What people like
- Totally free with no paywalls.
- Super easy for beginners to use.
- Clear star and constellation names.
What they complain about
- Compass alignment is often wrong.
- Ads interrupt you constantly.
- Keeps crashing when you open it.
Works well with iPhone!
This is exactly what you want in a star app without all the information overkill. It does the constellations an d planets very well and is easy to use once you set up the location. Perfect for beginners and veteran stargazers!
Language/keyboard barrier
It is a great app, however, if you have multiple keyboards in different languages (eg latin letters and korean/japanese/etc, it picks up the added language as default and displays the name of constellation in that language. If you have not mastered that language, basically, you are lost. There seems to be no option to change it in the app.
Amazing app
Makes it so easy to figure out what constellation is what.
was the best, froze one day
this was one of my favorite apps now it froze and the send feedback button doesn't work
Easy to use
Nice app, quick to install. Lots of options available for fine tuning your search, without incurring fees. Only ever used free app so could not compare to paid version.
Not sure
Moved area and don’t get any information 🤷♀️
Best app, free information
This app gave me all of the constellation and star names for free, no paywall. Also simple and easy. Perfect.
This app is worthless.
Does not update on opening. Stars not shown accurate position. Is not working.
Stupid
Andromeda is wrong :(
Exactly what I needed
This sky map shows Messier, NGC and constellations and let’s me freeze a time later in the night so I can plan my imaging session. Perfect, simple excellent!

Not accurate
Although I like the virtual Star map program; attempting to locate a star while using the app is extremely difficult. When I aim my phone in any direction, the app is many degrees off. The alignment is so bad, that you have to look nearly 45 degrees away to see the app star that your phone is aimed at.
Love this app - my favorite star map for star hopping
Wonderful app! I use it with my 8” dob to star hop for DSO’s. I wish it could calibrate to align with stars so your could strap it directly to a scope and make it an instant go to rig. No complaints though! Give it a go - you will love it too.
Don’t line up with sky
Not accurate
Kurt
It was better before you added the sliders at bottom of screen
Good Star Map
Great
It shows me sun in the middle of the night sky
I think development haven’t even tested their app on iphone 12 pro, otherwise how is it even possible?
Good App, but doesn’t line up
I like the app, but is always off 15-25 degrees left or right. I’m not sure how to calibrate it so it lines up correctly with the actual stars.
Great
Shows what you want without a lot of unnecessary effort.
Horrible
It shows ads
no calibration?
I’m liking the app quite a bit in general, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to calibrate it to the actual sky. The sun always appears a few hours ahead of where it really is.
Great app
Best app to identify stars and constellations. If you’re interested in knowing precise moon phases this app is also very helpful for that.
Direction reversed
This app is showing me things opposite of how they are in the sky. What the heck? Cannot change the compass on it. Waste of time.
Problem with azimuth
Great ap but seems not to sense position in sky I am pointing phone at. Compass works OK on phone but not with ap.
Sooo satisfying and for relax night
I found Mars moon bun there is no Big Dipper and I like it I download it now so I wold tell you deviloopers
Très bien
Manque juste un mode nuit écran rouge
Great
Just started using and so far great for a beginner . Will be back in future with further info, pro and con.
☹️
It dont work right
Good
But not better then sky map
Way off (but updated)
Original review: App looks nice, but it’s well over 90 degrees off: I point it southeast, but it shows north. Not useful that way. Updated review: I’m not sure what happened since the last time I opened the app, but it appears to be correct now. Unfortunately, there’s apparently no way to remove the ads, which means I won’t keep the app on my phone. Nevertheless I’ve upgraded my rating from one to three stars.
Easy
It’s easy
Everything is flipped in Australia
I am using this app in Australia and everything is flipped
Fantastic
Brilliant app, I’ve recommended it to so many people x
Il carro
Simpatico. Io sono su Roma. Ma sono in Piemonte. È meglio se dai le coordinate giuste. Altrimenti sfalsa un po’.
THE BEST
When I was younger, I had a star chart. Also have some binoculars for the stars, but that app was only a cardboard piece of paper laminated with stars on it I can actually move my phone around and hold the universe in my hand at the same time! Thanks
Problem
Cannot get star name to appear
Ceri
I’ve been enjoying identifying new constellations and learning more about long-loved friends like Orion. Thank you 🤩
