Almost perfect

App freezes
App freezes during the speech portion of the classes. Not worth it if the app freezes Made an appointment with Ling to give feedback back and never received a email for the meeting after making calendly appointment. Horrible customer service. Will not was time with this APP
Cute monkey
I really love this app and how cute the monkey is. The only thing is I’m twelve and it’s kinda hard to learn at such a fast paise. I really like it tho. It makes learning Thai a lot more fun than some of the other apps. Anyway it would be great if they slowed down the pace a little (lot🙈)
Updates mess up streaks
Not only do the updates reset your streaks more often than not, but sometimes forced updates literally make the app unusable. I was doing a lesson and then the app forced me to update. After update, there is just the jumping monkey screen on infinite rewind. App is entirely unusable. I pay for a subscription and yet they break it for me.

I personally really like this app and I think the Ling monkey is adorable but I feel like it moves way too fast for me and I don’t like that that streak saver never works for me because there are days where I get really busy and don’t have time to do my lesson and it makes me really upset because I hate restarting streaks. i’m already on section 2, and I feel like I haven’t really picked up anything because it moves too fast for me :(
Flash Cards for the win!!
As a paying customer, I am really proud of the changes that have been made to this app. It keeps getting better and better. The ability to shuffle the flash cards is a MASSIVE improvement!! That will DRASTICALLY improve my ability to memorize the words. I do wish that ALL the new words made it to the review, and not just the words highlighted in the lessons. Keep up the good work!!
Good but not good
i got the app expecting to be able to learn thai for FREE like duolingo. but i dont want to pay for it, i want a good education that doesnt require me to have to pay for it. that might be a little you know, but i was just disappointed. especially because i was all hyped up for it and i love learning languages. so yeah.

Very frustrating app
This app has two serious problems. 1). They keep updating the content. So, if one has completed early lessons, the vocabulary will change and it’s no longer valid. Just imagine how frustrating it is to need to continually go back and repeat all previous lessons just to pickup those few words in order to be able to do other lessons. 2). The number of grammatical errors in the app seem to be increasing with each update. If these are the errors in English, how reliable is the Thai? I don’t want to spend time learning a language incorrectly
Paid learning
I like the layout of this app but having to pay for the most important things to learn in a language is really a turn-off if I should say. Maybe only have paid for like advanced level stuff👍🏼

Useful but sometimes inconsistent
I’m specifically using this app to improve my reading comprehension. However, when using the app, there is inconsistency in the romanization of some of the tones not truly matching the writing rules (consonant class + live/dead syllables) but offers the real-world pronunciation of the words. So some words may “technically” be romanized wrong but “practically” correct. I honestly don’t know how to best proceed with that. But sometimes they do the opposite, like write and say the technical term “ สบายดีไหม“ for formal/written settings but 99% in spoken casual Thai it’s more like “ สบายดีมั้ย” . I’d also like the male-speaker option as well when it comes to phrases and speech-recognition because I’m building patterns and behaviors that I would not use in a real-world setting. I think this is a good app but could use some fine-tuning or explanations between technical and practical pronunciation. But please make a male-speaker option!

Quite disappointing
I don’t really love this app because it doesn’t really teach you anything. It just gives you the words and hope you memorize them for the exercise exercises later. Although I do like the variety of languages provided on this app, I cannot recommend this app to others.
Please update for iPad landscape orientation
The app content is great and I would use it more, but I only have an iPad, and the app layout is not yet responsive to devices other than iPhones. Usually not a problem on an iPad if you’re in portrait orientation but in in lanscape orientation the app keeps the portrait orientation instead updating the layout to landscape. This would be a very appreciated UX/UI improvement.
Be aware of auto renewal
Found this slightly useful, more basic than Duolingo, but sadly struggled to be able to save words I didn’t know to practise without having to go through full lesson. Additionally once I had finished using it, I deleted and assumed my payment was a one off, not seeing any option for cancelling. I then get a charge for a new year’s subscription which I can not cancel and have to ‘reactivate’ my account, but by taking the money my account is active still. Feel very cheated by this so be aware and check cancelled if finishing with product.

really good ! this app has helped me learn new words and correct my pronounciation. kop khun ling, i’m not originally from Thailand but from a hispanic country which what i’m trying to say is that the language is very different. but yet my thai is getting better with this app. 100% reccomend.

love this app!!
the only issue i have with it is the voice lessons. before it was no problem, but now every time i try do a lesson, it won’t record my voice. my microphone access is on as well and like i said before this just started & i had recently just bought a subscription which makes me a bit upset. i hope its some bug that will get fixed!!
Can’t set user gender
Can’t set user gender, so it’s teaching me to say phrases and sentences as if I am a woman, which is embarrassing. I’d use and buy this if they can add this feature
How to change the tutorials for male speaker
This app is great! My only problem is it is teaching me Thai as if I am a woman and I see absolutely no way to change this. It’s really irritating. If there was a way to change the default from a female Thai speaker to a Male Thai speaker so that I am learning how to speak as a man and not a woman, I would give Ling 5 stars. If I’m missing something please let me know and I will be more than glad to change my review

Beware fake free trial
As above, I signed up for what I thought was a one-week free trial and instead the app immediately charged my credit card $80. Apple refunded the money but I did want to warn others of deceptive — or at best confusing — marketing.
Awesome app but…
Awesome app but I wish we could change the font size within the app and also change the voice teaching us the language. As a male, it would be nice to hear honorifics and phrases from a male perspective. Would make learning easier, I think.
Charged during free trial
The app said free to try for 7 days. I installed it and it popped up a payment screen. Thinking it was activating the trial I accepted, but a yearly subscription was taken from my credit card. The app seems ok after the first 5 minutes but not happy with it or with myself for going ahead with it.

Finally an app for me to learn Tagalog
Way more better than Duolingo I love it so much I'm so ritualizing my Tagalog learning for me to engage in a conversation with my family who are Filipino as well ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎
Beware of free trail
Downloaded the app to give it a try and prompted with a 7 day free trial which then asked for the billing afterwards (annually or monthly) because I chose monthly it charged me right away and no 7 day free trial. Apple will refuse to refund despite this being deceptive. I don’t mind paying if I liked the app to keep using it with pro features but I’ve essentially wasted 7 days waiting on apple and ling support and feel scammed.
Great
This app is great and the Thai practice is fantastic. That being said the writing section is not good. The good news is you can skip them and you don’t get trapped like the bird app so I’m still enjoying it. There is room for improvement but I can tell they are working on it.
app is designed for female speakers not males
i’m a male using this app and have been to ประเทศไทย its not much fun getting laughed at because you’re talking like a woman have asked ling and they say just change the female ฉัน. chǎn ค่ะ. kâ. to male ผม. pom ครับ kráp but it’s getting old

I am Thai but I never learned how to speak it and I love this app because it is so simple and I can already have a conversation with my family because of this app and the lessons are short so it will keep my attention and it makes me wanna do more lessons

I have renewed my contract one year and every time i get 40%in any part it goes white And l have to start again first year ok i sent message 10 Times no answer still same problem. So even thou i paid till next year august 2026 i canceled there service nothing very bad company 0

reset all progress
Very poor design where all your progress are wiped away in seconds. Clearly not professionally supported as none of the feedback is answered to. I paid the subscription but regretted very soon after using the app. Development of a quality product requires testing and proofing. LING people are clearly only interested in making a quick buck! Shame

I really love the app but the one thing I want to complain about is that you don’t get many lessons free and that is an issue because say if you can’t subscribe then you won’t be able to learn a lot.

Deceptive Trial
I went to do their 7 day trial as advertised and it automatically charged me for a full year. Super deceptive way to make money. Loop people in saying they can try it for free, then hit em with a big annual subscription bill.

good but…
I am so far mainly happy with this app, it teaches you slowly and you can always review back on what you have done. The only thing for me is it doesn’t teach you on word order very well. then when it comes to testing, you fail for not knowing how sentences are put. It mainly just teaches you words rather than fluency.

App stops making sound and displaying text during the first lesson, totally unusable.
Gender
Great app, but please make it so that I can learn as a male instead of a female, as it’s very confusing having to change what is written/said in my head.
Pay wall
I am half thai half Australian and wanted to learn thai my whole life. Dosent have thai on duolingo fsr so i found this app, fantastic app. Was going well learning basic thai, then the pay wall hit me after learning afew phrases. 170$ for a life time member ship? And 13$ a month like why? I cant continue at all and this is just disappointing
Good but not not ideal for beginners
Would give it more stars for the overall enjoyment of using this app but it’s driving me potty that it asks for my permission to access my microphone and I say yes but when I actually click on to “apps who have requested access to your microphone” Ling does not appear so I can’t do the talking part. Very frustrating. Also could really do of an alphabet lesson prior to just throwing you into learning words when you don’t actually know the alphabet.
