Just Breathe
In this world part trash fire/part awe inspiring world, I can’t really summon up “just” type ease about much. I am grateful to anything anyone ever considered holy for tools and approaches to abiding and transcending- and that’s what this simple and “just right” app helps me do. The tone really does it for me and resting into the cadence of resonance breathing is a really worthy way to spend some time.
forced subscription??
opened the app, did one single breath, and then it played an animation saying a free trial has been activated?? i dont want a free trial! im never going to buy a subscription to this or any app because i dont have any money! just feels predatory like theyre going to start charging me after the “free trial” ends if i dont go out of my way to cancel. so they get money out of people who try it, dont like it, and delete the app. why is every piece of software anti-user now?? no soul, just cold extraction of funds, the endless financialisation of everything
Mixed results
On the iPad Air, the expansion and contraction of the orb/sphere is not in sync with the breath count. It’s not even close and makes the app unusable on it. Works on iPhone. So that’s good! The developer reached out and said they are working on it. Thanks!

Update broke audio cues
Update: the sound cues have been improved, though I'm not 100% certain they are back to how they originally were. There is a longer pause than I remember between the inhale and exhale. The latest update broke the audio cues. When you've got a hold of 0 - when you immediately exhale after inhaling - you need an audio cue telling you to slow down because the breath is about to change direction. These have been obliterated in the base breathing exercises. Moby's original cues aren't there anymore. (You don't need those cues when the hold isn't 0, but you do when it is.)
Not a fan of the new updates
This app was perfect in its previous form and I used it all the time. Unfortunately the recent changes don’t include an option to use the old version; it’s been replaced with three new options I do not like and cannot use for meditation. I find them all distracting, I don’t like the tone or sound. Why take away the thing that thousands of people have enjoyed for years? Very disappointing.
Could be better
For a year, I used the free version which right away worked very well. I liked it so much that I decided to pay for an upgrade so as to have more features available. And while the features are available (including setting different ratios for different energetic results, which is what I primarily wanted with the upgrade) the app is not at all user-friendly. For quite a hefty price, this app should navigate and flow much better than it does. I’m sure I will learn to navigate all its quirks, but out of the box it’s tricky, and I am not a stranger to using apps on my iPhone. I’m giving a three stars because it does what it says, but you will have to fiddle with it, and that’s frustrating. Developers, if you’re listening out there, please fix it!
Calming
This breathing app helps my mind slow down. It helps me calm down too. I appreciate this breathing app. The world is moving quickly in a wild direction. This app is needed more today than ever.
Update ruined the app
I used to be able to play the app in the background while I had an audiobook or music going. Now it won’t play in the background.

What happened?
I used to love this app! I used it all the time and it was simple and perfect. I don’t know when it changed but it’s such a down grade. The UI is awful. It was much better when it was free. It’s so clunky and unpleasant to use that I’m probably going to delete it. I don’t mind paying for a good app but there are much better options for the price. This one has kind of ruined itself
Easy to use
And does what it is supposed to. I would like some more variations and longer times available. And ideally would be nice if it synched to apple watch.
Helps me focus.
This app helps me focus on my breathing while I try to slow down and fill up my lungs properly with belly breathing. The time passes so quickly while I’m practicing. I use it to help my breathing and reduce my body’s stress response, but it’s also a great meditation tool.
subscription for a breathing app is too much
i liked it better when it was free. i’m going to find an app that’s more ethical in terms of services. even if i dont need the premium features, money farming like this is just wrong.

Good app, weird paywall
The concept is good and I’ve been using it, but sometimes I just need my inhale or exhale to be a second or so longer/shorter. Changing the breathing time more specifically beyond presets presents a paywall, which is a bit weird IMO. I guess they have to make money somehow, and that’s great for the people who can afford it, but if you’re broke and just trying to relax like me a quick app store search will find you a few options with no in-app purchases
$5/month for what used to be a great free app
Would be 5 stars except for the new update and the subscription model. I get that monetization helps to support developers, and I want to do that. But $5/month is obscene for a glorified timer. This app should be a $5 one time purchase at best.

Simple to use, no unnecessary extras. Use it daily.
New update
The audacity of adding a SUBSCRIPTION on a video of a ball that gets bigger and smaller is insane. Pisses me off. The greed is disgusting. I’m a long time user of this app. It’s been a great tool for managing anxiety. There’s nothing to pay for here. Don’t waste your money. Just screen record a YouTube video or something.
Defrazzling
I use the resonance breathing two or three times a day as a quick reset. Have recommended it to many people.. My only gripe is with the new sound – before it was a relaxing and resonant tone; now it sounds like a fog horn. Please go back to the lovely original.
buggy
this is my favorite breathing app. i use it almost every morning. now: -app does not work in the background (closed app or closed phone) -app does not work with bluetooth. it just doesn’t play sound when connected to my JBL speaker.
1 step forward 2 steps back
I loved the app the way it was. Pros: 1. Nice Interface 2. More options for different breathing techniques Cons: 1. The app doesn’t run in the background like it use to. So when you lock your phone or switch apps the session terminates. 2. The default time limit of 30 minutes on 6/6 breathing was free, now there’s a paywall if you want a session longer than 20 minutes. I really loved this app, the cost of $5/month is a bit high imo. I believe a better price point would be $24/year. If you fix atleast the 1st con I’m willing to stay on this app.

What happened?
The ball is just a white circle now, the ratios are all wrong. Used to be simple and perfect.

Ability to set intervals, simple and effective with the sound and ball to guide you. Would love a companion Apple Watch app too.
It was awesome until it got broken with the latest update.
After the latest update, the app stopped playing sound after locking the screen. Before the update, everything was fine and the sound played in the background.
Good & simple app
Good & simple to use app. I am not sure where the vibration option as since I can’t see the circle growing & shrinking when I meditate. Also I think users should be able to adjust seconds for inhale & exhale on their own as well. The breathing pattern I am trying to follow is not listed in the given options. Just right
With a busy life finding moments to reconnect with my breath are so important. I found this app through listening to an interview with Elena Brower and the maker of this app and download it immediately. I am using it while I do my zazen practices to improve my breathing and it has been truly great! Intake breaks through the day and just breath for a couple of minutes instead of doom scrolling. It’s been a very positive change for my mental wellbeing.
Why did you ruin the app?
I’ve used this app for YEARS, it was simple and free. They removed basic features and charge $44/year to get them back. No thanks. The UI is confusing, with the “< >” settings, good luck figuring out what to do. *edit to reply to dev* no long can I change the in/exhale values, they’re locked to your choices. It’s almost like you did no user testing (w/ the “tap <>…” and “set ball/night” what’s that even mean?). I see other reviewers feel the same, I even emailed to ask for the old app. No reply.
Preferred the app as it was
What I loved about this app was its simplicity, and that I could lock the screen down and just listen. Grateful that the audio hasn’t changed but it now only works with the screen on. Not so useful or discrete.
No Background Play ):
Previous version of the app would play the tones in the background, meaning i could close the app/lock my screen or overlay my own music while hearing the guided breathing tone. Small feature that i really enjoyed and if it does not return then the app will feel much less seamless with how i actually use it.
Keeps getting stuck
Great app, I was using it daily to help control anxiety I often wake up with. Few times now, I open the app and can’t get it to play- the play symbol doesn’t appear, just the backgrounds. My software is up to date. I tried restarting my phone but it’s still the same... very frustrating as I’ve come to rely on it now, and like this morning, woke up earlier to do it but I’m unable to (which adds to my anxiety). Now instead of waking up thinking- I’ll do some breathing, I think: will it work. Fix it please as I’d like to continue.
Sound change
I have been using this app for a few months now and loved it, the tone was perfect, much lower than others so it wasn’t annoying to listen to. Is there a way to get that low tone back? The current tone is slightly higher in pitch and very twangy making it not calming at all.
Why mess with perfection?
This app is terrible now since the update, you used to be able to use the app in the background while music or videos were playing - even when the device is asleep. Now that feature is gone and there’s a weird pause between all the breaths, the breath ball is also glitchy and doesn’t sync up with the audio. This was the perfect app for breathing exercise and some goofball decided to mess with it and failed miserably.

The update is great, but I kinda miss the old night sky with the mountain . Oh well. Keep up with the good work!
Fine, but
The App is fine in general. Easy to set up and use. First couple of times...when you remember about it =) There is no reminder functionality in the App. For me it means that I will forget about that due to a busy lifestyle. Some alternative Apps have that functionality though. It would be nice to see a progress of your breathing sessions or some stats as well. A kind of historical performance. Design is quite simple which is good, but I don't really like info page. I mean it looks quite outdated and there is soooo much text, which you don't want to read, but you have to to understand how it works. Really like the idea of the circle. Totally a visual win for a breathing App.
Hopeful
Love this app and the spirit behind it. Breathing is life. I am using the free version. I would pay for the app if it were a onetime lifetime fee of $50, if that is up for consideration. Thanks.
This update has ruined it
You’ve ruined it. 30 mins plus is now behind a paywall? It now won’t continue to play in the background behind other apps? You had something so great and you’ve taken its soul out stomped on it and set fire to the corpse.
Please add breath holds
I was hoping to do “box-breathing” with this app, meaning the 4:4 ratio with 4-second pauses added between each inhale and exhale. There are other apps for this, but they aren’t nearly as nice to use on my iPad.
Love it — keep expanding
I’ve been using this app for breathing with the sphere for years and it really works for me. I just discovered Yin and Yang on Resonance 5:5 and would love to see that idea expanded to other choices like Calm and Energize.
Cracking sound
Love the app. It’s almost perfect! Unfortunately it crackles on the 6:6 inhale. Means I stick to 5:5 as am anticipating the sound at the slower level. Will update my review if this changes.
