My fire service
I joined Rough and Ready VFD California in 1972 something I always wanted to do. Worked my way up to Chief. We added a Medical response unit (retired navy ambulance). Them my job changed routes to the foothill’s up highway 49 in central California. The we moved up to Sierra City Ca. Left my Granny Goose route job. Bought Bassett’s Station. Sierra City VFD needed a chief so I filled the billet. Much experience in both departments structure, wildland fires,medical calls. Sold business moved up to NE Oregon. Hired on with contract wildland fire fighting company, Contract Water Wagons and worked that for 5 years as truck boss. Then retired down to CENTRAL TEXAS. All was a love in helping people.

I like it but…
When I try to zoom in everything is blurry, and you can’t see anything it does not download the maps.
Great app but crashes sometimes
This was a wonderful app with lots of information from many fire sites when it works. It does crash at times for a long period of time.

Updated satellites!
Thank you for finally updating the satellite links. I have not been able to access them ever since the NWS updated the GOES satellites a while ago. Was about to cancel my subscription as that’s a main feature I have used. Of course the fire info is also very good as well. Now I may renew it after all.
No Longer Functions
Will no longer load on iPhone or iPad. You see a screen for a split second, then the app shuts down. Frustrating for an app you are paying for.
Great when it works
I have been using this app for years, but out of nowhere it has just stopped working. I open it and it immediately closes out. Even after deleting the app and restarting my phone before reinstalling. I was counting on this app to watch for the Bridge and Line fires in my area. * App is on most recent update
Recommendation/feature request.
Please differential between the hotspots and the burn scar/black within the fires parameter. Presently it is misleading and gives the impression that the entire parameter is still hot/active burning. Thx

I want to be alerted for a location I’m not currently at. I don’t see anyway to input a different location. My current location has no fire risk.

NIFC
I’m a new user, and the NFIC tab does not populate/report any fires. The tab opens the map, but the entire map shows no fires - which is currently incorrect.
Used to be great
I gave this three stars because it used to work great. Now on my iPhone X 16.7.9, it just opens and closes. I am looking forward to it being fixed.

Fires are a problem where I live and this app has been so helpful when I need to know what is happening and where.

It has worked very well for me and has been very useful for my bush property in Victoria, however it always crashes on me when I need it for Queensland.
Missing info, not updated
This app could be great but it needs to supply more information more often. Better than nothing, but far from great.

I love the concept of this app! BUT it won’t update. It must be deleted and reloaded to get current information. Please fix this.
Love the app
I normally use Watch Duty to watch in the surrounding areas around me for fires now I have found this one. I can read this one a little bit more better than I can Watch Duty I really like it and I’m going to recommend it to friends, especially in my town. Thank you.
Maps not loading
That was a very pathetic response as a developer. Since leaving that review I have since switched to the app WATCHDUTY which is far superior and is actually ran by the fire fighting community and those who work in IC. It is your JOB as developers to check in on each fire in the system and map and update it regularly. Instead you were being lazy and decided to blame a satellite because it wasn’t doing your JOB. pathetic.

Crash course
Fires was at one time, my go to source for wildfire information. Slowly it’s become problematic, at first it wouldn’t open certain areas and I had to use the WWW button to get any useful information. Today I went to open after seeing a friend’s post about a fire near Big Bear. All that the app did was crash, repeatedly. So I deleted the app and came to the App Store to get the latest version. No luck, still crashes. So I deleted it and will just go to Inciweb or the Cal Fire site directly. 😔

Gr8 app but as others hv said it can crash, now this might b the telco provider and range issue, otherwise needs to be fixed as this is not what you want for fire advice!

Thank you, Ca Fire developer. Your app is now user-friendly and allows one to click on the area and clearly see where the active fires are and the areas that are likely to experience wildfires. I highly recommend this app.
Will not stay open
Working from the latest IOS 18.0, Fires will not open, even after attempting to reinstall. Please fix!!!!!!

Been using for year - now won’t load and is useless
Because of where they pull the data for wildfires and how extensive the data is, I’ve been using this, admittedly, clunky app for a long time. Recently, it’ll only open for two seconds then crash. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still doing the same thing. So, bye?

Doesn’t work !! remove from the App Store
Just downloaded this to my iPhone it absolutely will not open. I have removed and installed it, 4 times. Do not waste your time. This particular app should really be removed from iPhone App Store.
