No longer shows upcoming visits
After updating the app in no longer shows the upcoming visits? This was extremely useful as I could contact the carer who was scheduled to visit my mother, and tell them not to come if she was at the hospital.

This app doesn’t record all my travel time and mileage!

Fabulous app but having problems with photo upload at the min very glitchy I’m using iPhone fully updated iOS
USES ALL DATA
the app itself is a good app and it’s very easy to use. HOWEVER, it has used all my data up whilst using the app and therefore I wouldn’t recommend this app!
Improvement needed
Good idea essentially but would be great if it could be a two way communication tool. Rather than just reporting
Great peace of mind
The care company invited me to use this app so I could see what was happening with a relatives care. Firstly, it’s great for the care company to demonstrate that visits are taking place. I can also see the quality of the updates and the interaction that takes place. This allows me to put calls into the GP or other services so we can maximise my relatives stay in her own home, something she really desires. Stating start and finish times give me comfort that she is safely indoors and the ability to share a photo has been invaluable twice now. Great app for relatives to keep informed on the wellbeing of their loved ones.
Worst recent update
I’ve been using birdie for over 10 months now and it’s been okay but the recent update is so annoying, unnecessary and frustrating. I’ll be trying to login to my visit but the app would just be stagnant. It’s been like that since I updated it. It takes like 5 minutes before the app comes up again after closing and opening the app like 3/4 times. So annoying

Find birdie very helpful but would find it easier if once I had signed in I didn’t have to keep signing in
Useful for families to check but missing feedback capability
My mum’s carers use this app and for the most part the ability as a family member to see the carers reports after each visit is excellent. It is missing the ability for carers to ask family members questions or vice versa. It would be really useful to be able to communicate with the carers using the app regarding their findings rather than resort to phoning the office. Examples could be changes to meds or treatment, temporary changes to schedule etc.

Could be much better
As a client I can only see the start time of my visit , not the end time. My visit length varies so it’s really important to know it’s booked correctly. Also it would be useful to see more visits than just 3 ahead.

Good app but draining
A good app, better than most I’ve used in the care sector. Since latest update though, colleagues and I have found it seems to be very draining on the device battery, more than twice as much which isn’t ideal if you’re out working all day! More functionality isn’t always functional!

Doesn’t work after latest iPhone update
After the most recent iOS update a few days ago, the icon of the app is still there but nothing happens, all content has vanished- just a flat icon is all that’s left. There’s no option to update or refresh the app. Please do something about it!
Useful but incomplete
Really useful tool, but 1. needs improvement of the categories, like differentiation between tasks like “food “ and “fluids”, which now are defined “prepare a meal with fluids”, because they are not always required together as one task. Should be different tasks for “ensuring fluids are available”, and “food preparation if needed”. 2. Medication is part of the main tasks now, that is fine, but to access and check the medication category itself, I have now to click on the PRN rubric, if there’s no medication administration task for my call, and from there click on the main medication. Should be accessible straight from the main menu. 3. There should be a messaging rubric with the office to allow the carers to inform promptly about any change of the clients’ needs, new tasks, materials, equipment and medication required or no longer needed, so changes can be checked and applied real-time. Now I have to take time from the call or from my own time after the call is completed, to call the office and inform about the changes needed to the care plan, as well as changes in medication and other issues, and at some point the changes will be eventually completed and clients’ needs met. Our care plans and tasks at the moment are not updated as promptly as needed to be effective. We need more real-time interaction, to be more efficient. A real-time messaging option through Birdie is important also to communicate with families and relatives too, if we need help with housekeeping or shopping and other activities. Saves time for the office people and it’s really helpful to be effective in meeting our clients’ needs.

Very poor, frequent outages
Keep getting ‘access restricted’ messages and can’t check on visits. Re-logging in doesn’t help. Pretty useless.
Good overall with some minor issues.
Very good app compared to the one we used before. Just a few issues that I have noticed. Firstly, you can only see who you are working with on the day you’re working, which makes it quite hard to communicate with the other carer if you’re trying to plan ahead the day before. The other problem is that when you do see who you’re working with, it doesn’t give you the option to ring them or get their phone number. Lastly, when asked to enter your 4 digit code, you can just swipe right from the left of the screen to make it disappear, which isn’t very safe. Overall good app tho 👍🏽

Birdie Is easy to use and navigate. I don’t know how to improve it but dictation isn’t so good I find myself going back and rereading what I’ve said and correcting so would be easier to text but slower.

I think it’s a great way for making sure they service users get their needs met, nothing gets missed using the tasks on the app and being able to read the previous couple of days notes to keep up with any changes that may have happened is a great help.

You change text size to very very small after update. Please change your text size to normal
Overall good but can add other features
The birdie app is very good but they can features like time alarm (timer) to let carer know that their time is up with their current client. It is very add to be taking care of people and also watching the time you have left. Also, they should be a feature that also carer to make amends to their report after maybe 24 hours. Sometime I make mistake and when I want to fix it, I just can’t and it is very annoying knowing, I did the right job but when my agency sees the report, they might think I did a bad job or maybe I am not capable of not handling multiple clients.

Must Read! - Before Choosing Care System
As a Registered Manager, and agency point of view I’ve had exposure to Birdie by over 40 different care providers. 1. Birdies - Emergency Phone Line - Never gets answered, my staff, coordinators and I myself have tried to contact on multiple occasions. Never had an answer. 2. Birdie email and in app support agents have never used the Birdie system, agents advised that care staff need to be deleted from other care providers Birdie systems to use Birdie with another provider. Which is incorrect - there is a ‘switch agency’ button for this reason. - I’m constantly advising care coordinators and care managers of this. 3. Communication with ‘partnerships managers’ or anyone at Birdie is non existent. I emailed a partnership manager on 21/03/23 advising that care staff couldn’t gain access to the system, I emailed Again on 27/03/23 - I still haven’t had a reply. Emailed a customer service member of staff 3 days ago, just emailed them again.

Since this app is so in fashion in the care industry right now, I suggest the developers of this app add on something that shows and calculates how many hours we’ve worked since we’ve started using the app. We can’t go back to check what shifts/hours we have done. It’s okay for our companies to make us use this app and the only perks of this app are the fact that families/next of kin can see what’s happening and keep up to date with everything, as for the carers. Nothing. The least you can do is add on this function for our hours.
