Easy to share my belongings….no extra hassle no extra questions just protection that everyone needa
Can’t Sign in…
The link from their website to automatically log into their app does not work. And then once you find the button to login via your email account within the app also doesn’t work. To make matters worse, there’s a fake Guardian App “powered by Alarm.com” that I almost gave my credentials to. If they don’t solve this soon, I’ll be cancelling both their subscription and eero’s as well….
Good Overall
This is a nice option to increase your overall security, however sometimes it doesn’t remain connected and there’s a delay of several seconds when it reconnects, especially if I have not needed to run any apps or visit any sites for some time. Hopefully this can be improved. When that happens, I will update my review to 5/5 stars. Thank you.
Buggy
Enjoy resetting the app multiple times a day because your internet stops working. Love the functionality. Hate that it rarely works properly.
Needs a widget to show when active
Keeps dropping from the server and I’m a pro customer. Not a good look. With servers over saturated from scaling and not investing at the needed rate drops are inevitable. At the very least offer a Home Screen widget that shows when guardian vpn app is active and connected so that at least customers can easily tell.
Needs on/off toggle in widget
The program itself works well and as expected, however the app shortcut needs a toggle to turn the app on and off. As it is, it takes too many taps if one wants to turn the app on or off, whereas a widget would be available right away.
Meh
not user friendly
Epic failure
Only thing worse than the app is the non-existent support. They spitball solutions without reading the issue. Updated my review. Developer addresses the issue after several emails, getting eero support involved, and many screen captures regarding the issue. Still not sure why my account was deactivated, thus the four stars, but it is fixed now. Should not have taken this much effort.
Terrible performance
Really wanna like it, but ran into numerous instances where the app was unable to load the server list on cell or WiFi. Additionally, the address space used by some of the servers is weird (SC educational orgs?) and causes problems with apps on my device. Windows app is also absolutely awful.
Day pass
When i shared the day pass it didn’t work(showing 502 gateway error).
Great VPN but have a suggestion
First off the VPN works well although some times it’s slow to connect it usually finds its way. That being said I think adding the switch that is on the app to the Apple control center, basically allowing quick access to turn on and off the VPN. This would be a great addition as some apps just don’t work when using a VPN or some apps need a VPN or rather you should use a VPN while using said app. Allowing the quick access would reduce the time of exiting out of an app finding the guardian app and turning on the VPN and then going back to app you wanted to use.

Pretty good
Took some trial and error but I think I’ve got it working as I want now. The biggest issue I had was that the VPN would block some apps that I use frequently and I would have to turn the VPN off to access them. I created a separate tunnel for those apps only to realize that you must use the IKEv2 protocol instead of Wireguard to do so. This isn’t optimal because the Wireguard protocol consistently has faster speeds and hopefully there will be an update for this. Otherwise no complaints.
I want to want it
I’m on a trial plan. I want to see how much is being blocked. And I have put in one app and one domain to be exempted, as they won’t work with a VPN. After first adding the exemptions, that app and domain worked while running the VPN. That’s good. But hours later the exemptions inexplicably no longer work. I’ve tried adding them back in with no success. This is a deal breaker. I was ready to purchase a one year pro subscription, but this one issue has made this decision a non starter.
my opinion after testing for 2.5 months
I paid for the firewall which comes with some cool things. It no longer is showing anymore blocking. It has stopped counting after blocking over 9000 (exact number I don’t have in front of me) things. The lack of location servers is pretty basic and not full featured. It also runs on a protocol that smart people can look up the exploit of this protocol and break it if being targeted. There is no way (that I can find) to change this protocol. Another thing is, I notice (made a script to show) it dropping out and immediately re-connecting a lot. Other VPN’s also do this and others are far more stable. I did notice many-many times that most locations (when changing) were not available. To have such a small list to choose from to begin with made it a little disappointing. Maybe my issues are my own, maybe others don’t notice a dropping and re-connecting because they don’t notice it like what I did to show me a popup. Maybe others don’t mind a less secure protocol that’s been shown to be insecure, maybe it’s good enough for them. I wish the makers of this app good-will, I root you on. It’s definitely way better than the top VPN’s in some areas and lacking in other areas big-time. I’ll definitely be testing this out more from time to time to see if it's back blocking (firewall) things like it should. I'd love to see more protocols, and the stability issue fixed. My current one I use has stopped once in 2 days, sometimes this (Guardian) VPN would drop so many times it was ridiculous and annoying with the script I use to show when it breaks. I'd suspect if I hadn't turned on the option to automatically run would just disconnect and never re-connect. Fix- Firewall Fix-Need more protocols to choose from Fix-The dropping and re-connecting But I'll say again, maybe these issues are my own but I might bet they are not, at least the protocol issue is to everyones concern to those that care. Anywhere I am wrong at on this, I'd love to be corrected...
Problem solved
I downloaded Guardian a few weeks ago and I experienced that the protection turned off automatically and needed to activate it several times. I contacted technical support and was told to switch from the generic transport protocol to WireGuard. Thanks to the professional advised it works now flawless and 3400 tracks have been blocked. Thanks for your support Update: After using Guardian for almost a month I’m seriously considering to stop using this app. It draws the battery, some applications are not open at all unless I temporarily disconnect. This is quite annoying. Some features seem to be only available if to pay for the pro version which is extremely expensive for private use. Also this app doesn’t block advertisements on any website. I did use DNT - Do Not Track which blocks ads automatically and I didn’t have any problems opening websites.
Forgets my login information every time
I’m not sure how anyone can like this app. It logs me out every single time I have to turn it off . Super frustrating. Next!
Sometimes unreliable service but great support
Update: Support always responds quickly in order to troubleshoot and solve issues like the one below. ———- I’ve been subscribed for years but in the last couple of months my internet connection stops working every few minutes to every couple of hours or so and I have to ‘reset configuration’ every time to make it work again. This VPN has become unusable.
Where’s the protection?
I had been using Norton suite. There prices keep going up. Someone told me about Guardian. They had been using it for several years. I thought I would give it a try. After installing, it prompt me to subscribe for a day at 99 cents and being a new user I would get additional 6 days. After buying the one day subscription, I tried searching the internet. Page would not load. Just for Curiosity I turned off the app. The page loaded. Tried another web browser, same thing. I contacted tech support. I would get a response 1-3 days. WTH!!!!!!!!
Uses Legacy VPN Technology
I really love the firewall, but the VPN, which still does not use WireGuard, is way too slow. If you’re paying for a huge connection to wherever it is you use your phone, you don’t want to severely limit it with an outdated legacy VPN. Guardian is a firewall pioneer, it has an incredible firewall for mobile devices that is par none, but it is a VPN dinosaur. I heard Guardian will improvement WireGuard in 2021. Until then, I just won’t use the app. When I can verify that it’s good to go and that the VPN is very fast, I’ll become a happy subscriber.
Can’t pay
I can’t pay on my pay pal! I don’t know how to pay for the year! Help!
Doesn’t work with Logitech Circle View doorbell. Buyer beware
Support said sorry and they’re trying to find a solution. It unfortunately I’ll have to cancel my yearly subscription
No app for fire stick
Works great for my phone. But I was really hoping that I could use this on my fire stick and I can’t. Guardian, get in the Amazon App Store!
Not intuitive or simple
Can’t tell if VPN is actively working. What is wireguard? Yes, I’m new to Guardian. I just want to know if I’m using VPN, but my phone looks to be using wireguard. From what I’ve seen Wireguard is a firewall? I didn’t ask for that.
Slow VPN
This VPN uses old IKEv2 instead of WireGuard fast, modern, and more secure tunnel protocol that runs on the Linux Kernel. I hope in the future to see WireGuard implementation with this VPN. Nothing bad about this VPN but like I said in the current form it is slow for my taste. Once you implement WG I will give you 5 stars. Thx!
Fantastic
This is the best vpn for me. Explore the app and figure out why it could be the same for you
Virus Injection
So I was using this VPN and what happened was it said “Virus infection”
Good fast network switching, loses login info
Favorite part of this app is how well it switches between networks when it’s on. It’s basically instant and I can go between multiple WiFi points in the building and cellular and the app reconnects flawlessly every time. What I don’t like is that the app loses my login info, for example if I have to restart my phone or it dies before I can charge it. One feature request: enable / disable VPN based on geofencing or other rules. I use this more to simply have a private VPN at work than to have the blocking features. I’ve found that the blocking features of the app can be aggressive and that apps can perform sub-optimally, so I basically use very generic blockers for FB / Meta and the like, vs. anything related to app reporting. I’ve had no luck getting around blackouts because the providers detect “I’m on a VPN” and I think this goes for just about any VPN these days. I wish there were more detailed descriptions about what the implications are / what kind of data is captured within the default selections Guardian provides for each entry in the blocklist. I.e. “You want to block firebase because xyz.”
Most websites require you to disable so what’s the point.
If most websites you go to detect you’re using VPN and require you to turn it off for them to function, what’s the point of VPN besides the latest tech money grab?
Breaks my Banking and streaming apps
I find myself having to turn it on and off regularly to get through a days routine. I’ll be canceling this subscription before it renews. One more thing, why not make it as easy to unsubscribe as it is to sign-up? The entire experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
The Best Customer Support and VPN
I can honestly say this is one of the best VPNs I’ve used and I have tried them all. I like the fact it gives you a notification when it blocks something and what it blocked. I know it’s working. The customer support is great. They worked with me when I had an issue and they stayed up on it till it was resolved. Give it a try and I bet you’ll think so too. 👍🏻👍🏻
Still tremendously inconsistent
My reviews have gone from 5-star shortly after I helped with the pilot app, to 4-star when it got a bit more saturated and flaky, to 3 when certain map sites and an online list by craig started blocking, down to 2 stars when it seemed to break my connection 10-15% of the time, and now down to 1-star because now almost half the time I can even receive a text while this has been running for an hour or so. I know the other VPNs do not offer the same incredibly necessary blocking, but when I use my other paid VPNs my connections are reliable 99% of the time instead of 30-45%. Wish I could still use and love this app. I will not be renewing once this year is up.
It works
I have the eero plan and they just switched over to Guardian. I like the app but I wish they had the same feature as encrypt.me when I’m connected to my Wi-Fi network the vpn will turn off because sometimes my things don’t load.
Not good for bluetooth
I have installed this app to pair smart lamps without the risk of man-in-the-middle attack but I was unable to pair the lamps.
Monthly Legacy vs Premium? What’s the difference
What’s the difference between legacy and premium monthly services besides price?
Sweet
Swrz
Would not install
It tried to connect VPN , but failed on IOS 14.2, uninstalled it
Crash on launch
The app crashes on launch and has continued doing this for at least the last week. !wen patch
Intermittent only, either blocking and/or reporting
Because I can’t prove whether this app is blocking trackers, its reports of blocking are the only evidence I have. Those reports are intermittent at best, but are always rare. My experience with proper firewalls on Android, and with the (sadly degraded) Lockdown app on iOS, is my standard for how such a phone app should function: it blocks connection attempts per a backlist, and reports those events in real time. This app is not doing at least one of those things.
It works .. and it doesn't.
Seems to block privacy infringing stuff as shown in the Guardian app but not traditional ads that are seen on websites.
Quick customer service
Good data on what it’s blocking. Quick customer service.
Terrible app!!!
Terrible App DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!! I downloaded this app to find out more about it and as soon as I opened it, it asked me to accept a free 3 day trial. I looked everywhere to see the cost after the trial is over but it doesn’t show pricing anywhere. So I clicked accept thinking that it would take me to a page where it would give me info and pricing on the subscription but instead it simply just set me up and it appears as if it would charge me after the trial is over. Even though I did not put in my credit card info, there is a section that seems to suggest that it can charge me through “Apple Pay”. I don’t want to wait until the subscription is over to find out if I will be charged through “Apple Pay” or not so I clicked on the part where it says “manage subscriptions” and it only takes me to the App Store. Why does this send me to the App Store!?!?!? What does the App Store have to do with managing my subscription!?!?!? I go to customer support as provided on the app but you can only contact them through email. There is currently no number for customer support. If you guys (the developers) are going to be charging subscriptions, then at least you should provide a customer support phone number for billing questions. I simply wanted to call them and find out if I will be automatically charged after my free 3 day trial or what is going on. When I downloaded the app, I was hopping that it would be an app that we would purchased for like $10 or something but instead it is subscription based. Even though I don’t like subscriptions, I wouldn’t have a problem with the subscription if they provided the costs upfront, if they provided a proper way for us, the client, to manage our own subscriptions and if they provided a phone number for customer support.
Great App- Want a Widget!
This is a great service and I’ve been a paid monthly subscriber for about 2 years now. Is a widget in the works? It would be helpful to toggle on and off easily on a widget iphone home screen. thank you!
Many apps and services will break
When using this VPN, numerous things break: Apple weather returns no data, podcasts won’t download, Dunkin app can’t process payments. I constantly have to turn off the VPN to get functionality back on my phone, which defeats the whole purpose
Good premise
I really wanted to use this, seeing how so much effort and research was put into it. A VPN that also shows tracking culprits, great idea. Yet every time I try using it I find one or some other app completely breaking (eg Maps, Telegram). Either my WiFi dns setup is not compatible, or I don’t know how to use it. Shame
Continual Protection
Really THE great VPN. I fully believe the Pro subscription is the way to go. Customer service is second to none. The team behind Guardian Firewall is very responsive and they release rock solid updates that reflect their dedication to their customer base. I truly appreciate the set it and forget it stability that this VPN brings to iOS. I am Team Guardian all the way.
Not free
Says it’s free but then wants you subscribe for 99 cents. Waste of time!
Incredibly Simple — Little Detail on Blocked Domains
I’ve downloaded AdGuard Pro, Lockdown and Guardian (Pro subscription). AdGuard Pro is my favorite, but Guardian is incredibly trusted, simple to operate, and allows me to add my own blockers (by domain, one… painful… domain… manually… at… a… time…). Guardian Pro is awesome, but it’s slow, and I don’t think it’s blocking as many tracking domains as others I’ve used. I completely trust Guardian based on what I’ve read. Guardian Pro strikes a nice balance of blocking / protection without breaking your phone too badly. I just wish I could upload a TXT file of domains to block.
Poorly written
Bought pro, same bugs. What a HUGE letdown. Protocols don’t work often and will think you’re in EU- preventing access to App Store and more. 3 year user finally done a/subscription
Keeps switching itself off
Simple to use but have had to activate it for a third time in 2 days.
