Help I’m being hunted
I skipped the subscribe button and I’m now using this app illegally in North Korea. This country bans this app and I’m currently being hunted but atleast I can find out the luminosity in my shack that costs more than my yearly income.
Don’t pay
Tried to use the 3 day free trial, did not work whatsoever. Reinstalled and tried to restore purchases but still could not use any paid features
Really useful
As a blind person I can now tell how light the room it is
Has a weird lowest-light-condition cap
In very dark situations (night time long exposure photography, for example) the meter stops measuring under what’s the equivalent of iso 400, f11, 8 seconds. In situations that require 60 second exposure for iso400, f11, it still gives 8 seconds. Could have been great, but unusable for my purpose because of this cap.
App
It’s an app
Alpha A9
Great
Wasting my time
Gave OK to charge my cc. Tried to set shutter speed and ISO using sliding scale, and I just got endless pop ups telling me about my subscription, but settings not saved. Why can’t it be simple? Don’t waste your time。
Okay
Use the back camera it works better.
Looks great, doesn’t work
Why do lumens only show up as the values 2 → 55 → 94 → 145 → 214 … with the actual number flickering around /- 3 for each? Try this experiment: move the spot along a brightness gradient. Or change your computer monitor brightness. You'll never see a number /- 3 away from those values. Tested it on 3 different iPhones. So if error margins < 50 lumens are unacceptable to you, avoid.
Amazing
So helpful
Used to be an exceptional app
This used to be an exceptional app. Had a light meter that told you the lumens for whatever area you aimed your camera at. Now they’ve changed it and it’s just a big mess that doesn’t do what I paid for. Just a bunch of junk I don’t need and no instructions on how to get the old light meter back. What a joke.
Reasonably good, unknown calibration
Apartment house has overly bright and quite different hall lights and I wished to measure them. It worked well for this. The cavaet that it should not be relied on means I can't report this to authorities with authority, but it's a start--we'll wait until those authorities question our calibrtation to report that.
Vague, lacks specificity
Am I supposed to multiply the FC # by 100? 1000? I doubt my 400 watt HPS grow light is putting out 290 FC at one foot away. 29,000 makes sense, but I shouldn’t have to assume….
Inaccurate max and average values
I used this app in the past with my students to measure lux averages in classrooms, but the updated version has a major glitch. When we make our measurements, the app makes an initial measurement that is WAY too high that spikes the Max value. That Max value then overweights the average Lux value that we’re trying to get. I’d love to see this glitch get fixed because it was such an easy to use app for us in the past.
Works amazing!
I tested this app side-by-side with my actual lux/par Meter and it was pretty well smack on keep up the good work guys
Wildly Innacurate
I’ve measured this on the same light source, in the same spot, with my phone held at the same angle..& I consistently get different values over & over again!
Great app
Works great. Simple and straightforward. There is a bug when it doesn’t read the values, to make it work just need to switch to front camera and back to rear. Add are annoying tho.
Confusing
Confusing app. I tried it a few times and now deleting it
Measures the light
Does what is meant to do, thanks for this app
Readings changed wildly with the exact same light
Under controlled conditions readings changed by 1000 over several readings taken in sequence
LightMeter
Good app
Junk
This app when installed will do nothing, there are others try them.
Seems good
But I don’t understand how it works without a diffuser. Another light meter app I tried said all light meters need a diffuser. Maybe this isn’t true. It would be nice to include a note in the help section to clarify this point. I do not know whom to believe, hence the 3-star rating. Will gladly update, if this issue is satisfactorally clarified.
Effective
Measures within reasonable error range
Inaccurate
I own the pro version and compared it with a professional stand alone (not app) light meter - the results were very different. It would be great if it could be calibrated.
Excellent
Really works
Not intuitive
Not enough help available for the novice user. For someone starting to learn about improving pictures it needs to be more user friendly. The help tab doesn’t work
Good
It good
Junk
This fails on all levels. Does not work. Don’t waste your money or time…:
Seems reasonable
Seems reasonable, app is ok, maybe the Pro version has more options, but I would think a save list with notes would be great.
Limited lux
Lux meter is limited to 1741 max.
Great app
Perfect app
Doesn’t work
I downloaded LUX and paid for it. It doesn’t work.
Inaccurate
It just doesn’t work. It is very in accurate and under lower light conditions doesn’t register anything at all. Also, there are no instructions, and if you click on help you get an error message.
Easy to use & a handy tool for Lumens
Checked lightbulb lumens successfully and you can too with this app. Front and rear camera choices and indoors and outdoors. Simple and just right. Darker areas with symbols (outdoors/rear) are choices and the star/gear-like symbol is for taking measurements. Enjoy!
Overpriced Garbage
Overpriced garbage, waste of money. Look for a different light meter app
Easy to use
Great little tool to help figure out the right light for house plants. Excellent except one point. Not sure why the reading for the exact same spot is a different for claiming it’s inside vs outside - surely the light is the same despite where its purported to be??
How to use
Not very helpful in app instructions
Super easy
This app is super easy to use and perfect for school!!!
Simply doesn’t work
I gave the app camera permissions and can see the green dot showing it’s accessing my camera, but it’s not providing me any readings in any unit. FWIW, I’m on an iPhone 14 Pro.
Useful.
The manual could I inform better on spectral issues. Eg what is the algorithm concerning inside/outside. Is it assuming lamp spectrum?
Pretty but Inexplicably Unsupported
I’ve emailed simple questions (pro member) twice over the last couple years without response. The support section in the app is completely blank. 1) Why would there be a separate setting to measure light indoor versus outdoor? Wouldn’t it stand to reason that you’d want the same sensitivity setting to make an accurate reading 2) Why isn’t there at least a brief explanation of what the settings are and how to properly use the app?
