Das Programm stürzt ab bei dem Versuch einen Bericht in der Vorschau oder beim erstellen eines pdf. Dokuments. Die Synchronisierung mit meinem IPad funktioniert leider auch nicht. Ich hoffe hier wird nachgebessert. Ansonsten ist die App nützlich.
Simple yet effective
App is simple and i enjoy that quality about it . Sometimes it’s nice to have catchy fun apps to track things but for IBS i enjoy the simplicity.
Please fix these issues
1. Everywhere you show the date, please show the day of week as well. I forget to enter things sometimes. When I go back to fix things up, I think of the day of week, not the date. 2. In History, all entries with times should be shown in time order and not separated by category - BMs and food should be listed all together. This would make it easier to see if what’s eaten is having an effect on BMs 3. If you use the time control to enter a time for meals, the text afterward is smaller than it should be. You have to close that entry and reopen it to see the normal size text.
Easy to use
Simple but well designed and easy to navigate. Also able to customize a few things on the free version.
Disappointed after reading reviews
I’m disappointed after reading reviews of how good this app is. People have said they’ve used the free version to get charts and didn’t have a limit of symptoms they could customise. But as soon as I try to get a chart up or to add more symptoms than 1 - it asks me to pay to go premium. This apps supposed to be for IBS. How does it not already have things like Sleep, Reflux, Exercise, and Alcohol consumption as basic fields to enter? You shouldn’t have to pay for premium for basics like that. (These are absolutely essential factors for IBS flare ups)
Quality tracker
I’m in perimenopause and one of the many challenges is my movements. As a nurse I appreciate the importance of keeping regular. I also enjoy the mood piece & seeing the correlation. Good app

Easy to use
I’m documenting symptoms for gastroenteritis and this makes it much easier! I especially appreciate how it syncs with other apps I already use for water intake, etc.
Doesn’t display properly on iPad
The app only displays vertically on my iPad. I have a keyboard, so my iPad is always situated horizontally. I will delete any app immediately if it won’t display horizontally, shame as I didn’t even get to try the app….
Decent, perfect for tracking

App funktioniert trotz Upgrade nur eingeschränkt
Obwohl mein Upgrade bis nächstes Jahr läuft, kann ich aktuell nur eingeschränkte Funktionen innerhalb der App nutzen. Es wird mir das Upgrade vorgeschlagen, welches ich erst vor kurzem abgeschlossen und bezahlt habe.. Es wäre super, wenn mir hier jemand weiterhelfen könnte.
Good app!
This app has helped me a ton as I recover from PI-IBS! The interface is easy to use and I like that you can control how to input data, like on a scale, text, or tags. It’s helped me mentally to feel more organized and less stressed

Great app
It’s a great app, would rate it 5 stars but I’m wondering if any functionality could be added for activities (if I was active that day, what exercises I did, etc) - this can be great to correlate for ibs/ibd people
Simple way to track

I cannot export any reports . How do I configure my email?
I keep getting the message that my email is not configured . I have the premium version . How do I set this up .The data sync to my iCloud is set up the app . Please fix this bug
Nice easy to use
This app is great. For someone who thought it was normal to go every 3 days or not even paying attention when I went, this app makes it better for me to track so that I can speak to my doctor with actual facts instead of guessing. Suggestion: something is missing : number and consistency of stool is good But shape would be useful as a third variable.

Simple but effective
Very simple and elegant app that has all the basics and a reasonable price for the premium level. So much better than the competitors that pile on useless “features “ and then charge a ridiculous cost.
IBS Friendly
I suffer from IBS and this app is great for food journaling and tracking. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to add more symptoms.
