Excellent app!
It’s really easy to use tracking water my plants and good to understand how to take care it. Also there have community with people who help each around! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Biggest scam
Don’t download it unless you are 100% sure that you want it. I canceled it at the end of the day of downloading it. And it charged me for a year subscription a week later. I was aware it would do that when I installed it. They make it really hard to contact them.
Warnings won’t go away
I’ve had the app for a week now and it’s great for tracking all my plants. I also love scrolling through the community tab and seeing other people’s plants as well as questions they have. I’m a totally newbie when it comes to indoor plants, so I haven’t been placing them in the best places. I appreciate that the app warns me when my plant is in a spot not best suited for it, but the problem is the warning won’t go away after I fix the issue. I change the site, both irl and on the app, but the warning still being there is both confusing and annoying. I looked up on google how to fix it, but nothing that was suggested has worked. There’s a true possibility there’s a function already in the app that I’m simply missing, but I would really appreciate it if the warning would go away after I resolve the issue.
Your AI is killing my plants
Newer AI version is messed up. This used to be a feature app. I’ll switch to something else soon.
helpful but will have you over water all your plants
This app more helpful than some other plant apps. Positives: Easily identified plants, allows edits to correct minute id errors. Negatives- Don’t blindly follow the watering schedule set by the app, continue to check your plants first or you will over water them, it wants me to water one day and the next day fertilize with liquid fertilizers which is just watering them again. This will clearly overwater them and cause root rot. Also, it gave me a task to remove the suckers from my tomato plant but it was a task for my African Violet and I don’t have tomato plants. There is no way in app to share these unhelpful and inaccurate tasks with the developers to make the ai advice better.
Love this app
I’ve used the Planta app for years. It has helped me keep my plants healthier and on track! I have quite a collection indoors and out now. O couldn’t keep them all alive without Planta. I love the identification, analysis of light, pot and drainage, and all the suggestions. Great investment to keep my plants at their best possible and fun to use, like a little game with checklists.
Spammy pop-ups have made this app unusable
Not sure what happened to the previous review I wrote about this. I’ve been a Premium subscriber for years now. Recently, there are now pop-ups advertising that I can refer a friend to get free Premium. The pop-up happens every time I water a plant. I have to close the pop-up to be able to mark the plant watered. I have dozens of plants. You can see how annoying this must be. If this continues, I will no longer be a Premium subscriber and will find some other solution. Sadly, it seems in line with Planta now focusing more on selling things and advertising what they sell, which didn’t exist when I first got the app. I already pay $36/year, but Planta seems mostly geared toward making more money lately.
Schedule
Not keeping an accurate schedule for some plants. Wants me to water way too often then telling me a plant was sick because it’s still wet.
Week Trial…
The free week trial for the app to ‘test’ it out is not great. There is nothing you can use on the app because it will just take you right back to the subscription purchase pop up. What’s the point of testing this out free for a week when you can’t even use the app?! What a joke.
Needs improvement
The app is not working properly last few months. It's hasn't been remembering that I checked off completing a task, then shortly after or the next day after day asks for me to complete task!

Great App….. minor concern
I love this app, as an avid plant nerd with sometimes upwards of 60 plants is incredibly useful and helpful! I loge all the features and its one of the very very few apps that I pay the sub for. I do have a minor concern that in the last couple of months there has seemed to develop a very bad lag when browsing plants. Like scrolling becomes a mission! Its getting to the point where I am rethinking the sub.
Another good product bloated by AI
Did it occur to Planta’s developers that gardeners might not want AI slop in their app? I’ve canceled my paid subscription.
Just OK - AI needs access to plant updates
The design of the app is decent if a bit clunky. For example, they have you do “plant updates” but then the AI can’t see those updates so you have to repeat information to get a diagnosis. I’d expect the AI to be able to follow along and hold the context of a plant’s lifespan to offer suggestions more automatically.

Great for beginners but…
This app is wonderful! In the past I killed a lot of plants but this app has fixed that. Lately my app has crashed/frozen in the diagnose my plant chat feature…it freezes every time and I have to close out of the app and go back in.
Plant killer
Downloaded this to help with watering reminders. Within 2 weeks 3 of my new plants are dead from following the instructions which lead to overwatering. Do not recommend.
Not happy
I am not happy with this app. It does not always work well with identification and diagnosing. I have found a more reliable way. Does not make sense to continue the subscription. Waste of money.

Seriously this app helps so much! I get really overwhelmed keeping my plants alive and this takes away all of the worrying!
Completely inaccurate
After so many positive reviews, I was shocked that the app could not even correctly identify my plants (I knew what they were). It misidentified most plants, including calling 2 completely different plants the same thing. It also diagnosed several obviously struggling plants as “healthy.” Completely unhelpful, not to mention that it said “7 days free,” and then charged me on day one. I canceled and requested a refund.

Great app for tracking plant care though think watering portion is a bit off.
It’s okay
It’s a fairly OK program. Just not sure it’s worth the money you pay for it. I had some sick plants and I went up to the community for advice on them and I got absolutely no help back.
Originally great
This app originally worked wonderfully. Since the last update, it has not been alternating the water and water with fertilizer options resulting in the app suggesting I water my plants multiple times a week. Every plant person knows that over watering will lead to root rot. I have to many plants to be checking if they need to be watered multiple times a week. I reached out to Planta support to make them aware of this problem, even providing screenshots, and just got someone who kept checking my log and telling me what the app was all ready telling me and was completely unhelpful. I gave up trying to explain to them what the problem was and just cancelled my premium subscription. I’ll be looking into different ones.
Fine app
Of the many plant apps, Planta is the most comprehensive one available.
missed two out of three
I had an identify three plants in my backyard. It got ALO correct which is pretty damn easy. But it called my lime tree, lemon tree and called my starfruit tree a Thai curry tree. Seriously?

I enjoy this app. It helps me with watering schedule. In the fall I hope to get the upgrade.
Good app but most basic option blocked by paywall…
It’s a good app. I use it strictly to water my plant. I care little about recognizing the plant, I just need reminders for task however why blocking te fertilizing reminders behind a paywall? I can’t even set myself customer reminders within the app… might as well using the Reminder app at this point :( Also there is a glitch if you water a day before a plant, it will mess up the entire schedule and start ask you to water it daily afterward. It happens to all of my plants over time. I had to completely delete the plant and recreate a new one to reset the schedule.
Good Supplement
I was using the app religiously without checking soil moisture levels and learned the hard way. You need to use a soil meter in conjunction with the app so you’re not overwatering, especially is you’re using water soluble fertilizers.

Long time loyal user, I’d be lost without this app
I’ve consistently used Planta for 6 years now and it’s such a stellar way to keep track of all my many plants! I never write app reviews usually, but I just wanted to thank the developer team for keeping this thing running!! May all of your plants be happy and spider mites never bite!
Crashing
This app cannot go two seconds without crashing. Only app on my phone with this issue.
Good app but could add a few options.
This app is easy to use and took the place of my Vera app that’s no longer available. The reminders are great and the main reason I use the app but it’s missing options that Vera had. If you could add those this app would be amazing! These are just a few options I loved and miss on the Planta app. 1. Being able to add the date you acquired a plant. 2. Being able to manually add a plant that’s not in the app without having to wait for it to be added. 3. When setting up your own watering schedule, being able to set an actual date for the next or last (either works) watering.
Prettiest plants I’ve ever had
This app has helped me manage over 250 plants in my home and they are gorgeous! The trick is monitoring moisture yourself and using the advice given and the pause and skip buttons. You still need to make sure you don’t over water. The app tries to judge when it’s time to water based on the criteria you enter for each plant, but you still need to check the plants before you water, as recommended in the app. Planta never lets me forget to feed a plant. It also prevents me from over feeding. I don’t know what I’d do without it. My plants are so much more beautiful since I started using the app a year ago. There is no comparison. And I love the progress feature. It’s fun to look at the monthly photos of your plants and see how much they’ve grown over a growing season. That’s actually one of my favorite features.
Don't pay for this nonsense
$3.99 a month for something that google does for free? The usefulness is nice, but it's not worth the price. There are free alternatives that work just as well or better. I'm tired of these freemium apps.
Plant collector
I love Planta to keep track of my large collection! I can set custom watering and fertilizing my own needs. I can make my own notes for tracking special concerns or treatments. I can share the app with my family if I’m away on vacation. My only ask of Planta would be the ability to run History & upcoming tasks reports because of the size of my collection. Happy Gardening!
Buggy
1. Frequent, sudden crashes. 2. Slow performance. 3. If I happen to be listening to music on another app in the background, the music shuts off as soon as I open Planta. This is the only app where this happens to me - any other app I open, music continues as normal. That being said, it’s very nice to have watering reminders - especially customized to the plant species, soil type, light, etc. I do think the progress updates are a bit excessively frequent but that’s not a big deal.
Don’t understand why the AI can’t do things
Why do I have a convo with “Dr. Planta” but it doesn’t update the watering timing or anything? I don’t get why it’s separate
Brown thumb to green thumb
I love plants so much but I had a terrible brown thumb, I killed the hardiest plants just by getting busy and being forgetful. This app really helps me a lot. And helps diagnose issues and has even helped me bring a plant back from the brink of death. Worth every single penny.

Good. Could be better
Give more options for different climates. Like, stop reminding me to water an outdoor plant when it has been covered in snow for two months. Give a snow button when snoozing. Also, no option for fertilizer pellets? Only options are liquid or stick or “don’t”.

I love this app, it helps me organize and keep my plants watered right. I’m addicted to plants so I’m constantly getting more so this will definitely come in handy!
Abusive freemium UX
Most basic features are locked behind paywalls. The few “free” features are littered with ads, including frequent popup ads that require multiple steps to dismiss. Premium offers horrendous value- if you don’t shell out monthly for basic features, you are subject to everything described above. Recommend using any of the free or paid alternatives that respect your time and money.
Photo ID is bad
Love this app, it helps to track all my plants with specificity. The only bad thing is the photo ID for plants is garbage. It almost always mislabels a photo I submit.
Premium not worth it
If you know anything other than the basics about plants, you don’t need this app. Dr. Planta is just AI — you can easily use basic search software for the same thing. The fertilizing schedule actually negatively impacted my plants, so I’ve skipped it consistently. It’s pretty easy to know when to mist your plans, and to repot them, so that proved unimportant as a feature. The light metre was ineffective. My entire living room is full of windows and is perfect for plants, but the app is always saying there’s not enough light in the room. The watering schedule is off. I can see plants wilting and check the app, and they’re not “due” to be watered for another 15 DAYS?? Nope. Just listen to your plants, they’ll tell you more than this app. The only good thing is if I’m busy or scatterbrained, this is a reminder. But you don’t need Premium for that.
Almost got it perfect
The manual configurations need to be 100% manual. Every time I attempt to manually configure the plant settings I’m not able to add both the sun coming from a window and also a plant light. It only lets us do one or the other which I find highly unfortunate given there is an annual subscription that you cannot choose to pay monthly. The point of this app is we should be able to configure the plant settings according to what the plants needs are in our spaces. It does it well for the basics however The AI can’t always detect conditions in our space.I’ve tried this app before six years ago and I did not find much use for it so I decided to try it again and this is what I’ve come up with. That being said, I will continue to try to find other plant apps to take care of our plants or configure my own schedules with my iPhone calendar. Which is more work would you have a lot of plants. If I’m able to pay monthly I’ll keep it.
