Low cost boost
Works great, good app and interface. I’ve been asked if this will do fuel mapping and stage two mods. No, it doesn’t replace a $2k programmable ecu with wideband. It does allow you to have fun adding a bit more kick to your bmw. Product works perfect for the price.
Destroying my confidence
This app is so awful, as so many others have said, it is destroying my confidence in Dinan
New layout is nice
I like the new layout however the graphics don’t update when I select a new mode
Awful
This is pretty bad, drops the tune and doesn’t always connect to right engine code
App doesn’t connect anymore
App version prior worked wonderfully now new version 1.6 does not connect nor do I get a UI? Diantronics sport module is working and getting power but app no longer finds it via Bluetooth. Help. Thanks.
AMAZING
Installed the tune on my bmw (very easy) and downloaded the app. App works great and very noticeable results
Not compatible with iPhone 14 or newer
Dinan is working on a newer version of this app but for now it is not able to connect.
Insufficient directions to terrible app
Dinan sells incredible upgrades that enhance BMWs and make them even better. Why on earth would they find it so hard to properly program IOS software and develop actual instructions for a better customer experience? This software does not do this product justice, and the poor execution of programming it and explaining it to Dinan customers would make most people think twice about purchasing this product over a similar tuner. The product seems to work well on my 228i. I just can’t always tell you why I select the functions I do, or why it sometimes allows me to change things, and other times I have to restart the software. The only plus is that once a mode is selected, it does not change on the tuner until another is accepted.
Kinda ridiculous for a $900 tuner...
$900 later my elite tuner is installed and this app to go with is a joke. Awful UI, no boost gauge, no features from any of the most recent 5 iOS updates, etc. Siri functionality would be cool, especially for cars with CarPlay as the settings could be adjusted without opening the app. The money made off of my purchase alone could pay for someone to completely overhaul the app. At the very least make the application’s source code available to the public so we can make our own custom apps to control the tuner/display boost. 3 stars because it does do what it claims it does, I just think there is significant room for growth and improvement.
Simple and works
I don’t understand why this app gets so many bad reviews, perhaps it’s because they are slow to update the app when there is an iOS update? It’s a simple way to get a few extra horsepower and changing the map is very easy I don’t really have any complaints. Safe on the car never any check engine lights much safer than MHD tuner which I have had in the past and made my engine run poorly.
App is complete JUNK!
Wow, if dinan doesn’t give any importance on its app, what does it do with its tunes?
Update App
Recently came from a GTI with APR tune. Now that APR and Dinan are working together I was hoping for a better app for the sport tuner N20 motor. I question if the vehicle is actually faster or not. App Alone makes me think about giving bootmod3 a try. I Hope the app is getting worked on.
App gets worse
The boost gauges are gone and there is no real positive indication as to whether the module has excepted the setting. This app seems to have few were features with every release. You are going in the wrong direction it should be getting better and it should be as good as everything else that your company does. Dinan is better than this.
Works flawlessly on my F32
Super easy install, app bluetooth found it immediately and everything works as it should, set it to race mode as I exclusively use 94 octane, for a daily driver, this is a great mod.
James Brady App Experience
Trash at best! As I read reviews on multiple distributors websites and forums, this app is in disparate need of an update for several years now! It takes away from the full experience of the unit. For most, they have bluetooth connection issues like myself on current ios and android devices. Where I come from that’s called not getting everything you paid for! Very disappointing Dinan, we as consumers expect more from a company of your magnitude and longevity to just turn away and ignore this and do nothing. Especially when there’s so many other developing companies with a similar unit!
Horrible app
This app sometimes works. Forget about seeing boost levels. Forget about easily changing between modes. I was pretty surprised really. I heard the original release was bad, this hasn’t gotten any better. I think my car is in sport plus?
New layout bugs?
Just updated to the new layout. It looks ok, but there’s no visual indicator of what mode I’m in. I just have to hope the program is working.
Boost gauge why it does not pop up
Why is there no boost gauge ? But android still has a boost gauge
Dinan should be ashamed honestly
You’d think a company so reputable and so amazing would not let some crappy app stop their customers but it’s yet to be addressed or even remotely fixed , the app does not show a boost gauge for one, two it does not give you 30-50 additional horsepower , so all in all the app is garbage and dinan doesn’t seem to care to address the hundreds of horrible reviews about that , and they false advertise to get you to spend 300 bucks. I’ve emailed dinan several times and to my not so shocked state…. No reply . You’re leading your company towards rock bottom guys.. fix the app or make changes for god sake
F56
Can we get some love for the Mini’s that use the same hardware, but can’t utilize the app. Wya with these updates Dinan?
Great app but....
Well the app was great until they updated it now you can’t see the boost gauge when driving.
Absolutely horrid app
Bought a Dinan Tuner for my F10. App doesn't even recognize the tuner and support basically said your iPhone might not be compatible. Thanks.
Dinan sport app
Sad to say but a great product without a good tool to manage options is not what is customers want. I hope Dinan realizes the importance of this app and does what is needed to fixit. José
Changes Tune on its own! FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!
The application changes tunes on its own to Valet mode. The application does not let the driver know what tune they are in. Dinan does not seem to care what the application does as long as they sell products to the customers. As long as they fleece the customers. I will be reaching out to the AG office to report the company for selling worthless products. I have filed a BBB complaint as well. Dinan needs to know if they sell products to customers they must sell products that actually work or they will be reported.
Dinan is this the best you can do?
I wasn’t solely focused on the app as being a part of my buying decision. Dinan reputation, history with BMW and the affordability of the solution carried more weight for me. But when the app is so closely aligned with hardware functionality, Dinan customers, and its reputation as an innovator deserve better. If this was my first experience with them I can say that I would be hesitant to give them any additional chances. The DINANTRONICS Sport module is like the restaurant that has amazing food but unfortunately the app is the dirty unkept restroom. Clean it up Dinan and provide us with something befitting of the engineering heritage that provides the brand loyalty great organizations rely on.***App UI is buggy. Couldn’t get the gauge to ever appear even after a hard close of the app and uninstall/reinstall. Allowed me to change the driver settings but couldn’t refresh it. After identifying my vehicle type it wouldn’t accept and move to next screen. Had to hard close and start the process over. I didn’t have extremely high expectations of the app but they can’t align hardware functionality so closely to something so poorly developed.***
Stopped working
Haven’t used the app in a while. Launched it the other day to check if boost level is still where I left it last and discovered the app doesn’t work anymore. iOS 15.2. All I see is a blank screen showing “count: 0” and toggle between “scan” and “stop”.
No gauge?!?
App is basically useless other than to change the setting of the dinantronics sport module.
The app is garbage
Dinan with no doubt lives out to its name, and the tunes are great, but the App is horrible, super buggy and constantly disconnects from the tune device, and it starts messing up with you want the change the different modes you want to use the tune on, also does not let you chose a mode while you want see the psi gauge for your turbos. I feel like dinan needs to fix the all if they are going to charge the amount they do for their products.
Where’s my boost gauge?
Where’s my boost gauge? Where’s my boost gauge? Where’s my boost gauge?
App Can’t find Bluetooth
App no longer works with newest update. It doesn’t find my sport module via Bluetooth. List shows a blank white screen. Please fix this ASAP.
Somewhat works
I only recommend to a certain extent. It’s a good starter tuner for anyone wanting to go the cheap route but definitely not the best either. I bought mine about a month ago and installed it but it’s had a few problems. For one, the boost gauge doesn’t work in the app, you can’t really feel any power difference and also the turbo lag for a base B38 F56 Mini is much worse than factory. Also, it threw a Drivetrain Malfunction warning due to the tune itself only because it adds boost. It doesn’t mess with anything else. This was a problem before with the Elite tuner apparently but that’s been resolved. What was going on was that the car wasn’t wanting to take the time because I’ve been told that it could have mixed numbers up in areas it shouldn’t have. Do I recommend it? Only if you’re looking at making your car quick on a budget, but if money isn’t an issue go with the Elite.
