Greatest sport in the world
I live in Vegas and went to the games and got hooked the action is intense and the players are amazing. The coverage is awesome and anyone that loves sports should try NRL for one week.
Awful
The worst-designed, most unreliable App in the App Store. For the extremely expensive price it is simply not worth it.
Great 99% of the time
This app has been great for years. However these last 2 weeks it has been crashing every 5 minutes. I’ve had issues watching all of round 4 & 5 games this year. After several minutes the screen pauses and the commentary continues in the background. If you do manage to get it to catch up, it then starts the commentary from the beginning and doubles the length of the video, which is problematic as when you go back in to it it can jump you to the end and ruin the final score. Please help.
MH
This app is terrible for 2 reasons. 1. The score is shown after full time during the post match coverage, and there is no option to select ‘play from beginning’ or ‘play from live’. This leaves you guessing as to when the post match show is over so the score isn’t ruined. 2. The time slider at the bottom of the screen is tiny for smartphone users. This means the slightest movement can shift the match time overs 10s of minutes. This results in unintentional skipping ahead which also ruins the game.
Fix orientation issues
Please please please fix the orientation issues with this app. This service costs a lot of money and it shouldnt be so hard to watch a video in landscape on a phone
Great!
Purchased for my footy mad husband who couldn't possibly miss a game while we were on holiday overseas! Very easy to use. He forgot to cancel the subscription when we returned to Australia. Contacted Fox Sports and they were very understanding and issued a refund. Thanks!
Terrible app
While I was overseas I subscribed to watch state of origin. It would not let me access the content saying I was in Australia (while I was in Thailand) so I cancelled my account. To my surprise they have continued to charge me and when I contacted them about this I have heard nothing. I can’t even log into my account anymore to cancel this. Terrible service do not use !
iPhone XS
Not sure why the games don’t fit the full screen on iPhone X and XS quite annoying for the money payed.
Unreliable
Trying to grow the game overseas, far too expensive.
Chromecast update necessary!
Why is there no option that allows me to stream the game from my phone to the TV??? Seems a little backwards considering most, if not all, streaming services offer that now and have for a while. For the high yearly cost (and only being able to use it for 7 months of the year) it seems a bit ridiculous that I am only able to watch games on my phone. Needs to be updated immediately!
Brilliant app for UK NRL fans
After initial problems casting to the tv I have found it works perfectly with Samsung smart tvs. Stream quality is flawless and no buffering . Would recommend to anyone.
Be transparent about costs!
Not sure how the App Store allows it to display zero information about pricing. Don’t make me download & install BEFORE you tell me the price!
Scrolling
The app is great but it would be even better if it was possible to scroll through a game (on the iphone version of the app)
Good when it works
You have access to so many shows and games it amazing but the quality of this app is very poor. It regularly drops out of a game and you have to start over again. It never remembers where you are when you press pause & leave the app & return back. Further the time it takes to have replays available are very inconsistent, ranging from an hour to a over a day
Subtitles
How do I turn off the subtitles - updated for the 24 season and cannot turn off. Very annoying
Great for travelling
Glad I can keep up with my team when travelling overseas for work. The refreshed look is fantastic
Terrible
Works in Spain the a week later in France does not work and thinks I am in Australia or nz
Great app
This is a fantastic app for watching NRL outside of Australia, can watch all the games live and on demand, includes all the fox league shows, yep it’s great. If they could add support for instant playback and pausing of downloaded videos the exact same as streaming videos it would be perfect.
Better after refresh, BUT…..
The app looks a lot better since it’s refresh but there is still an issue with the tv guide. Now it’s not showing any timings so I don’t actually know what time the programmes are on, only that they ARE on. Last week, the tv guide was blank and now there are no times!! Please fix!
Doesn’t do what it is supposed to do
The app looks savvy but travelling from Australia using Optus sim it thinks I’m still in Australia and won’t stream using 4G in Greece. Error says “content not available in Australia” or similar. It does work well using wifi from a hotel. This bug needs to be fixed.
Works Perfectly Overseas
Watch Each Penrith Game / Origin and of course the Grand Final. Heading back to London again and will re subscibe.
Could be so much better
App is poor. Struggles to work or load on alot of occasions. When working the content and games are great, but the inconsistency is really annoying for an expat NRL fan
Pretty decent
Pretty decent app, using it from Canada, sure it’s awesome to watch every game live and all the other footy shows but it does sometimes stop mid game saying there’s an error, other then that it’s perfect.
Content is great - interface and reliability is terrible
Interface and reliability is terrible. Has not changed for years so obviously no effort to develop and improve. Only currently using as only option for content in my country. Actively looking for other alternatives. If user interface issues were fixed, I’d have no problem with the app
Update the app!
The iPad app is out of date, making it difficult to scroll ahead or behind in the telecast, live or on demand.
NRL
I have loved watching NRL in uk this app is amazing now I don’t always have to beg my dad to take me to Australia to watch the sharks or roosters.it’s a great app if you like rugby league.
Does not work in Timor Leste
I’ve tried to make this fraudulent app work on 3 different devices, unsuccessfully. I live in Timor Leste, so this app should work here. The app allows me to watch old games but if I try to watch a live game it just says “content asset not available”. I want my subscription fee back. Surely the app developers can see the amount of 1 star reviews this app is getting and then FIX THE APP!!!!!
Ff and rewind
This app has saved my nrl addiction life! Living overseas for a year has made it difficult to support my NQ Cowboys. However, app could really do with plus and minus 15 seconds buttons. Rewinding is almost impossible. I really want to rewatch tackles so know buttons would be excellent.
Surely it’s time for an update!
I can’t complain about the content. But it’s hard to even know where to start with the app and the desktop experience. It hasn’t been touched from day one and it was out of date then! It is a very pricey streaming service that is the only option available. Is there any plans to improve the app and desktop? 🤔
Shame
I don’t like that I’m unable to search for what I’m looking for. What’s the point.
NRL Ap
So far very good Easy to install Used both Apple TV and Chromecast and worked well After two years my experience is as long as internet connection is good the ap is excellent
Terrible product - even worse customer service
I was initially thrilled to find this service whilst travelling in the US as it allowed me to watch the roosters and storm in the prelim final. Like others I did find the platform crashed several times during the game but I was just happy to be able to watch it. What I hadn’t realised is that they keep charging you $28 a week (auto renewal). On realising this I reached out to their customer service to ask if they would refund the additional weeks - after all you can’t even watch it in Australia and they would be able to see I used it once. However they keep insisting there’s nothing they can do - which is clearly incorrect, they could refund the money but they decide not to. I see a lot of our other negative comments and if you treat people like this your never going to be around for the long term.
Score and timer
Only issue I have is when you go in landscape mode the screen isn’t aligned so the score and timer are cut off slightly. Can’t tell the difference between 6 and 8 😂 other than that can’t fault the app. Love the download feature as well!
Shameful
For the amount they charge the least you can expect would be for the damn thing to work properly. Get your act together NRL and employ some decent software engineers.
As other reviewers have said - superb, when it works...
I have the same issues as other reviewers have. When this app works, it is superb - enabling me to watch one of my favourite sports (particularly since the amount of TV coverage in the UK has been drastically reduced, meaning that more often than not a match I wish to see is not on live TV). However, this morning the app crashed whilst connected from my iPad Air 2 (running iOS 11.4) to my Apple TV, just as the Canterbury v South Sydney match was about to start. I then got a message ‘Unable to connect to Apple TV’ - restarting both Apple TV and the app did not work. Although I was able to view the coverage on my iPad, the option to connect to Apple TV has disappeared. I have been able to install the Watch NRL app from Apple TV’s own App Store and am now viewing the match coverage without issue - but am wondering what has happened to Apple TV connectivity when trying to watch via Apple TV from the iPad app.
Awesome App for overseas
App works well, have used for 2 years now. I can't see the NRL Nines games yet, is there an update coming for this?
Won’t tell you if they are going to geo lock before subscribing
The app or website will not tell you if they are going to geoblock you while on the website or app before subscribing. Everything will work right up until the moment you attempt to start a stream after you have already paid. Only then will they tell you you’re geoblocked. Support will then be unresponsive. Utterly shockingly terrible user experience. No chance of my money in the future. VPN.
Good app but live and airplay connectivity are temperamental
It’s absolutely brilliant to be able to watch NRL in the U.K. there is so much choice especially with the additional shows. The only technical downsides 1)Performance of live game streaming, which even with super fast connectivity it occasionally skips and then starts loading shows I’d previously watched, annoying! 2) Responsiveness of the app when used within iPhone and connected via AirPlay.
App crashes
App works most of the time I n iPhone but won’t launch on Apple TV or iPad . Pretty useless considering what the cost is . Keeps crashing on iPhone
Brilliant when it works, a nightmare when it doesn’t!
I echo what a few other reviewers have already mentioned in that live channel watching can be infuriating as it skips or suddenly switches to a random game in the middle of the 1st half when I’m trying to watch 360! Quite a few bugs overall including AppleTV/AirPlay playback being particularly problematic, especially when you’re up early to watch your team live and you spend 15 minutes trying to get it all working without crashing! For £120 for the season I’ll be asking for a partial refund very soon if things don’t improve!
Wonderful Coverage
Great coverage of all games and other programs. Use to watch games not on Sky. Fantastic sports app.
Very, Very Poor App
This app is very poor, especially when you consider the huge company behind it and the price that consumers pay for it. I don’t know why, when you want to watch a replay you have to go through so much other stuff first, like The Footy Show. On multiple occassions the final score gets shown before you get to the match. It’s simply not good enough. But I suppose for overseas customers there is no alternative so why bother investing? They get their money anyway.
Fantastic
Great to finally watch NRL in the UK. However the half time and full time analysis get cut from catch up, would love for it to be kept in the catch up videos. That’s the only negative I have.
Not bad but plenty to improve
It’s great to be able to watch the NRL overseas, so thank you, but the app has some painful parts to it. One thing that surely is easy to fix is the time tracker at the bottom and fast forward/rewind ‘buttons’. Using it online they’re great, they are large and it’s easy to use the slider to move forward or back and the forward and rewind work! In the app they’re all so tiny it’s extremely hard to even get the slider to register you’re touching it and you may as well not have the forward/rewind as they never work. Whenever I press the forward one it actually will revert back slightly so it just repeats what I just heard 🤦🏻♂️. Is it possible to just use the setup used online in the app??
Good App - but ...
I bought the subscription because they offer a download option to watch games offline. However, often the download service doesn’t work and you just get an error saying “Asset Not Available” even the day after the match. The streaming otherwise is good quality.
Fantastic
All NRL games, late show, NRL 360 plus others. Great value for any fan of Rugby League.
Doesn’t work if using Australian SIM card
App will think your in Australia if your roaming on an Australian SIM card and not let you view content. So you have to use a VPN or wifi to stream.. 👎👎👎
Unreliable
Far too clunky and needs sorting out. Press ‘play from start’ whilst a match is still on and, hey presto, the app takes you straight to the live game so you see the score! No ability to fast forward or rewind. We’ve reached the best weekends of the season ie the finals and the app is more unreliable than ever. A real let down considering the quality of the competition we’re trying to watch. Sort this out please!
Great for recorded progs, terrible live
The Fox League offering is superb - all NRL games live plus some reserve grade too. Also all other programs, except super league, are shown too. If you want to watch these games/programs on delay then the app works perfectly. However watching the channel live is a frustrating trial. You end up getting up at 4am to watch a match and then the action continuously skips backwards then forwards a minute throughout the game making it unwatchable. On several occasions it has even skipped back to a previous program altogether! If this bug gets sorted out I’d give the app 5 stars.
