I had been recommended but my short time with UP was awful Definitely NOT recommend this bank Unable to talk to anyone, unable to get information except if AI was your only contact COLD and Demeaning bank
Great but need a desktop app
Really love the ease of budgeting and saving with Up, but being ONLY available on a phone app is nerve-wracking. No online banking means if something happens with your phone or the app itself, there is no way to access banking. I would really like to see even a desktop app as an alternative access point (still an app if that’s so important to Up) but accessible via pc. If this was resolved I would give it 5 stars - ease of use, customer service and interest rates are top shelf.

I like how the app is gamified, but i don’t like how you’re penalised for money out of ur saving. currently (5.35% down to 2%)

Poor customer service and app
Recently refinanced to UP and trying to get large transfers to UP is borderline impossible as they aren’t part of rtgs and blocked our cheque for essentially unknown reasons. Forced to do the transfer over standard transfers over multiple days has ended up costing us hundreds in interest. Also if you need help quickly, forget about it, their chat only customer service is insanely slow and poorly made, there’s 0 feedback on your queue or wait time and you just have to hope and pray. We were just standing there trying to deposit our cheque and tried to enquire why it was blocked and found out it was because of potential fraud security hours later when we needed confirmation right away. They also try to obscure any fees you need to pay for valuations if you’re thinking of getting a home loan with them. They cover up to $400 of the valuation but don’t tell you or get consent for doing a valuation that costs more and only take the funds at settlement so you have to read your loan offer documents very carefully. It’s not detailed in the disbursement section but the finer print on page 4 of the potential fees section. Overall incredibly poor service and the app is having intermittent issues in receiving funds with 0 explanation. I would strongly encourage you to find alternate banking options if possible especially if you do require any level of customer service. For the most basic of loans it may be okay but there are cheaper options out there as well. I signed up for the feature of individual accounts being offset accounts for joint loans which in hindsight was not worth the trouble.
Banking
It is ALWAYS messing up, personally wouldn’t recommend and im going back to my old bank. As of today it’s been down since 3pm it’s now 5:44pm. It brakes down at least 2-3 times a week it’s beyond a joke!
A few minor issues
I’ve been with you guys since 2021 and I’ve actually liked this bank but some things that’s given me the ick is the grow and flow. Like i use my savers as a way to stop spending and I put a certain amount in each one for the month like bills and that but then the grow and flow makes me feel guilty for using it on my daily expenses which I think shouldn’t be thing. I also am not liking that you guys are going through outages a fair bit lately especially last night. I like how you keep everyone up to date but I am lucky enough to have more banks so if this happens I have backup money else where but the outages do suck a fair bit but I am thinking of instead of going from using it daily to just using it as a back up savings for important things. You guys have been the longest bank I’ve been with since commonwealth stole my money

Fantastic card for overseas and at home. Refunded a dodgy transaction in days, replacement card came super fast
Horrible bank
Do not bank with this bank. I got my account shut down for suspicious activity which was payments to my landlord that I have done once a week for 3 years. You also will never be able to get a home loan using this bank and accountant hate it so don’t use it
So disappointing
Really disappointed with the recent changes made to interest on savers, goes against everything I joined for!!
App needs improvements to prevent further outages
Just had two outages in one month with Up, and the current one is yet to be fixed right on payday. I’ve been with Up for a few years now, and this is quite disappointing. I hope the team can improve the app to prevent this from happening again in the future.

Actually a good banking app
I have never wanted to write a review for an app before, but after 4+ years, I’m quite sure this is a good app. Lots of quality of life changes being made frequently, and just makes the banking experience really stress free and actually fun. I could go on about all the features but I can’t be asked rn. Just genuinely a good app.
Frustrating UX—Style Over Substance
Very poor UX. The app doesn't look like any other banking mobile app. I suppose you could call that 'innovative'. But for UX, an application shouldn't make people think. It needs to be so straightforward that users don’t have to search or guess to find basic functionality. For example, try figuring out how many steps it takes to find the interest rate for an investment property loan on either the app or their website. When Up doesn't even offer investment property loans, that limitation should be crystal clear in the very first step, not buried somewhere in a maze. I honestly can't find a single positive word for the geniuses who designed this 'masterpiece.' Absolutely brilliant.
